I own nothing
Chapter six
( Undisclosed location)
A brown-haired woman in her late thirties was seen wandering around in an empty hallway, in utter confusion and fear. She wore a yellow turtle neck shirt and had a lab coat over it. Her green eyes looked over the empty hallway with a sense of confusion and dread.
"W-what's going on?! One minute I-I'm in GEHIRN strangling that little brat, for what Gendo said, " said the woman. "Then I killed her and I..."
The image of the blue-haired girl Rei, dead on the ground, dead by her hand, she had taken a life, the life of a child, The act had driven her insane and broke her mentally and emotionally. In her guilt-ridden state of mind, she nearly ran herself off a platform until she was grabbed by someone and rendered unconscious.
"You were being manipulated Doctor Naoko Akagi " a voice echoed in the dark halls
"W-who said that? Show yourself!" the woman identified as Doctor Naoko Akagi demanded
"What the little one was saying was sadly true, you are of no more use to him, but you could be-"
"SHUT UP!"
"Whoa now testy aren't we?" the voice spoke again but a bit more jovial
"Show yourself !"
The lights on the ceiling lit up shining upon her, much to her confusion.
"Follow the light doctor." the voice instructed
More curious than hesitant Naoko trudge forward, the ceiling lights lighting up one by one with every step she took. The halls echoed with every step she took, it was similar to Gehirn's hallways, in which she still wound up getting lost despite being there for a few years. The lights kept lighting up to a doorway towards the end of the hall.
"That might be a way out," said Naoko increasing her pace.
As soon as she reached the door, it suddenly opened with a silent whoosh with a bright light emanating from it. The light was so bright she had to shield her eyes as she walked incautiously. Naoko stepped into the room adjacent to the hallway and the doors closed behind her.
Naoko gasped at what she saw. The control room was large,
There were personnel, men and women, all clad in black, working on computer consoles and monitors, down below level in spaces. (Think the main control room of the SHIELD Triskeletion in Winter Solider) Naoko looked around at the upper-level monitors that show various parts of the globe, just like in GEHIRN's terminal control room.
Below the main screen that showed parts of the world, stood a muscular man with long hair tied in a ponytail clad in black with his arms behind him, back turned as he stared up at the screen. Approaching the man cautiously, she was going to inquire until he spoke first
"Dr. Akagi." the man spoke turning around
"So you're -" she started
"The man in charge. Yes I am, my name is Carlos Kaval, and this is the Black Dragon Organization," he said
"Black Dragons ?" she whispered, "I thought you were a myth."
"And it would be preferable that we remain that way. We've been looking after the world in secret, stopping threats here and there, from within and without. Putting out a few small fires before they could become, big ones." stated Kaval
Kaval was handed a small portable device, with a wave several images appeared in a row, much to Naoko's shock. (Think the handheld device used by Tony in The Avengers).
"Unprecedented, even GEHIRN doesn't have this type of technology."
"NERV you mean. The name change has been made official it, earlier today, in fact, it just took too long."
Kaval waved the device and the images retracted, back in.
" Wait, NERV-"
"Thinks you're dead doctor. You threw yourself off that platform out of extreme guilt for strangling that little girl. Which was exactly what Gendo wanted."
She could only look at the man in shock, he took her silence as a cue to continue.
"One of my people managed to get to you before that happened. A great mind like yours still has a lot to offer. Your former 'lover' and I use that term loosely, he didn't think that, but me..well there are other ways you can be of use so as long as they can be found.
"But why me?"
"Frankly you have a unique mind about biomechanics, a real creativeness for it. Aside from the late Yui Ikari." stated the man causing Naoko to frown
"You have a certain creativeness that Black Dragon hopes to utilize, your work with the MAGI and the Evas, is most impressive."
"You know about the MAGI as well?" she asked incredulously, he nodded in response
"All right Mr. Kaval, what exactly do you want from me?"
