A/N~ Here I am! Finally, right? Gosh, it's been so long since I've been in this story, so here I am with a quick chapter! Sorry I took so long
Reviews
DB-20: I've watched all of RWBY Volume 6 thus far (should be ovious by now XD) And no, I haven't played Legacy for a really long while. It just wasn't my game, really.
waterlynx11: God dammit, barb, indeed! XD
Dragon Bone Z: Yeah, after finishing that season, I was completely underwhelmed by it all. An average 4/10 for me. Beast Morphers has been a vast improvement though
Also, thanks to all the people who have liked and followed thus far. Really sorry again for the really long update. I've been trying to get things out of my head for a while now, but hopefully, this will push the story forward!
Chapter 10: Rockin' Out with a Yang!
~SARAH'S POV~
"Are you sure we want to stick around here?" I reluctantly asked my cowboy friend, as we looked at what appeared to be a nightclub in the dark corners of the city we were in. I didn't know what came over Levi's mind when he said we should check out the shadier areas of the city. This secluded area really gave me the creeps, seeing nobody and almost nothing but closed up buildings and trash-filled streets. I was sure this was a place no one wanted to barge into.
"Relax." laughed Levi, waving a hand at me. "This is my kind of place."
"More like the kind of place you'd meet some ruffians." I so decided to say.
"Like I said; my kind of place, believe it or not." No, I couldn't really believe him. Levi didn't seem like the guy who would go to an alley and rough up some crooks, and yet here, he was smiling wide in front of a bar like it was a normal day at the park! I guess stardom could give you access to the not-so swell places, after all. "Just stick by me, and you'll be fine."
"I hope you're right, Levi." I still thought this was a bad idea, but decided to stay close to him, otherwise, someone was going to eye me the wrong way…
"Come on! We've dealt with Kudabots, Bashers, and big ugly monsters. What's a bunch of clubbies gonna do?" Clubbies? Yep, he was definitely hiding a life behind that rock star façade, alright. Seriously, if the others found out he had been to places like this, they'd freak. But then, what was the point? Levi was still the golden heart (no pun intended) of the team, the life of the party. I guess it was natural for him to walk into clubs like this, considering he enjoyed the thrill of music. Truly enough, the club did emit that catchy beatbox theme that contrasted with his thirst for rock smashes and guitar riffs.
Fortunately, it was quite bright, fresh from a night's sleep in our tents at the nearby park, disguised as the citizens of this new world. The secrecy of our mission was to be maintained with the best of caution. We only needed to find traces of alien activity in this area, not knowing what this world had to offer.
When we entered the bar, the whole room was unlike any dance club I had ever seen. It's much larger, almost doubling the size of any of my school's classrooms. There was open floor built with a colourfully lit dancing ground, only with very few people enjoying the raving beat of hip-hop being played from the DJ stand at the other end of the room. Said DJ was wearing a very weird stuffed bear's head over his own, managing to the beat of the music. The few dancers on the floor were all wearing what looked like tuxedos and red shades, moving to the very disorientating rhythm of this weird track.
I found myself a little car sick, smelling the stench of drunkards and sweat within the air that made my nose twitch irritably. I had to pinch my nose with my fingers to flush out the disgusting smell, and when I looked to my right, Levi was actually rather cool about it, almost like he was in his usual place in life. Seriously, what has he done in his career to enjoy this mess?
"Stick around. See if you can find any answers. If anyone asks, tell them you're just visiting." he told me before walking towards the nearby bar, being manned by a guy dressed in a suit with a goatee smudged around his chin.
"Where are you going?" I asked him. He just gave me a smile and a thumbs up, pointing it at the location.
"Where else?" he shrugged his shoulders, nonchalantly heading over for a beverage. I couldn't really believe he was actually suggesting to get some alcoholic drink like he was. No one in my team would be that daring to try, at least not yet…
"You drink?" I retorted in shock.
"Just a little." Again, just decided to be very chill about taking a drink. Heck, we didn't even know what kind of stuff they serve around here, no matter how similar the humans here were. "What? A superstar's life ain't always innocent." I had to hope he knew what he was doing, let alone the fact that he had done drinking only on occasion. I mean, a superstar does have his luxuries, but Levi seemed like such a nice guy that I wouldn't believe he would have a thing for heavy drinks. Hopefully, the drinks here in this world weren't as powerful as they would be on Earth…
In the meantime, I took my turn to look out for any trouble, just in case. In such a wacky place like this, of course, there would be trouble. It was only a matter of time before things would heat up really bad…
~LEVI'S POV~
Okay, so I told Sarah to look out for trouble, while I went on my own end of the investigation. Clearly, someone from these parts of a city would have the inside information on any shady forces that would act up against the peace. Though I had to be very careful not to pull in the wrong crowd; who knew who these guys were working for?
Still, it was worth the chance to take. I had to question the local bartender, who was busy checking out his stock of beverages in the shelves. The guy didn't really seem to pay attention when I approached the bar table, so I coughed up to get his attention. Turning around, he saw me waiting for my shot. He looked at me like he didn't want any business done, staring like I was hiding something.
"What would it be?" he asked me. I looked at the vast collection of drinks that he had, wondering if any of them wasn't too potent. There were some good names that made them seem safe, but I couldn't really risk simply accepting a drink if I wasn't to get too drunk.
"Strawberry Sunrise… Lemon Wreckage…" I read through the labels of the drinks I caught, including one that looked very… bizarre… "Headlight Fluid?" I just couldn't pick out which drink to buy without getting wasted, so I had to pick out the safest option yet. "Uhhh… I'll have some… water if you have it?" I knew my choice wasn't in the norm in these places, but the guy just turned around and instantly grabbed a glass of fresh water for me. At least, I hope it was fresh… As I took a drink, the guy was looking at me as if he thought I was some other continent. Well, couldn't blame him; I was wearing my signature cowboy hat after all.
"You… uh? Ain't from around here, are 'ya?" he awkwardly asked me. I put the glass down after a sip of my drink, grinning at him as I told him.
"You could say that, partner."
"Right…" Even then, he didn't seem to care. That's cool; the less he asked about us, the better. We still had to ask around for any signs of weird monsters around, confirming whether they were part of Galvanax's gang of contestants or his meddling Kudabots. So, off he went to continue managing his bar while I sat down to start my investigation.
~SARAH'S POV~
So far, so good. Nothing to worry about, no one to face. The patrons were just dancing the day away while Levi was out drinking something that I hope wasn't too strong. I wouldn't want to drag away a drunken Gold Ranger back to Brody in case things went south.
So, I was pretty much content sitting idly by at a table, leaning my head against my hand. The music was so loud, I was cursing mentally, wondering if I should just tell the guy to lower down the volume. Then again, I had to relent, not wanting to start a scene, since everyone was having a heck of a good time.
