Hello everyone. Thank you all so much for the reviews and support, I hope you enjoy this chapter. Let's do this.
Hippolyta was nervous, very, very nervous. It wasn't something she was used to, but she had to admit that this was happening more and more lately and of course she knew why. Kal-El, that man was slowly destroying the relationships she had with the two most important things in her life. Diana and Donna, her daughter's, in one day she nearly lost both of them and it was because of him. Not only did he stop her from ridding her family of that man who impregnated Donna, who stole her innocence, who turned her against her family. Even after that, he told Diana about who her father was, forcing her to revile the truth. Something she never wanted to do, now the relationship with her first daughter was in shambles as well.
Well… maybe all hope wasn't lost, but even then. Hope came with a price, and the prices name was Kal-El. Diana was willing to give her a chance, a real chance to explain herself to her but in order to do that she needed to help Kal-El with some creature 'Gods why was this man being a constant presence in my life?' she thought to herself.
This is what led to where she was now, standing in a large open field with Phillipus by her side and well over three hundred over her amazon sisters in full armor and battle-ready status behind her in perfect formation. It never hurts to be prepared after all. She knew that most people would think the idea of swords and arrows to fight someone with Kal's level of power laughable, but she was a little smarter than that, all of the weapons that her sisters posed where magically enhanced. Though it is true that even then she was unsure if it would work, it did make her feel better, even if just barely.
It was just a few moments later when she saw a bright thin white line appear in the air just a few meters away from her. If she where to guess she would say it was magic but knowing that the timing was right, there was no doubt this was some sort of technology Kal-El seemed to have. She shouldn't be surprised, after all she was at the U.N when he showed the world what he was going to do in exchange for letting him live here without provocation from the people. Hippolyta did have to admit it was clever, she didn't believe for a minute that Kal was doing this out of the goodness of his heart. Not for a second.
She knew Kal's type, she's seen it more times then she cares to admit. He was a fighter…. No, not a fighter. A solider, his life has known war and only war. That type of upbringing turns someone into a particular type of person, it gets rid of the feelings and emotions that make a person a…. Well, a person. It's one of the reasons she can't help but respect him. Because she can also tell from what she's seen so far that the type of war he was in has turned him into just that, a solider. Not a monster, not a rapist, not a warmonger. Just a solider, a man she wished all men would be like. Someone who keeps his emotions in check, someone who doesn't rape or pillage, someone who only cares about the mission.
Being honest with herself that was the only reason why she wasn't spending so much time worrying about whether or not he and Diana where as close as she was with that Trever pilot. Thankfully she can take the time to shy in relief as she was certain that would never happen. If it did, well that was a whole other rabbit hole she didn't want to think about.
"your grace" Phillipus said but she didn't have to. Hippolyta saw it, the line grew outwards creating something similar to a door way.
A smile came on her lips at the sight of Diana walking through "Diana" she smiled.
"mother" she calmly said back as she crossed her arms, she glanced over Hippolyta's shoulder to the sight of the small army fit for a skirmish "are sisters can leave. Their weapons will only make it more scared and agitated"
"you should know better princess" Phillipus said as her hand gripped the weapon tighter "we cannot leave our queen undefended"
"she won't be defenseless, I'll be here" Diana's voice became as tense as hers, it was clear that neither where going to step down and a fight seemed to be on the way.
"Diana, they stay. I trust you but that doesn't mean I trust him" Hippolyta's voice turned from the mother she was to the queen she needed to be.
"very well" a new voice sounded, coming from behind Diana. Every Amazon tensed at the sound "but I should warn you, it will make what happens next much harder" Kal-El stepped through the gateway in his unarmoured suit "but it's your decision"
It went without saying that his very presses put every Amazon on edge at the sight of the alien "yes, it is" she said back sternly "and I intend to keep it that way"
"so be it" he turned around and looked at the still open gateway "though I do recommend that you and your force take a few paces back as we don't want him to feel crowded" he lifted his arm up and waved it to the side, as he did the gateway grew in size and on the other side she could see an artic wasteland, just snow and ice.
"he's right mother" Diana moved forward towards them "AMAZONS!" she shouted "MOVE BACKWARDS, TWENTY PACES" they didn't do it at first of course but as Hippolyta herself turned around and started to move, the others did as well.
