Chapter 9

They had all met Gods and Goddesses before, that was a given considering their parents were exactly that. Percy had never been 'nervous' to meet a God as such, he wasn't nervous or scared about the fact they were these immortal beings, maybe a little nervous at the fact Zeus wanted him dead and so did others, but that was definitely a different nervous. He had been nervous when meeting Athena after he and Annabeth had finally become couple, it was like going to meet what possibly could be a future in law, which is perfectly normal to get a bit anxious at, normal mortals got nervy about it so he was no different to them really, he tried to reassure himself with that notion. Meeting his father for the first time, Percy will admit he was nervous over this. It wasn't because it was the Poseidon that he was meeting, but because it was his dad, whom he had never really known anything about until he had turned 12.

Percy was anxious to meet Keion; he knew he was. He knew the others were to some degree as well. Fighting monsters, meeting Gods and Goddesses, taking down a Titan or Giant, quests; these were a normality for all of them. Finding out about a whole chunk of history that had been deleted, finding out there was another Olympian originally, finding out you have another brother, now that was shocking. Not something that happened to them before. This God was a mystery to all of them, they didn't know what he was like in any aspect. Would he be cruel like other Gods? What about arrogant? Maybe he'd fight them. Or he could be laid back like Apollo, or a prankster like Hermes?

Those questions whizzed through all of the groups' heads as they were sailing towards their destination. They hadn't been given much intel from those who knew him, before they left. Most of the Olympians had taken it upon themselves to basically hibernate away from the demigods with this quest. The only real source they had was Chiron, but he spoke of a man that he knew centuries ago. People change. Thalia and Annabeth knew that better than any of them. Thalia's thoughts were cynical towards this new God, pessimism always finding a way into her thoughts. That and being with the Hunters for so long did give her a view that did distaste some males, but not without giving them a chance beforehand. Although, the creeping assumption of what she knew about Gods did cloud her judgement slightly. She had yet to meet a pleasant God that didn't flirt and didn't have tons of demigods with women from pretty much everywhere. The big three didn't have so many children but that was due to them giving their word on the river Styx. Not that that stopped them. Thalia honestly wouldn't be surprised if Zeus, her father, already started having children with mortals again. She respected the Gods even with their habits, well some of the Gods she respected, when actually talking to them they weren't so bad sometimes.

Annabeth was weary. Keion had rather large domains, an indication on why he was also an Olympian, and that made him dangerous. They were on his turf so to speak, heading towards the cold of the North. However, there was a large part of her that knew they would be safe, a gut feeling as Percy would call it, but the logic in her head told her that Keion was a God of Heroes, he wouldn't harm them. The relation between him and Percy also helped ease her thoughts, if he were truly loyal as she knew he had to be, he wouldn't harm his father's son. His brother.

For the son of Hades, judgement of a soul came easy. His father seemed to trust this Keion so his trust should be the same. He already figured out a portion of the story behind this banishment, through the dead, they visited him in his dreams, as morbid as that sounded. They told him bits and pieces, enough for him to piece something together, not that he had told the others of it yet. Without the whole story he didn't see the point in giving them his hypothesis, only when he had all the facts would he make his opinion. A broken soul was something he could relate to; Keion had been isolated for years, something Nico could sympathise with.

On the other side of the coin, Jason was silently begrudging Keion, he had been banished for a reason. The Olympians wouldn't banish an innocent. The quest to him was slowly becoming more pointless as they carried on in this hopeless search for a God that they didn't know where to look for. Jason didn't show his distaste for finding Keion, he knew Percy was excited to meet his brother. So, the son of Jupiter kept his mouth shut.

Keion knew they were close, once they got off the boat, they were only an hour walk away from him. Overall, they couldn't be more than 3 hours away. He hadn't associated with heroes in so long, he worried he would not remember how to. He used to be practiced in easing minds of the demigods, to know their fears, hopes and dreams. Now he didn't know what to do. It seemed stupid to him, a god, being so nervous to meet people who he knew other gods would class as being beneath him. But it was never like that for Keion, half-bloods were like his children when he guarded the camp. Percy, Thalia, Jason, Nico, Annabeth. These were strangers to him compared to the children of the Gods he once knew. They would be similar to those he knew, how could they not be, all children of a God or Goddess carried a characteristic about them that always made them like their parent. However, he never liked to assume they would be like their parents, he always wanted to know the young half-bloods better than just the surface knowledge, it was one of the many things that separated him from the other Olympians. It was never enough for him to just know the demigod was a hero because of some deed they once performed, everything that they were made them act in such a way, whether the act was out of courage to protect their friend or greed for glory. There were always more than just stories for Keion. He was the God of Memories, it held the history of all time, to know everything personally made it something he blessed as a gift rather than a curse that he once viewed his domain as.

