Blackened…
#72
Something was wrong. I could feel through the walls I was surrounded by and being stuck inside of K, I couldn't tell what it was. I had been put in what seemed almost like a prison of sorts, not the comfy place I was at the first time around in K's soul, but I could sleep thankfully and skip the days I've been in here. There was nothing in this empty room but four plain gray walls that surrounded me, a low gray ceiling and a gray floor. I've been here for what seemed like ages now, and I couldn't shake off the feeling I was nearly a decade older; I felt useless. What felt like the first hour in here, I ended up wrapping my shirt around my head and over my eyes to avoid the feeling of claustrophobia, and I hadn't taken it off since. I've gotten use to telling how close and far I was from hitting a wall in the small walks I made around the small room.
The same way I felt like I was a decade older, I felt like the conversation I had with Moon was a year or so ago. I felt awful in the way I had left her, she never came back, and if I knew any better, I would have asked her to stay with me because the dreams I've been having have been these plain gray walls and an ominous silence.
My hand hadn't stopped hurting from that time I swiped my hand across her face. And thanks to having slapped her, in a twisted way, I felt more like myself after that…maybe because my conscious isn't making me forget it in a way to tell me that being miserable is what I'm meant to be.
And if it wasn't obvious, I was thinking a lot more than usual too. A lot more. Maybe because since that dream with Moon, I hadn't opened my mouth to speak, only to take a breath when I was slightly overwhelmed by the loneliness.
I knew I was going erupt any minute now, but so far that minute feels like it's miles away…
"Yeah…I'm not waiting anymore."
K and his two followers ran up and down the castle searching for anyone and everyone endlessly, and they finally took a breath of fresh air at reaching an ominous hall. A guard was standing still in the middle of the pathway, silent and eerily idle.
The search for Celestia, The Queen, Luna, and or anyone else had come up empty. They were no where in the castle, and K had realized that the second time they surveyed the castle when the fainted guard awoke. Somehow, they ended up checking it four times before finally reaching this point, and finally finding something of life in this deserted castle.
"Hey! Have you seen Celestia or her sister?" K asked from the end of the hall. The guard was in the far end of the hall, his back turned to them. He didn't answer which made Flash, flash an order. The order failed and the guard remained still.
"What gives?" Flash grumbled making K begin shortening the distance between them and the ominous guard. Upon getting close to a meter in distance he calmed his pace and clapped his hands to get his attention.
"Hey, are you…"
K stopped right at that meter from reaching him and dropped his hands to his sides as hooves moved up to his sides.
"What's wrong-
Flash stopped along side K before the muzzled guard appeared next to them, each to witness how a guard of the castle was just petrified cold. There was silence as they watched the guard tremble in place, blank eyes that glowed white and his fur color changing black before their eyes.
"What in the name of…" Flash gulped before turning to K. "Should we…help him?"
"How?" K asked. "I've never seen anything like this before…or I have but…I can't feel anything evil or dark."
The muzzled guard growled getting the attention of both Flash and K. They removed the muzzle which was surprisingly met by a tame and controlled pony who took a deep breath and turned to the changing guard in front of them.
"This is Luna's field of magic." She said getting an intuitive audience. "I recall hearing from other guards that Luna uses this spell to put ponies in a constant state of nightmare; in which the victim will relentlessly suffer from a constant and uncurable nightmare. I can feel it coming off him."
"You can feel it? Even though you only heard about it?" K asked. She quickly came up with an excuse which ended off in small murmurs.
"Alright, if your not lying, then why is his body like that?" K asked to which she sighed.
"I don't really know, but this has to be Luna's doing!"
K looked down at the ground hard before Flash cleared his throat seeming to scoff almost as if disapproving of her story.
"I've heard the same rumor; the complete rumor is that Luna once used the spell on some guard who disobeyed her order. But that isn't a rumor."
K lifted his head slightly and the pre-muzzled guard flinched.
"It happened. Luna tried to hide it but everything that goes on in the torture chamber is documented." Flash explained turning to the guard. "No guard is allowed to have access to those documents. Especially you, Hearts!"
Exposed of her name and what seemed like more, Hearts froze in place, she got hit from the left and right with his words which K lifted an eyebrow to.
"And how do you know that if no guard is allowed to have access?" K asked seeing the now identified-as Hearts, turn inside out. Flash was very straight forward with his answer.