As Kal glanced over his shoulder, he couldn't help but be impressed by the Amazons coordination. They seemed to be in perfect sink which each other, every step creating an echo that would be heard a mile away. For a brief moment his eyes caught sight of Diana as she stood still with her arms crossed where the queen was standing, they looked at each other and Diana gave him a small smile, it was so little but he made Kal feel a lot more confident about what they were doing.
Once the amazons stopped moving and the gate was big enough Kal floated up about five meters into the air and hovered quietly for a moment. He turned around and looked down to Diana, he lifted his hand to her gesturing for her to come forward to him. She did and flew up into the sky next to him "are you sure this is a good idea?" he asked her before glancing at the woman army "they don't seem very at ease with the situation"
"you can't be surprised" she calmly said back "you've always had the ability to put the Amazons on edge, but you can rest assured. No matter how they feel, they're disciplined enough to do as they're told"
He couldn't help but believe her, after all they were in her land, she knew it far better than he did and that goes for the people as well "ok, I hope they can keep calm as you know the H'raka's new form is quite intimidating"
Diana reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder, not taking into account that every Amazon including her mother could see and frowned at the sight "try not to worry, you focus on making sure the H'raka is calm and collected while it explores it's knew home. I'll worry about any retaliation"
Kal found a rare smile appearing on his face as he looked at her "thank you" he said before floating closer to the portal "Di Kur Gof Ofe!" he shouted through the portal. There was no sound for a moment before a small rumbling could be heard from the other side.
Knowing what was about to happen next, Diana turned around a floated over towards her sis... no the Amazons, she didn't even know if they were her sisters anymore "calm down!" she yelled to everyone "readying your weapons will only make things worse" as she was looking down at the people she grew up with, she breathed a sigh of relief as they seemed to calm down but that lasted for only a few seconds before Diana heard the familiar sound of an animalistic roar that brought a small smile to her face. Unfortunately, the smile left her face as quickly as it arrived as every Amazon unsheathed their weapons and stood in a full battle-ready stance.
"RRRROOOOAAAARRRR" turning around she could see the H'raka now standing tall, completely through the portal which was now closed. Its eyes saw the people it didn't know but when it looked at the weapon being pointed at him, he started to panic. Kal was floating in front of him waving his arms trying to calm him down as best he could but he was failing.
The H'raka's massive legs carried the creature side to side as it continued to roar and snap its mouth at the army in front of him "READY YOUR ARROWS!" Phillipus shouted, now in her complete battle-ready General voice. At the back layer of the forces three rows of archers all in perfect synch took a sideways stance, pulled and arrow out of their quivers and took aim.
Seeing what was happening, the H'raka took a strong stance, digging its massive claws into the dirt, spreading out its wings and to anyone looking its chest began to glow with powerful orange color. Diana's eyes widened as she knew what was about to happen next, she saw Kal's hands close into fists looking like he was about to punch the large alien creature in order to protect the Amazons "AMAZONS, STAND DOWN!" the voice of Hippolyta shouted out through the chaos. She didn't know if it was going to work but the pause and hesitation, she saw the Amazons have was enough for her to make her choice for her.
Quickly turning around she flew straight towards the H'raka. Kal was on the one side of his face give Diana enough room to get closer, without hesitating she wrapped her arms around the right side of its face and placed her face right in front of his eye "Dii fol, kuram erd" she said calmly, remembering what it means when Kal took her to the sanctuary. With both her and Kal there on either side of him, it seemed to be doing a well enough job of calming him down "I know you're afraid but it's going to be ok" she whispered to him while at the same time increasing her animal affinity.
The H'raka let out one final timid noise before gently lowering itself onto its stomach, though the two didn't leave its side until its head rested against the ground on top of its large claws much like a dog or a cat. Kal lingered but Diana quickly went back over to the army and shouted "WHAT DID I JUST SAY!?"
"Diana, you cannot be surprised" Hippolyta said taking a step forward as Diana lowered herself back to the ground "when you said he needed us to house a creature we were expecting something the size of horse or a carriage" her eyes went by to the creature, she frowned and her voice became more agitated "not something half the size of the palace" she took a step forward as Kal turned around and started to move towards her as well. She stopped in front of her daughter while Kal stood a few feet behind her looking at the queen with a... what seemed to be a concerned expression "we aren't prepared to look after something this large. We would run out of food within the week, teach it not to try and eat us when it goes hungry and clean up its... waste"
"you won't have to worry about that" Kal said taking an extra step forward getting the queens attention "the H'raka doesn't need to eat, he feeds on the sunlight, since he doesn't eat, he won't leave any waste to clean up and he's extremely intelligent. As long as you don't harm him, he won't you. You make it clear you'll look out for him and protect him, he'll even defend you from threats" his voice as always was extremely calm and collected.
