AN: Now this episode of Linc 10 is inspired by an episode of the original Ben 10 but with a Loud House spin on it, which I had a blast in typing because I know I can't just keep adapting Ben 10 episode, exactly by the plot and dialogue until I run out of material. Now, I know I need to work on my update time so I've been considering in maybe choosing one story and update it regularly until moving onto the next one and the process repeats, like to think that's the best way for me to be more active in my stories compared to most of the time. Also, I've been thinking on more original chapters to come after this one, that much I can guarantee and heck, I'm also thinking of including some OC alien forms, ones that are either a fanmade species or one based on an alien species seen on Ben 10 but he never transformed into one like a Vreedle for example. There's a lot to explore in this story but I want to take it one step at a time, it's still far off from the more intense stuff.
I don't mean just Vilgax, like...too many to list here but that's the fun part. Now to get this chapter out of the way so that I can put my brain to work.

Lincoln likes to think he's gotten along pretty well with the Omnitrix.
The fact that a mere 11-year-old has managed to hold his own against drones, giant robots, a mad scientist with mutated animals, sea animal poachers, and alien bounty hunters is impressive all on its own and that's not even getting into all the hero work he's been doing as well. Granted he had a little help on the last one but his actions speak for themselves, and he's gotten quite used to the bodies and natural abilities of all his 10 alien forms quite well too, still confused him on why the number was only set in 10. However, as good as his track record has been lately, didn't quite seem enough for his new associate and self-proclaimed trainer, Tetrax Shard, formerly one of the three bounty hunters sent to collect the Omnitrix watch device only to have been fooling his employer the entire time.
When the Petrosapien decided to stay on Earth to watch over Lincoln and the powerful device attached to his wrist, Linc has been at a crossroads on how he should feel about that.
On one hand, he made his first alien friend which was pretty up there on his list of stuff that other people have said would never happen but on the other hand, his thoughts of training were left to be desired. Up until now, he's only relied on handmade obstacle courses to keep him on his feet but the thing about them was that they never hit back. The combat robot drones that Tetrax teleported from his spaceship however did and whenever he threw a hit, they hit back, rather hard too. "Think on your feet. Don't meet their attacks head-on." was what Tetrax advised Lincoln for what felt like the millionth time. This training session had been going for hours in a secluded area in the woods near the waterfall.
Currently, Lincoln was Diamondhead under advisement from his new trainer or for a more appropriate term, taskmaster. Even though he was a young Earthling child, Tetrax wasn't throwing him any kiddie gloves for this kind of training. As he tried slashing these drones with shard shaped arms but they projected shield barriers on their arms.
They attacked him by firing laser bolts from their headpieces making Diamondhead combine his arms into a diamond shield that was sturdy but whatever was powering these robots it was strong enough to make some cracks on the shield. Thinking quickly, Diamondhead stomped on the ground, summoning diamond pillars from the ground that traveled up to the right ankle of one bot. Forming his arms back into their normal shape, he fired multiple diamond shards from his hands, overwhelming the other drone.
Diamondhead continued his barrage even as he jumped over to behind the one with the pierced ankle and grabbed it by the head and crystals began to form around it, encasing it completely. All that was left was the second one, both Diamondhead and the drone charged at each other, with the alien hero parrying oncoming body blow before ducking down and a long diamond spike extended, piercing it through the chest.
With both drones defeated, Tetrax contacted his co-pilot. "Gluto, that's two more down. You know the drill." a series of grunts and gurgles was heard from the other end. "Don't worry, we can build new ones." more grunts and gurgles. "There's more than enough supplies in the ship. Tetrax, out."
"So, teach, how would you rate that?" Diamondhead asked as he turned back into Lincoln.
Tetrax answered after what remained of the drones disappeared, transporting back to his ship. "You put up a good fight, although a quick victory would have been achieved had you instead chosen a form that could easily make short work of those drones."
"Hey, Diamondhead wasn't my first choice. I wanted to go Heatblast-
"Pyronite."
With an eye twitching, Lincoln continued. "-but the watch-"
"Omnitrix."
Sighing, Lincoln corrected himself with an eyeroll. "-the Omnitrix turned me into Diamondhead-"
"Petrosapien."
"-instead." Lincoln finished with grinding teeth but composed himself. "Look, Tetrax, I appreciate you staying on Earth and offering to train me but could you lighten up just a bit? Fighting your training drones is almost like fighting those alien drones that came when I found the wa-Omnitrix."
Tetrax nodded in affirmation. "Which was the exact point. Lincoln, while it is impressive that you've gotten the basic rundown of your current alien forms' powers and abilities, you're still just scratching the surface of their potential, theirs and the Omnitrix as well." he advised him with his stern tone ever present. "The forces that will come to collect won't hold back just because you're a child and if you are to have any hope of fighting them off then you need to be fully prepared. You're lucky I know enough about a Petrosapien's strengths and how to effectively use them."
"I understand that. Really, I do." Lincoln said, evenly. "But at the same time, you could've given me a heads up on a training sessions instead of just calling me to come to the woods and just hang up." he recanted. At his house, he was enjoying playing a new game in his bedroom until the bounty hunter contacted him through the Omnitrix's apparent communication function.
"That was to test your reaction, which also could use some work."
Lincoln shook his head while suppressing a groan. After fighting and defeating SixSix and Kraab, Lincoln began to understand the exact value that the Omnitrix has. With all the power it has that he's personally used, it's no wonder someone would pay a lot of money to get it for themselves and deploy alien robots. In he beginning, he was stoked about having such a powerful tool and it felt great using it to perform heroic acts in his hometown but with everything that Tetrax has been trying to teach him about, he couldn't help but feel like the watch was more trouble than its worth. Especially since his own grandfather almost got caught in the crossfire.