"Well, it's not completely sealed off, just hard to get access to. I simply asked Celestia if I could look into the documents; I found the newest and only entre in a long time to be a disobeying guard. I have a feeling Celestia doesn't know of Luna's action, if she did, maybe I wouldn't have been so easily given access."
"How do you know…my name…?" She asked making Flash seriously face her.
"Through ambition; I spent months trying to figure your name out and I finally did not a few weeks ago, when you were disowned from the royal guard." Flash explained and K quickly lifted both his eyebrows evenly before placing his hand over his mouth and staring even harder at the ground hiding a snarky smile. Hearts was hurt horribly; Flash and K could see it with how much her face boiling red with fury.
"Is something wrong?" Flash asked and K leaned over and whispered the news into his ear, making sure to be as loud a whisperer as he could. Flash quickly turned from a straight-faced talker to a tight-lipped sympathizer. Hearts took some heavy breaths as if holding back something as K turned back to her with a smile he for some reason couldn't contain.
"You can tell someone else who has more sympathy for you, talking to us will just piss you off," K said.
"Y-you'd smile and laugh at my suffering!?" She yelled at him. Flash alerted by the conversation turned to K and warned him to be weary of her. There was something in K that sometimes ticked, almost like if he enjoys seeing other's outrage before him, it fueled his inner demons and pumped him.
K suddenly and aggressively ducked and placed a hand on his hamstring as he landed on his knee.
"Sorry, you had that look like you were going to cause trouble." Flash said as he dropped a hammer onto the ground making K groan a bit and laugh with a lifted eyebrow.
"Where the hell did he get a hammer?"
Hearts and Flash both suddenly remained silent as K slowly got back onto his feet. The darkness had spread around the guard in front of them and he had stopped trembling, he was almost lifeless. K hummed as he reached hand out and gave the ominous guard a light tap on the head which resulted in the guard turning towards him, his eyes wide. Both Hearts and Flash observed as K shivered from the top of his head to his feet and quickly away from the guard rubbing his eyes slowly.
"What's wrong?"
"Don't look into his eyes…" K took a worked-out breath and cleared his throat. K moved to a side and placed his head against a wall, leaving the guards free to look and they quickly got a glimpse of his eyes and lost the quickest staring contest in Equestria.
"W-WHAT IS THIS!? It's feels like a million thought just ran through my head!" Flash remarked using his hoof to continuously hit his head repeatedly, Hearts following his lead.
"I feel woozy…" Hearts joined in the discomfort.
K rubbed his eyes out before guiding the group out of the hall and turn around at a corner and took a breather. It was like they said, a million thoughts ran through their head so quickly it felt like they knew exactly how the guard's life had been since day one in under a second but in a very dark and depressing light. The thoughts were too hard to process though, only leaving a bunch of static in their minds that couldn't be deciphered apart from only a few times in which they could make out an image in their heads that explained a depressing thought.
"Oh goodness me! It's leaving…" Flash sighed making K's head pick up and peer around the corner. The guard had vanished into nothingness.
"What was that!? Is this part of the magic Luna weilds!?"
"I don't know…but Luna's behind this right?" K slowly retracted his head from the corner and turned back to the group before he suddenly caught a glimpse of glowing dots in the distance. He looked up at them before he felt his head suddenly become static and again he rubbed his eyes out and sat down.
"Another one!?" Hearts exclaimed before frustratingly stomping a hoof and a wall suddenly appeared before them. K blinked away the sick feeling before growling as he made it onto his feet and began searching.
"What's going on!? AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" Flash asked before being shushed by Hearts as they watched K run his hand to his head and calmly begin searching. Flash backed away and flipped the hammer he held with his wing before a sudden scratching came from the newly placed wall. He moved up and placed his ear on it.
"There's so many…" He whispered before he heard tapping on the wall. They were weak taps as if there was no effort put into them and an incomprehensible mumbling coming from the other side.
Flash backed off the wall and sighed. "They sound like they're suffering…"
K opened his eyes as he turned to the two ponies. He took a step forward only to have his feet sweep from the ground and land on his back with a harsh thud. Flash and Hearts quickly jumped over him and watched as he quickly sat up and landed his hand on the reason for his fall.
There was water, warm water to be exact. He lifted his hand and smelled it before rubbing it off on his shirt.