Kaval, chuckled humorously
"The big question. What I want Dr. Akagi, is to offer you a chance, you've been working for the bad guys. I just don't mean Gendo Ikari. No, I'm talking people above him. People who are using him, and who used you and your daughter, really bad people. I'm giving you a chance to work for the real good guys. Make a true difference in the world, before the angels get here."
Naoko looked down in thought. Despite everything she did for Gendo; eventually, he threw her away like trash. She felt shame, used, and humiliated as she thought about it. Naoko surveyed these surroundings, she was impressed at the level of technology Black Dragons possessed. With all this, she could get back at Gendo.
But as she thought of him, Naoko thought of Ritsuko, her daughter. How she could now be subjected to Gendo's manipulations.
Ristusko was just as brilliant as her sure, but she was young had a certain naivety to her, which Gendo will use to his advantage. Naoko couldn't let that happen, somehow she couldn't. She may have fallen for Gendo's act but she wouldn't let Ritsuko make the same mistake.
But how? She was officially declared dead, even though her body wasn't found. But if these people could fake her death, then maybe she can watch over her daughter in secret.
"I have a few conditions Mr. Kaval" answered Naoko causing Kaval to smile
"I figured you'd say that. Follow me to my office and we'll talk more." the man instructed
(Beijing- China Liu Kang and Kitana's residence late at night)
Several days had passed since the assassin attempt on Kitana had occurred. It wasn't the first time an attempt had been made on her life, and it wouldn't be the last either, unfortunately. Being wealthy and powerful, paints a rather large target on one's back.
Liu Kang had been irate, when he first heard of it although there were many assassin attempts on her life throughout the centuries, he was ready to drop everything and gather some of their associates and hunt down the parties responsible.
But Kitana vehemently objected, stating that rash action now would only make them bolder and increase their attempts and target other members of the family. Her husband sighed calming himself knowing she was right. Kitana had her publicist concoct the cover story for the media, that she had been involved in a hit and run accident and was unharmed.
Although that would appease most in the media, some were too curious for their good and sought to dig deeper for the truth, the Kangs would need to deal with those types as soon as possible.
The more pressing problem lay with the would-be assassins, who would no doubt try again or worse yet, target other members of the family. The attempt on the Dragoness of the family served as a warning and a reminder for all the family around the globe:
They still had enemies, hidden and known. They were to remain on guard at all times. Keep on the watch, and never grow complacent, even in times of peace.
So now in China in the home of Liu and Kitana, night had fallen, the pair were sleeping peacefully in their bed. Liu Kang was twitching on his side for some reason. As if having a nightmare
(Liu Kang's dreamscape)
Liu Kang found himself in a very familiar setting. It was dark, filled with many volcanic layers, lava pits, creatures roamed freely, dead souls were chained to pointed stones, enduring unimaginable torture.
"No, it can't be!" he whispered his voice echoing
"Oh but it is my counterpart !" replied a familiar gravelly dark voice
Liu turned around to see, something he never wanted to see again. His former revenant self, smirking evilly at him.
"No," Liu whispered
"Surprised to see me? Did you really think that I just would just disappear?" His revenant self asked almost mockingly
"No, no, I was cleansed of you, you can't be here now," said Liu very startled
"Do not so be foolish, where there is light, there will always be dark. I am and ever will be the dark to your light, dragon. And nothing, no keeper of time, no god, no loving family can ever change that." said the Revenant
Liu Kang got into his fighting stance, while his counterpart got into the same stance. Both circled each other, waiting for that split second to make a move.
(Fight!)
The Lighter Lui Kang hit a flying kick first stumbling his counterpart, then hit several forearms, Revenant Liu Kang blocked and hit and a double kick, followed by a double fireball attack. Liu Kang, hit a leg sweep
"Gha" Liu grunted going down
Revenant Liu Kang jumped up and missed with a double stomp, light Liu Kang and landed a spinning back kick
"Ghargh!" Revenant Liu Kang grunted
His darker version answered back, with a high and low fireball attack, Liu jumped to avoid it, both went for a flying kick, only to collide and cancel each other out.