"Hello? Anyone there?" a voice called out.
Acting on instinct, Tetrax brandished his pistol. "Tetrax, wait! Stand down!" Lincoln got in path as he recognized that voice.
Out from the bushes came his best friend and brother in all but blood, Clyde. "Lincoln, there you are." he stopped as he took notice of Tetrax and gulped upon seeing his weapon. "A-And Mr. Shard."
"Clyde, what are you doing out here?" Lincoln asked.
"Looking for you." Clyde answered. "I stopped by your house but you weren't there, I made it all the way to near the woods and I heard some fighting."
Lincoln winced and apologized. "Oh, sorry for being a no-show, pal. But Tetrax called me and apparently, it was for a training exercise, you're a bit too late for the show. What did you want to see me for?"
"I thought you'd want to do a patrol of Royal Woods, look out for any emergencies that need taking care of."
"You mean engaging in these acts of heroism as per usual?" Tetrax crossed his arms. Of all things that he theorized when he learned that a youngling of planet Earth was in possession of the Omnitrix, him using it such a manner was not on of them. It's not like he wasn't all for it. it was just the lack of subtlety that concerned him. "Lincoln, that's something I've been meaning to tall to you about. Though your well-intentioned, you must see that there a multitude of risks when you use your transformations so regularly. Anyone looking for to claim would know exactly where to look, it'd also be easy for them since you stick close your settlement."
"I have all this power stuck to my wrist." Lincoln pointed out with a shrug. "Might as well do something productive with it and besides, it's a little too late to stop now." he turned to his friend. "Go on ahead, I'll catch up."
Casting one last nervous glance at the Petrosapien, the glasses wearing child went away. "Your choice in confidants is also somewhat baffling." said alien voiced. "I noticed that the McBride is prone to panicking at any given moment. Remind me again why you decided to inform him of the Omnitrix?"
"Because besides my family, there are only two other people I can trust with a secret this big and he's one of them." Lincoln answered in defense of his friend.
"Who's the other one?"
To Tetrax's confusion and some concern, Lincoln momentarily looked downcast. "She's...not exactly easy to reach nowadays but my point still stands. Now if you'll excuse, gotta go see if it's hero time. Oh, and if you want to ambush me with training robots again, maybe try giving more warning first.
Watching as the white haired boy left the woods to follow Clyde, Tetrax was left to his own devices and could only shake his head with a light groan, he could pull a successful acquisition of a bounty but a child could apparently be the only thing that could drive him up a wall. "Heh, he gets that attitude from his mother. And a little bit of me, I suppose." Tetrax saw that another had been around, albeit more discreetly and that person turned out to be Albert.
"Here to give your take on your grandson's aptitude for combat?" he asked.
"So, you managed to sniff me out." Albert deduced, not all concerned. "Guess I really am slowing down at my age."
"Admittedly, I didn't detect your presence at first. But when the McBride boy came, I picked up a distinct shuffle elsewhere." Tetrax held up his tracking device. "You're lucky I picked up your Plumber's Badge, otherwise I would have mistaken you for an unseen threat and swiftly incapacitate you."
Rather than be offended, Albert let out a hearty laugh. "Ha! I dare ya to try, bucko. So, you know my little secret now." he unveiled his badge. "But then, you probably already knew that if you had that fancy gizmo the last time we met."
"Didn't need it. I saw how you handled yourself against two dangerous bounty hunters and though you've aged considerably, the face of the Victor over Vilgax is recognizable in any part of the universe."
Sighing somberly, Albert gazed up at the sky with nostalgia in him. "Some things you can't ever forget, no matter how many years go by." Albert then started adopting a more stern, bitter and above all else, angry frown. He felt like he was being watched, that a terror was looming over him, and those that he loved but did nothing, it made him weary of what's to come. "He's somewhere up there isn't he? Watching him, my grandson. Ready to attack ay any moment." he shook his head. "Why hasn't he showed his mug, yet?" he asked, mostly to himself.
"You should've present when he called me in." Tetrax told him, shedding some light. "When he was pursuing the transport ship carrying the Omnitrix, he sustained severe injuries from a blast to his main bridge. As he is right now, he's no threat to anyone."
"For now." the seasoned Plumber added with a scoff. "When Vilgax sets his sights on something, he doesn't let up until he has it and right now, his current prize is stuck to my grandson." his gaze hardened at the prospect of Lincoln being in his old foe's radar.
"All the more reason for him to be better prepared." Tetrax reasoned. "Lincoln is working to be a hero, but when facing the threat of Vilgax, he needs to think more than just that."
"But he's just a kid, not a soldier." Albert argued. "H-He shouldn't have to shoulder all this."
Sympathy was never something Tetrax was good at showing but he could understand Albert's reservations of involving Lincoln in this kind of life for both men know the toll such a life takes. "What's done is done." he said, evenly. "With him having the Omnitrix, the best that can be done is prepare him for the coming battles." the bounty hunter followed Albert's gaze upwards. "For all our sakes.
Tetrax wasn't kidding when he said the universe was filled with individuals looking to go to Earth so that they could try their hand in bagging the Omnitrix and relishing in the sweet rewards that would entail. But what he failed to mention was that sometimes, extraterrestrial threats don't just come from beyond the stars, that doesn't mean there aren't such threats in Earth's own backyard. In an open driveway, a lone minivan carrying a family of 4 were enjoying a leisurely drive, passing buy multiple electric transmission towers. On the support lines, a current of yellow electricity travelled through it before travelling down to the next source of energy. Right to the minivan.
As the father drove, the radio suddenly turned on, pumping out rock and roll music that surprised the family. "Honey!" his wife shouted as she attempted to calm down the baby who cried after the music went on.
The initial shock caused the car to skid side to side as the father tried to maintain a steady course which was in vain as it crashed into a tree, activating the airbags. "Honey, call your brother. We may need that tow truck after all."