"Which one of you is sweating?" K asked looking at them but none of them were. They both locked onto him as he suddenly placed his hand on forehead and pulled puddle from his head. "Oh…" He mentioned lifting his shirt over his head to dry himself.
"Somepony mind explaining, what's the deal? Luna's been sick, and now all of a sudden, the world is covered in darkness, and we're being stalked by nightmarish guards…" Flash complained before blinking and turning to Hearts.
"Could this be Nightmare Moon's doing?"
K slowly lowered his fingers from his head and gulped slightly as he took his shirt off and threw it aside. Getting the immediate attention of both ponies who gazed upon his chest curiously and worried.
"I can only sense one of them…Cele-"
"W-WHAT IN CELESTIA'S NAME IS THAT!?" Hearts and Flash exclaimed as he looked down at both of them. They were speaking about the ritual on his chest. He took his time before pointing to his chest, only to receive silent and slow nods. He looked down before using his finger outline the circle.
"This is a ritual circle for conducting rituals."
Hearts moved up to him with a worried glare.
"What kind of ritual involves your whole body to be sacrificed!?"
I knew now something was happening, these walls give off horrible vibes. I walked confidently to a wall and placed a hand on it. They were vibrating. It was barely noticeable but I've grown keen to the sensitivity. And from that sense of hyper touch, I felt something else. I undid the wrap around my head and eased my sight back, before noticing what had happened to said wall.
It was slightly cracked and I followed with my finger till I came to a gap that was big enough to shove a finger into. I got low enough to look through but all I could see was this deep black color that was swirling around. It seemed to be a mist of sorts but that's all I could get out of it. I backed away from the wall and unsheathed my sword before quickly ramming it into the crack.
K suddenly twitched getting the attention of those the two guards who came back to his mark.
"Funny, you're the only one to have ever asked me that…"
Hearts and Flash both shared a gaze before Flash shook his head.
"Forget we asked, that's for you to know."
K looked down at his chest and nodded with an ominous stale tone. "Yeah…sorry for showing it off."
"Don't think too much on it, we have some royalty to find." Hearts encouraged K which snapped him back to his usual self as he planted a fist onto his palm.
"Speaking of which, I found Celestia!"
"YOU'VE BEEN WAITING HOW LONG TO TELL US THIS!?" Both guards jumped on his tail.
"My bad, but it's hard to tell where she is, her life signal seems to appear then disappear in many different locations," K said as he turned to them before closing his eyes and raising his fingers to his head and the two guards clung onto him as he took controlled breaths.
K and the guards suddenly appeared with a strange realm, one that was all too familiar to K as he suddenly let his aura surround him.
"M-my eyes!" Hearts grunted with Flash as they held strong onto his K's legs.
K let his aura take over the entirety of the world to darken the blinding light. The feeling was off slightly as K looked around and the two guards detached from his legs. It looked like a calm peaceful place that wasn't meant to be dark like his magic had just turned the place into.
He suddenly locked onto a misplaced door and his eyes zeroed in. He sprinted towards it and shattering the door with a shoulder and right there, in the middle of the room, laid on the ground was Celestia.
"Celestia!?" Hearts exclaimed.
"YOUR HIEGHNESS!" Flash quickly ran up and began surveying her. K got on his feet and made it over to her quickly.
"Celestia!?" K said giving her a shake, but she already had an open eye and gazed at the three of them. She didn't say a thing but she was trying to with how she was clearly trying to move her body, but she was immobile. K lowered his sight to her wings and grabbed them with his hand moving into a different position and it stayed there.
"Who could have done this?" Hearts asked making K look at Celestia suddenly turning to look at him. K glared at her slightly before widening his eyes.
"She's paralyzed!"
Hearts quickly looked over and used her magic which ended in what sounded like glass shattering as Celestia reanimated with a gasp.
"Thank you…thank you!"
"What happened!? The entire castle is full of dark guards and the sky is getting over run by some dark clouds!" K asked, looking to answered but Celestia only shook her head as she sat upright and used her wings to cover her face and take a small breather. "But you're alright," K loosened and sighed along, they all sat down for a while before Celestia lowered her wings and turned to him.
"How did you find me, let alone get in here?"
"I teleported blindly in here, barely was able to feel your life signal."
Celestia smiled and turned to Hearts who was curious about the whole happening.
