Hunk pulled his cookies from the castle ship oven. He had tried his hand at chocolate chip, using earth ingredient substitutes from the space mall and milk that Lance had gotten him from Kaltenecker. The aroma of caramelized space sugar wafted around the kitchen drawing Pidge and Matt from the lounge and into the cooking space.
Pidge's glasses drooped down her nose and she reached for a cookie. Lance slapped her hand with the same speed and force his mother had possessed when his hands groped at too hot cookies as a child in Cuba.
"Ow!" She recoiled. "What'd 'you do that for?" She cradled her hand against her chest.
Lance shed his baking mittens for a jerry rigged spatula that Hunk had made for the purposes of scraping up cookies. "They're awfully fresh, you'll burn yourself."
"Better than having my hand assaulted by your manicured nails."
Lance gave his fingertips a glance of admiration, they were painted blue and red in honor of the blue and red lions. "You're just jealous, I'll do yours if you want."
Pidge stuck her tongue out at him. Lance looked over and noticed that Hunk and Matt were holding an animated discussion about the science of baking with extraterrestrial ingredients and technology. "... and that's why Gatiq eggs work in substitution for chicken eggs with the added plus of no salmonella," Hunk educated Matt.
"Wow Hunk this is all very impressive. Please, teach me your ways!" Matt begged.
"Of course, I'm always happy to depart my knowledge of baking on anyone willing to learn."
Pidge and Lance moved their party to their video game console and gamed for hours as Hunk continued his exploits in the kitchen with Matt by his side..