But then, after waiting for Levi to finish up, I heard the doors open up from afar. From there, I caught sight of a rather big girl with blonde hair, walking into the club with bravado. She certainly didn't look at all helpless when entering this pub of men. Her choice of outfit seemed to suggest that she was all for the danger. Nothing wrong with a girl proving herself to be macho in these parts, but that was certainly a good way to show it.
The blonde girl walked right in, about to pass two men up on the stairs; two men who she immediately pushed down! All of a sudden, the whole room came to a sudden stop, as everyone turned their heads to see the girl up at the entrance. They seemed to eye her, not just as a suggestive object of interest, but rather like she was about to kill someone.
That was true when, all of a sudden, they drew out what appeared to be a full arsenal of guns! I immediately panicked, almost about to jump up and run. It was just so unexpected and, the danger jumping out right out of the blue. Seeing these men with actual weapons in their hands made me feel very alert, even if they weren't pointing them at me.
And yet, with all those guns aiming at the girl, she just walked down with suave, not backing down one bit. The surprises just kept mounting up for me, just to see her move through the crosshairs like it was some red carpet photo shoot! She just headed for Levi without any care, seating herself onto the stool to join him.
I didn't know what Levi was heading for, but I hope he wasn't going to get the end of her apparent temper tantrum.
~YANG'S POV~
Just as I went in, those guns began clicking and were aimed right at me. A dozen barrels, loaded with lead that was about to fly right for my face. I could see the pointer fingers of Junior's boys all shaking to pull the triggers and end me.
Like hell I'd run… Neither did I choose to fight them. My mood was too swingy to even care about beating them all up. I figured I'd just walk past them without harming their backsides and sit myself down. Junior was there, watching me in absolute fear, while another guy was looking at me curiously.
I took the other seat next to the man, not once looking back at him, not even going to ponder about the weird cowboy hat he was wearing. A different style for different folks, I guess. Junior kept staring at me with caution, with his dirty eyes on me. And his men? Well, they still had their guns behind me. The cowboy next to me was spooked out about the guns, so I knew this was not going to end well if I, at least, be merciful.
"Not in the mood right now, Junior… So you'll live." I waved my hand back to let the boys know that I won't bother him this time. A dozen more clicks behind me told that they heeded my word, but I could still feel their animosity just shooting at me from their eyes. I decided to lean onto the counter to order my drink from Junior, who was already shaking in terror with my presence.
"What do you want, Blondie?" asked Junior.
"The usual." I'd always tell Junior exactly what I would want. Strawberry Sunrise, no ice. With the little umbrella on top. Well, not this time. I was just not that happy to torment him today. "You owe me."
"Owe you?" he exasperatedly groaned. "You tore down my spot, and you think I owe you anything?!"
"You owe me for sparing your life." I answered him, straight to the point. No damn given. Immediately, Junior got the point. I knew he wouldn't ask twice after what happened a few months back.
I then got back to resting my chin down onto my palm, solemnly pondering over what to do for the day. My temper was already broken after what my sister vowed to do and, apparently, Weiss and Blake just letting her go. I could have gone after her myself, but I knew Ruby was
"Coming right up." He turned around to get me the drink. In the meantime, I turned my head to see the cowboy kid looking at me, like I was some celebrity or something. Perhaps my little entrance in the bar made him jump really bad, just enough to not stop staring at me with alarm. All I had to say to him was a simple, coy 'hello' to assure him that I came in peace, and any grudge held in this place would be on Junior, those two brats working for him, and the other boys around.
"What's up?" I nodded coolly. From the looks of him, he did seem to come from somewhere really hot. Maybe Vacuo? He looked like he was dressed for hot climates, so it made sense that he might be from the hottest of them all. And… I gotta admit, he, too, did look hot…
"Uhhh…" he talked with a stalled pace, shaky upon laying his eyes on me. "You a regular in these parts?"
"You have no idea." I looked back to the front, sighing in discontent over the day and waited for my drink. But the guy didn't seem to let it slide and proceeded to talk to me. Well, I didn't really mind a bit of some small talk to pass the time, as long as it was someone who didn't seem too bad.
"Had a rough day?" he inquired.
"Quite." I nonchalantly sighed. At that time, Junior came over with two drinks in his hands. He passed the Strawberry Sunrise to me, letting me look into the pink liquid, topped with the light pink foam and the little purple umbrella. Once I was satisfied with the choice, I took out my lien and coughed it up, giving it to Junior. When he took the money, he seemed a little confused, like me giving money was the strangest thing he ever saw. Hard to blame him, since my last visit to the bar wasn't exactly so profitable for him.
"Err… You feelin' okay, Blondie?" he stuttered.
"Just take the damn money, Junior." I warned him, prompting him to take the lien before I'd changed my mind. He then turned to the boy next to me and handed something very plain and dull, lacking any colour and flavour, as far as I saw.
"And here's your water, kid." Water? In a bar? Really? Why did he have to come all this way just to have a cup of water, where you can have it pretty much everywhere else that was safer? I couldn't put my finger on why he would come here if that was all he was going to enjoy.
"Thanks." He just took the glass and drank a bit of the fresh water. Meanwhile, I had to break up the silence between us. I usually don't pass up the offer to talk to a boy like him, mainly for the usual reasons, but I'd rather talk to someone who was eager to just talk; nothing more.
"Say, I've never seen you around here before. You new in town?" I asked him.
"Yeah. My friend and I are kinda looking around." he told me, gesturing the other girl on the other side of the room. From the looks of her, she was looked a lot more lost than the guy next to me. It made me wonder why she was all the way there while her friend was tending to Junior at the bar. Was it a nasty breakup between the two, if they ever were dating or anything? I couldn't tell, so I had to ask him later, perhaps ask the girl to join us too.
"Newbies, huh?"
"Yep." After hearing what I needed to hear, I dug into my pocket and took out a silver coin. I flipped it up and it fell onto the counter, catching his attention. That was the amount of lien needed to afford that cup of water he just ordered, so I thought I'd at least offer him a free treat to welcome him to the city.
"Welcome to Vale." I gave a small smile before we brought our glasses together for a cheer.
CLINK!
~LEVI'S POV~
And so, I've gotten myself into a conversation with this bombastic girl, who just made an explosive entrance into the bar. I wanted to run, but when she sat down and started talking to me, I immediately stopped myself and continued to converse.
She seemed like she was having a bad day, so maybe it wouldn't hurt to just talk to her onwards and, perhaps, get some answers over what kind of weird things had happened around here. Since this world was already populated by humans who could speak our language, it would be much easier than I thought to narrow down on the bizarre. Maybe she had seen some of the monsters and Galvanax's goons lurking around. I mean, if she was so chill about coming to this shady bar, then I wouldn't assume less of how much else she would see.