The stream of yellow electricity once again traveled along the power lines, sensing the next source of power which was at a gas station with a few patrons inside. Everything was quiet until the lights began flickering on and off, startling the people, then the cash register began opening and then closing and the camera screens showed nothing but static. It wasn't until the sprinklers came on, did the people start running out of the station, with the employees following.
"Hey, get back here!" the manager yelled. "Help me keep the money dry!"
From behind the station, the stream of electricity then travelled back to the towers and atop of it, was its true form. It was small in size and resembled that of a walking battery but with short arms and legs with a yellow and black color scheme with the yellow shaped like a lightning bolt. On its back were a positive and negative symbols. Observing its handiwork, the little creature let out a series of giggles that overlapped with sparkling noises, quite satisfied with the trouble it caused.
Ever since it first arrived on this planet, the little one's been getting a kick out of causing some misfortune for any that may pique his interest, these humans were just too fun to mess around. But it wanted more, more things to mess up, more fun to have and as luck would have it, it wasn't that far away from a nearby town.
A town called Royal Woods.
"Alright, buddy give me the rundown."
High above Royal Woods was Lincoln as Jetray soared across the skies of his hometown, still having enough power to do an aerial patrol, it pays to be an eye in the sky because that way, he has a clear view of stuff that happens below. But in case he misses something, he had Clyde stationed at his house to monitor any and all emergencies and he would fly right to it in one of his fastest forms besides XLR8. In fact, that was the reason why decided to go with Jetray in the first place, his training with Tetrax wasted some of the Omnitrix's time limit but he still had enough to do some good until the watch eventually times out and goes into recharge mode.
"Okay, Jetray. All seems quiet for now, by these statistics, I'd look out for the area where you're at right now, nothing major, just some purse snatchers, but-hold on! Scanner's picking up on something...oh, man! Get to downtown, right now!" Clyde shouted in alarm. "A truck just crashed!"
Swooping down, Jetray flew to his destination at record time. He saw multiple people outside of their vehicles as he witnessed an oil truck toppled over, the driver inside with a fire reaching up to him. "Help!" the truck driver cried out, desperately trying to push the door open, but to no avail.
"The door's stuck! He can't get out!" a bystander shouted.
"Someone call the fire department! That guy was hauling propane!" another observed.
"If that truck catches fire, it'll rocket off to the moon!" Clyde informed him urgently.
Jetray flew downwards to the topped truck but the flames got more bigger, making it more dangerous for him to get close but he rose up and spun around to blow a powerful gust of winds that started putting out the smaller fires and allowing him a way through. He sent a concentrated neuro-shock blast from his tail, but not as powerful as his usual which would have blasted through the truck and unintentionally harm the driver. Instead, this was a beam that sliced the top of the vehicle open, allowing Jetray to grab the driver and flew off to land him somewhere safe. He flew back and forth above the truck, summoning powerful winds that snuffed the fire out.
"Well, that was tricky. Guess I should've went with Water Hazard if I wanted this to end fast." at that, he grimaced. Now, he was starting to sound like Tetrax, his training was so hard, he's criticizing himself. "Okay, pal, what's next?"
"Looked to be about the only emergency I could pick up on. I think you'll have to call it a day."
"Might as well." Jetray conceded, looking down at the Omnitrix symbol. "The watch should be going into research any minute now." he flew as the fire department arrived.
As he passed over the town, from a smoothie place came his sister Luan but she wasn't alone. With her was a brown haired boy about her age, this was her boyfriend, Benny. "Hey, did you just feeling something?" Luan asked, feeling a sudden gust of wind blow past her.
"I don't think so." Benny answered and heard sirens nearby. "We should get going. Don't want to be around too much action." above them was the little electrical being who followed Luan's walking form. Snickering, it travelled down where the couple was and it discreetly entered into Luan's phone without either of the two noticing.
The two passed by a man who accessing an ATM machine. The energy-based alien currently inside Luan's phone began working its magic by manipulating the machine so when the man tried using it, it didn't do anything. "Hey, what the...?" he tried once again but for reasons beyond his comprehension, no money was depositing and he was so sure he put in the right numbers.
"Hey, buddy! Mind picking things up?" someone from behind said, he now noticed that a line had started to form.
The alien creature was going to enjoy its time in Royal Woods.
For all of today, Jetray continued to scour for any sig of trouble but seeing as nothing seemed to have been happening that would require his assistance and with the Omnitrix nearing the process of recharging, he told Clude to go on home as he flew back to his neighborhood. Landing in a hiding spot, the watch timed out and he discreetly walked up to his house. "No means no, Lisa!" he heard the yell of Lana as he entered the living room where he saw said twin hold Hops in a protective manner, glaring daggers at Lisa.
"Come now, Lana. You could play a part in history." her younger sister reasoned.
"Hops sticks with me and that's that!"
"Hey, now. What's the issue?" Lincoln asked, getting involved. "You're usually getting in fights with Lola, Lans."
His tomboyish sister pointed at Lisa. "She started it, Lincoln. The little Brainiac thought it'd be okay for her to use Hops for bait to catch one of those aliens." she explained, making Lincoln lightly flinch and glanced at Lisa for confirmation.
"I realize when put in such a rather crude wording, it raises moral question. Alternatively, I merely wish for a chance to monitor and study the behavioral patterns of these extraterrestrial lifeforms. Somewhere in our town are proof of life existing beyond our own solar system, it would be out of character of me to not take such a leap."
Internally, Lincoln sighed. Since the alien hero sightings, the Loud House's resident little genius has been obsessed with learning more about them, which was natural considering her scientific nature. But Lincoln felt the little his sisters are involved with his activities when using the Omnitrix, the safer they'd be, even if it meant discouraging Lisa from her endeavors. "Lisa, you know mom and dad's new rules ever since that camping trip gone wrong. First sign of trouble, we get the heck out of there."
