Hey everyone
Here it is, a new chapter. I guess being stuck in your house will give you some time to write some more. So there may be a bit of boom in chapters in a few weeks. I hope you enjoy this time off.
Just a Disclaimer: I do not own the characters or the world they come from. Just the idea of the story
I start my usual routine as soon as I heard the morning announcement. I get up, have a quick shower, get dress, and head down for breakfast. Only a few people are here in the dining hall this time; just Rapunzel, Jack, and Maui. Elsa shows up after I got my breakfast, followed by Pitch.
Unlike the other times we would chat casually, we all just stare at each other. I don't know if the reason behind this is of distrust or nervousness. But it is an unsettle feeling that can make you sick. After a while, Rapunzel and Maui left. I quickly finished my breakfast so I can go on with my day.
My first stop is at Fishleg's cabin. I knock on the door a couple of times to get his attention.
...
...
Again, he doesn't answer. Maybe he's a sleep. He seriously can't be in the library. Not this early.
I try again to only hear the same response...nothing.
I groan as I leave. I might as well check the library.
As soon as I got there, I see a table with over a mile high of book stacks. I look around to see a small spot that could fit a person sitting down. I'm guessing Fishlegs was here last night, and might be sleeping in today.
As a nice person, I should really just let him sleep. But I need to read that book. It may have the answers to my dreams.
I should just go on with the usual until I run into Fishlegs. Yeah, that seems to be the best plan for now.
I went over to the arcade to see if anyone is playing the game, or if anyone is there in general. Man, this place seems to really grab attention. And not just because of the flashy lights or sounds.
But, there's no one here. I look around to see if there was anyone was hidden among the noise and the games. But no, just me.
I walk around until I came across the main game I'm sure everyone has tried. It still looked as big and as flashy as ever. I'm sure by now a lot of us have played it already. Maybe...maybe I should give it a go. If it's within my Ultimate talent, I shouldn't have too much of a difficult time.
But then what if someone came up. I would tense up. And...I would feel a bit embarrassed if someone sees me play this ridiculous thing.
Yeah...maybe not right now.
As I was leaving the arcade, I spot Merida coming down.
"Hey!" I called out to her.
"Oh, hi," she said with a small smile.
"Hi!" A voice came from behind. I look to see Snotlout waving.
I was surprised to see these two together. It was one of those things you'd never thought of. "What are you guys doing?"
"What does it look like? We're trying the game again," Snotlout said with a bit of arrogance. "And this time, I am so going to beat it."
"We'll see," Merida said with a smirk. "I think I got a good balance on my game."
"What about you?" Snotlout said gesturing to me. "Did you play it yet?"
I shook my head. "No."
"Why not?" Snotlout mocks. "Too chicken?!"
"No," I said stepping back. "I just don't like games. Not really good at them either."
I don't really need to tell them about yesterday. All of that was pure luck anyway.
"Its fine I guess," Merida said. "Wanna watch us?"
I nod in acceptance before joining them in the arcade. We walked up to the game and Snotlout basically pushed us aside to get on first. Soon, the dung bell came out with same instructions as before. Snotlout shook his body a bit to prepare himself for the task in hand.
Once he was ready he grabs the weight and lifts it high. The timer starts and it was on. Snotlout held a firm grip and didn't move a muscle. After one minute was up, the cap on one end began to expand. But it didn't trip him up this time, he still held firm in his stance. At the minute-thirty mark, the other end cap expands. Snotlout's elbows bend a bit, but he still kept the weights high.
At the two minute- thirty second mark...that's was when something weird happened. The end caps explode into fireworks. The blinding light and noise of the crackers easily made Snotlout loose balance and drop the bar.
The game went red, and his game was over.
"DARN IT!" He yells in frustration.
"Hey, that further then you were yesterday," Merida comments.
"I should've gotten it!" He continues to yell. "This game is so rigged."
