A GAME
(ISHI'S P.O.V)
I was sitting in my history class, getting bored and irritated by the idiotic teacher. She is going on blabbering and blabbering on some French revolution.
Why? Why do people have to be so nosy and getting their stupid freaking noses into other people's fight? What are you? Gossip Girls?
They rose up, fought, broke the Bastille prison, then died in some nineteenth century and we're suffering the consequences by reading it.
Wait... now I've started to think why don't we rebel against our principal and break down all the rules. That would be called 'Bey High Revolution'. Then the students some centuries after will read about it. Yep, that would be great.
My amazing plans for the future generation were interrupted by a chattering. This wasn't of Mrs Blabberheads (this is what I call my History teacher) but by Koala. You'll be thinking who she is. Well, her real name is Clara Stepson. She is a chatterbox and the most talkative girl I ever met. People say I'm talkative but I am NOT. I'm just an extrovert.
Anyways back to Koala's description. She is the so-called girlfriend of Kai. He doesn't even seem to have a tiny bit of interest in her. Maybe because all boys in Bey High have girlfriends and they may call him a gay. Or there may be another reason too. Who knows what that boy has in his mind?
You must be thinking about how I know the world-class beyblader. It's because I'm also a Bladebreaker. I know you are confused. Lemme clarify.
After the whole BEGA fiasco, Bladebreakers were reformed. Then they met me in a park one day. I was practising when Tyson challenged me because he somehow saw that I had a bitbeast. Our match ended up in a tie. Then Hiwatari saw some skill in me (maybe) and offered me to join his team. And from that time we all are buddies. Well except Kai of course. He's a sourpuss.
Tring!
Finally!
I was walking towards my locker when I heard Koala ranting about something to Kai who was keeping his books in his bag. I walked more closely to hear their convo.
"Kai-kun," she said with so much sugar in her voice that one would puke at that. Ugh, so disgusting.
"What about a date tonight? Just you and me." Her squeaky voice was really irritating. I sensed Kai's helplessness and decided to show some of my friendliness. Can't help it, I'm awesome like that.
"Err..." Kai's to-be excuse was cut off by my voice as I passed by.
"We have to assemble at Tyson's this afternoon. I hope you didn't forget."
"Why you..." Koala's cursing was interrupted by Kai's cold voice which had a hidden thankfulness.
"Yeah, Ishi is right. Sorry, Clara not today." Koala made a disgusting face and walked off. Kai also hung his bag over his shoulders and was about to walk away when I called him.
"Hey Kai! A bit of help here." I said pointing my thumb at my locker. This year I was the unlucky one to get this jammed locker. Only Kai can open it. Because it opens with a punch. And I don't wanna hurt myself, plus hurting Kai's no big deal. His wounds would heal like a phoenix. You get that? No? Yeah, I know I'm bad at puns.
"You can't even do such simple work, Ish." He said as he opened the locker.
"Excuse me?! You should thank me from saving you from your one hell of a girlfriend," I said as I put my hands on my hips. He rolled his eyes at the last word.
"Anyways, why don't you leave her? You'll get a nice girl someday or the other." I said as I stuffed my books in my bag and he leant at the locker beside mine.
"I can't." He said with a sigh.
"Why? Don't you have a mouth to say?" I deadpanned. Yeah, I, Ishi Kurenai, deadpanned. We positive people don't do that! But guess what, Kai brings the worst out of me. There's a lot evil layered under his handsome looks.
"You won't understand."
"Why won't I understand? It is just simple. Go to her and tell 'Hey, chatterbox I'm breaking up with you. You are of no use to me.' Simple." I shrugged.
"Everything is simple for you, Ish," Kai said as he started to walk off. I saw his retreating form down the hallways when something struck my mind. He was calling me Ish. Hey! That's a sound of disgust. Isn't it?
"HEY! What did you call me?" I said as I walked to him.
"Ish. Any problem with that?" He said as he quirked an eyebrow up.
"Of course. It's a sound of disgust."
"Who said that you aren't disgusting?"
"Ha." I gasped and made a hurt face. "I hate you."
"I don't love you either," Kai smirked.
"You're lying. No one can resist this." I said pointing to my body.
"That's 90% fat." And with another smirk, he walked off.
What the-?
I'm gonna show you Hiwatari, you just wait.
It was afternoon and we all were sprawled in the dojo living room. Tyson was eating nachos after a lot of argument with Daichi. They were both fighting over the chips for an hour until Hilary gave another packet to Daichi.
Kenny was busy with Dizzy while Hilary was doing some sketching. In all this chaos, I was lying down with my hand under my head and eyes closed. One would think I was sleeping, but do you even know me?
"Hey Ishi, wanna blade?" Tyson asked as he finished eating.
"Ha, you know only two things, eating and blading. Can't you rest for a while?" Hilary said mockingly to Tyson.