"But, Lincoln. This opportunity is the aspiration of every intellectual" Lisa implored. "There's so much we could learn from them, and so much they could teach us in return."
"Okay, but do you really have to use one of Lana's pets as bait?" Lincoln asked, pointing at Hops who stuck his tongue out at Lisa.
"...The orange furred specimen seemed like an easily trapped prey."
Sighing, Lincoln pushed both to upstairs. "Why don't you two cool off in your rooms? It's been a long day." getting into his own room, he collapsed on his bed, ready to call it in for tonight, paying no heed to the Omnitrix's sudden activations as the screen displayed some sort of map with a dot that took place in his own house.
Morning came fast and it was a refreshing taste for Lincoln as it was the beginning of the weekend, meaning it was two whole days of relaxation without schoolwork, although he can't guarantee there won't be developments that would force him to go hero. Presently, he was sitting comfortably on the couch reading the latest Ace Savvy comic in the living room with Luna next to him as she reached for the TV remote. "Huh?" she noticed that she couldn't feel any of the buttons and saw that all the numbers were drawn on what was obviously a block that was made to look like their remote.
"What's the matter, Luna?" the familiar cheeky voice of Luan asked from the kitchen entrance. "You look a bit clicked off." she quipped, dangling the real remote in her hand.
Gritting her teeth, Luna yanked it off. "Too early for your bogus pranks, Luan."
"Mornings are when I'm getting warmed up before pulling the big stuff." Luan shrugged. "It's like Lynn when she does those annoying ritual dances, thinking it'll bring her teams good lu-ow!" she rubbed her side after it was nudged by Luna harshly. "What the heck?!" Luna beckoned her head towards Lincoln who was too engrossed in his comic to notice. Luan made an 'O' face and worded it a different way. "Oh, I mean, like how dad reads food catalogs in the morning to find a new combo for his restaurant."
Loud knocking was then heard at the door, startling all three siblings as more barging was heard and a series of angry voices were heard outside. Lincoln was about to open only for Luna to pull him back and do the honors herself. Opening the door, she was pushed back by all the people who had gathered in front of their house. What was more surprising was how bad the people looked, there were those covered in chicken feathers, others had soda stains on their clothes, workers that were smeared in soot and children with bandages. "Is this Lo-ood residence?!" one demanded.
"It's Loud actually." Lincoln corrected, helping Luna up.
"What's all the ruckus about?" At this time, Lynn Sr. and Rita emerged from their room while the sisters came downstairs to investigate the commotion that disturbs even them.
"We're here for her!" a woman pointed at Luan.
"Me?" the comedian questioned in confusion.
"Now, people, please calm down." Lynn Sr. told them, hoping to dissuade them from doing any rash action. "What exactly do you want with our daughter?" he asked, wrapping an arm around his wife.
"Look at us and see for yourself, Loud!" a person that the Louds recognized as one of their neighbors said, gesturing to his and the others' current sates of disarray. "Your kid has gone too far with her 'practical jokes'! She's been playing pranks all over town yesterday!" the neighbor said in an accusatory tone.
"What?!" the Louds, sans Luan, shouted in surprise and turned to the sister in question.
She looked at her family and the people in apt shock. "You're don't believe them, do you?! I was hanging out with Benny all day yesterday! I don't even remember pranking anyone, dates with Benny are the only times where I keep my pranking on the minimum, you guys know that."
"You talking about that boy you were with at the smoothie shop?" an employee from that very shop recalled. "Where the dispenser you were at for a long time started going haywire after you left?"
"I couldn't decide which flavor to take!"
"How about when you and him were walking by our delivery truck full of fresh new pillows?" another questioned. "When we got out, all the pillows were completely torn, there were feathers everywhere!"
"Let's not forget the vase store you were browsing, saying it was for your "gran-gran"! Those were one of a kind and now they're all broken!"
"Don't you see, Lynn?" the neighbor from before asked the patriarch. "All these incidents have her name written all over them!"
The senior Lynn turned to Luan with crossed arms. "Luan." he said sternly, expecting her to fess up if it were true.
"Dad, I'm telling you, I didn't do any of it!"
"Luan." Rita crossed her arms as well.
"Seriously, mom? You too?!"
Sighing, Rita moved to the angry mob. "Alright, look. Right now we can't prove our daughter's innocence but at the same time, you all can't prove her being responsible so unless you want me to call the cops, I suggest you all go back to your homes and maybe take a breather for a bit. We can sort out this mess later, preferably with cooler heads." the mob looked at each other and begrudgingly decided to leave the Loud House, but still confident that it was Luan who was responsible for their misfortune. "Now, honey, did you really do what they said?"
"Oh come on, why believe them and not me?" Luan asked, a little hurt that not even her family seemed to believe her.
"I believe your history speaks for itself." Lisa pointed out.
"Yeah, like when you shaved Charles, Cliff, Walt, and Geo!" Lana recalled, holding the pets close. "The hairs didn't grow back in some places."
"I don't know, dude. Not something I wouldn't put past you." Luna held up the fake remote as an example.
"Look, why not just admit that you did and get this over with?" Lori said in annoyance. "Bad enough your childish pranks cause trouble here at home, but now you have to get the rest of town involved?"
"But guys, you know me. I never shy away from admitting to being the mastermind of pranks." Luan pointed out. Seeing that most of her family started looking away awkwardly and the rest cast doubtful looks to her, she scowled and began going up. "Fine, if that's how it is then I might as well ground myself before you could try!"
Everyone flinched once they heard a loud slam of the door.