"you'll forgive me if I don't take your word to heart Kal-El" her words spat venom and Kal's head tilted to the side in confusion.
"have I not done enough to earn what you humans call 'the benefit of the doubt?'" he asked.
Hippolyta turned her body to face him with a look of disgust "the man who single handedly ruined my relationships with both my daughters? No, you haven't earned that" she snarled but the words hadn't had the desired reaction in Kal.
"Mother!" Diana yelled in anger but as she did the H'raka seemed to sense it and began to stand up, it's massive feet leaving marks in the ground as it stepped closer "Kal doesn't have anything to do with our relationship. I was hurt to find out Donna had lied to us about her relationship with my colleague. I'm still hurt because of it and I am still beyond angry with her because of it, but Kal had nothing to do with that, he was only there because Donna asked him to be there. Yes, he told me about my father but you should have told me about that the second I was old enough to know what that meant. You have no right to keep that from me"
"I'M YOUR MOTHER!" Hippolyta shouted at the top of her lungs, the shock of the calm and stoic queen losing it caused Diana to take a step back and Philipus gave her a sideways glance. Though Kal's face didn't change in the slightest, as if he knew what she was going to do "I have the right to keep whatever I deem necessary from you so long as it means you're safe and you would never have been safe" her voice started to get low so not everyone could hear her as only a small select few Amazons knew about Diana's parentage, though knowing how smart her sisters where she knew she needed to give them something. So, she let a few carefully made rumors make their way into the population, within the week every Amazon thinks that Diana is the offspring of a man that Hippolyta found when she left the island to inspect man's world herself and not the child of Zeus. Of course, that did a lot of damage to her reputation and as a ruler she took a hit but at least Hera wasn't going to come and kill them all in a wave of rage.
"I understand that. I really do" Diana's voice softened but the anger in her gaze stayed the same "but I needed to know, you shouldn't have kept this from me" that was the hardest part of all of this. Diana knew, she really did know that her mother did what she did because she wanted to keep her safe but even then, despite all of this Diana couldn't stop that pit of anger that was swelling in the bottom of her stomach, she just couldn't stop it.
Before Hippolyta could say anything else the H'raka slowly took a step forward and positioned itself right in the middle of Kal and Diana, with another step its large head lowered until it was right in front the Amazon queen. The closer it got the more on edge people seemed to be, Kal and Diana got a little worried because Diana saw the power behind his fire/energy beam attack first hand and Kal took it to the face. No way would the queen survive that. The Amazons slowly started to draw their weapons ready to defend their queen but said queen slowly gestured with her hand for them to stop. The H'raka stopped once his face was right in front of the woman, very slowly Hippolyta reached out and placed her hand flat on the snot of the animal.
A few moments after a tense silence, the large animal pulled away and rose to its full height completely towering over the women worriers. With one final tilt of the head and an intense look of the eyes the H'raka spread its large wings and flapped them creating powerful gusts of wind that almost knocked a hand full of woman off their feet, with three flaps his feet where off the ground and everyone watched in amazement as he flew over their heads and towards the large mountain peak at the south end of the island.
Kal and Diana both smiled as it's large craws landed on the icey peak, spreading it's wings he let out a loud roar that was heard from every corner of the island "your majesty" Kal said as he started to hover off the ground "if you look after him, not only will he return the favor in his own way but I will help you should you ask for it in the future" he turned without a word and shot up into the sky with a sonic boom following soon after.
Diana looked down and sighed knowing that this was going to be a hard conversation. She started to walk forward not even being noticed by the Amazons who all still stirred at the H'raka who has his held high overlooking the island and landscape, she stopped side by side next to Hippolyta "come on" she said as the queen turned to look at her "let's talk" she didn't wait for a reply and headed for the palace.
23rd February: All the news outlets that where present during the Gala have released their stories and articles about the Sky Trench to the world and the people rejoice at the news of having the first real planetary defense.
