Hey guys,

I have really no idea where this short OS is coming from.

It's a bit angsty, since that's all I seem capable of currently...

Please point out any mistakes:)

Greetings, EvannaLy

Glimpse of hope

I take a deep breath. It's late in the evening. In the house of my masters an important dinner takes place tonight. It's about the invasion of a ministry of magic. I forgot from which country, it doesn't matter to me anymore. My own country has lost the war against the Dark Lord a long time ago. Harry Potter, the personfication of hope, he died and left our country in ruins. I was at his side, I stood by him.

I'm Hermione Granger. Harrys best friend, muggleborn, bookworm, best student of Hogwarts. At least that's who I once was. Now I'm a mudblood, a slave, the scum of the earth, a piece of nothing.

Back then, Voldemort divided all mudbloods and blood traitors between his followers, as spoils of war, as a reward. I played an important role during the war, so I was given to important death eaters. I was given to the Lestranges. Bellatrix didn't survive the battle, but Rodolphus and Rabastan married new wives and are fathers to totally three daughters and two sons by now. They are all living together in Lestrange manor.

I leave the kitchen, a plate with the first course of the dinner in my hands. I'm entering the salon. The whole family and their guests are already sitting there. The adults are talking silently, the children are sitting quietly on their chairs. I'm setting the plate onto the table, cowering submissively, next to me three houseelves are doing the same. I'm not really aware of the people around me, why should I care? I'm a slave for three years now, I'll be one for the rest of my life. I'm a houseelf.

I retreat and stand in a corner of the salon, becoming one with the shadows, remaining still. Every time someone wants to drink something or wishes for anything, I'm there at once.

After what felt like eternity the dinner is over. After I start to clear the table I notice the person on the ground, kneeling behind the chair of Lucius Malfoy. It's Ginny. Ginny! Her face is a little sunken, her clothes are dusty and worn-out. It could be worse.

I try to not betray my emotions, but slow down my actions, trying to get more time. It's the first time in three years that I see anyone of my old friends. I'm so relieved, that she's okay! I walk past her and she recognizes me. Our eyes get caught in each other for a short moment. We see all suffering and all the pain we had to endure. And still, as I leave the salon I feel something I thought I had lost forever. Hope! Hope for a better life, for a future!

For the first time since the battle I smile.

Just a really short inside to a darker future...