While most of them knew Luan well enough to know that she's capable of perpetrating such jokes on unsuspecting people-thanks in part to so many April Fools' Days-Lincoln, however, couldn't help but agree that if Luan did indeed commit these acts then her pride as a top notch prankster would definitely make her take credit for them. But above all else, he could understand Luan's frustration with no one willing to give her the benefit of pleading her case and proving that she was in no way involved. As the family conversed on whether or not she was guilty, he sneaked upstairs to Luan and Luna's room where the former was glumly on her bottom bunk bed.
"Hey, Luan. You good?" Lincoln asked, tentatively.
She help her faithful dummy, Mr. Cocoanuts, to block his path. "Sorry, Slick. Ain't got no time for traitors wo don't stick by family."
"Luan, I'm not here to accuse you of anything. In fact, I...don't believe you did."
His older sister sprung up with a gasp. "R-Really?"
"You're not wrong, you'd definitely take credit for any kind of prank but in this instance, you didn't. Question is, what are you going to do about it?" he asked.
She hugged her knees close. "I don't know. How am I suppose to prove my innocence when nearly everyone in town believes I did?"
Lincoln rubbed his chin in thought until a suggestion came to mind. "Well, it would be impossible unless you had help in clearing your name? Like, maybe...me?"
His offer made Luan almost drop her puppet, and turned to him with a deeply touched expression. "You'd do that? For me?" seeing him nod in affirmation made her eyes swell up in tears and she pulled her little brother in for a hug. "Oh, thank you! Thank you!"
"You know what, chief? You're alright." Mr. Cocoanuts complimented as Luan released him. "So, how are we playing this?"
"First things first. I may need to call in some extra hands, maybe you too. We might be better off with more than just the two of us." Luan cleared her throat and motioned her dummy making Lincoln sigh. "Fine, three of us. Just make sure they're people you can trust."
Lincoln, Luan and Mr. Cocoanuts contacted the people they could depend on right now to help them figure who really committed these pranks and bust them instead of Luan. "Alright, I called Clyde yesterday and he should be here any second now. Who did you call?" Lincoln told her as they waited for their friends to arrive and begin the investigation. He's only met associates of his sisters only on rare occasions such as birthday parties or other social gatherings taking place at their house so he didn't really personally know many of their friends from work and school. A clown nose was heard, making both turn to see an 11-year-old with brown hair dressed as a clown.
"Sorry I'm late. Bike got busted last week so I gotta make due with the unicycle."
Lincoln blinked as he recognized. "Giggles?" he questioned, surprised to see another one of his Sadies' Hawkins Dance dates, though it would make sense, considering both her and his sister went to clown school.
"Oh, hey, Lincoln." Giggles greeted politely, noticing his presence. "Luan told me this was your idea."
"Uh...hi." he greeted back, albeit more awkwardly.
A car drove up and from the passenger seat came Benny. "I'm so glad you could make it!" Luan gushed happily, hugging him which he returned with just as much emotion. "Hi, Giggles, Lincoln. Is this everyone?"
"No, there should be-"
A some bomb was suddenly thrown at them, making them cough and suddenly see that Clyde appeared, having snuck into smoke while they were distracted but that wasn't the strangest part. "...Clyde, why are you wearing your One-Eyed Jack costume?" Lincoln asked his friend, seeing him pose dramatically in front of them.
"W-Why aren't you earing your Ace Savvy constume?" Clyde questioned back, just as confused.
The white hared boy pinched the bridge of his nose. "Dude, when I called to say that we had a mystery to solve, I didn't say we had to wear our costumes for it."
"But we always wear them when on the case. And she gets to dress up." he pointed to Giggles.
"Hey, I have you know that this is my causal wear, pal." Giggles clarified.
"Uh, hello? Innocent accused needing help over here?" Luan flailed her arms around to remind them what they're supposed to be doing. "If talking about clothes is gonna be a thing, should we invite Leni?" she cracked, somewhat sardonically.
"Right, right." Lincoln started to address everyone present on their primary objective. "For some of you who may not know, Luan here's been accused of pulling off a lot of pranks around town a couple of days ago. Despite mostly everyone thinking that its her, she denies everything, so to figure out who really did it before a more bigger angry mob storms the house if they manage find reason to believe that it was her." he looked to the other teenager in the group. "Benny, you were with her in the day, in question. Can you be sure it wasn't her?"
"I was with her the entire time, she didn't do anything that I didn't notice." Benny affirmed, wrapping a comforting hand around his girlfriend. "But I have a feeling that my word won't be enough."
"Which is why we have retrace both of your steps from that day." Lincoln told them. "We could ask around, find stuff that might explain how stuff went out of control when Luan was there. Let's go." the group promptly left to track down, unaware that someone who was keeping their presence hidden was following them or a giggling sound coming from Luan's pocket.
If this were a TV episode, right now would be the appropriate time for one of those montage considering Lincoln and everyone else were moving all around Royal Woods, to all the places where Luan and Benny where, hearing what both were doing and if anyone who were there can tell them if they saw someone other than Luan tamper with anything. Unfortunately for them, by all counts, everything started to go haywire the minute Luan left the premises, making it too much of a coincidence. Lincoln would've gone Wildmutt to detect any scent but he couldn't without risking exposing his secret to everyone that wasn't Clyde or wasting the limiter on the watch. Best he could do was make use of his observation and deductive skills along with the help of the others to help his sister get through this. But no matter where they went, it was the same story and any hope of Luan being innocent was slipping away and they were a bit low on time.
"Okay, so the movie theater was a bust." Clyde crossed off the location on the town map. "All that's left are the park, a pastry class, and the post office but I get the feeling those won't be much help either."
"Man, if it weren't for the fact that we were tight, I'd believe it myself." Giggles said, glancing at Luan who was standing aside with Benny.
