Don't Leave Me With This Monstrosity

"With pills I'm fine, they coat my mouth… Made room for guilt, so slow my thoughts. Hold me now, leave me unwell. We don't talk no more, but love you no less…"

Link waited. It was all he did. He pressed his tanned face against the stone before him, the stone that could've ended his misery.

He hoped, he prayed. Each moment felt like a passing day in the heat. The goddesses may have blessed him with her presence once, but he now loathed them for stripping her away from him.

Midna.

She was his devil, his sins. The imp, the woman, the monster he so dearly loved.

Who he now missed.

Who he now craved.

He longed to hear her sarcasm, each painful, stinging word. To see her before him; a blessing unlike any other.

To feel her touch, a silky, calm movement he remembered from long, painful nights.

Link's face became cold and sore on the stone, his breath dried from his uttering, and hunger tore at his stomach.

He wouldn't leave…

Not without Midna.

Midna prayed. Prayed harder than she ever had. She watched Link quietly from her castle, seeing his pained existence, feeling it tear at her heart. The image rested in her hands, though she wished it could've been his real hand in her palm.

Why did she leave him?

Eight letters, three words. "I love you," was all she needed to say.

But she didn't. She couldn't. She can't.

A longing, a lust, a burning passion fueled her to call out to the figure in her palms. She knew he couldn't hear her.

Liquid sorrow spilled from her crimson sockets.

Shining tears had stained her clothes for months, tainting her floors, her bed, her eyes.

Where did Midna go? Where was the imp?

Where was her heart?

"I'm a long, I'm a long way… I'm a long, I'm a long way from where you are…"