I can see why that is. As far as I know, no one has beaten this thing yet. It seems more like a waste of time for me.
But, nether the less, Merida steps up to the game. It recognizes her name and proceeds to give her the bow and arrow. She then sees the target and the clamps on her feet. The target soon moves in rapid speed as the clamps shake her legs. It took Merida a couple of seconds to keep her upper body still enough to ready her bow. She then holds still for a bit, looking at what's in front of her. After what feels like forever, she takes her shot. It hit the target just one ring shy of the bullseye. The area went red again, and Merida's turn was over.
"Almost there," she said putting the bow back.
"That was so close," I comment.
"Big deal," Snotlout grumbles. "I was closer then you."
"Either way, we're going to have to wait again," Merida comments. The two of them sat down on the floor in self-pity.
She then looked at me, "are you going to give it a try?"
"No thanks," I said backing away, "I'm not really good at games in general. Don't know how it'll be with this thing."
"I guess that's true," Snotlout comments leaning on the wall. "I don't think I've ever seen you play any game."
"I can understand that," Merida said. "Mother would never let me play any games with my brothers. I remember staying up all night with them playing simple board games, hoping mom doesn't catch us."
"That sounds fun," I comment to her. "My dad was always too busy to play games with me, and every time I play, I always get….hatred for some reason." My voice trail off of that memory. I suddenly remember angry faces surround me when I was young. But….I can't remember why. Is it because I was soooo bad at the game, that they were disappointed? Possibly.
I shook my head to get back on topic. "So yeah, I never liked anything competitive."
"Cause you suck at it," Snotlout said to my displeasure.
"I think it's a good thing," Merida said. "I mean…not being competitive. Especially in a place like this. We need someone like you to keep everyone together."
I smile at that comment.
"I used to go the arcade near my house," Snotlout said, "no one could beat my high score."
"I'm sure," Merida said, not really believing him.
"It's true!" He yells.
I believe him, even back then he was competitive to be the best. And if he wasn't, he would bully the kid into giving him the top score.
"Hey guys!"
We all turn to see Rapunzel nearly out of breath.
"What is it?" Merida asks curiously.
"Please don't tell me someone's dead," Snotlout nervously said.
"No," she replies. "But you have to see this."
We chase after her to the dining lodge where everyone was waiting for us, surrounding a single table.
"What's going on?" Merida asks as we join in the circle.
"We were wondering who wrote this," Jack said looking down.
My eyes peer down to see a white piece of paper on the table with words on it. I squint my eyes so I can read it in my head.
'Where mice play behind closed doors...
Come find the king for the knowledge he knows.'
"What the heck is this?!" Snotlout asks out loud.
"That's what we want to know," Maui said.
"Who wrote this?" Elsa asks everyone.
"I don't think anyone can write such lousy poetry," Jack comments. "Not even Snotlout."
"Hey!" Snotlout object.
"Maybe Monokuma wrote it?" Rapunzel suggest.
"If he did…. why a riddle for no one to understands?" I ask.
"Where did you find it?" Merida asks.
"It was nailed to the outside of my door," Pitch answers. "As soon as I found it, I gather everyone here."
"More like asked me to gather everyone here," Rapunzel slides in.
"Are you afraid this is a plot to get you murdered?" Fishlegs asks nervously.
"I don't want to think that," Pitch admits. "But I cannot deny that possibility."
We were all silent for a moment, looking at each other with a nervous thought. Is one of us planning to kill Pitch? And if so, who? And why the note?
"So...what do we do about this?" Jack asks.
"I say we toss it," Snotlout said. "It's a waste of time anyway."
"Yeah," Rapunzel agrees. "No good can truly come out of this."
"We don't even know what this person is talking about," Maui adds.
Though, I can't agree with that. I lean in and study the note. The words 'mice', 'king', and 'closed doors' popped into my head. Making me instantly think to a certain location.