The pair went at it again exchanging a flurry of punches and kicks. The human Liu Kang gained the advantage by hitting an ax, kick then a flying kick.
His dark counterpart hit a double wheel kick, followed by an uppercut, Light Liu Kang ducked a fireball, then hit two more flying kicks and a high fireball. To finish the revenant quicky, Liu Kang hit his signature bicycle kick, knocking him down.
"It is no use, every move you know, I know, your every thought, every impulse when it comes to fighting. " his revenant form stated
"We never stop training, one of our more headstrong traits," replied Liu Kang
"Hm Hm...yes a trait shared by some in our family. Others have been, dulled by the west, wealth, power and the one thing you and Kitana have been strictly against Complacency" laughed his dark counterpart as he got up
"Yes, that ...is true. We passed on our teachings to Fei, Xia, and Li Quang And they passed those along their children and theirs. But unfortunately money, power, and materialism corrupt."
"No matter where you go, no matter what timeline, what universe, bloodlust, greed, and corruption will always be prevalent. Anything and anyone can be corrupted, don't forget what Raiden had become as soon as he touched Shinnok's amulet and touched the poisoned Jinsei."
"I have not forgotten. Nor can I ever forget. But in hindsight it was a blessing; I was able to free myself, fully from Shinnok's grasp."
"Not completely as it would seem. I am still here, and always will be," said his revenant
Liu Kang growled
"The same is true for the others; Kitana, Kung Lao, Smoke, Sheeva Jade, Mileena, and Sindel. And the time will come where they'll have to face us." Revenant Liu Kang finished before he slowly walked back into the darkness.
"Until that time I would advise keeping a closer eye on our, Chosen grandson. You do not know what other eyes are upon him." his voice echoing into the black
Liu Kang's eyes snapped open and he sat up in bed. He glanced over at his sleeping wife, thankful he didn't disturb her. Flipping off the covers Liu Kang got out of bed, only wearing shorts and walked towards the door walking out the bedroom, causing Kitana to wake up suddenly. All was quiet within the manor as he walked the halls. The memories of past echoing in his mind.
' This is not your destiny Liu Kang.'
'More visions Raiden? Do you still see the future?'
'There are fates worse than death.'
Liu Kang shook his head to bury those memories deep down, walking in front of a pair of double doors. Opening it to reveal a vast empty room, with lots of pillars, a wooden floor, there where Chinese Kanji written on the walls that read.
"Honor" "Strength" "Light" "Good" "Hope" "Love" "Family"
On the sides were up-kept martial arts training equipment, as well as non-lethal weapons mounted on the walls.
And in the center, was the emblem of a large black dragon(Think the Mortal Kombat symbol) and in the far wall with three platforms below, was a statue of a Lotus with a dragon wrapped around it.
Liu Kang gathered some candles, and laid them out a circle and lighting them on fire with his power. He got into fight position, and began some exercises.
"Deny me all you wish, you can never escape me." the voice of his revenant spoke again
Liu Kang looked to see an image of his dark counterpart standing across from him again with a mocking smile, while this time he was wide awake. Liu swung in mid-air, almost furiously.
"Get out of my head!" he growled
Sensing another presence behind him and knowing who it was, he swung his left forearm at said person who blocked it. Liu Kang looked into the concerned eyes of his beloved Dragoness, she blocked another slow strike, then a quick strike. They just held that position there for a few minutes.
"Darling, what troubles you?" asked Kitana feeling him release his arm from hers
"Memories of the..." other life" that we had are surfacing again. Who and what we once were." her husband answered
"Our revenants?" she asked rubbing his arm comfortingly
"Yes, even after five thousand years, the foul aura of our revenants still hang over us like a bad cloud. I do not think we will ever shake them."