14th April: After a lot of convincing and almost begging, Lois Lane is allowed to release an article detailing what she and Jimmy Olsen overheard Princess Donna say. Once the article goes out, the Themysciran embassy is practically attacked by the press who almost demand an answer to the question. Princess Diana does her best to keep them at bay, though still not being on talking terms with her sister, does not want Donna to be ridiculed the way she is or for added stress to do damage to the unborn child. Despite her best efforts she isn't able to do much to quell the tied.
After days of thinking it over princess Donna releases a statement that confirms that she is indeed pregnant. Of course, that becomes the topic of discussion for everyone to talk about. Barry does everything he can to make life easier for her and after thinking about it for a while decides to take off from the league in order to focus on her better. Lois Lane becomes one of the most hated civilians in the eyes of the league.
1st June: Kal-El goes on a tour speaking to dozens and dozens of earth scientists, professors and historians, telling them all about Krypton, its history, its philosophy, etc. That was the first time Kal has ever felt a pain in his throat that was caused from nothing but talking. During those talks Kal mentioned his idea of uniting the earth even further by combining every country within a continent into a single government and since Antarticia is uninhabited. The world would have a total of six leaders.
Later, Kal's goes on to explain that the human race would need an organization who primary goal is to represent, protect and serve the human race in an intergalactic setting. Debates begin to decide how best what that organization would be. And debates began to intensify once Kal states that at the moment the closest thing the human race had to that was the justice league itself. The people where not happy with the idea of a group of hero's representing them.
15th July: Diana tells the League that Kal has requested membership within the organization, it caused a massive rift to form within the League as they couldn't agree on a cause of action, Diana was the largest figure in favor for allowing him to join and Batman was the largest figure against him joining, it wasn't lost on the League members that it was primarily the none powered humans and a handful of powered ones that sided with Batman, but there wasn't a single alien who was against it. After a week of long debates and discussions it was agreed that Kal-El would not become full-fledged member right off the bat.
Instead he would start as a probationary member of the League, as his attitude towards killing and the unchanging solider like stance on life caused many of the Leaguers to pause at fighting beside him. In order for him to fight beside him Kal had to agree to follow the tenets of the League and go on missions without his deadly sword and to make sure he was healthy mentally; he would be required to meet him Dinah Lance for therapy session once a month as she was the only Leaguer with a degree in psychology. When told of the conditions Kal paused for five seconds before he deemed that they were fair and agreed to them.
30th August: The Sky Trench is completed by Kal and inspected by a selected group of scientists to make sure of the intention and after they passed humanities inspections, all Sky Trench satellites are launched and begin their service protecting planet Earth. As thanks to Kal-El, the human race grants Kal planetary citizenship. Allowing him the same rights and privileges of any other human depending on the country he is in. For the moment the U.N has decided that the Justice League will be in temporary control of the defense system while they decide where the planetary control will be placed.
Present Day: 1st September
Watch-Tower
"Now, overlay the relays here and here" Kal said laying on his back underneath the newly installed control panel within the Watch-Towers control room, both his arms where in the air holding up a massive multi-ton piece of machinery while next to him Cyborg was doing as he was told as Kal was instructing him how to install the new control and radar panel for the Sky Trench.
"oh, I get it" Cyborg said "when they overlap with each other they'll be stuck in a power loop increasing the more it's powered preventing it from being blocked out from an outside force" he said finishing the instructions "ok, I think we're done"
He crawled out from under the machine as Kal set it down "I agree" as he typed on the terminal and soon enough the whole thing began to power up.
"good work you two" Diana said with a smile of her face as she stood in the middle of them on an upper platform in the main atrium of the space station. Underneath them was the main lobby filled with other hero's all doing their own thing "shall we turn it on?" she asked turning to face Kal.
He gave her a small smile and gestured to a small button on the console "it's your world, only seems fair for you to do it"
Diana smiled back and kissed him on the cheek before turning to the console and pressed the button. She received a few odd glances from her fellow leaguers after the action but she chose to ignore them, unlike Barry and Donna she didn't hide anything about who she was romantically involved with. Walking forward to the newly installed console before she chuckled slightly "I take it that the button to active this is the big red one" she asked looking down the larger button in the middle of the console.