"And where did you obtain that level of magic?"
"Eh…uh…maybe once we figure out what your sister has done, I'll explain." Hearts explain nervously. Flash immediately nodded, explaining their encounter with a royal guard.
Celestia lowering her head, losing any will to feel joy.
"Nightmare Moon, she's taken over my sister again." She explained before Flash grunted and Hearts asked the obvious.
"How!?"
"I haven't a clue! But she's become radical, more than before!"
K remained silent before bringing a hand to his chin.
"I could easily lock her back into Luna…" He said making Celestia quickly turn to him.
"No, I don't want her back in my sister! I want her out and destroyed!"
The sudden reaction didn't faze K since he knew exactly how Moon and Luna's relationship should be like, it just hasn't worked out. He held close to him his beliefs as he shook his head and wagged a finger at her.
"Come on, maybe we can get her to behave-
"NO! You don't know what's happened! Do you!?"
Celestia surprised K with the question, they glared at each other a while before K let her speak.
"There were five of us in that room, Luna, Mother, Twilight, Chrysalis, and I. We didn't notice it at first but it seemed there was magic placed on a window which was absorbing Luna with her own magic. Both Mother and I passed Luna some magic, Mother giving up half of hers, but this was before we figured out about the window."
"You made Moon more powerful than she already was?" Hearts asked afraid of the answer.
"Not only that, it seems we gave her some new abilities as well, she managed to paralyze me right as I was teleporting and I appeared here like this…I was afraid I would be trapped here."
K sighed in some relief.
"Well, you're not, now the others?"
"Mother managed to get herself and Twilight away…" Celestia slowed down and turned to K who seemed to eager to hear the rest. Celestia stared at him before looking towards Flash.
"And Chrysalis?" K asked, being friendly with his question which Celestia knew would aggravate him, then again, she knew lying to him would leave him worse when he found out.
"Celestia?" K asked. Terrifying Celestia who slowly turned to him.
"Moon…did something to her."
The wall cracked some more, and right before my eyes as well. I quickly looked through the cracks again but this time instead of seeing a complete black fog, there was violent purple color circulating around. I wanted to get out but I couldn't figure it out, it was almost as if I was being contained.
"K!"
I guess he couldn't hear me or worse, he's ignoring me. That feeling of claustrophobia was returning again and it was coming in strong as I closed my eyes. I remained still with my head against the wall before it hit me I could be spend a whole eternity in here.
"Come on, K! LET ME OUT!"
I punched the wall and with that punch a thick black goop of sorts started seeping in through the cracks. "Huh?" I glared at it before it slowly started making its way to my feet. I didn't even notice it when it suddenly surrounded me. I quickly turned to look at the cracked wall and the dark ooze was just coming in nonstop. I backed a step without a thought and landed a foot in the black essence and I quickly yanked my foot away but only to have my other foot taken hold of.
"WHAT THE FUCK, K!?"
I took a step in the direction for the wall, to see if it could be clogged, only to fall and reach my hands out to the floor which was active. The mysterious thick and black liquid enveloped my hand and before long, started to move upwards towards my shoulders. I felt like I was getting weaker, as this ooze was eventually fully covering my legs and moving towards my waist.
Eventually, the room was full up to my neck as I tried to keep my mouth above the pool. I was going to lose my mind in seconds and that was confirmed by how I was gasping for air. I was hoping it would stop before it started suffocating me but it quickly reached my lips and began finding its way into my mouth, I would imagine this is what swallowing a slug feels like.
"K! YOU'RE GOING TO GET ONE, YOU-!"
It finally reached over my mouth.
"So, she took Chrysalis…and Twilight's friends?" K asked as he stepped into the throne room, looking towards the thrones.
"Why are you so calm about it? You're frightening me." Celestia asked and K turned to her with some witty smile.
"We haven't lost anyone yet, so we're going to get everyone back, that's the only choice, right?" K asked turning the question back to her. Celestia curiously gazed as him cracking his knuckles and placing both hands together in almost prayer position and walked over to the thrones.
"And how will you do that?" The Flash asked.
"If it's as simple as I think…" K said, as he took a seat on Luna's throne and crossed a leg over the other, authoritarian-like. Everyone stared as he placed his hand on the throne next to his and nodded to something on his mind.
"We're going to need get rid of all this darkness that has been placed."