"But the bright light of the sun burns away the dark clouds. We have faced the darkness in ourselves, more times than naught, both here and in the realms of the Elder Gods. As long as you remember who you are, and those that love you, and you will never lose yourself to the darkness like Raiden did."
Her husband smiled
"You're right. No matter what age we're in, you're always right Kitana," said Liu Kang satisfying his wife
"Now come back to bed, we have a long day ahead of us," Kitana said taking his hand
Her husband merely nodded, with a quick thrust of his palm, he blew out the flames on the candles
WHOOSH!
After the action Liu Kang followed his wife back to bed, he glanced to the outside and furrowed his brow as if sensing something, before continuing on. Little did he know, there was a butterfly glowing with ethereal green light, sitting in the window sill before flying off.
(Angeni's Laboratory)
Dr. Cloud was now put the finishing touches on her DNA experiment, involving the young girl Rei Ayanami, still encased in the liquid-filled container, with the breathing apparatus strapped to her face.
Angeni inputted the necessary calculations on her computer while looking at the sleeping child with a sad look, that switched to a determined look as she typed furiously, then she added the multi-colored vials into a connector with tubes wired into the container.
Two more people walked into the room. One was a young American man in his early 20's, seemingly fresh out of college.
He had short brown hair, rectangle glasses, brown eyes, was of medium build, and had a small bandage on his cheek.
His name was Doctor Henry Jones, a recently appointed assistant to Angeni, and one of her closest friends.
Another person came in with him with wild unkempt black hair, pale skin, he almost could pass for an albino, he wore a long white sleeve shirt with plain blue slacks and wore converse sneakers. His name was Alistair Lennox
"How's the patient coming along AC?" asked Henry looking into the glass tube
"You know I hate it when you call me that, Henry," replied Angeni looking at her screen
"I know, that's why I still do it." Henry chuckled
"Everything is almost set," Angeni said looking at her monitor
"Almost, just a couple of things Angeni," said Alistair
"Like what Al? I thought we had everything," said Henry
"Not everything," replied Alistair pulling out an extra vials from his coat pocket
"Who's blood is that?" asked Angeni
"This belongs to your family friend, Jade ….with her consent of course."
"She-"
"She knows what we're doing yes, after all, it is White Lotus that's providing our funding. So Jade has to be kept in the loop all times about our work here.
And since she was informed about what this girl went through at clutches of NERV, she jumped on board donated some of her blood in a snap." explained Alistair snapping his fingers for emphasis
Dr. Cloud began to contemplate this information, making her rethink her previous position. Jade's unique Edenian DNA, may prove to be a lot more of a stabilizing agent than the harnessed preserved DNA from the Himalayans as well as the DNA of the Lin Kuei ninja.
After a few more moments of thoughts, Angeni nodded, and began to replace a few of the DNA samples she preserved, with some of Jade's samples, and began to type away on her console. Her two colleagues did the same, readjusting their set parameters to suit the sudden change.
"Now we're ready to start,"
"Good." a voice said making Henry jump in surprise
The doctors turned around to see Lin Kuei ninja Chen Han, and Smoke's best student approaching the tube with his arms folded behind his back.
"Oh you again, man you almost gave me a heart attack." Henry groused
"My apologies," said Chen
"That wouldn't have been a bad thing. Have you come to see the final stages, Master Chen?" Angeni asked getting a nod
"I am, " he answered staring at the occupant inside the tube. "Master Smoke, couldn't be here so he sent me in his place."
"There's no guarantee that this will work, Master. This is still a completely new ground for us. The risk is still too great, the poor girl could die." the doctor stated
"I understand that Dr. Cloud, but everything we do carries risks, you know that," replied Chen
"All we can do now is hope this works. Are you ready to start Jones?" asked Angeni as Henry took his seat on the opposite console
"Let's make happen captain!" rhymed the American said enthusiastically
"He's very excitable," commented Chen
"Sometimes too excitable, beginning the extraction sequence now!"Alistair said as the machines began to hum, a series of suction cup-like tubes extending and attaching to Rei's body.