"So…" I began to question, taking a sip of water in between. "Have you seen anything… unusual, lately?" At the utter from her mouth, she just laughed it off like my question was pointless, as if I was not in the know of what would really happen in this dimension.
"Please. Everything happening around here's unusual." she told me, leaning her cheek on her fist. "Gotta be specific, pal." She wanted me to be specific? That was going to be tricky part. Galvanax's goons came in all shapes and sizes; plus, I didn't know what kind of other weird stuff was flying, running, creeping or whatever stuff that went around there? In other words, I was lost in translation, thinking of some simpler ways to describe our enemies.
Some part of me even irked at telling the girl anything that we knew. We promised Brody that we would keep a low profile on the situation at hand, only levelling up our game when absolutely necessary. This wasn't that necessary time… Still, I had to lock in to something. Any answer would still be an answer.
"Alright. How about weird, monstrous creatures going around?" I tried to open up the investigation a little bit and asked her of the obvious. But to my surprise, she didn't seem weirded out, awkward, or even baffled of my question. She just laughed it off, not even troubled by what was told to her, like nothing really surprised her.
"You serious?" she finished chuckling, sipping more of her drink with her straw. "I've seen monsters every day."
"Okay…?" I hesitated to move on, wondering if she drank too much of that stuff, if it ever was filled with alcohol, that is. "What do they look like?" Again, just a casual response to my question. I didn't know if I should continue, considering her taste for a stronger drink than mine would ever be.
"You've been under the shell for too long, man." she told me, almost too relaxed. "Don't you ever hear about the Grimm?"
"Grimm?" I didn't know what these Grimm were, but it sounded like something that I would dare meet in a dark alley. These must had been some sort of dark force or creatures which roam this world, which probably explained why the city was so walled when we saw it from the Astro Zord.
"Okay, seriously, dude. Get out more." The blonde swirled her drink, looking so relaxed about these forces of darkness that were haunting the place. And to think, everything looked so peaceful when we first arrived, now I had to hear about some shadowy things around like it was a common occurrence. I hoped that there was a strong force of authority to keep things in check here.
"I was thinking more of the alien creatures roaming around here." I evaluated more, but she gave me the same response and just laughed it off.
"Come on, man. You think anything's uglier than the Grimm? There's nothing on Remnant's that's damn uglier than those things." She then drank down another round of her drink, finishing it up before wiping her mouth in refreshed glee. But then, I saw her cool smile turn upside down, face slowly changing to one of questioning uncertainty. "Although…"
"Although?"
"There was one ugly beast of a monster I saw at Forever Fall, recently." She was about to go on. Maybe she did know something lurking elsewhere. This could go somewhere; I just knew it. But then, as she was about to continue, she just slammed her fists on the table, groaning with apparent distress. "Ugh! Who am I kidding? Why would you care?" The bar must had gotten to her badly. She seemed very tired about something and from the look of her eyes, she really didn't want to go on, like she really needed these drinks to chug down.
I thought this was going nowhere, so I had to spice things up with an incentive to bait her in. That is; if she wasn't drunk enough… So, I pulled out a bit of cash I took, five dollars, to order up another drink. Yeah, I know; I shouldn't be giving her more of a reason to being even drunker, nor should I bribe someone into talking, but I felt she needed a little more pleasure from the beverages, so I supposed a few bucks wouldn't hurt.
"Here. My treat." Maybe if I got a little closer to her, then maybe she'd spill the beans. She took the note and looked at it. That was when I noticed the confusion on her face, like she was investigating the dollar. Afterwards, she directed her eyes to me, grinning out of amusement.
"What the heck is this? Play money?" she laughed, making me feel confused as well.
"It's… five dollars."
"Okay, first of all, paper money isn't common these days." "Second, I don't know what kind of money is this 'dollar'."
"Okay…"
~SARAH'S POV~
I sat by, watching the room for any signs of trouble. To be honest, given the type of place I was in, trouble was quite likely to happen anytime soon. The men in their suits were boogying it out on the dance floor, dancing like Victor and Monty on a prom night (assuming they do get dates, that is). Meanwhile, I just sat at a table, with nothing to drink to not risk getting drunk myself, watching Levi talk with some girl who just made a rough entrance, scaring the heck out of the men in the room (armed men, mind you) and proceeded to sit next to him and acted like the friendliest person in town. This place really had some interesting folks around here, but I ain't gonna mess with someone like her. Good thing Levi was actually getting to know her, otherwise he'd be beaten to a pulp or something.
Just then, I heard some mumbling behind me, letting me turn around to see two men whispering to each other. They were both peering at the drinking bar where Levi and the girl were still talking, one of them even stroking his big beard while the other smirked. For some reason, I felt that something was definitely off about them, my hand already reaching to my hip to pull out my Morpher in case anything was about to go down.
My nerves edged further as they stood up from their seats and walked towards me. I was about to pull out my Morpher to take action, but instead, they just moved past me and headed to the bar. While I was relieved that they weren't targeting me, them heading to the bar, towards Levi and that girl, was what gave me the creeps. I just knew they were looking for trouble with them, perhaps more so towards the girl. I had to jump right in before anything terrible happened to them.
Though, at the bottom of my heart, I felt the burning feeling that the girl had something cooking up, if her explosive entrance was anything to go by…
~THIRD PERSON POV~
"I'm Levi, by the way." said the cowboy singer.
"Yang." added Yang, finally getting to know the new kid on the block. The two customers of the bar were now beginning to socialize a little more, starting with introductions of themselves to each other. "So, seriously, where you from?"
"It's… hard to say. See, I'm from out in the wilderness." Levi answered not so subtlety. He wasn't really lying to her when he said he came from 'out in the wilderness'. The tours he had taken back home had pretty much given him a sort of 'mobile home' in his trailer, only returning home to Arkansas when all was said and done, for a while, at least.
"Seriously?" uttered Yang. She wasn't aware of Levi's true origins, so she thought the boy just came from somewhere in Vacuo, by the looks of his clothes. It was a small bit of the unknown that Levi was willing to use to cover his mission. "For someone who came from the wild, you sure don't know much about what goes on out there, huh?"
"Sort of." Levi shrugged his shoulders. "So, you're going to tell me about what happened in that forest? About another creature?"
"Why are you so curious?" Yang rested the side of her head over her fist, grinning with intrigue over Levi's interests over her little encounter.
"Let's just say, I've got interest in the weird and dangerous." Levi had to turn up the playing field and try and get her to talk.
"Ooh. Tough guy." cooed Yang. But just as she was about to get on with the conversation, she heard footsteps coming from behind her. She didn't need to see who it was, she already felt the presence of two grown men, stalking her from both sides. Levi was about to ask what was going on, but Yang stopped him with a serious face.