Kal nodded at her with a smile, looking out the large window, she couldn't help but smile knowing that this beautiful world would finally get the piece it deserves. With a quick breath she pushed the button "All Justice League members be advised" an automated voice said from the station's speakers "Sky Trench is now activating" around the station, everyone who was near a window looked out over towards the planet below. Diana herself couldn't help but look also, she could see that one by one a bright blue light pinged all around the Earths atmosphere, from where she stood, she could only see five but she knew that the others where all spread around out of her view.
A few seconds later, a bright blue beam shot out from each satellite and landing on each other. From the outside of the station it could clearly be seen that a Dodecahedron had formed around the planet. A small smile appeared on her face as she saw what appeared to be a thin outline of blue fill in the large gaps inside the lines and over the station trapping them under the shield. Kal took that moment to stand beside her "and there you have it. Complete planetary defence, it'll take thirty-one minutes until it's shield strength is one hundred percent" Diana smiled at him before wrapping a hand around his waist and pulling him closer towards her. He smiled back at her and wrapped his own arm around her shoulder holding her close.
"and I'll be here watching very closely when it does" Cyborg said turning to face the couple with a small smile on his face "once the U.N decides what places need what weather, I'll program the satellites to do what they need to do" it went without saying that Kal needed to teach some league members to use the Sky Trench accurately and of course ninety percent of the league said Victor would be the best choice though Batman was concerned reminding everyone how he was easily taken over by his ship last time but Kal assured everyone that his ship and the terminal operate with different technology. Yes, the satellites themselves where Kryptonation tech and would have the same defense his ship did but the terminal that operates them from was completely human, just slightly upgraded.
"I'm glad someone would be" Kal said nodded towards the terminal "and Kelex will be on standby if you require assistance" as its name was said, a small holographic image of Kelex appeared hovering over the terminal.
"of course master, I will be available whenever Victor Stone requires assistance" it quickly said before disappearing.
Kal turned his head and kissed the top of Diana's own "excuse me, I have a meeting with miss Lance. Once done I shall meet you in the hanger?" he asked.
She smiled back at him brightly before nodding "that's sounds like a plan" her smile became even brighter when he leaned down to give her a quick kiss before turning and heading down into the station. She gave a happy sigh watching him leave, they'd been openly dating for four months now and so far, it's been going very well between them. Diana just felt so comfortable being around him, just being in his arms made her feel safe.
But that wasn't what she's been thinking about lately, when she and Kal spend time alone she's noticed how her body has become a lot more... well what's the best way to put this... sexually charged, she rolled her eyes. Why did she always have to be so formal? Even to herself, she was turned on, horney, she was sure there was a dozen names for what she was feeling.
She may be a virgin but she wasn't a fool, she was falling for Kal. Whether this was love or just a deeper connection than what she already felt. What she did know was that the more time she spent with Kal the more she thought that making love to him and becoming his life mate seemed more and more appealing. She shook her head trying to calm herself, Diana was forced to remained herself on daily basis that to him this wasn't just making love or sex or fucking, it was marriage, it was becoming his wife. Not that she found the idea an impossibility, being honest with herself she could easily believe that they would get married one day, just not yet, she would need more time until she agreed to do this with him. And that wasn't even considering what Kal himself thought about the idea, for all she knew he could take even longer to come to terms with this than she would, after all he's been married before and lost the woman he loved. She could easily understand why he wouldn't want to rush in and start loving someone again.
Bringing her mind back to the present she realized that she had an hour to kill until she left with Kal, not knowing what else to do she simply headed for her quarters to take a shower and see if any news channels have realized that the satellites are active yet. She did need a shower though, after all she wanted to look nice for what she had planned for Kal and herself tonight, she was really looking forward to having some alone time with him for the first time in weeks.
Ok guys, first thing is that I'm really sorry for the long wait on this chapter but I've been really busy with work and my other stories but don't worry I have a plan. I think some of you know this but I only plan for this chapter to have three or four more chapters before he come to the end of this story. Which is also why it's taking so long to end because I've been trying really hard time find the besting I could think of. Also wanted to let you all know that the next few chapters are planning to be just as short as this one in order to bring them out faster until the final chapter which will be longer. I know that's not what some of you want to hear...….read? doesn't matter, the point my other stories are becoming a priority for me and I don't want to end this story without finishing it so that's why it may seem a little rushed.
Anyway let me know what you all think in the reviews and I'll see you all in the next chapter.
Di Kur Gof Ofe = Come through, towards my voice