"Extraction of foreign DNA... successful." Henry reported "Next step?"
"Beginning infusion of new DNA," Angeni said, a nervousness in her tone. 'Ancestors please let this work!'
A separate series of needles and tubes extended from the sides and pierced Rei's unconscious body in her arms hips and legs.
"Infusion commencing. Now!"
Chen watched as the liquid from the vials was drained, traveling through the tube towards, into the girl. Her little face was scrunching up with painful expression, as liquid spread throughout her body, changing her chemical make-up from within her tiny body.
"First Full transference in...8.. 7...6...5...4...3...2...1. Infusion complete."
"Alright, her vitals are weak but stable," reported Henry from his console
"Infusing secondary DNA." Alistair reported "No rejection Dr. Cloud."
"Alright, Henry activate Vita-Pulses," said Angeni putting on a pair of googles
"You're gonna need these buddy, it's about to get lit," Henry said to Chen tossing him a pair of goggles while he had thick sunglasses
The term was lost on Chen, but he obliged nonetheless. The green in the tank started to glow brightly. Lighting up the entire room like Christmas. Seconds turned into minutes, the glowing eventually stopped as everyone stared at the tank.
The girl was still little, but her skin was no longer that of an albino. More of a darker skin, her hair was white/blueish. They would have to wait until she opened her eyes to see what color they were.
"Is she?" Chen asked looking at the now changed girl
"Her vitals...are stable...no rejection...s-s-he's...fine." said Henry "Totally fine."
"I can't believe it actually worked," remarked Alistair
"Thank the Spirits." breathed Angeni
Chen inched closer to the tube placing a hand on the glass. The girl slowly opened her eyes to reveal a blue eye color, before closing them again.
" I take it you'll be looking after her?" asked Angeni getting a nod from the Ninja
"Yes I will, she will be trained as Lin Kuei ."
"Perhaps we could hold off that for a bit," Alistair spoke cautiously
At this Chen growled silently, glaring at the man, who flinched visibly.
"What I mean is, we just need to run some more tests just to make sure everything is safe." the man said meekly
Chen looked down in thought before nodding.
"Hmm...very well,"
"Thank you-"
"Three days, after that I'm taking her to the Lin Kuei Temple." stated the Ninja leaving no room for argument
"Three days?! it-"
"We can do three days Mr. Chen."
"Good," replied Chen looking back at the now changed girl into the tube "A new life deserves a new identity"
"New identity?" the trio asked
"Yes, Rei Ayanami no longer exists in this form, she will need a new identity"
"How about Orchid?" asked Henry causing his colleagues to look at him oddly
"What it's a...unique name, for a somewhat unique situation," He said
"How about Jennifer?" Alistair inputted
"After The American actress? Or the singer Jennifer Lopez?" Inquired Angeni
"The singer, my niece likes her music, Dr. Cloud," Alistair explained
The ninja thought carefully, of a name. Jade had donated her DNA to help this child, so he thought to honor her in some form, as well as the memory of his own deceased family, as he was suddenly reminded of his mother. One name came to mind instantly.
"She will be called Meilin," Chen stated with finality
"Meilin?" Angeni questioned the ninja
"Yes, it was my mother's name. It means Jade."
"I think that's a good name," Angeni commented
"That's a swell name," Alistair said in agreement
"Cool name." inputted Henry
"Thank you," said Chen
(Japan, Tokyo NERV HQ)
A sleek black SUV was seen pulling up to the NERV park garage. The driver side opened up, and out stepped a shapely dark-skinned woman, wearing a dark green knee-length business dress with matching high-heel pumps, her long black hair tied in a long braid.
Her name was Jade Yin, occasional bodyguard to her friend and life long sister-figure to Kitana, and head of the Japanese branch of White Lotus.
Adjusting the dark shades on her face, to cover up her anger. Anger that she had to be here in the vile place.