"I think it's talking about the castle on the forth island," I said out loud. "Why though, I don't know."
"There is only one way to find out," Merida adds.
"You're not suggesting we go there," Elsa questions.
"Yes," Merida nods. "That's exactly what I'm saying."
"It could be a trap," Rapunzel said in fright.
"Or it could be someone's murder plan," Pitch adds.
"It won't be if we all go there as a group," I said without really thinking.
Everyone stares at me with either a concern or an angry look.
"I mean, we can keep an eye at each other," I said in a nervous haste. "And whatever happens, we can also keep each other safe."
"You seem somewhat eager to go," Pitch said crossing his arms.
"I...I just what to know what this could be," I said. "It may hold to answers to some questions."
"That's a stretch," Jack said. "But I also think we should see about the note."
"Why?" Elsa asks.
"To put my mind at ease," Jack admits. "If it is a trap for a murder, I want to pick it out before it festers into paranoia."
"I can see that," Fiahleg's said.
"Then...should we do this?" Rapunzel asks.
"If it's a trap, then we can all call it out," Maui said. "If not, it'll be just a small inconvenience. No harm truly done."
"I can agree to that," Elsa said.
"Then we should head there as a group," Pitch said.
We all nod as we take our leave.
It didn't take us very long to get to the castle. Still as majestic as ever. As well as empty. There was nothing here. No sense of a trap or anything.
"Seriously?!" Snotlout complained. "There's nothing here!"
"So the letter was just a waste of time," Maui angry crossed.
"It seems to be," Pitch said. "Sorry about making you all worried for nothing."
"No," Rapunzel said sounding a little relieved. "It's alright. It's ok to be scared about something like this."
Pitch held a stern look, making me a little nervous. He never seemed to be the type of person to get scared. He would most likely scare someone instead.
As a number of people to go console Pitch, I hear something. A creaky noise. I turn my head to see the door of the castle opening up a bit. But...I thought Monokuma locked it.
Curiously, I walk towards the door, which seems to get everyone's attention.
"What is it little man?" Maui asks.
I ignore him to touch the door. I peek around to the other side to see nothing but blackness.
"What?" I gasp as I fully open the door, hoping everyone can see.
"What's going on?" Snotlout asks out loud.
"How'd you get it open?" Merida asks.
"I didn't," I answer as I continue to look it the blacken room.
"What should we do?" Elsa asks uncertain.
"Should we go in?" Fishlegs asks.
"I don't know?" Pitch answers.
Suddenly…. we all here something. A squeak. It made Rapunzel and Fishlegs jump a bit in fright. Then, we heard it again. And again. And again. Coming towards us.
I grip the door nervously as the squeaks became louder and louder.
Then, something white caught my eyes, a small white ball coming towards us. It wasn't long till I realized that the ball was attached to a body. A plus size body that seems to be full of air. It had long arms but stubby legs as it walks towards us. The head had no mouth, but two blinking dots for eyes.
As this 'thing' came closer to us, I can see how small it is. It was no bigger than about half my size. So why...why is it terrifying me.
It sudden stops a couple feet from us and raises its hand. "Hello," I said in a robotic tone.
We all stood silently, unsure what to make of this.
"Do not doodle," it said. "Please close the door."
"Why?" Merida spoke out.
"So to not alarm Monokuma," the robot said. "Please. We have to hurry."
"Wait, who are you?" Jack asks.
"It will have to wait," the robot said turning around. "For now, please follow me at your urgency."
We watch as the robot fades back into the darkness. We then looked at each other, unsure what to do. But then Merida pushes herself to the front and went into the darkness. Then Maui pushed his way too, along with Snotlout and Jack. Elsa went first before me. I figure it might be better to stay with the majority. It wasn't long till the light of the door was behind me. Then there was a bit of light in front of me. It shined down from the ceiling to reveal the other side of the room.