This banishment, it wasn't completely horrible he had to admit, he had learnt much on his own in boredom. Enhancing and exploring the domains in which he controlled, finding new skills he would never have thought of had he not been banished. The first few decades had been bad, when he wallowed in his self-pity, he needed a purpose, and so he honed his skills. From his domains to weapons. Although, he was skilled with most weapons before his banishment, he had had the time to perfect each one.

He looked forward to seeing the world again, even if it may not be permanent. To see his father, meet his brother, and see her face again. She hated him. He knew just from the fury in her eyes when he was trialled, for what reason, he did not know. He just hoped that he would be able to resolve whatever issue there was between them, she had always been one of his closest friends even before their relationship begun.

Zeus paced in his private quarters; he knew the demi-gods were close to success in finding Keion. It shouldn't have been possible with the lack of direction, that he had made sure, the Gods had given them. Keion had always irked him, even when he was as far away as possible without him being faded.

Prophesies no matter what could not be avoided, Zeus knew this, he may have delayed it but his time as King would come to an end, all because of the son of his brother. It could still be delayed, with the right precautions, Zeus thought to himself. Trying to muster a plan, when he barely knew what would happen when Keion returned, was more than difficult. If only Athena were more easily swayed to his cause, he would have asked her. Her opinion of Keion, unfortunately, were not in Zeus' favour; having the sense to know that Keion wouldn't fraternise with the enemy, not then and definitely not now after not seeing him fight with them during the two wars. Fortunately for Zeus, some of the others had not picked up on the latter notion, the time between the banishment and the wars were extensive.

He had never shared his plan with anyone except Hercules, who he only told to aid him in his bidding. Hercules didn't need much convincing, after the alteration between him and Keion, he was very eager to get rid of the God. Apollo suspected, after all he knew the prophesy, but with the plan, Apollo turned a blind eye because of the distaste in the God after causing issues between Keion and Artemis.

It had been all too easy, the plan had been anyway, the only setback had been how many were loyal to Keion, it had been a tight vote after all. It had been enough though to get rid of him. Zeus had suspicions that his brothers were watching him carefully; they both were distrustful of Zeus, they had been for a while, particularly Poseidon. He would have to be careful.

PAST

Keion was ecstatic, beyond happy. Zeus had given him permission, he was going to propose to Artemis as soon as he saw her. He had gotten the ring made about a year ago, but he was much too nervous to ask Zeus for his favour after everything that occurred with Hercules a year prior; Keion knew Zeus was angered with him for injuring his son. It wasn't unusual for Zeus to get angry with him or any child of Poseidon, Keion often thought it could be because Poseidon was the only God to ever speak against him in meetings. If anyone were to ever try to threaten Zeus' position it probably would be Poseidon. Keion knew better than that though, if his father really desired to be King of Olympus he would have fought for it all those years ago. Poseidon was happy to have Atlantis as his kingdom.

Wandering to the gardens in Olympus, where he had told Artemis to meet him, her favourite place to be when the sun was setting; no view could compare. Sitting on the edge of the fountain as he waited for her arrival, he was beyond nervous, but also bubbling with excitement. He loved Artemis. This would be one of the greatest days in his immortal life.

He heard footsteps, snapping him out of his thoughts. Whipping his head around to see who it was, only to be disappointed that it was Aphrodite, although he did not let his disappointment show, he smiled tightly at the Goddess that made her way towards him. Artemis sent him a dazzling smile that usually made Gods and men alike to fall under her will, but to Keion it had little effect as usual and Aphrodite knew this. Keion was the closest, out of all the male Gods, that she could truly claim to be her friend and Aphrodite was not popular amongst most Gods and Goddesses, especially the Olympians. Keion was always kind though, having a maturity the others did not, not holding grudges over demigods' quarrels or anything that may have happened in the past. Ever the optimist. Aphrodite respected Keion more so for his loyalty to Artemis, and of course she knew his love for her was true and even she could not break that.

"Lady Aphrodite," Keion spoke as a greeting, bowing his head slightly to show respect to his fellow Olympian.

Aphrodite smiled and returned the gesture, "Keion, I thought we were passed such formality by now, we have known each other for quite a few centuries by now."

Keion laughed at her teasing tone; Aphrodite was one of the many Gods that he found were misunderstood, her joking usually came across as teasing which was then misinterpreted as flirting. He knew better though, after he and Artemis became a couple, she was on of the first to congratulate him, she was most excited for them. Her domain over love, just made her more eccentric, as Keion saw it.

"You know, I already know what you are about to do. You don't have to be so timid, Keion. I am very happy for the both of you, and I cannot wait for the wedding!" Aphrodite exclaimed.

"Thank you, Aphrodite, but you are under the presumption that she is going to say yes," he steadily replied.

"And she has no reason to say anything but. I am the Goddess of Love, this is the only time where I can say I am better informed than the rest of you. Now the more important question is, can I see the ring? I heard from Athena that you have had it for quite some time."