"How can we possibly do that, the world has been-
"Exactly, Ben." K chuckled making Celestia brighten up with a smile as he suddenly clapped his hands together and beams of light emerged from between his palms.
"You mean it!? But I thought Ben was still a danger!?" Celestia asked cheerfully.
"No, not really, I just knew something was up with Luna the moment I saw her. I kinda held back." K closed his eyes as he placed his palm on Celestia's throne next to him and called forth Ben in near ritual manner saying a sort of rite. Light began to fill the entire room, and the cheers from the audience grew loud as the light died down and before them.
"WHAT THE-!?" K yelled as he watched Ben roll off throne and onto the floor. He was completely still and almost lifeless, his face to the ceiling. "W-WHAT NOW!?" K jumped off the throne and slid into the scene with Ben and lifted his body.
"Is he alright!? What happened!?" Celestia asked getting close to him, Hearts and Flash both stared at him as K shook him slightly. That was it. Ben came to life slightly, his eye barely prying open before he let out a thin breath of air that trailed along with it, the black mist that no one noticed apart from K. K watched closely as the smoke floated up towards the ceiling before he began shaking.
"Hey! What's do you think you're doing!? You were supposed to wait and stay fit; and look at you!"
I managed to open my eyes again and thank goodness, K was there and so was Celestia, my maid; Hearts, and Flash. There was a lot of darkness over them but I could see the genuine eyes of my friends again. Then again, for some reason I could see they were worried, maybe K finally heard my cries for help.
"K, you said a week…what the fuck, man…" I said with an exhaustion. I was still out of breath from nearly being suffocated. They all seem to react in a funny way, as if they weren't in the mood for any lifting of spirts. I picked my back off the ground with K's help.
"What's wrong?"
"Do you feel alright?" K asked and I looked at him strangely before poking at his chest.
"I'd ask the same, why are you shirtless, and oh yeah, WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!? I nearly drowned in a pool of black goop and stuff!" i shoved him.
He seemed slightly shocked and I returned with a frown.
"Are you going to answer?"
"Drowned? Black goop?" He asked and I looked at Celestia and company before looking around at the dingy atmosphere. "What…" K whispered.
I had my sights strongly focused how dark it was, the windows were dark and it was as a matter of fact, dark in here.
"What's happening outside?" I asked as I walked off to a window. I placed my hand on the window before squinting my eyes to see outside. I remained still for a moment before I felt the window break in front of me. My feet moved faster than my head could gather what I was seeing.
"Ben!? What's wrong!?" Everyone asked.
K, Celestia and the guards both stared as Ben suddenly took off and escaped the castle, leaving behind the confusion before they followed after him. They reached the main entrance and braked to a stop at finding Ben a slight distance from the castle, looking around at the world beneath him.
K and Celestia slowly neared him before they looked down at the civilization and froze before K quickly grabbed Celestia and made her look away.
"W-what is this?"
Everyone looked up to Ben who looked up to the dark sky before looking down. There were ponies, all dark, their color no longer existed, everything was black. Houses were darkened, ponies were completely black apart from their eyes which glowed like the full moon. The world was taken over by darkness.
"I asked, WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!?" I yelled turning to them who stood by the entrance of the castle. They turned to me, shocked and worried. My mind collapsed on itself as I heard a moan and turned to the world again and all I saw were glowing dots, hundreds on hundreds of them.
"WAIT BEN! DON'T LOOK INTO THEIR EYES!"
"Don't look?" I slowly began descending towards them. They were moaning in agony and the depressing sound of a cello could be heard playing eerily. I followed the sound past all the eyes that were on me, there were so many. I couldn't make out the difference between ponies, all their manes were draped over their faces and their heads hung low. Their body posture resembled those of weeping dogs.
What had happened in a week…
"Mr. Ben…" I paused and turned but I didn't know where to look, there were too many eyes and look-a-likes. I shook my head, my breathing accelerated, and my pace quickened. I suddenly felt my pants get grabbed and my eyes widened as I looked down. There was a tiny pony, a foal, grabbing my pants as it was looking up at me, its glowing eyes never blinking or showing emotion. They were incapable but I wasn't. I held my breath as I grabbed it and brought it close to my face.
"Ben…"
Its voice was haunting, hollowed and echoing within itself.
"Who did this to you?"
It had no answer apart from what it knew to say.