"Hahaha, that's so true, Grandma." Daichi laughed heart fully. Wow, how is Hilary silent after this? Oh yeah, she went to the kitchen.
"Hey, you are no different from me." Tyson retorted.
"Of course I am; I'm two years younger than you." Daichi was also not the one to move back.
Okay, it's funny but annoying. "Hey guys just shut up; I'm trying to get some sleep," I spoke out.
"Kenny, are you sure computers don't dream?" Dizzy said from Kenny's laptop.
"Why are you asking?"
"No Kenny, I'm obviously dreaming or else who would believe Ishi Kurenai to be sleeping." The others chuckled at this.
"Hey! I sleep at night. Don't be so mean." I pouted. They were mean.
"No kidding, but Dizzy's cent per cent right," Hilary spoke, entering the room. "You're way too restless, Ishi."
"Okay, fine, whatever. Let's stop talking about all this and do something interesting." I said, getting up.
"But what are we going to do?" Daichi asked.
"T for truth and D for dare."
"Wow, Ishi. It's a good idea. Let's start." Tyson said. We all sat round in a circle.
"Don't you think we are too less. I mean only five." Daichi said.
"Yeah, but what can we do? Ray is sleeping in the next room and Max is out." Hilary said. As if on cue the door opened and showed Max standing there. Talk about timing. He came and sat in the circle.
"What are we doing?" Max asked, rubbing his hands in excitement. Wow, boy, he is hyper.
"We decided to play truth and dare," Kenny said.
"Cool, now I'm here so let's play."
"Yeah but what about Kai?" He wasn't around and I needed to get even with him.
"Speak of the devil..." Tyson trailed off and everybody turned to see Kai walk past them to the backyard.
"Hey Kai! Wanna play truth and dare." Max said to him.
"No." He simply said. He was about to walk away when I glanced at Tyson and he nodded with an evil glint in his maroon eyes.
"Don't you think he's afraid, Ishi?" The ultimate are-you-scared or you-are-not-strong-enough card. Works every time.
"Yeah, Ty. I never thought the world-class beyblader would be afraid of playing just a game." I added to the taunt. He couldn't back down if he wanted to keep his pride intact. And as expected, with a roll of the eye, he sat down with us.
"I'll go first. Daichi, truth or dare?" Tyson said.
"Dare of course," Daichi said triumphantly.
"Okay, so you go and dress up like a girl and dance on a song like a stripper and strip your clothes until you are in your boxers," Tyson said excitedly as Daichi's confident faded and was replaced with shock.
"HELL NO!"
"You can't move back." Tyson and Max said together in a sing-song voice. Daichi slumped as Hilary quickly ran in and came back with her clothes in her hands.
"Ta-da"
The club isn't the best place to find a lover
So the bar is where I go (mmmm)
Me and my friends at the table doing shots
Drinking fast and then we talk slow (mmmm)
And you come over and start up a conversation with just me
And trust me I'll give it a chance now (mmmm)
Take my hand, stop, put Van The Man on the jukebox
And then we start to dance
And now I'm singing like
He was so into character. Oh, the blouse was off by now.
Girl, you know I want your love
Your love was handmade for somebody like me
Come on now, follow my lead
I may be crazy, don't mind me
Say, boy, let's not talk too much
Grab on my waist and put that body on me
Come on now, follow my lead
Come, come on now, follow my lead (mmmm)
Now he opened the skirt. All that remained on him was his boxers. Beside me, Hilary closed her eyes, while I could just watch in surprise. Wow, that rhymed.
I'm in love with the shape of you
We push and pull like a magnet do
Although my heart is falling too
I'm in love with your body
Last night you were in my room
And now my bedsheets smell like you
Every day discovering something brand new
I'm in love with your bodyOh I oh I oh I oh I
I'm in love with your body
Oh I oh I oh I oh I
I'm in love with your body
Oh I oh I oh I oh I
I'm in love with your body
Every day discovering something brand new
I'm in love with the shape of you
He danced, moving his body at each flip and was fully embarrassed by the end. We all were the living example of ROFL by then. Even Kai was chuckling.
Daichi then changed and came back all flushed and red with embarrassment. He glared at Tyson who was still laughing. Then he turned to Max. His eyes held mischief and I couldn't wait to know what was in his mind.
He turned to our American blonde, "So Max, truth or dare?"
"Dare."
"Okay then, climb the roof and scream that you're a gay."
"WHAT?!" Max's eyes widened with surprise. What did he think? Daichi would be different from Tyson? Nah, they're like two peas in a pod.
"Fine let's make a change in it." Max first sighed with relief at Daichi's words but that relief lasted only for a moment when Daichi shot another arrow. "Add in the last that you are in love with Tyson."