"Get out." she uncharacteristically warned him, confusing the Gold Ranger.
"What?"
"Just… leave." she snarled again, stopping him. "We'll talk later."
"Okay…" Immediately, chilled to the bone, Levi got up from his seat, leaving Yang to remain at her spot. He brushed past the two men who were behind her, wondering if he should do something about it. Unfortunately, he was reminded that she just told him to leave, suggesting that she could deal with the problem. Finally, the Ranger decided to concede and respected Yang's word, hoping she would get herself out of the way.
Done with the conversation, Levi turned back to Sarah, who was standing at the ready, in case anything was about to happen. While she was relieved that her friend wasn't harmed, that didn't stop her from worrying over the other girl as well.
"Come on, Sarah." Levi told her as he grabbed her shoulders and started to lead her out the door.
"What?" exclaimed Sarah. "We just got here."
"And now, we're just leaving." hushed Levi as they rushed towards the exit, leaving Yang to deal with the two men, alone. The Huntress-in-Training sat still, finishing up the drink she so wanted for a long while. Even as two of the men were now pointing their guns at her, Yang remained as calm as a badger waiting for its prey. After gulping down the last bit of her drink, she slammed the cup down with a sudden force of power, and yet, still grinned.
"Seriously, Junior." she made a 'tch' sound before she spoke, focusing her apathy on the owner of the club. "You gonna keep holding a grudge on me?" If things stayed the same, then Junior would do well to avoid another one-sided fight against the blonde basher.
"Let's face it, Blondie. You've been hacking up my joint for too long. Now, I can't trust you to come here for even a single second." complained Junior, tossing a rather angry fit against Yang. "I'm sorry, Blondie, but enough is enough. And I'm going to show you what we'll do to people who mess with us." Unfazed, Yang's lilac eyes scanned the scene around her, looking out for two certain people she did not wish to mess with on that day.
"I see your two twin lackeys aren't home today." she pointed out, smiling with cold glee. Soon, the irises in Junior's eyes shrunk dangerously quick, terror ridden on his face. It made him realize that his threat, no matter how confident he was, ended up as empty as the glass in front of him. That was when Yang made her point by looking at him with a flash of her red eyes.
"Haven't your boys ever learned anything?" she muttered, almost growling. "Never mess with me…"
The two Rangers exited the bar after the warning on such short notice. Levi felt he had to save himself the trouble and leave Yang on her own, leading Sarah out the door and hoped for the best. They waited outside the bar to discuss their next move, should the answers Yang promised would never come.
"So much for that." sighed Levi. "That girl just told me to leave, just as those men came to us. No tellin' if she'll ever tell us anything now."
"They must mean some serious business." said Sarah. "Should we go and help?"
"I don't think so." said Levi, sceptical that any help was necessary. "She seemed pretty tough."
"What's the matter? Scared?" teased Sarah.
"I can see her muscles, Sarah. I'm sure she's a nasty fighter."
"Come on. We're Power Rangers. I'm sure one blonde-haired punk isn't going to…"
CRASH!
The words never came. As soon as Sarah was about to finish, the doors of the bar exploded with a lone man flying out the exit, catching both Rangers by absolute surprise. The man crashed right into a car opposite the building, causing Sarah and Levi to wince, feeling his pain.
"Never mind." hissed Sarah, still reeling from what had happened. As soon as they turned to the door, there they saw; Yang walking out with her shades up and stepping down the steps with suave coolness. She lowered them down so that her eyes could be seen, staring right at Junior, who was spinning in his head, resting weakly at the crashed automobile.
"Like I said, never mess with me." she growled loudly before moving towards her prized Bumblebee, parked at the side of the building.
"Wait!" Levi shouted, getting Yang's attention. The blonde brawler smiled at seeing the guy, also noticing the other girl who was following him. Levi wished to speak to her some more about the weird cases she had encountered, but as the bar was left damaged, she didn't have time to stick around before the authorities knew what she did and report to Beacon of her antics.
"Listen, I'd like to stay and chat more, but I think I've lost my patience." she sighed, regretting the offer to talk to Levi.
"N-no worries." stuttered Levi, still not sure on how to comprehend such strength from the seemingly cheerful girl he had the pleasure of talking to.
"Sorry, I'm Yang." Yang greeted the other girl, shaking her hand.
"Sarah." answered the Pink Ranger.
"If you guys need to find me, just look for me at the Skyway Café. It's much more peaceful there." suggested Yang. Upon giving them the meeting location, she handed them a small slip of paper, revealing a set of numbers that they recognized as a phone number. "Meet me there at two?"
"Sure. Whatever makes you feel good." agreed Levi.
"Catch 'ya later." With the wave of her hand, Yang walked back to her custom-made motorbike and started the engine. While jumpstarting the engine, she took a good look at the two strangers, wondering why the cowboy was so interested in what she saw in the forest back then. Even if it wasn't specifically so, then the insistence on questions definitely gave her an idea that there was some interest in dealing with these unknown creatures.
She did not have the time to do so, unfortunately. But if there was a chance to finally explain what the heck was going on, then Levi, and maybe Sarah, were involved in some way. She had to wrap her head around this for a while, by riding off through the streets. When the time was right, she hoped the teens would meet her at the café, just after she shook off attention from herself.
With the revving of her bike, the girl soon sped off, leaving the Rangers behind to collect everything that had happened. There they stood, in front of a battered bar and near a man, fainted amongst the huge dent of the car. They couldn't believe one girl could be capable of such strength. It was all very… ironic, given their own abilities without their Ranger powers.
"Okay. Now, I'm officially scared." stated Levi. "Let's follow her."
"Why? Does she know something?" asked Sarah.
"She said she had an encounter with a monster in some forest. If that monster is one of Galvanax's minions, then there might be something we can check out."
"Then, shouldn't we wait and meet up with her at the café?" suggested Sarah.
"I can't use this number, Sarah." Levi pointed out, with the number in his hand. How the heck was he going to call her if their phones were completely different? For all he knew, any attempt to dial in was going to end up in failure anyway. "Her phone must be different from ours, if the number's unlike anything I've seen." As such, Levi felt that they needed to close in on her and talk as soon as they could, or else they would risk losing information of Galvanax's whereabouts.
"You have a point." acknowledged Sarah. "So we rev up?"
"We rev up." At once, the Rangers resulted to use their means of transportation, each pulling out a golden Power Star, which had a red centre.
"Mega Morph Cycles! Rev Up!"At their call, the two Rangers threw the stars out. They then began to transform, folding up and twisting around to form miniature motorcycles, which then grew to full size and parked right in front of the Rangers.
Immediately, they hopped onto their cycles and started up, leaving the place in the dust. They then resolved to find Yang and tail her, long enough to meet her at the designated location and finally get things straight.