Smiling at her words, he showed her the ring he had gotten made for her. The band was silver and twisted itself round, resembling vines. It had tiny leaves and a single very light blue crystal at its centre. It wasn't extravagant like Hera's, but it was perfect for Artemis. He watched as Aphrodite gasped dramatically at the sight of the ring, and tears reached her eyes.

"It is perfect for her, she will most definitely say yes!"

"I hope so, she should be here soon," Keion said.

"Well then, I wish you luck, Keion." With that she hugged him, wrapping her arms around his neck, and pecked his cheek, telling him how happy she was for them again before finally leaving.

Keion waited for the Goddess he loved so much to arrive. Artemis never arrived that night.

PRESENT

Thalia and Jason couldn't be more relieved that they were finally on solid ground, almost to the point they were ready to kiss it. Although, Poseidon was less likely to drown the children of the sky, the thought was still there; after all the big three brothers weren't exactly the closest of all siblings. To add to the fire as well, this quest was causing a rift between Zeus and Poseidon, much like Percy's first quest had done.

"Which way do we go now?" Jason asked the group as he surveyed his surroundings.

They had arrived on a snowy beach. Beyond the cove, evergreen trees overtook the area, covered in snow, and in the distance many inclines creating a beautiful scenery of mountains. It was truly breath-taking. The air was so fresh compared to the pollution that fogged New York.

The group went silent at the question. They had followed the northern lights this far, but they didn't have a specific location, just this area was where they originated from. Even Annabeth had a puzzled expression upon her face, she didn't plan for this and she always planned ahead.

"Great… What do we do now then?" Jason spoke.

"It's already getting dark, maybe we should set up camp for the night? There's no point in us wandering around in the dark," Thalia suggested.

There were no quarrels from the group, the thought of rest was a blessing after spending a few days on the boat. As they started setting up a camp for the night, Nico wandered off into the forest; telling the group that he wanted to just check the area out. Percy originally protested about him going alone but was soon shut up by Nico glaring at him. He wasn't a defenceless boy anymore, they were all war veterans.

Darkness had settled upon them, not that it bothered Nico. His time spent in the underworld made sure of it. His stygian iron sword was in his hand, hanging loosely by his side; he may not be scared of the darkness but that didn't mean he wasn't going to be cautious. Monsters attacks had been on the low side recently, but that didn't mean they wouldn't appear. Nico kept walking further from camp, until he could no longer see the fire they had made and the chatter of his friends didn't reach his ears. Gazing around, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, other than the lack of animals, but then again, the temperatures here probably made them hibernate Nico pondered.

Suddenly, Nico stopped in his tracks. He heard a crunch of the ground and he slowly turned to see multiple eyes staring at him. A wolfpack. No wonder there wasn't many animals around, he thought bitterly to himself for not making himself more aware. The icy eyes of the alpha, of what he assumed was the alpha stared at him. The white wolf approached him slowly, yet non-threateningly. Nico didn't know what compelled him to keep his sword down and let the wolf approach him. Their teeth weren't bared at him, there were no growls. Just staring at him, and the leader of the pack waiting for instruction. The large alpha nudged him, breaking whatever held his body so still. It then walked off in the direction away from his camp, but looked back when Nico didn't follow. Two other wolves nudged him again from behind as if telling him to follow.

Nico, should've used his better judgement and gone back to camp. Nothing ever ended well when you got yourself in these kinds of situations. Despite his brain screaming at him to run the other direction and better judgement, he followed them. He argued to himself that he would never be able to outrun a whole pack of wolves, or even take them on in a fight. Going with them was the best option, he convinced himself non-committedly.

They continued walking through the forest, until they reached the edge of a cliff that looked out towards the ocean. On the cliff sat a man. He had dark hair, and a beard. His features cheekbones and jaw-line were sharp, but his eyes a deep blue that matched the night's sky perfectly. This man was attractive, Nico knew that, and he knew he was staring a tad too much. There was something else as well, the power that he felt from this being it must be…

"Lord Keion," Nico breathed.

Sorry for the delay! Being a student atm is tough as you can all imagine! I hope you're all well and that you enjoy this chapter. The much awaited meeting has occurred. I know you're all wondering why I sent Nico, and in all honesty he just felt like the right character. I thought doing a group intro would be too much dialogue, so here we are and with Nico knowing more than the rest of the group because his dad actually talks to him and dead people talk to him, it just made sense.

I will try and make it so that next chapter isn't too far in the future but I have a few ideas for new stories in different fandoms as such so I find it hard to write for PJ when my head is thinking of other characters. But I will try, I promise!

Let me know your thoughts and feelings, and any suggestions you wish to see ( I can't promise anything but I will try if it doesn't affect the plot that I have in mind!)

Thank you for reading and being so patient with me!

Beth :)