"Ben…"
It repeated my name over and over again, and I was slowly getting a head ache. I let it back onto the ground before it spoke again, and this time, the name wasn't mine.
"Sister…"
I froze in place and looked back at it.
"Sister…"
"Who?" I asked.
"Apple…"
The resentment manifested as my eyes weakened and my body grew cold.
"…j-"
I covered her mouth with my hand.
I held in my hands, Applejack's sister. I felt my gut sink deep as my head tipped low and gently placed her on the ground and stayed on a knee. "Applebloom…that right?" I whispered as I grabbed her head and stroked it. With every stroke, misery stacked.
"Ben…"
"You came looking for your sister? Maybe your friends?"
I didn't know what emotions she could be feeling and that hurt me so deeply: was it misery for what happened to her, worry over her sister, or joy that I was here? I placed her down and gave her head a small pat. "I'm sorry but I'll fix this…again." I whispered, realizing I was giving my word again. I sighed and began walking off before I heard one last thing, this time, it was as if the Gates of Hell had opened to let me listen to the sinners.
"We're sorry…"
There were so many voices.
I turned to look at them and nodded slowly. Their cries, I've heard them all before, and to hear them again, was a sin.
I closed my eyes and moved forward, not looking behind but at my hand which I had placed over my mouth. I was disgusted and before long, I felt my leg grow heavy and I turned towards my it.
"Don't…go…"
The sad cello stopped and I paused along with it. Looking up, there at the music store, I could see Octavia past the window, simple to tell with her bow tie. I stared a while as she stared back. I wish it wasn't like this. I wish I couls go back to singing songs, betting ridiculous bets, and getting a smile. I picked up Bloom and moved over to a house and placed my back against it. With an unrecognizable Applebloom in my arms, I let myself fall down and squeeze tightly onto her. Why did this have to happen?
It seems I just keep asking the same questions.
"DAMN IT!"
K and Celestia both turned to each other. They watched from the entrance of the castle the new world before them. They shared the same level of horrible anguish and the guards behind them took one look and looked away, shaking their heads.
"We have to summon Moon, K." Celestia said.
"I have a bad feeling, if I do that…" K answered making Celestia look depressingly to the endless ponies.
"Ben, right?" Celestia asked turning to K before she suddenly backed away. He had a dark gaze, accompanied with his eyes glowing almost a neon red. "K, you're…"
K looked down to the ground closing his eyes and gently patting the side of his face.
"If this is what Moon did to them…what did she do to the rest…" He suddenly looked over to her, his eyes in a fueled rage. "Chrysalis!?"
Celestia backed away a step but never put her last hoof on the ground before she took a step forward towards him. She couldn't keep stepping back when it came to her friends. K noticed her approach and lost the glow in his eyes as he himself turned to her.
"I'm sorry…" Celestia apologized making K shake his head.
"No, stop right there."
"Why?" Celestia asked.
"Because we're sorry. Ben and I. It seems we only bring trouble everywhere, this place was so peaceful wasn't it? And now it's…This. Not that we wanted this…but can we even avoid it?" K explained turning around to face the world of dark ponies. Celestia wept slightly before lifting her head. She must have had a surge in energy since K turned almost immediately to find Celestia with a hard look on her.
"No, K. I don't think you are to blame, neither is Ben, it just seems that way."
"Really? Because I can't think of a problem that hasn't arisen since we appeared." K said with an annoyed tone but Celestia shook her head used her wing to signal him to obey.
"That's because we've always had problems. Moon was always a problem, Gods were a problem waiting to happen, Sting and Jade were another problem, and so was Chrysalis." Celestia explained before tapping her hoof twice one the ground. "Chrysalis is taken care of; Thanks to you, she became our ally and has herself, you."
She tapped twice again.
"Sting and Jade have been implemented into a society again."
She tapped again.
"We've taken care of two gods."
She tapped her hoof again, but this time only once and gently placed her hoof on the ground firmly.
"And now we're stopping Moon, once and for all, this isn't a curse! These have been the battles of a war we're winning! The fear we ponies exhibit is because we're not use to having to deal with problems so straight-forwardly, but you two are rewriting the script we were given to play, and we're finally catching up to it."
With a burning passion even K could feel a warming his own blood, she stepped up to him and sighed using her wings to pick up his hand from his side and hold it.