Lincoln didn't like their chances right now, at this rate, this whole day would've been a big fat waste of time and Luan would be scorned by the town for being an unrepentant prankster. "Clyde, you go and plan out where to head next. I need time to think." with him gone, that only left Lincoln and Giggles, the latter glancing at him with a concerned expression.
"You alright?"
"One of my sisters is about to go down in Royal Woods history as a bad person and nothing I do seems to be enough to help her." Lincoln surmised grimly.
Giggles consoled him with an appreciative smile. "Hey, don't beat yourself up too much about it, Linc. If you could figure out how to juggle four dates, then I'm sure you can figure something out."
"Heh, still can't figure out how I managed to pull through all that without a single punch in the face." he remarked, earning a chuckle from Giggles. "I'd have called Zach to also help but he was too busy."
Wincing, she rubbed her nape. "Actually, it's sort of a good thing that he was. It was fun hanging out with him but I can't say I enjoyed wearing a tin foil hat every time I came over to his house. No offense to the guy."
"That's just Zach for ya." Lincoln looked over to his sister who told Benny to give her some space. "I'll be back." he gently walked over to Luan who was feeling more melancholy as opposed to her joking nature. "Hey, we should be heading out for the next place, maybe our luck will change there." he said, hoping that would lift her spirits up, only to fail.
"What's the point?" Luan replied. "Everywhere we went, it was the same thing, nothing happened until after I left and frankly, I'd believe them if it wasn't me."
"Luan..."
His sister faced him, he couldn't bear to watch that face that's usually full of laughs be so put down, it reminded him when Luan briefly gave up on comedy after overhearing him and the other sisters voicing their complaints about her jokes and gags. "I wondered why it was so hard for everyone else back home to believe that I wasn't the one who did all that stuff. But after hearing how things played out, I really do seem like the type to do it. All those April Fools are proof enough." she always played all those times off as having a good natured laugh but after the family finally got back at her, she took the time to reflect and realize why her family felt the need to either send her away or hide from her when that holiday comes by. She admits that she could get carried away, so much so that the people she expect to be by her side wouldn't be so willing when the situation calls for it.
"Yeah, but you're not the same as you were back then." Lincoln reassured her. "And that's all in the past, it doesn't matter now, what does matter is proving everyone wrong and we can't do that if you're not up for it."
"I appreciate it, Lincoln, more than you can imagine. But, you're probably wasting your time. If you need me, I'll just be checking my phone out, it's been buggy for a while."
With even Luan beginning to lose hope, there seems to be not much Lincoln or anyone else could do at this point but for the white haired Loud, giving up wasn't an option. "Why are you persisting?"
"GAH!" Lincoln jumped at another sudden appearance by Lucy who decided to make her presence known. "Lucy?! Where did-How did-Wait, were you following us the whole time?" she nodded at his question. "Why?"
"I saw you leave with Luan and your friends. A part of me was curious to see how this would turn out and I didn't really have anything better to do." his gothic sister explained. "Lincoln, I have to know, why are you going so far? The likelihood of Luan being responsible is pretty high." she asked.
"Yeah, but just because Luan's known for being the one to cause some chaos just for a laugh, doesn't mean it always has to be her, especially if she's so sure that it wasn't her." he adamantly argued. "She should be given a chance, at the very least."
Seeing her big brother like this made Lucy recall a certain event in the past where he was in the same boat as Luan for clogged toilet incident, no one but her came to defend his claims of innocence but even then, it was only so she could cover her own butt as she was the one was responsible but rather than rat her out, he took the fall. Not only did he have to endure ridicule and teasing from their sisters but was also grounded, meaning he had to miss out on an Ace Savvy convention that he was really excited for. "Yeah...I suppose you would understand her plight better than anyone." she admitted, starting to feel a bit guilty.
"...You could help out if you want?" Lincoln told her, sensing a bit of confliction from his younger sister.
Lucy rubbed her left arm, anxiously. "I-I don't-"
"Um, you guys!"
Everyone turned once hearing Luan's fearful yell and widened their eyes once they saw her phone float out of her hands as it started emitting powerful surges of yellow electricity that began striking everything around them. Something began to emerge from it, which eventually revealed itself to be the small alien creature who giggled wildly as it faced the awestruck youths. "Luan, why was there a little lightning thing in your phone?!" Benny asked, beginning to stand in front of his girlfriend.
"How should I know?!" she yelled back.
"Everyone get down!" Lincoln instinctively grabbed Lucy and pushed themselves down to avoid the electric blasts the alien sent out. It started flying around until stopping mid-air and began to absorb all the energy it could detect in the surrounding area and suddenly, it started multiplying into more of its kind, all giggling and cackling. It didn't take long for the people nearby to see this spectacle and a panic quickly started, everyone scouring away, trying to escape from the attacks. Looking at the ensuing chaos, Lincoln looked to Clyde and help up his left wrist to show the Omnitrix and his friend nodded in understanding, beginning to get the group out of there. "Lucy, we gotta get out of here!" he pulled her where the others were running and pushed he forward but deliberately stopped moving to make sure they were all ushered to safety.
"Lincoln?!" Lucy called out, but was already too far away to go back for him.
Running to hide in an alleyway, Lincoln scrolled through the Omnitrix before making his choice and slamming down on the core, a green flash surrounding the area. Back with the aliens, they continued they're onslaught with nary a care for whoever was unfortunate enough to be caught in the crossfire of their actions, laughing it all off. But then they noticed a motorcycle driving in, one that was driving on its own and was colored black with green circuitry lines running through it and the Omnitrix symbol on it, two blasters emerged from its front and started blasting at all of them, this made the electric aliens glare at it and three of them mounted on top of it.