There were a couple of pillars on both sides of the room, (thankfully I didn't bang into one,) a nice rug on the floor with a number of bean bag chairs, and picture hanging on the wall.
I can see a number of people either leaning on the pillars or sitting on the chairs. I decided to stand, makes it easier if I have to make a quick getaway.
Within a few seconds, Rapunzel, Pitch and Fishlegs all came in. I guess they didn't want to be left out of whatever this is.
"We're all here now," Pitch said standing up straight. "So what is the meaning of all this?"
"I am so sorry for the confusion," the robot said. "But I had to make sure Monokuma wouldn't be able to listen to our conversation. I apologize for the inconvenience."
"So who or what are you?" I ask it.
"I am Baymax," the robot answers. "A personalize healthcare robot."
"Baymax?" Rapunzel repeats in confusion.
"I came here to take care of you all," the robot continues.
"And what do you mean by...take care of us?" Fishlegs asks nervously.
"I am to make sure you are all in perfect health," Baymax said. "But I am also here to help you against your oppressor."
"You mean that you're here to help us escape?!" Jack asks.
"Indeed," Baymax nods. "I am quite aware of your situation, and I am here to help in any way possible."
"So can you beat up Monokuma and force him to stop all this?" Snotlout asks with a bit of force.
Baymax closed it robotic eyes and shook his eyes. "I cannot. Monokuma is too powerful to be taken down with force. Which is why I had to construct this meeting without his knowledge."
"I see," Pitch said intrigued.
Make sense, I look around to notice there were no cameras that I can see. So Monokuma can't see or hear what's going on right now. Clever Baymax. Maybe this can give us that bit of hope we need right now.
"But, where did you come from?" Maui asks Baymax.
"I was made by the Ultimate Inventor, Hiro Hamada, and I'm programmed by the Ultimate Programmer, Tadashi Hamada. They, along with the future foundation, sent me here."
"The future foundation!" I nearly yell. "So you know Makoto Naegi!"
"Correct," Baymax said.
I can't believe it. A robot from the future foundation is here. Here to help us.
"I knew they were real," I heard Rapunzel said under her breath.
"So what exactly are they?" Maui asks Baymax. "Are they...the good guys or what?"
"The future foundation an organization, solely committed to maintain Hope," Baymax said. "Their goal is to keep hope in the world, and to not let despair grow."
"Despair," Elsa said downward. "Seems to fit what we're going through right now."
"But...why would anyone do something like this?" Rapunzel asks.
"Maybe we should ask Baymax," Pitch said before turning to the robot. "Do you have any idea who is behind this game?"
Again, the robot shook his head. "No. The future foundation has no knowledge on who is the true mastermind. However, they have a few theories."
"Such as?" Fishlegs asks.
"They could a member of a terrorist group, perhaps one that still values despair? There was also a strong possibility that they might have an Ultimate talent. Maybe it's one of the Ultimate Despairs."
"Ultimate Despair?" Maui said scratching his head. "Is it possible for someone to have that kind of talent?"
"And he said 'despairs'," Pitch said with an uneasy look. "Can it be possible to be more than one?"
"But all this is just theory stuff right?" Jack said. "As of now, you don't have a defining answer."
"No, I do not," Baymax said. "But what I do know is that if I don't figure out how to free you all. The worst may occur."
"What do you mean by that?" Jack asks.
"Your body scans show an increase in heart rate, and brain activity," Baymax explains. "Events like this should be taken with extreme caution and calm serenity."
"Yeah, not going to happen with that bear around," Snotlout said.
"Speaking of the bear, Monokuma is going to be wondering about where we are at this rate," Pitch said.
Yeah, I guess that makes sense. If he can't see us, he might get angry and kill us outta spite. Either way, we better wrap this up.
"Agreed," Baymax said. "I will conclude this meeting, and will write a note of a riddle to meet with you all again."
"It might be smart to change the location too," Pitch suggests.