"I want you and Ben to hold yourselves. Even though I want to hold you both, if I disappeared…who would tell you what I'm telling you?" Celestia said releasing his hand. K looked down at his hands in front of him. He's heard it before but he never really put much thought onto it: the effect he had on others.
Celestia closed in on him and rested her head on his side.
"Love yourself K, it isn't wrong."
K held his breath as he put his arm around Celestia.
"I've always loved myself, but ever since I got here," He looked at her and she looked back him, he smiled charmingly. "It seems I love everyone else…just a bit more."
"Oh, how scandalous! Well, actually, I guess that bug never was to be considered love material."
K and Celestia both turned to the sky to find none other than Moon, riding in on a dark cloud with a grin. Both of them, heavily offended but more so on Celestia's side, demanded to know what she had done with the town's ponies and K demanded to know if that was an insult.
Moon turned to look at the ponies below who had all turned their sight to her. She smiled at her creation and couldn't hold back laughing.
"She's deranged…" Celestia whispered making K take a step forward.
"Maybe, maybe not." K said before taking in a deep breath and hiding a hand behind him. "MOON! What do you think you're doing now!?"
Moon looked back at them curiously as if she had ignored them completely.
"Celestia…you wandered off before we could finish our face to face conversation."
"I'm in no mood Moon!" Celestia made clear before both demanded to know the answers to their questions.
There was silence as Moon looked at both of them before lifting an eyebrow. "No mood…is that right…?" She asked, receiving fierce glares from the two figured beneath her. She took their glares and smiled back as she used her magic making K almost bring his arm from his back but stopped as soon he saw Chrysalis appear before him. He felt his heart pump more aggressively. Her eyes were lifeless but her body swayed slightly side to side as if she was being dangled from strings.
"C-CHRYSALIS!?"
"That love bug doesn't seem to be swell, how about it Demon?" Moon said using her magic and forcing Chrysalis to pick her head up and smile. The depressing smile along with K's agony made for Celestia getting enrage and launching her magic towards Moon who simply used Chrysalis as a shield. K gritted his teeth in torture as he revealed his hidden hand and aimed his palm towards Moon who looked down at him.
"What? I have the right to defend myself."
K suddenly began enclosing his palm which cut Moon's laughter short. She paused and flinched horridly as K suddenly began pulling and forcing her to near him from her cloud.
"What are you doing!?" Moon anguished making K swipe his hand to a side making Moon fall over and gag.
"Give back Chrysalis!" K suddenly swiped his hand the other direction making Moon roll in front of him. He expected to have gotten somewhere but instead he ended up listening to the laughter as Moon stood with a wobble.
"Chrysalis…is mine!" She laughed as she stood firmly making K quickly clap his hand together which had Moon on the ground again, her body frenzied. K demanded what he wanted but Moon only met him laughter as she stood again.
"You don't get it, do you!? She now part of me! She's mine!"
"WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN!?" K asked as he clapped his hands again, even more aggressively before he repeated it without any pattern but his aggression. Moon fell to the ground almost unconscious after only to have K release his hands and undo whatever form of magic he was using and move up to her only to stop suddenly at her chuckling.
"You…don't get it…"
K reached down grabbed her head with both hands and forcing her to look at him. "What don't I get!?"
Moon sighed in his hands as she swayed her eyes over. K slowly turned in the same direction. Chrysalis was on the ground, surrounded by Flash and Hearts; her lifeless eyes blank and without meaning. His hands dropped weakly, her immobile and blank gaze couldn't be any more painful. He crawled his way over to her, his legs too weak work and he got close to her face and nearly planted his hand on her head before she suddenly faded into a black dust that seeped through K's fingers.
"What you do to me…you do it to her…" Moon advised.
He was losing himself quickly, as if seeing Chrysalis almost lifeless wasn't enough, to think he would cause her even more pain took away any little bit of anger in him and exponentially increased it. He ran his hands over his eyes and over his hair, drunk on the melancholy and fury.
Moon had taken back to her cloud and smiled with delight as she watched them on the ground almost as if she hadn't taken a bit of damage at all.
"Don't worry, she's not gone just yet, there's still so much more I want to do with her."
Celestia helped console K before she turned to Moon and took to the sky to get even with her. Leaving K behind with a message.
"Alright Moon, you want a face to face conversation, let's have one."