"Hey! No free rides!" Upgrade yelled, still sounding like Lincoln. He swerved left and right as more and more of these things began swarming it, forcing the alien hero to demerge from it and saw as the aliens crashed it into a mailbox. "Guess I don't have to worry about leaving a note for the owner." he muttered quietly, so that no one could hear him as in this form, he still retains his normal voice. Upgrade stood up as he witnessed these things continue to make a mess of everything. "Man, you guys sure love chaos." that got him thinking, their apparent penchant for violent jokes, and that prime one that came from Luan's phone and it all began to come together like an unsolvable puzzle. "Wait...you were the one that did all that stuff that Luan was blamed for!" he pointed at the original. "You really caused a lot of trouble for her, you know!"
All he got in return was a rude raspberry from them. Glaring at them with his one eye, Upgrade looked around to see what he could merge with that could pack a serious punch once he upgrades it. But anything that caught his attention was being ransacked by these things, further infuriating him to no end that his single eye glared and suddenly, a powerful blast of green energy fired from his eye that struck many of them, making Upgrade jump back a bit. "Woah! Didn't know Upgrade could do that! Guess I need more practice with this guy."
"Funny. I was about to say the same thing." he looked up to see Tetrax hovering over him in a second hoverboard, this one colored blue as opposed to the one he gave Lincoln, he also had on his mask.
"Tetrax? What are you doing here?" Upgrade questioned.
"Gluto informed me of a sudden fluctuation of electrical energy from this area, I came to investigate and if you're already in one of your forms, then you muat have found the source." the bounty hunter turned and saw the aliens and immediately grimaced. "Oh no, it had to be those ones."
"You know what these things are."
Tetrax shook off his annoyance to a more serious demeanor. "Explanations can come later, right now, we must drive them away for the time being. I don't suppose you have an idea."
"Can't say I know how to take care of electric aliens right now, but maybe we could drive them away from here. There any special tool to do that?" Upgrade asked.
"I have it covered, you should just focus on your part of this plan." Tetrax told him as he flew off on his board and held just the right tool for the job that he had Gluto send down to him from the ship. In his bounty hunting history, this wasn't the first time he's had to handle aliens with abilities derived from electricity, especially these ones. If there's anything he knows about them is that they have the mental capacity of small children with short attention spans and for these, there's only one thing that can catch their attention.
A fresh source of energy. In Tetrax's right hand was a rod with a yellow glowing orb on the top which gave off an electric surge that the aliens noticed and instantly became drawn to it. Whatever they were doing was abandoned and they all swarmed to the energy source, Tetrax made them follow him until they were at the next street turn. A honking noise was then heard and there came Upgrade who had merged with a garbage truck and dispatched long crane arms that began picking them one by one once Tetrax helped line them up. "Whole new meaning of taking out the trash." Upgrade quipped coming to a stop, but screamed when one straggler sent a volt of electricity through his system, making him release himself from the truck, freeing the others in the process who quickly escaped. "That was not fun." Upgrade groaned as the Omnitrix timed out.
Tetrax landed down and got off his hoverboard to help him get up. "It's to be expected. They are very troublesome, especially when they're in packs." he pointed to the mass of aliens who were swarming around them, not taking kindly to their fun getting ruined. Just then, the Steelroller charged in, knocking them out of the way.
Stopping in front of them, Albert opened the door. "Need a lift?"
"Pop-Pop? You're here, too?"
"Was strolling about until I heard some commotion. Had a feeling you might be here." Albert explained.
"A tactical would be a sound strategy given the circumstances." Tetrax told Lincoln.
Seeing that the Omnitrix was now in recharge mode and that they outnumber them, Lincoln had to reluctantly agree. "Fine. Let's move before we're burnt to crisps!"
His Pop-Pop drove the Steelroller straight out of there once the passengers were onboard.
Lincoln instructed Albert to take them to where Tetrax had trained Lincoln from the day before and the three tried planning their next move, Albert had turned on the radio inside the RV to keep them up to date with how Royal Woods is faring with this. A stay at home order was advised and in case the aliens were sighted, the authorities were to be called and hope that one of the alien superheroes would arrive but with the watch still in restart, the civilians would have to wait a bit. Tetrax took the liberty in explaining to Lincoln exactly what he was up against, putting up a hologram of the aliens that they encountered with every info involved. "They are called Nosedeenians. Beings that are comprised entirely of electrical energy, hailing from the Nosedeen Quasar that emits vasts amount of energy." the Petrosapien informed.
"What are they doing on Earth?" Lincoln asked.
"Nosedeenians are a impulsive lot. They're entire reason for existing is to have 'fun'." Tetrax answered, using air quotes on the last part. "Unfortunately for the rest of the universe, their definition of fun pertains to causing nothing but mischief and trouble to get a laugh. They're not hostile by nature, they just have no self-control or sense of danger in the damage they cause."
"So I was right." Lincoln glared. "They were the ones doing all those pranks that Luan was blamed for. One was hiding inside her phone, guess it was tired of hiding. But where did the whole duplication come from?"
"If one absorbs enough energy, then it can multiply at an unstoppable rate." Tetrax rubbed his sharp thin in thought. "Truth be told, this probably isn't the first time they've acted on this planet."
"What do you mean?"
Tetrax then showed blurry images of what looked like these Nosedeenians taken all across the globe. "Since I decided to stay here and survey your overall skill level, I've been scouring your planet's worldwide web, as a way to have a better understanding. Though there were many concepts I could barely comprehend, I came across websites that detailed supposed alien sightings, these showed images that bore the likeness of Nosedeenians. I must say the resemblance was uncanny."
Albert crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow at him. "If you knew about these things, why didn't say anything before?"
"If I'm being perfectly honest, Albert, I had hoped that I was wrong and it was merely human children in strange costumes like most images there are. In fact, one such human blogger gave them a nickname of sorts, Megawatts."