Any bit of information counted; if it would get them closer to Galvanax, then they hoped it was going to be all worth the effort. And perhaps, if she was able, then maybe she could help them be more than just for information. If she could bash through a room full of thugs, then a competition show of monsters could be a challenge for their mysterious friend, however capable she was…
Yang sighed. Underneath her helmet, hair blistering away in the wind against her bike, she was sweating hard from the burning taste of her drink earlier. She wished she could take off the helmet and feel the power of the draft rush through her face, let the breeze brush against the cool left behind by her sweat.
Within her helmet, she could only hear the muffled rumbling sounds of her bike's engines, unable to determine anything around her without her own eyes looking around. She cruised through the traffic, thankfully still sober enough to follow the rules and avoid any unwanted attention from the cops.
Soon, she stopped by a red light, screeching her bike to a halt. By her sides, two cars braked as well, joining her in the few seconds of waiting before they could finally move again. As she silently waited, her mind was shifted back to an old problem she had not too long ago; the question about Ruby.
At some point, the two sisters had to come back together and talk things out. It wasn't like Ruby to just run off and leave things hanging without any attempts to reconcile. She could either easily come say sorry or be the one to say sorry to; either way, she didn't hold grudges for long, even with Weiss, the one person in the team who knew a thing or two about grudges. So, it begged the question; what was she supposed to say?
Sure, a mysterious monster just appeared out of nowhere, one that even Professor Ozpin himself didn't know about at all. But was it really necessary to venture out and deal with the unknown threat, all when being temporarily suspended from active Huntress duty by Beacon Academy?
One too many times, Ruby had tried to think out of the box a little too much. It's that constant habit that was putting her and the team in more danger than there needed to be, facing threats that were much larger than their current levels could prepare them for. It was about time, Yang admitted, that things should slow down a bit, at least until the Vytal Festival came along. To prove their worth, they had to accept the punishment given to them and await the true challenge ahead.
The Breach was over, Torchwick was behind bars and Vale could repair itself. There couldn't be any more of a reason to find more trouble.
But then, there was something else that was aching inside of her. She didn't feel good about showing her rage in front of her sister, much less doing it because of her. Should things have been more civil and calmer, could there have been a better way to resolve the situation? If she wasn't so pressured by the rules, then she wouldn't explode so needlessly.
It always hurt to hurt Ruby, Yang thought. But things have changed; they were no longer children and the stakes were only going to get higher. Was there really any place for petty excuses and childish ventures?
Her thoughts were shaken when a loud horn frightened her out of it. She turned her head around, suddenly agitated until her eyes flickered red, teeth grinding together in anger. It was only when the driver behind her pointed out to the traffic light that she finally got the message and put the pedal to the metal.
During her drive down the road back to Beacon, she hoped that Ruby would return by then. Maybe then, she could have a talk and sort things out, perhaps convince her that the weird phenomenon was nothing much to be looked at. There were better things to focus on and the team needed to be at their best. She kept on praying that the conversation would go well, leaving her in thought over what to say.
However, her ride home was about to get a whole lot bumpier.
VRROOMM!
"What the-?!" A motorcycle revved right in front of her, catching Yang off guard as she was forced to swerve her bike from side to side. When she recovered, she took a good look at the scumbag who drove past her. The biker rode his dirty ride in front of her, slowing down to similar speeds, cruising dangerously close to her.
The rider then made a move that aggravated Yang. As he closed in, he made very loud cackling noises from his mouth, giving her the idea that he most definitely intended to mess with her.
"HEHEHEHE!" Finally, he then made a wheelie, lifting the front of his bike up and went full throttle before speeding off along the road. The bike stormed right through the traffic, brushing past every car in sight, nearly crashing into them and causing each vehicle to spiral into the sidewalks and threatening to hit pedestrians along the way.
Yang witnessed the speedy chaos ensue before she herself was forced to drive through the swirling mess of things. She sped through the trouble, driving left and right to avoid colliding with any bystanders and moved on. Free from the traffic trouble, the road ahead of her was clear all the way, leaving just her and the speed demon in front of her.
After that nasty stunt, Yang's temper started to worsen, her body burning with the need to retaliate against the crook. Not only did he dare to try and push her off, but to have the decency to keep going to put innocent people in danger, that was already warranting a beating.
Her hands gripped on the handlebars, twisting them up, ready to boost and pursue the speeding maniac before he would hurt more people along the way.
"Alright, punk." she muttered. "You wanna race? I'll give you a race." Finally, she kicked her Bumblebee to overdrive and sped right up, increasing her speed towards her target. She kicked in the acceleration just enough to catch up to the speedster, trying to reach the side of the bike to give him a stern warning. If he tried to disobey her authority as a Huntress, she would be forced to take drastic action to stop him.
Yang managed to speed up to the side of the punk's bike, close enough to grab him by the collar, head still hidden beneath his own helmet, which was dark green, lined by thick scales all around. Two horns stuck out towards the back from both sides of the helmet like a pair of wings, forming a somewhat menacing figure in this rider.
But Yang couldn't care less how badass this guy wanted to look; he was still a threat on the road, all the same. Edging closer to the speedster, she reached her hand out to catch the man, hoping to pull him out of the chase and bring him down to her level.
With one grab onto his helmet, Yang gave it a mighty tug, yanking it off the man's head to reveal his face.
"Gotcha!" The helmet was forced right off and she got a very clear look at the rider's face. A very ugly clear look…
"RARRGH!" The head of the man did not look like anything of a regular human. In fact, he wasn't anywhere near being a Faunus either. A monstrous, pale face that resembled a goblin, with glowing yellow eyes and razor-sharp teeth, roaring viciously at Yang. The frightening face completely Yang the scare of her life, looking at this hideous monster from out of nowhere.
"Huh?! Whoa!" Thrown off her balance, Yang skidded off from her grip and began to dizzily swerve out of control, shock surging all around here. As Bumblebee drove from side to side, the demon rider had fled off, speeding off and leaving behind a bewildered Yang to reel from the horror she had taken.
Eventually, she parked Bumblebee at the side, body still trembling from the shock horror she had suffered from that horrible face. She put the bike's engines to a slow to catch a breath, slowly inhaling and exhaling to catch her composure. The man… The monster's face almost baffled her to the core, leaving her with endless questions.
There were so many thoughts going through her head, banging all around the walls of her brain. The fear she felt looking at that hideous face was eating up inside of her. It wasn't much the same fear she would feel if helpless against a Beast of Grimm, which was lingering and would take longer to recover from. This was more of the instant shock, striking at an instant and leaving her some room to breathe.
Something about the man's face just didn't make sense to her. It didn't feel like a mask, for if it was, she would have pulled it off along with the helmet. The neck was properly fused into his body like it was part of it. It all felt so real, that it left Yang with a shiver down her spine.