"Any particular reason for that?" Elsa asks.
"If Monokuma keeps seeing us coming here, he might get wise and find a way to get us not to meet," Pitch explains.
"I see if there are any other locations like this one," Baymax said. "Though it will be difficult."
"Try your best," Maui said with a big smile.
"You too," Baymax said. "Try your best to not fall into despair."
Most of the people nod as they turn to leave. I however is still complex by all of this. How is Baymax here, and now? Can't he use the same way he came in to get us out? I don't want to jump to any conclusions, but it feels like there's something he's not telling us.
"Excuse me."
I look down at Baymax, then all around to see that everyone else is gone.
"You must leave before Monokuma finds you," Baymax said.
But...I want more information. I NEED more information. Maybe...maybe he can at least tell me what's troubling my mind.
"This... Future foundation, they're really looking for us?" I ask uncertain.
"Yes," the robot answers. "They are trying to break you out for some time now. They have made it their mission to help you escape."
"Ok," I said. "One more question though. Does the name Izuru Kamakura mean anything?"
"Yes," Baymax asks. "There are two definitions of the person."
"Two?" I ask.
"One, is the founder of Hope's Peak Academy. Two, was a member of the Remnants of Despair."
"Remnants of Despair?" I ask. Who are they? Is this some kind of new group? Are they the ones trapping us here?
"Hiccup!"
I was so deep in thought; I almost couldn't feel the hand on my shoulder.
I turn my hand slightly to see Jack. "Come on, everyone's already outside."
"You're heart rate is speeding Hiccup Haddock," Baymax said. "I suggest you lie down before taking in any activity."
"But...who?..."
"Come on," Jack said pulling me away, "let's just let Baymax do his thing."
I saw the room and Baymax white body became fainter as we reach the doors of the castle. As soon as we got out, Maui shits the door and everyone was looking at me.
"What took you so long?" Rapunzel asks me worried.
I... I honestly don't know what to say. Should I tell everyone about Izuru Kamakura? Or about this...Remnants of Despair? No, that would only make them worry. We've finally got a glimmer of hope, and I don't want to snuff it out. So...I have to lie.
"I just...was asking if we could really trust him," I said with a small smile. "I asked him a question about when I first saw this group on the computer screen, and he answered correctly."
"Good thing to check I guess," Merida said. Everyone around me nodded, except for Jack and Pitch. I guess they don't really believe me.
"Yeah, we're finally going to get-" Snotlout was silenced by Jack's hand over his mouth.
"Careful what you say," he said, using his other hand to point to the security camera.
"Yeah, I guess we can't talk about all this," Fishlegs said.
"So I think for now, we should address our new friend as B," Pitch said.
"B?" Elsa asks.
"It might be too dangerous to use his real name," Pitch explains. "We now have to consider not only our safety but his as well."
"Yeah," I said. "He might be the best chance we have."
"So, I guess for now, we just have to wait until we hear from him again," Elsa said.
"But how would we know when he is ready to meet?" Rapunzel asks.
"I guess he'll write up another riddle," Fishlegs said.
"In the meantime, we can just relax," Snotlout said. "I'm heading for dinner."
But before he could take one more step...
"HOLD IT!"
Snotlout jump at the sight of Monokuma.
"Wha!" Snotlout screamed.
"Of course," Pitch said placing his hand on his forehead.
"What were you guys doing in the castle?" The bear asks in a menacing tone. "I locked the castle!"
"Really?" Jack said acting dumb. "Cause last I checked, the door was unlocked."
Jack...what are you doing?
"Unlocked? What do you mean unlocked?!" The bear screams.
"Yeah, it was unlocked," Jack said. "So I thought, hey. Let me invite everyone and we can have a bit of a party."
What?
"A...a party?!" Monokuma yells.
"Yeah," Jack said laid back. "Hasn't had one for a while.
He looks at each of us with a pleading look, asking us to play along.