The place where Yui Ikari, or rather Yui Kang one of her favorite goddaughters, lost her life while young Shinji watched. Walking towards the entrance, she flashed her temporary entry permit badge and was admitted entrance.
'I must remain on guard, While I'm here on official White Lotus business, I expect Gendo Ikari to try and pull something to twist my arm to provide what he wants.' thought Jade walking through the hallways
Jade was led to a waiting area within along with other people in business suits and military uniforms, indicating they were top officials of the Japanese military.
Jade paid them no mind as she stood in the far corner. It wasn't long before an old gentleman wearing a special kind of grey military uniform entered into the room. Upon closer examination, Jade's eyes widened slightly in recognition behind her sunglasses.
'Professor Kouzo Fuyutsuki?! So our intel was true, he is working for Gendo. But why?' Jade thought
"Gentlemen ladies, I am Sub-commander Kouzu Fuyutsuki, I bid you welcome to the Paramilitary agency re-named NERV." he introduced bowing in respect, while the group bowed in response.
"Thank you sub-commander. If I may ask, why isn't Gendo Ikari here?" asked a military official with the rank of division general
"Oh yes, Commander Ikari is settling a matter with our European branch of NERV. He should be along shortly."
The group murmured among themselves, while Jade narrowed her eyes, and took out her cellphone, sending a quick text before putting back in her pocket.
"If you'll all follow me, I'll show you what we're preparing for in the near future, and please try not to get lost, this is a very massive complex," Fuyutsuki advised
The group proceeded to follow the aged sub-commander closely, Jade hung back a bit but not too far, to arouse suspicion. Fuyutsuki led the group on the drowning out the inquires that the other business associates and military brass had for the old professor.
However unbeknownst to the group, Gendo was watching the group from a security feed in another room, his eyes specifically on the dark-skinned woman in the green dress, Jade Yin.
It was only four months after he had left his son, and he was suddenly taken in by that wealthy socialite Sindel Edenia, Gendo wanted answers as to why. He needed Shinji to be weak-willed and starved for affection in the years to come, so when he finally recalled the boy to Tokyo, he would serve a purpose to him. Picking up the phone he called his security.
"Yes, this Commander Ikari, I have a task for you. Bring the woman called Jade to my office, immediately," he ordered hanging up the phone
'You will tell me all you know woman! And then I'll make you pay for your actions. Perhaps even make you my-'
Ring Ring Ring
Grunting angrily the commander answered
"Yes."
("Gendo Ikari, we are aware that one of our CEO's in your Headquarters. Fair warning try anything towards her, and the Dragon will come for you!") a voice said in a threatening tone before hanging up
"How did..?"
BEEP BEEP
SLAM!
"I do not fear this 'Dragon' this woman will be brought to me, on her knees preferably," Gendo growled watching the monitor
The tour group followed his sub-commander all the way to one the parts of subterminal dogma which house a lot of computers, but hardly any techs manning them. Then they moved on to the cage area where two of the Evas Units were being constructed in different sections. Jade followed more even more closely with apparent interest.
Just then a mousy looking clerk, wheeling a stack of office supplies to one of the upper departments came from around the. She was a short-haired young unassuming Japanese woman, she rolled the cart at least five feet away from the touring group, clumsily she passed them up, only for her cart, lose a wheel and go crashing down spilling the papers and pens and whatever else was on it.
The military brass just shook their heads paying her no mind while continuing to follow the Sub-commander, Jade being the helpful person that she was, went back to give assistance to the woman.
"Thank you, I've kept putting in requests for maintenance to fix this thing or get a replacement that's durable. But they wanna be cheap." said the woman looking back while gathering her papers
"I can tell, Ms. Shitow," Jade replied knowing she was a Black Dragon agent
"Also," Haraka leaned in closer to whisper
"The Commander is sending his thugs to retrieve you. They're hoping to get you alone to 'Talk' "
"Hmm..I see, the man doesn't take no for answer, does he? No matter, this will provide some ammo to use against him and this Organization." Jade said helping her pick up papers and contents
"And I got good look one of the Evas in development, a large purple one. He seems to favor that for some reason, he's personally overseeing its development."