Eventually, she overcame the sudden trauma and shook it off, remembering that the road racer was still committing potential harm to the citizens of Vale by riding his bike like a madman. Monster or not, he was going down.
"On the highway to heaven, huh?" Yang quipped, putting back on her helmet before revving up her bike and getting back on the road. "It'll take two to tango on this street, pal." Fire burning inside, she kept her speed up to pursue her foe, to find out what in Oum's name she just saw.
Meanwhile, as Yang rode on, two more riders were hot on her tail.
Following the chaotic mess on the streets left behind, two star-themed motorcycles sped towards the chase, joining in the fray. Sarah and Levi were already chasing their way through the messy street to catch up to the blonde brawler.
Sarah kept her hands on the pedals, keeping her eyes on the bike in front of her. She then noticed the other biker in the scene, Yang suspiciously accelerating dangerously close towards him. It made Sarah wonder if there was a chase going on, judging by how aggressive the distance was being closed.
"There she is!" she shouted out to Levi, who cruised next to her. "And she's chasing that guy!"
"Let's catch up!" Pumping up the power to their bikes, the Rangers throttled forward, pressed to catch up and help their strange acquaintance. The Mega Morph Cycles sped up with all their might, accelerating twice their normal speed and inching closer to the two bikers.
Still in pursuit of the bad boy on the bike, Yang kept her speed to a maximum, unaware that she was being tailed from behind as well. Her eyes were set on catching the punk in front of her. Her hands gripped on the handlebars harder, her body bent as low as she could to withstand the full force of draft acting against her. The longer she kept up the chase, the hotter her body was from the build-up of her impatience, upped further by her desire to catch this speedster.
"Who is this bastard?!" she yelled to let out some steam, keeping her eyes on the prize. She thrusted on, catching up to the biker while preparing herself to spring forward and subdue him, finding out who he was.
The biker saw who was chasing him, seeing the blonde closing in on him. Dismayed, he reached for his pocket and pulled out a hand grenade. He then tossed it behind him, letting the deadly object kink to the road.
"Whoa!" Yang caught the bomb being dropped onto the ground, panicking at the slightest moment to swerve her bike to the side. She slid past the bomb, avoiding collision with it and racing far from it.
While Yang escaped, the two Rangers behind her, however, were about to have their turn with the device.
"Levi! Look out!" warned Sarah. Levi quickly dodged the grenade, swinging his bike around as he clumsily sped towards the sidewalk, narrowly missing a parked car by jumping over it. As he landed, the bomb soon exploded behind him, roaring into a small explosion that would only scare the people nearby. Thankfully, as far they could see, no one was around to be hurt by the bomb.
"Wow! Talk about 'fast and furious'!" shouted Levi.
"I'm gonna try and jump on them!" told Sarah as she sped up with full throttle. "WOOHHOOO!" She shouted out with the utmost excitement, doing a wheelie before thrusting forward to catch up to the two speeders out at front. Left to eat her dust, Levi accelerated along with her, providing her backup.
The chase was now in full force. As they kept racing to catch one another, the bikers all reached the open highway, where the dangers were greater than before. At least Yang had the advantage of having raced through this highway many times before, having the tricks all ready to avoid crashing into passing vehicles.
Unfortunately, as far as the Rangers knew, the highways here in this weird world were a lot more hectic. As they drove into the ongoing traffic, the vehicles came from behind them like rocks being thrown at them. They could still manoeuvre through the cars, thanks to their attuned Ranger powers enhancing their ninja instincts. But there was still so much they could take, as each time they turned and avoid a vehicle, their control was challenged further, adding difficulty driving along.
Meanwhile, Yang was about to close the distance, clearing through a straight gap towards her target. She reached out to try and catch the guy by the scarf, ready to yank him off and drop him off the road, hopefully landing him safely at the side. Even if it was going to be a crash-landing, she hoped to reduce any more damage by this reckless thug, or whatever he was.
There, she could still see that hideous look, with the monster's green skin and pointy head as clear as the lights around her.
The monster turned his head towards her, giving yang the same level of fright she had when she first exposed him, before he turned back to increase his speed. But this time, Yang didn't stop. She kept up the pace and followed the monster through the highway. Her focus was locked on towards the demon racer, following his every move without losing sight.
But being so focused on one perp could spell disaster on the highway. As Yang kept chasing the monster rider, she was about to reach out and pull him off his bike. But then, all of a sudden, he then made a quick turn, spearing to the right. Yang, completely caught off guard, twisted and turned in complete chaos, her bike swinging about out of control.
In an instant, she was forced to slow down and stick to the side, driving right through passing cars in a struggle. Seconds later, she maintained her control, but by the time she got back to regular speed, the crook was already out of her sight. Her head turned left and right, looking around for the rider, frustrated that she lost him.
She kept her bike on the road, cruising on while hoping to catch her target on the way. But no matter where she looked, there was no sign of the mad rider. Her impatience was building as she kept searching, unknown to what was really about to happen.
A flash of light shot behind her, blinking as it was coercing her to look behind. When she turned to look, she could see the bike of the racer behind her, now turning the tables on her!
"I have you now!" The biker shouted from behind. Yang was now in a bad position as the chaser became the chaser. She definitely knew the rider was out for blood, bent on teaching her a lesson. Alarmed, she kept her feet on the pedals on full throttle to speed off and find a way to lose her pursuer. She found herself entrapped at each turn by passing vehicles, all while being chased by this bizarre figure through the highway.
The chase went on for a few more minutes before Yang caught the right turn at the intersection, hightailing it down to the industrial areas of Vale, followed suit by her pursuer and the two Rangers, who braved the traffic to keep up with her.
Turning to the roads below, Yang had driven all the way to a construction site, cruising into the shadowy ground floor underneath the still unfinished building after trying to lose her chaser. She cut off the lights and shut off the engine, finally parking her bike down within the confinements of the building's frame. Worried that she might face him, she then left her bike and took off her helmet, finally letting her sweating head free to feel the air, even if it was not as clean as the rest of the city. It's a good thing she had Ember Celica strapped tightly at her wrists; she needed it back at Junior's, she definitely needed it here.
Finally, the lights shone the road in front of her. From behind the walls, Yang knew that the biker had managed to catch up. To confirm her worst fears, the bike came forward in her view, coming out of the corner to stop right there. Its rider then turned to look at Yang, glaring with that awful face, yellow eyes shooting right at her. His sharp teeth were visible within that frightening grin, as if ready to sink them into her like a ravenous Grimm. He had what looked like bronze claws at the tips of his fingers that were about to do some damage. The only apparel he had was a sleeveless biker jacket with spiked shoulder pads and a pair of torn-up jean shorts, exposing a lot of his scaly legs, much like a real biker.
