Whatever You Want

Chapter 12: The Return

Author's Note: Holy crap, when was the last time I updated this story? Back in 2018? Dear God, it's been a long time. Sorry about that.

Just when things seemed like they couldn't get any worse for our heroes, specifically Midoriya and Momo, they got worse in this apocalypse-like hell. Tomura Shigaraki has now shown up, probably up to no good as usual. This made Midoriya and Momo instantly get into their fighting stances, being on guard.

"Shigaraki!" Midoriya yelled, now getting geared up for a possible fight. "If you've come to mess with us again, then you're in for a-!"

"Relax," Shigaraki said, shaking his head as he could only sigh. "I'm not here to fight you."

"And you expect us to believe you, why?" Momo retorted, venom being in her voice. It wasn't out of line, given all the times that Shigaraki has tried to kill them so far.

"I expect you to believe me, because not only do I have not much of a choice, but you all don't have much of a choice either." Shigaraki realized that he would have to explain further, and so he would. He extended his arm out, referring to all the destruction that has happened in the world so far. "These creatures… Whoever and whatever the heck they are, need to be stopped immediately. What's the point of a league of villains when there's no world to be a villain on?" he explained, making Midoriya raise his eyebrow.

"What are you trying to say…?" he asked, his look still not changing.

"What I'm trying to say is this; let's call it a truce. You guys clearly aren't beating this threat alone, and my team isn't going to beat this threat alone either. The only way we win this war now, whether you like it or not, is to join forces. At least, for the time being, of course. After we win the war, then things can go back to normal."

"No way!" Momo replied, not trusting Shigaraki one bit. "How do we know this isn't another one of your tricks?! For all we know, you could be the entire reason for why this invasion is happening!"

"Do you honestly think I have that much power at my disposal?" Shigaraki could only chuckle creepily. "While I am flattered, my response is that I don't have a random alien army that's decided to attack the planet. If you think I do, then that's your problem, but anyone with a working brain can see that I'm not the cause of this."

Momo was about to clap back at him for the 'working brain' comment, but Midoriya stopped her before she could go any further. He would look at her, then look at Shigaraki. The more he thought about it, as much as it hurt him to say this, but Shigaraki was right. They were not doing well at all when it came to stopping this threat. People were getting murdered, they were losing friends left and right, and considering what recently happened to him with Bakugo's mother… Yeah, something needs to change.

Something needs to change quickly before it's too late.

Midoriya looked at the ground, closing his eyes as he took a deep breath. He would open them and look directly at Momo.

"He's right."

Momo was taken back by this, still not trusting Shigaraki. "Midoriya, what are you saying?! Do you honestly trust him after everything he's done to us?!"

"No, I don't trust him, but considering the situation we're in right now, trust shouldn't be the issue. He's right in saying that we don't have much of a choice, because look at what's happened so far when we've tried to do everything alone up to this point." Midoriya reminded Momo, causing her to slump a bit.

"The only way we can get out of this is if we all work together. Shigaraki has some powerful guys that could really help us out right about now, and the way I look at it, we need all the powerful guys we can get." Midoriya told her, Momo's look becoming serious. They both looked back at Shigaraki, then back at each other.

As much as she hated to admit it, both Midoriya and Shigaraki were right. She would look at Midoriya, her disapproving yet approving face showing at the same time. I guess that's the best way to describe her emotions right now, given that she hates this plan, but knows that they have no other options.

The only other reason that she would go along with this is she would trust Midoriya's judgement. Obviously, she didn't trust Shigaraki, but she did trust Midoriya.

With reluctance in her tone, she would say, "I'll go along with whatever you think is right."

Midoriya smiled at Momo putting her faith in him when it came to this decision. "Thanks." He said sweetly, Momo smiling back at him.

With all of that being said, Shigaraki made an 'ahem' sound to get their attention. "I'm glad that you both are able to think logically about this situation." He told them, looking around at the destruction once more. Good grief, this dude was a villain and he may even consider this a bit overkill.

"Gather your friends and meet up at U.A. High. I'll get my team, and once we're all together, then we can discuss a plan to end this war." He told them, now beginning to walk away. That's when Midoriya's voice would make him stop in his tracks, though.

"Don't try anything funny, Shigaraki!" He was giving a warning to the villain, as Shigaraki could only creepily laugh once more.

"Oh don't worry, the funny business won't happen until after we get these creeps off our planet." Ending on that note, that's when Shigaraki would finally leave, leaving Midoriya and Momo alone.

They were both silent, until Midoriya broke the silence. "Momo, there's been something I've been wanting to tell you."

This caught her attention. "What is it?"

"Before all of this chaos happened, and even while it's happening, you've always had my back. You may consider it a little thing with what you just did, but allowing Shigaraki to help us because you believe that I know what's best… It lets me know how much faith you truly have in me." He began, Momo blinking at the mini speech.

"Not only that, but in my roughest moments, you've inspired me to overcome my obstacles and become a better person. You were there for me when my mom died. You were the one that inspired me to keep pushing even when I felt like all was lost." Midoriya eyes were starting to water up a bit as he was speaking. He wasn't fully crying, but you could tell that these past events have had a major effect on him.

"We've become really close, which is why when I saw you covered in blood… I was losing my mind. I thought that… You know…" Midoriya didn't want to speak of the word death when it came to Momo, because words were indeed powerful. He's realized that more than ever. His speech was making Momo get quite emotional as well, as now she was getting teary eyed.

"I guess what I'm trying to say is… Thank you." Midoriya finished, now suddenly hugging Momo. Momo's face initially went bright red, not expecting Midoriya to suddenly hug her like that. But, it would only take a few seconds for her to ease up, hugging Midoriya back tightly.

"You're trying to make me cry, aren't you?" Momo asked, not wanting to let go of Midoriya in this moment. Truth be told, Midoriya didn't want to let go either.

With his friends being who knows where, the death of his mom, and with the death of Bakugo's mom Mitsuki now on his hands, this dude might be an emotional wreck.

Luckily, he had Momo to help him, but she might be an emotional wreck at this point as well.

Ah screw it, at least the two of them can understand each other because of that.

"It's not my intention to make you cry, I swear," Midoriya confirmed, the two separating from the hug and started holding hands. The funny part about this is that their bodies looked like they had gone on autopilot, not knowing that they were currently holding hands.

When they realized what was going on with their hands, Momo and Midoriya quickly stopped it, the two of them now looking away in embarrassment as biggest blushes could be seen on their faces.

Midoriya cleared his throat, wanting to turn this situation around and get away from the awkwardness. "So, uh… Find our friends?"

Momo quickly nodded, her adrenaline showing. "Yep! Find our friends!" she replied, her tone being embarrassed. They would start walking together, trying to find their friends as they also tried to avoid eye contact for the time being.