"Hmm...interesting, what's it called?" Jade asked 'helping' her to stand up
"They're calling it Unit-01," answered Haraka
Images of the giant purple monstrosity, becoming the center, for the end of all things flashed in front of Jade's eyes.
"Jade?"
"Right sorry." the Edenian apologize then askes, "How far along is it in its development?"
"About six or seven years away from full completion, oh don't look now, but here they come," said Haraka looking over Jade's shoulder
Haraka gathered the remainder of her things and wheeled away, Jade was approached by six men in dark suits, Jade scoffed at them, not intimidated, but decided to play along and not cause a scene, yet.
"Ms. Yin." addressed the lead man
"Something I can do for you gentlemen?" Jade asked in a fake innocent tone
"Commander Ikari wishes to speak with you, in private." said the man
"Pertaining to what? if I might ask."
"The matter regarding Shinji Ikari."
"And If I were to say no?"
The men proceed to get into a position to subdue her if necessary.
"I'm afraid I must insist." said the agent
Jade pretended to look down, deep in thought she could take these men she agreed, she proceeded to follow them to the higher levels of NERV, taking three elevator stops and two flights of stairs, the group had made it to the Commander's office.
The doors opened, and Jade was greeted with pure darkness, the only semblance of light was the large window in the back of the desk where the Commander sat, and something on the ceiling she couldn't make out. Walking in with Gendo's goon squad, Jade approached, barely hiding her disdain. Gendo dismissed the men leaving Jade alone with him. The tension was so thick, it could be cut with a knife.
"Well, here I am. Now, what do you want?" the woman asked not bothering to hide her irritation
"You will show me respect," Gendo replied in a cold tone
"My respect must be earned, and you haven't earned mine yet."
Gendo glared at the woman, hoping to intimidate her, but fail to do so.
"I called you here to answer my questions, and you will not be leaving until you've answered them. I want to know why your employees took a vested interest in my son's care? What is your connection to my late wife?"
"Hmph...I could answer your questions, but I choose not to. I'm not under your employ, I have no obligation to your agency or any connection whatsoever. I can just walk away without telling you anything, which is exactly what I'm going to do." said Jade preparing to turn around
Just then six armed men came inside and pointed their guns at Jade cutting off her exit.
"As I said, you will not be leaving until I get answers." Gendo said " And if you refuse to cooperate, then I will have to use less then savory methods. And quite honestly, I am tempted to use such methods right now."
Jade narrowed her eyes not giving in to his intimidation tactics.
"This is something you don't want Gendo, this is only going to end badly for you." the woman warned
Gendo nodded silently ordering his men to converge on the woman and bring her to interrogation. Jade stood her ground and sighed.
"Alright, you chose this route."
Jade landed a front kick to the first armed agent, then hit a side chop to the neck of another, then kneed him in the gut and slammed hard on the ground. She quickly snatched a gun from the third man and smashed him over the face with it.
Jade hit a leg sweep on a fourth man, and punched him in the face, she ducked a strike from the fifth man, she grabbed his arm and hit a hook kick to the face. And finally Jade struck the last man with a palm bash followed by a straight kick to the face.
Jade cracked her neck, not the least bit winded, she glanced back at the man with a stunned look on his face.
"You will pay for this insult Gendo, be certain of that. Stay on guard for the rest of your useless life." Jade said in a threatening tone before walking out
(Elsewhere With Grandmaster Smoke late in the evening )
Grandmaster Smoke was on the far forest outskirts of Tokyo, on a personal mission. His mission was to recover an ancient relic hidden during the warring states era, its location was known only by few, now by one, that being Smoke himself.
