Izu walked down the path he usually did on his way home from school, the way he walked every day, alone.

But unlike usual, he wasn't grumbling about his quirk, he was completely silent, solemnly thinking about the words his greatest hero had said to him not one hour earlier.

"You can't become a hero"

Of course it was a bit more complicated than that and it's was more like you shouldn't become a hero, but Izu didn't really notice that, what he did see was that his greatest hero, THE greatest hero, the person he aspired to be like most, All Might… had told him that he couldn't do that.

Two hours ago, Izu had been attacked by a villain made entirely of a viscous sludge-like liquid, he had had no way to fight back, he had had no way to escape.

He would have died.

But All Might saved him! The greatest hero in the world had just happened to be in the area and had sent the villain flying away with a super-human punch and an incredible burst of air-pressure. The hero didn't even need to touch the untouchable villain to defeat him!

When Izu had woken up later –Having obviously fainted from such a traumatising experience- he had found a genuine All Might autograph in the middle pages of his slightly charred hero-notebook and a concerned looking hero picking through his school bag… which was probably why he looked concerned.

Upon waking, the hero noticed him, gave him a short pep-talk and prepared to leave, only to pause at Izu's desperately shouted question and a sneeze which resulted in the activation of his quirk.

The hero suddenly looked a lot less concerned about what was in his bag, but a lot more concerned about the question.

"Is that all your quirk does?" He had asked.

A response in the affirmative had cemented his speech.

"You can't become a hero"

If you want to help, be a police officer or something. That was the gist of it, but the main, and only, point that Izu cared about was that he couldn't be a hero.

When All Might had said that, a person he had looked up to his entire life said that, it was immediately cemented in his mind as fact. But Izu was nothing if not stubborn.

Two hours of thought, one hour of standing and silently staring at the place where All Might had left from and one hour of walking home had thoroughly eroded the cement.

To hell with that! He had suffered through this shit his entire life, people putting him down and telling him he couldn't do what he wanted, couldn't be their friend, couldn't be a hero, couldn't even be normal because of his quirk.

So fuck All Might –Sorry All Might- and fuck everyone else. If there was one decision he was going to make in his stupid life, it was that he- He sneezed. Correction, she, would be a hero!

Izu wiped her nose and began her usual grumbling session before ducking into a nearby alleyway and taking her pants off, leaving her standing in the top half of a uniform, bike-short and long socks with red trainers.

She took her bag off and rummaged through it for a second before pulling out the skirt and female blazer she had packed in there.

"Stupid uniform ruled" She muttered as she replaced her blazer and pulled the skirt on.

Izu almost wished she was still in pre-school where she could were shorts and still look fine no matter what. And because at that age nobody could tell what gender she had been anyway.

Stupid quirk.