He clasped his hands together in a menacing manner, creepily cackling at Yang as he now set his sights on her. Sniffing out from her nose, Yang huffed, punching her fists together to activate Ember Celica. The cocking of the weapons clicked, loading up the shells in the chambers. Her energy building up with every centimetre closed between her and the monster. Yet, her mind was dizzy from what she was seeing. The more she looked at this creature, the surer she was that this was no disguise or costume. He felt like a real, genuine monster; one who was all too willing to eviscerate her.
She arched her body forward, fists raised up in defence. The monster moved ever closer to prepare for an attack…
"Ninja Blasters!"
BWUIMM!
"YAARGHH!" The monster was thrown down on the ground when something exploded behind him, planting his face down on the gravel below him. Yang stepped back in recoil, surprised by the sudden attacks on her pursuer. A pillar of smoke rose from the back of the monster, prompting her to look behind to see who shot him down. To her additional surprise, she came face-to-face with two familiar faces.
Pointing their frog-like blasters at the monster, there stood Levi and Sarah. Yang couldn't believe her eyes when she saw them, thinking they wouldn't be so persistent in meeting with her about the questions Levi had. To see them armed with a pair of blasters, however, that was something she definitely had to acknowledge as a real issue.
"Hey!" shouted Levi. "You alright?"
"You!" exclaimed Yang. "Levi and Sarah!" The Rangers were glad she was safe and sound, running towards and leaping over the fallen monster before them. They soon met up with the blonde brawler, who planted her hands to her hips with an impressed smile.
"Wow, when you guys said you wanted to talk, you guys really want things done." she commented.
"What's that guy's deal?" asked Sarah, not knowing where the monster belonged in. Either he was a residential bad boy in this world or he could be one of Galvanax's minions; all the same, he was someone not to be taken lightly, given how persistent the chase was.
"Is he some enemy of yours?" asked Levi.
"No." answered Yang, sourly. "I've never met this guy. Whatever he is…" Levi and Sarah turned around, Yang backing them up, as they took a look at the monster that laid before them. She was certainly not expecting such turnarounds such as this to happen, seeing two strangers she had just met, turning up with weapons of their own. It made her question whether they had anything to do with being Hunstmen, being the only people their age who could be allowed to carry such firearms.
Just when they were about to inspect him, the scaly beast suddenly moved, forcing them back. His arms stretched back, pushing his hands down on the floor to lift himself up and glare back at the runts who shot him down. Growling viciously, his claws trembled with fury, feeling the urge to scratch them up into many bits.
Now in the company of two surprising friends, Yang walked up to face the demon who dared to make her roadkill.
"What are you?" demanded Yang. All she got for an answer, however, was a series of wild cackles, seemingly not intimidated by her threat.
"HAHAHA!"
"Yep." quipped Yang awkwardly. "That's a monster."
"It's bad enough I've got one brat to eliminate. Now, I've got you two petty 'heroes' to deal with!" As the monster yelled, he pointed his finger at the two other teenagers standing by Yang's sides. The way he called them 'heroes' made Yang even more curious about her new friends. Conversely, from the way he addressed them, the Rangers knew where he came from, feeling that familiar stench of evil from a certain bad guy they loved to beat.
"So, I guess he's your enemy?" asked Yang.
"He is now." uttered Sarah.
The monster rider then roared, showing his resolve to finish off his enemies. This pushed all three humans to take action, readying themselves for a fight. Yang was about to tell her friends to stand back, when Sarah shouted out the word to attack, catching the blonde brawler by surprise.
"Let's take 'em!" Sarah and Levi then charged forward, leaving Yang behind.
"Wait! You guys!" she shouted to them, but they were already engaged with the monster, coming to full blows with each other. Though they were armed, she wasn't so sure they were completely capable of fighting a fist battle with this dangerous critter. If they had to fight, they would have waited for her to deal the first hits and cover them as they fired their strange weapons.
But as she spectated from behind, the Rangers were already showing just how capable they were on their own. Yang found herself watching them throwing their fists with such diligence, fighting like a pair of Huntsmen-in-training. Not as agile and hard-hitting as herself and others like her, but they certainly knew how to face opponents like the one before her.
Sarah and Levi kept attacking the monster from both sides, flanking him as they pushed him all the way out to the open streets. Once in the clear, they had much more room to spread out and attack the monster with greater velocity.
Levi flanked the monster from the right, making an uppercut to the target's belly. The monster blocked the attack before swinging around with his leg, only for Levi to duck under and let the strike pass above him. Sarah then followed up while the monster was distracted, giving a powerful kick to the back that sent him stumbling away. The monster rolled down to recover from the fall, turning around to face the two punks who struck him first. He then charged to resume his assault. His claws reached out in a series of slashes that forced Levi and Sarah to separate and dodge, allowing the frenzy to run right through.
When the biker was done, the Rangers stood firm, waiting for him to turn around and face them again. He did so and let out a screeching roar of power to show how much more he could take. They stayed their stances, waiting for the creature to make his move. With another growl, the monster ran towards them, ready to inflict more pain.
Suddenly, he was then thrown off his run by a devastating punch to the face, launching him right towards the wall of a building. A huge cracked hole on the wall was made as the monster fell to the floor, his face crashing to the floor. Levi and Sarah saw who made that knockout punch, seeing the blonde bending forward with a smoking gauntlet wrapped into a fist. Retracting her arm back to her level, she let some steam out while she rotated her arm to massage the tremendous amount of stress used in her punch.
"Save some for me." she joked, graciously joining her new allies, literally by their side in the fight against the monster before her.
Said creature soon rose up, despite the neck-breaking force Yang gave him. Cracking his neck, he then bellowed with unfathomed glee. Something told the others that he rather enjoyed being challenged to fight them.
"You hit hard, Goldilocks!" he chortled. "No one's ever gotten the crack at me like that in a long while."
"We really do have to destroy them every time, don't we?" joked Levi. Sarah figured out what he was about to do next, which meant that she had to follow him in battle.
"That's for the best, Levi."
"Stand with us, Yang." told Levi, standing in front of her with Sarah. "And you're going to love this." The monster continued to glare at the Rangers while they readied themselves to suit up and rumble with their full power. Yang stood behind, puzzled from what they were inferring about.
Taking their positions up front, Sarah and Levi pulled out their Power Stars, revealing the small little devices. In response, at their other hands, their two Morphers warped into their grips, surprising Yang as she laid eyes on those weird devices being teleported right out of nowhere, unlike how she would call upon Ember Celica with the call of her locker from Beacon.
"Power Stars, Lock In!" the two humans shouted out, summoning their power by locking their stars into the Morpher slots before giving them a powerful spin. "NINJA SPIN!" The stars spun with great speed until a blitz of electric jolts and flashing waves flew around them, transforming them into their strongest forms.