In the feudal era times, one of his first tasks he took as he was building the Lin Kuei, was to hide relics of value, away from their enemies. Sometimes to destroy them so they wouldn't be used by any, one person or group. In the past, the Lin Kuei had warred and competed with rival ninja clans from both Japan and China, only seeing most of the clans destroyed from within and out by their enemies.
As he was walking, he sensed he was being followed, several groups of shadowy silhouettes were jumping across the trees. Smoke smirked underneath his mask and kept on his path. After at least twenty minutes of walking, the Grandmaster stopped in a clearing, just short of his destination.
"You need more stealth training, I sensed you the moment I walked into the forest." Smoke said aloud his voice echoing through the forest.
Sure enough, several groups of figures emerged from hiding. They all wore colors of black and beige, with matching masks with white lenses. (Think Deathstroke's costume) They all were of medium to average-sized build, from the looks of them they were all male, the leader of the group was a taller muscular masked man with a sword on his back.
"The Desusutoraki (AKA Deathstrike) clan. I should have known, you would be here." the ninja said
"Grandmaster Smoke, our master wants the item, surrender its location and you may live." said the taller man
"No, " was the grandmaster's reply getting into a fighting stance.
"Hmmm...as expected." the tall man said motioning for his comrades to surround Smoke cutting off any chance of escape, while he stood in front of him.
(Fight!)
Smoke started off, with a quick forearm to the face, followed by a spin high kick. The tall man, retaliated, with an uppercut, then a forearm punch of his own, then a double kick, he unsheathed his sword and swung at him vertically, only for Smoke to use his smoke cloud ability to blind him temporarily.
"Argh!" he yelled
Smoke took advantage and used his teleport ability, and hit a hook kick from behind. The leader regained his sight and went a low, and high stab with his sword, cutting his grey-clad opponent on the shoulder.
The leader went for a high slash, maneuver, only for Smoke to use his smoke away ability to avoid it, then he reappeared from above hitting a dropkick, sending his opponent face-first into the ground, knocking him down rendering him unconscious.
"Where there is smoke, there's fire." Smoke declared to his downed opponent
The rest of Deathstrike clan proceeded to surround him, Smoke used a smoke flash technique to escape. He quickly reappeared a good distance away from his previous location, and a good deal closer to his intended destination, Smoke proceeded to break out into a run to keep a large gap between him and his pursuers.
"I don't have much time, I must retrieve -"
FLASH FREEZE!
"What?
The ground and two trees flash froze right in front of him, the cause walked out from underneath the shadows. He was of equal size to Smoke himself, he had a black and blue mask with matching lenses, he had light sliver and blue body armor with sliver gauntlets on both forearms and no gloves on his hands.
"The chill of death is upon you." the figure stated getting into a fighting stance, icy mists coming from his hands
"It's not possible. Identify yourself!" the grey-clad grandmaster demanded
"My name is Tundra, and I'll be the last thing you'll ever see," stated Tundra
End chapter
Endnotes: I hope didn't think I wouldn't have a rival ninja clan to the Lin Kuei, The Deathstrike Clan has been taken from MK Vs DC. Tundra, is a dark version of Sub-Zero, will the real Sub-Zero pop by in some form? I don't know, only time will tell and if y'all want that. How do you like Rei one now named Meilin which becoming changed, to something of a half Edenia. She will have her own set of skills, she will be trained by the Lin Kuei at the same time be adopted by Jade as her surrogate daughter. Don't worry I haven't forgotten about Canon Rei. As for the object that Smoke is searching for, I'll leave up to interpretation, it can be a medallion or a staff, anything. Next chapter Shinji manifests his powers and maybe just maybe meet dear not so old grandpa Liu Kang, also did anyone catch the butterfly reference. Another note, regarding my poll, I was kind of hoping number four to get the vote. In case anyone is wondering, why I changed Maikoh's name to Cloud, is because that through research there was something I missed, I found out that Nightwolf's real name was Grey Cloud, and Nightwolf is a title, but Kaval stays the same.