Lincoln hummed in thought. "Not bad. But could definitely be workshopped, maybe have 'buzz' or 'shock' somewhere in it. Alright, so what can we do to stop them? 'Cause not only did they frame my sister but the town won't last long as long as it stays as their personal playground. Tetrax, if you know so much, shouldn't you know a way?"
"They don't attack unless provoked. We could use a lightning rod of some sort, but we can't risk them zipping underground until they resurface." Tetrax replied.
"Then maybe you could find something that isn't lodged to the surface. Something that can hold them." Lincoln suggested.
Tetrax contemplated that plan. It was good in theory but considering how dangerous and unpredictable the Megawatts were, the odds of them succeeding were pretty slim. "On my ship, I have a certain item that's perfect for trapping Nosedeenians without any hope of breaking free, but it hasn't been tested just yet."
"Well, now's a good a time as any." Lincoln told them as the Omnitrix reactivated.
For the Megawatts, they were having the time of their lives, messing up phone booths, shooting out soda drinks and snack foods from vending machines and blowing out televisions that were on display. Presently, they were making a mess of city hall where Mayor Davis and her staff had barricaded themselves inside as the Megawatts continued their chaos gleefully. "Oh, this is a disaster." the mayor grimaced. "Even more so than the world's biggest rubber band ball we tried passing off as a tourist attraction!" she recalled as she looked outside through the window blinders, makign sure not to get noticed by these annoying little pests.
"How was I suppose to know kids wouldn't mind the signs?" one of her aids said in defense. "They couldn't have been more clearer, I mean come on! They should know when not to touch something!"
One Megawatt looked to the building and got the attention of his companions and pointed to where the town's leadership was being held and they all caught on the plan. What better fun is there for them besides sticking it to authoritative figures, they began charging up with energy, ready to unleash everything they got on them. A stream of fire blocked their path, however and they looked atop the building to see Heatblast standing there with a determined glower at them.
"I'm only gonna give you guys this one warning. Knock off the funny business or else I'll have to fry your tingling little butts!" he said to them, showing them he meant business.
Rather than be intimidated by his appearance, the Megawatts attacked him by blasting currents of electricity at him, forcing him to dodge and jump from the top. Under Heatblast's feet, a wave of fire emitted from them, allowing him to surf through the skies with a cheer as he continuously dodging more blasts from his enemies. "Whoo! Now this is I can get used to!" Heatblast fired back at them with fire blasts, making them scream and scatter around, not having as much fun as they did before. "Come on, losers! Too slow to catch me?" he atunted as he sky-surfed away, much to the ire of the Megawatts who wanted to teach this Pyronite a lesson for ruining their fun.
To Heatblast, this was perfect.
Their focus was completely on him and him alone.
He had the Megawatts follow him until they were at the outskirts of town where there was a tall water tower looking over them, which was right where Heatblast wanted them. "You guys wanna know what's real funny! Getting soaked!" this may be a bit over the top but it was a necessary measure to stop them. Blasting fire balls on the support beams, the water tower toppled over, breaking apart upon impact to the ground and unleashing a wave of water onto the Megawatts. Contact with the water made weakened them considerably, making some of the copies disappear through small explosions, but there were still plenty enough to cause more trouble. Heatblast landed on the ground and whistled loudly for them to turn to him and he made funny faces at them in a mocking manner. Growling, what was left of the powerful Megawatts flew at him making him smirk to himself as he jumped out of the way, confusing the aliens. That confusion turned into panic when they flew straight into a plastic tube leading to a containment unit with a large glass orb, trapping them once Tetrax closed the entrance.
The Megawatts tried breaking free but the glass trap couldn't be penetrated and all they succeeded in doing was powering the unit. Heatblast walked forward and gave them a mock two fingered salute. "Now that was a solid burn."
"Well, that went better than expected." Tetrax remarked, genuinely surprised as Heatblast turned back into Ben.
"Hey, they don't call me the man with the plan for no reason." Lincoln nudged his large arm. "But this was a team effort, right?"
"Team..." Tetrax hummed, he had to admit, he liked the sound of that.
With the Megawatts taken care of and transported off-world, Royal Woods finally got the chance to settle down and rebuild the damages that the pests caused when they ran rampant. For Lincoln, he rushed back to home where the family was waiting, once getting inside, he was enveloped in a hug by both Luan and Lucy. "Lincoln, you're okay!" Lucy said in relief, her voice slightly cracking a bit in a surprise show of emotion. After getting separated in the crowd, the little goth and her comedic older sister were concerned for what had happened to him. "I couldn't find you after what happened?"
"Where were you, Linc?" Luan asked.
"Hiding out with some friends." Lincoln responded. "Wasn't sure when it'd be the right time to go home. How about you two? Are you alright?"
"That's something we have to talk about." Rita said s the rest of the family walked forward with guilty expressions all over their faces. "Luan, after watching the news and from what you and Lucy told us, we're sorry for doubting you."
"Literally."
"Should've had your back, sister of mine."
"Poo-Poo."
"We totes should've believed you."
"Even though we had ample reason to do so, we do deeply apologize for not having fait in your innocence." Lisa was nudged at the side by Lana for how a bit insensitive that apology was.
Luan smiled, more understanding. "It's cool, guys. Considering my track record, I guess I didn't really help my case, but really, I guess I should be a falttered. You guys must really think I have the mad genius of pulling those types of pranks." she and her family shared laugh over her remark. "But seriously, I guess should lighten up on the pranks a bit."
"Maybe, but as long as they don't cause allergic reactions or intense bodily harm, or involve dirty diapers, we can work something out." Lynn Sr. said, wrapping an arm around his daughter. "Don't think we won't be light on the punishment if you do though. Come on, dinner's still on schedule and no alien attacks are gonna ruin it."
The Louds were free to enjoy each other's company again, a lesson or two having been learned.
