"Lucy, I wanna ask you something." Shyly, but seriously.

"Go for it Natsu, what's up?" Polite curiosity.

"What would you do if I... slapped you?" Not the real question she wanted him to ask, but oh well.

"I'll slap you back, of course!"

"What if I punched you?" Okay, he was obviously going somewhere with this... the only question was where.

"I'll punch you back before you could even think the word food, pyro."

"If I kicked you?" What on earth...

"Then I'll kick you back, dummy... where are you going with this, Natsu?"

"Gimme a sec here, Luce... what would you do if I... loved you." Silence on both of their parts, and Lucy blushed hotter and brighter than she had ever had in her life. It took her a moment to recuperate and form an answer, during which Natsu grew increasingly nervous.

"Then I'd love you back, silly." Lucy smiled at him, and he grinned back.
