The sea cooled your sunburned face with a spray of it's saltwater. Your chocolate brown skirt flapped against the breeze and tickled your legs in the process. A bright gold sun illuminated the rest of the sunset sky, gracing the pinks and purples with a light sepia tint.

"I've seen many a sunset."

You jumped slightly at his voice and found your social skills suddenly sharpened and ready for an interaction. (E/c) eyes flicked away to meet the captain's dark chocolate - almost charcoal - ones that were fixated on the swirls of cloud and color.

"But each one always seems better than the last." The tanned man rested his bruised hands rest upon the polished wood of the Pearl softly, with care.

"Don't' you agree, luv?"

You loved it when he called you that. Of course, the man was a charmer, you knew that. Countless times had he used the pet name to address so many other women from all over. It was in his nature to be a gentleman for his benefit, to act suave to get what he wanted.

However, it was after living on the same ship as he did for some time that you realized that he used the same term for the women he cared about as well. It struck a chord with you when he called you as such after a particularly dangerous incident. You were hauled to the deck of the ship, a firm fist hitting your back to help you rid the seawater from your lungs. You remembered it so clearly. His dark eyes held no cons or tricks, just concern. You remembered when he laid a rough hand on your soaking shoulder, his body heat warming your shivering skin.

"Are you alright, luv?"

The memory swept over your mind like the breeze against you. It was calming, but it also filled your belly with tingly butterflies. You calmed yourself with a sigh that ended in a smile as warm as the sun itself.

"I do, Captain."

You both stood there in silence after that. After a long day's work, it was calming to relish in what nature had to offer. A gentle sway of the wind, the soft creaking of the ship, and only the presence of one you hold dear.