"WHAT?! NO WAY HE/I WOULD DO THAT!" Tyson and Max said simultaneously. But Daichi didn't seem to be changing his mind.
Finally, with a sigh and a lot of whine, Max got up and went on the roof. We all gathered in the backyard.
"HEY BEYCITY!" The whole neighbourhood opened at the yell and looked at Max out of their window. "I'M A GAY! AND I'M IN LOVE WITH TYSON GRANGER!" Max embarrassedly got down.
"Come on Maxie cheer up. Mariam won't break up with you for this." Tyson said as Max went pink with a blush.
"'kay, Kenny, your turn," Max said, trying to change the topic.
"I choose... truth," Kenny said fearing to take dare after what had happened in half an hour.
"Uh... who do like? Emily or Ming Ming." We watched as curiosity filled in. That was a question that was bugging everyone.
"Both… Um, Emily is an awesome partner. Ming Ming… she's beautiful and her voice is angelic." Kenny said hesitantly as we cheered.
"Way to go Kenny."
"Hilary, truth or dare?" Kenny said as he tried his best to control his blush. Gosh, is this Truth or Dare, or Speak and Blush?
"Truth."
"Then tell us who your first crush is?" Kenny said excitedly. I knew she liked Tyson but I too wanted to hear by her own voice.
"I... uh... um," Hilary stammered.
"Come on Hils say," Tyson said as curiosity seemed to be killing him.
"T-Ty- Tyson," Hilary said looking at her lap. Tyson's eyes bulged out of his socket while everyone smirked.
"You never told me. I'm hurt." I nudged a red-faced Hilary, who glared back.
"Anyway. Ishi, truth or dare?" Hilary said as she tried her best not to meet Tyson's eyes.
"Dare." I held my head high. Ishi Kurenai never backs down.
"Kiss Kai," Hilary said elatedly.
"No way am I going to kiss her!" That was Kai. I looked at him, and honestly, I was kinda hurt. Staring deep into those amazing pools of his gem-like eyes, my gaze fell down to his luscious lips.
You don't wanna kiss me, huh? Let's do this then. With a smirk, I looked into his eyes, challenging him. Without wasting another second, my lips were on his.
They were so soft… and moving? He was kissing me back? Whoa, didn't expect that. Wanting to explore more of that those warm Russian lips, my hands went to his dual-toned hair. His hands grabbed my waist and pulled me to his lap. My knees were by his hips and I was practically straddling him. His tongue glided across my lower lip, and before we could put up a show for our friends, cat whistles broke us off.
With my face resembling a tomato, I got down from Kai lap. Damn yes, this was a Blushing Game.
He ran his fingers across his hair, trying to perfect the mess I created. I touched my lips in wonder. I couldn't believe that I just did what I just did.
Daichi's voice broke me from my musing, "Hey tomato-face, it's your turn now." Glaring at him, I turned to Kai.
"Truth or dare?" I was still in a daze from that mind-blowing kiss. Was it bad that I wanted more?
"Dare." That brought me back to my senses. I smirked mentally. No one gets away after calling me out.
"Call Koala and tell her you're breaking up with her," I said, coming back to my bubbly self.
"Are you sure you want to do that? What will you get by breaking their relationship?" Hilary whispered to me. I just smirked. Even I didn't know why I wanted to break them off. It just irritated me seeing them together.
"Are you crazy? How can I break the relationship of years?" Kai said. Wow, good act but we all know you don't really like her.
"And try to be rude or she won't let go," Max said, and secretly winked at me. Yay, I got a supporter.
I grinned, "Go on." Kai rolled his eyes and picked up the phone and dialled Koala's number.
"Hello?" Koala's voice was heard to all of us as Tyson suggested him to keep the phone on loudspeaker.
"Hello, Clara it's me... Kai."
"Ohhh... Kai-kun. What happened?"
"See, you are just a piece of shit. You irritate the crap out of me; I'm not taking it any longer… So, I'm breaking up with you."
"What how can you-" her sugary voice which was now filled with disbelief was cut off when Kai cut the call.
I felt contended… Why? It felt like a long burning fire was cooled down. Was I jealous?
I glanced at Kai with my corner vision. Well, he's worth getting jealous for.
"Well done Kai." Tyson slapped his back, but when Kai death-glared at him, he backed off.
"Whatever, I'm outta here." Kai was about to get up when Kenny spoke up.
"The game's not over yet. Tyson's left."
Kai rolled his eyes, and stared at Tyson with cold eyes, "What do you choose?"
"Dare of course."
And cue the evil Hiwatari smirk.
"Go and wake up Ray in one minute," Kai said. Ooh, that's crazy.
Ray was sick. And when I say sick, I mean the Neko-jin sick. I mean, they've kinda cat traits. And a cold cat is an irritated cat. You do NOT wanna mess with them.