"Yeah," Rapunzel said with a nervous smile. "It was a lot of fun."
"Yeah," Snotlout said. "Too bad you missed all of my sweet moves."
"Come on, I had the better moves," Maui argued with a smile.
"But...what about the mice?" Monokuma said terrified.
"Didn't bother us," Elsa shrugged. "In fact, they were kinda cute."
"C.c.c.c...cute?" Monokuma said shaking. He then groans. "Fine! Whatever! Do your own thing. It doesn't matter! I'm outta here!"
He then disappears as he usually does, giving us time to breathe again.
"That, was close," Rapunzel said almost if she was about to faint.
"Think we've fooled him?" Maui asks.
"Doubt it," I said. "But maybe he's letting it slide-"
"Don't count on it," Pitch said. "We better be cautious for the next time."
"Agree," Fishlegs said.
"Now, can I go and eat?" Snotlout complains as he starts heading back towards the first campsite. Everyone else starts heading back too.
But before I could take off, I was stopped by Jack's hand on my arm.
"Hang on a sec Hiccup," he said as he turns me to face him. "Just what was all that really back there?"
"What do you mean?" I ask, trying to act innocent.
"Don't give me that crap," he said, "I know you really talk to...B, about something else. What did you really ask?"
"Does that really matter?" I ask Jack back. "We can trust him."
"Then why are you hiding your answer?" Jack asks me serious.
That is a good question...why am I trying to avoid this? Jack's my friend, I should just tell him straight up. But...how would he take it? I guess...I don't want him to mistrust me.
"I asked Baymax about something in my dream," I said. "You know the one I told you about the other day."
"Yeah," he said uncertain.
"I asked him, and it just left me more confused."
"What part of the dream?" He asks me with a bit of force.
"A guy," I said, though a little hesitant at first.
"A guy?" Jack stepped back confused.
"I've never met this person before, and yet...it felt like I knew him." I forced myself to sit on the floor of the castle, as I can feel the weight on my brain.
Jack kneeled down to keep me in his view. "Who?"
"Some guy name Izuru," I said. I didn't want to say his last name, not knowing what that could trigger.
"Izuru?" Jack questions. "Never heard of him."
"Yeah, I don't either," I said. "So I try asking Baymax, and he gave me a complicated answer that just confuses me more."
"Maybe it's confusing because it's just a dream," Jack said. "I'm no expert, but maybe it only felt like you knew him because that was just part of the dream."
"Maybe..." I said. "All I know that it keeps gnawing me until I find out who he is."
"Maybe you should do something to take your mind off of it for a bit?" Jack said. He then takes my arm and helps me to my feet. "Maybe go get some food, go to bed, and spend tomorrow with me at the arcade."
"Yeah," I said. "Maybe I should take a break from all this."
"And you heard B, someone is coming to get us," Jack said with an optimistic smile. "Maybe once we do get out, then you can find your answers."
I began to push that thought into my mind. Maybe thinking about Izuru Kamakura is just a waste of time. I should focus more about keeping my friends safe so we can all leave this place. Together.
"You're right, thanks Jack," I said with a smile.
"Hey, what are friends for?" Jack said slapping me in the back. "Now come on, I'm starving."
I smile as we both leave to go to the dinning lodge, with a new goal and some hope in our heart.
"Izuru..?"
"What could Hiccup be talking about?"
"He can't mean Izuru Kamakura?"
"What does he have to do with him?"
"Just...what are you hiding Mr. Haddock?"
"If this is indeed part of your game, I cannot allow it to happen."
"I will protect my class, even if it means killing them myself."

You know what I don't get? I don't get how many holidays center on animals. There's one about a groundhog popping his head outta a hole. A bunny that leaves behind chocolate eggs for some reason. There's even a holiday about a bird, and then you eat that bird. What about a holiday for bears? How about one day a year, bears roam around and slash at people. Sounds like fun, right?