I clutched tighter onto Bloom in my arms as I glared up at the castle and at Moon.
"Moon."
Being surrounded by all the dark ponies, I couldn't help but wonder what it was like to be a victim. A victim to something they had nothing to be involved in, what does such injustice feel like? They didn't do anything else but stare and mutter, so could they understand the situation or were they husks of what they were?
Bloom slowly looked around as I stared at the mastermind behind it all. Moon had appeared again, seemingly in control of Luna's body again unfortunately. And it seems Celestia will confront with hopefully something to buy me time. K was doing something up there too, I could feel it from down here but it ended abruptly which resulted in where I now stand, onlooking Celestia.
Bloom move smoothly in my hands and I looked down.
"What is it?"
"Ben…"
"Yeah…I know." I simply responded looking back up.
"Scoot…"
My eyes slowly move down and I felt like a rusty machine come to life. If this was Applebloom now, then Scootaloo has to be victim of this as well. I remained still for a while, feeling something inside my chest want to come out before thoughts eased into my head.
"Dash, Twilight, Rarity…" I turned and began moving.
"Ben…"
"Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Fluttershy…!?" I suddenly busted through the front door of Fluttershy's home and ran upstairs searching for Fluttershy before going into my room and looking around. I lost my mind as I quickly placed Applebloom down. I had broken into everyone's home and searched for my friends but I found none, I found Spike and Octavia, but that was best left unspoken of, I couldn't bare that image.
I quickly fell down onto my knees and launched a fist towards my dresser which cut my hand open badly and filled it with wooden splinters. I completely destroyed the dresser and joined my hands over my eyes as I fell back onto my back.
"This happened to them too…didn't it!?"
"Ben…"
I lowered my hands from my eyes and watched Applebloom hold something bright in her mouth. I glared as I picked my back off the floor and grabbed it. This was the stone that held Luna and Celestia's emotions within them, a mini-trip down memory lane brought me back to when I was first given these; good times…sort of. It glowed red on Celestia's side and blue on Luna's side. Red for anger and surprisingly blue for sadness. I messed with it in my hand before I got on my knees and began tossing around the rubble of the dresser before I found another stone, Cadence's. It was glowing a pulsing blue that faded to red and turned back to blue.
"How do I use these…?" I asked Bloom, she was silent and I was left to myself as I took a second to think on the stones. Last time I could remember using these was when Celestia was upset that I had a nightmare and took it out on Luna.
"Nightmare…" I whispered before my head rose my eyes darting straight to Luna's side of the stone. "Moon."
I had a small theory on the spot as I placed the symbols on my bed.
I looked around the room and got on the ground, reaching under my bed and pulled out a vest accompanied with a black shirt and black baggy pants. I grabbed everything I could get my hands on and tossed on a new pair of leather gloves I kept hidden in the vest; I didn't really know I had them but by instinct, my hands just reached into a compartment and there.
"Ben…"
I ran the tight black shirt down my body, followed by the vest and it was wonderful to feel something moderately heavy on my shoulders. It's been a while, hasn't it. I looked over to Applebloom who came up close and I made sure to give her thanks before I slipped on the black boots and adjusted everything. I almost wanted to laugh looking myself once more in the cracked mirror with everything on, but then again, the feeling this was the best choice I've made in a while clouded my head.
"Ben…"
I looked over to her, her pitch of voice changed.
"Crying…"
"Crying?" I asked back and she just repeated my name again. We gazed at each other as I slipped both stones into my pocket and picked her up.
"What does that mean?"
Maybe she wasn't so emotionless after all. She hinted at things like picking up the glowing gem and mentioning Applejack and Scootaloo. I felt my hands tremble slightly but it wasn't me.
"Crying…"
I guess that was the answer. She was crying in theory, but with no way to express it, she just says what she feels. It would have relieved me slightly, now that I knew that she had a near conscious mind, but then I can't tell what she's hurting over. She just started crying in a way.
If what I saw back then was Celestia confronting Moon, something would have arisen by now that would be noticeable. The fact it's quiet means something other than violence is what Moon took over Luna for. Then again that wouldn't explain why innocents had to get involved.
K warned me not to look into their eyes and I could see what he meant by it. Looking into their eyes was like looking at the last minutes of someone's life that was full of regrets and suffering; depression if you could see it. Funny how such a thing could hurt K…or maybe I just have K all wrong.