"It's just a cup of tea for me," Tyson said as he crept to Ray's room. I went behind him, standing at the threshold, as Tyson went to stand by the Neko's bed.
Good luck buddy.
"MARIAH IS HERE!" Brave move there, Tyson. You'll be remembered.
Ray got up with a start. His eyes were bloodshot and swollen due to cold. His nose was pink from sneezing.
He looked around, "Where?" He asked the laughing Tyson. Uh-oh, never laugh at someone's misery.
Ray's eyes narrowed into slits, "Tyson Granger," He growled. The sheets were thrown off as he padded towards Tyson like a deadly tiger.
Get it? Neko, tiger?
I'm sorry, I should stop. I'm not punny.
Yeah, definitely stopping.
Before Tyson could runoff, his maroon eyes met with Ray's strong fist. Ouch.
"Get lost," Ray grumbled and went back to sleep.
Tyson came back in the room to find Kai, no strike that; his rival, smirking and the others giggling.
"Fine. Now I think we had played enough. We gotta go to the airport to pick up Gramps." Tyson said holding his eye which would definitely be a black one by tomorrow.
"Hey, why don't we also come?" Kenny suggested, "I don't think you can drive with that eye."
Pity. That's what Kenny felt, and by Tyson's glare from his good eye, he wasn't happy.
"True man. Ray did a number on you." Max was trying his best to not laugh. "But someone has to be here to look after the house." He changed the topic before Tyson could charge at him.
"Kai and Ishi are there. They will look after." Hilary said. "Won't you?" She turned to us.
Kai looked at me, "Yeah, sure."
"Okay then, let's go." And the boys went out but I held Hilary's hand to stop her.
"Why did you do that?"
"What did I do Ishi?"
Fake innocence doesn't work on me, Hilary Tachibana. "Don't act innocent. What's your motive?"
"Don't tell me you aren't happy. You must be jumping inside with joy." Hilary said, smirking at her. And I instantly blushed. Way to go, Ishi.
"It-It's not like that." Stuttering now are we? I'm so proud of myself. (Note the sarcasm)
"Then why did you kiss him and broke his relationship with Clara. You like him. No better say, you love him." Hilary said as she walked out.
"Hey, Hil wait…" I love Kai? There went the fluttering in my chest at his name.
What's happening with me? I'm so confused.
I needed to calm down. I took a deep breath and entered the kitchen. Water could help me.
I took a glass from the cupboard and placed it under the tap, while my mind whirled back to the kiss. Love him or not, the kiss was amazing. It wouldn't hurt to get another one.
Bad Ishi, bad.
But he's so hot and even a hotter kisser.
Stop it! You're getting turned on.
I guess it's not wrong to be turned on by him. And maybe do something about the turn-on. With him…
Before I could continue by horny thoughts, I felt a body press into my back and a hand stretched forward to turn off the tap.
"Don't waste the water, Ish." His spearmint breath hit my ears, and my whole face burned at the small action.
"Hey, um-"
What do I say to him? Should I apologise for breaking off his relationship? Nah, I don't regret doing that. But, what if he does? And hate me forever? No! That's not happening.
"I-I'm sorry." I couldn't look up at him, "For causing your break up. I'm sorry; I didn't want to become a homewrecker. I don't know why I did that. Please don't hate me." Even if I hated Koala, it's not fair to do that. What if I become a sinner? What if everyone hates me after this? I'll probably be alone in sixties, with thirty rabbits. No cats, I'm allergic to them.
I was put out of my self-blaming as Kai turned me around to face him, and lifted my chin to look my pleading face.
"You don't have to apologise. I wanted to break up with Clara for a while now but didn't know how to. Especially since this stupid Hiwatari gala is coming and I need a plus one."
"So you don't hate me?" I asked hopefully, and he chuckled at me.
"I can never hate you, Ish." And without warning, he captured my lips with his. The familiarity of the action sent my mind into haywire. His lips were doing wonders, and I could feel my knees turning jiggly.
I gripped the counter as he pressed his body closer, his hands entangled in my hair. Suddenly the temperature of the room felt like it was rising. I gripped Kai's black jacket, wanting more from this enigma.
Things could've escalated real quickly on the counter, until we heard a clatter and jumped back, realising that Ray was still home.
I quickly drank the water for which I came here originally. It didn't calm down my frenzy nerves but got Kai to look longingly at my lips.
He leaned in and kissed the water residue off my lips. "I wanted to break up, because I fell for you, Ish."
And with a small smile and a wink, he was out of the room.
"Hey, stop calling me Ish!"
New A/N: Whoa, it felt good to rewrite it. And sorry if the elaborated kisses got you uncomfortable, but I guess that's why the rating is T :D
Hope you liked this improved version better :)
And if there are any An Angel's Cry readers here, the last chapter will be uploaded in a week, hopefully.
Till then,
Stay safe,