Before Yang's stunned eyes, the two had become an unusual pair of strange-looking warriors, like something straight out of a children's show like the ones Ruby used to watch in her younger days. These goofy spandex outfits with over-stylish helmets, complete with a unique set of star-shaped visors, almost made her more amused than awed. As the Rangers flexed to their usual battle poses, she was almost compelled to speak her mind.
"What in the world?" she mused, resisting the urge to giggle. "What the heck is with those outfits?"
"Glad to hear your opinion." uttered Levi with sarcasm. Standing up, he swept the bent horned crest, which looked like the fringe of a cowboy hat, on the right side of his helmet. "But we got a monster to smash."
The monster found their morph to be a challenge, forcing him to even the odds by summoning his backup against the three-man team.
"Kudabots!" With the snap of his finger, he called upon a troop of Kudabots to assist him in battle. In a brilliant flash, the foot soldiers were teleported right in front of the Rangers, adding six obstacles to the pile. Forming a line between the monster and the humans, they pointed their spears towards the enemy. Yang couldn't possibly know what else could surprise her today. Almost nothing she had ever faced before could top what she was facing now, not even the Grimm.
There was no time to start dazing, however. No matter how weird things got, these monsters were still a threat. If they weren't going to stop harassing her and her new friends, then they were clearly not to be let go as some petty criminals. These monsters were definite enemies to the city of Vale.
"Okay, make that some monsters." Levi said with a sheepish voice. Then, on his right, he found Yang coming up to join them, cracking up her knuckles for the fight ahead. Her face sported that signature, adventurous grin that she was always glad to show when a fight was imminent.
"So, am I free to take them all down?" she asked.
"Just take them on, any way you like." encouraged Sarah, readying her Ninja Star Blade. "Go nuts!"
"Oh, there's loads of things I wanna do to them." declared Yang.
"ATTACK!" At the monster's call, the Kudabots all charged to fight the Rangers and Yang. The three heroes were now pressed to fight together and ran forward to meet the troop. Since the Rangers encouraged her to go all out, Yang took the fight to the Kudabots directly, while the Gold and Pink Rangers fought the monster.
The six soldiers started swinging their spears towards the brawler, prompting Yang to face the simultaneous strikes all at once. The alien warriors took their turns attacking her, passing through and trying to stab and slash. The spears were lunged at Yang from all directions, keeping her on her toes while she tried to find an opening. She had a Kudabot swinging its weapon towards her head, the long pike almost skimming through her hair. Narrowly avoiding a nasty haircut, she then ducked down before another would strike her from behind. She gave the spear a kick, but before one more Kudabot could get the hit, she acted on reflex and bent back to avoid the attack.
After dodging the attacks, she finally had a brief moment to pause and find her footing to strike back. When two Kudabots raised their spears and moved to attack, she waited for them to come forward and lunge their blades down. Timing her move, she reached out to catch the spears with her (not-so) bare hands. Her strong hands quickly held onto the sections between the hilts and the blades, stopping the attacks. As they struggled to release themselves, Yang then squeezed her fists in and broke the blades from the spears, delivering a powerful blow to the Kudabots that pushed them back in shock. She picked up the shafts of the spears and swung them with one blow, knocking both of the goons at once.
When three more Kudabots charged, Yang readied her fists, letting Ember Celica do the talking. As her fists went all out, each punch exerted a force that triggered her weapons to fire bursts of kinetic power that knocked the goons back, completing the display with explosive flashes of light that resembled fire. Punch after punch, her weapons made short work of her enemies by sending them flying back to the walls and the road.
Two of the Kudabots she took out earlier rose up afterwards and resumed to attack her, even if they had to do it with their bare hands. Catching them before they could land a hit, yang spun around and grabbed the two into her hands before smashing their heads together and finally putting them down for good.
Once she dusted her hands, Yang felt a weird mixture of thrill and disappointment. While she did have a blast throwing her fists intentionally at these weird creatures, there wasn't really much to enjoy it for. She just felt like they were all taken out just too easily, almost as if she was fighting Junior's boys. Not even a Creeper Grimm was this simple to fight, taking up a good amount of time and effort to wipe out. These guys, she felt, were gone in a few seconds with her brute force alone, not including Ember Celica. She supposed she was left with a lack of good taste in this fight, but then again, it was all in good favour for the two new allies she had just made.
Speaking of whom, Yang then looked to the fight between her chaser and the two Rangers. Levi and Sarah swung their Ninja Star Blades, flying them over and through the monster. The nimble minion flailed his arms back at them like a cat cornered by a pack of dogs, violently swinging his claws to strike the Rangers. The moves were almost rapid fired, forcing them to keep themselves at a tight defence by doing their best to catch his hands before he'd deal a massive blow. Each time he hit their blades, the Rangers could feel the force blown against their limbs; putting it together with how fast he was going, they were completely overwhelmed.
Sarah then went in to make a move. She swung from the right, aiming for the monster's shoulder. The speed demon threw his arm back to meet the blade and rotated hard with a kick. She blocked the leg but was soon met with a roundhouse punch to the chest, tossing her back. Seeing his partner in trouble, Levi chipped in, bringing his star-themed Rockstorm Guitar down from above with a high hit. The blade sliced the back of the monster, spinning him once before he recovered and flailed back at the Gold Ranger. Both times missed when Levi arched his body back and forth to avoid being hit, stepping in reverse to gain some space. Striking back, he brought his blade to meet the monster's claws before closing his face towards the other. A tense stare-down followed, both sides vying for the chance to make the next blow.
"You and your little girlfriends should hit the road while you still can, Ranger!" taunted the monster.
"Sorry, partner." Levi countered. "The only one making it like the hog in this rodeo, is you!"
"Hah!" "Do you really think you can best the boss?!"
"Well, why don't you just quit, so you can go tell Galvanax that we aren't afraid of his ugly face!" Levi managed to free himself from the deadlock and pushed the speedster back with a kick to his shin, knocking him off balance.
After successfully scoring a hit, the Gold Ranger prepared to end the fight before it could escalate further. Sarah and Yang, too, joined him by his side, the Pink Ranger ready to inflict the final blow with him. The blonde Huntress-in-Training watched them arm their weapons, as Levi held his sword like a blaster and Sarah using the frog-shaped Ninja Blaster, aiming at the mad racer.
The monster recoiled with fright, watching the two weapons pointing directly at him, poised to end his life. Overcome with sudden defeat, the monster refused to let a bunch of nosy teenagers end him this way. His rage building up, the goblin-like rider couldn't bear the thought of becoming nothing more than dust. Not this time. He wasn't brought here on Galaxy Warriors to be a complete wash-out.
He was here to win! And if the Power Rangers were going to be in his way, so be it.
Denying his defeat, the monster threw his claw out, charging up a field of energy onto his palm. The Rangers and Yang noticed the charge-up too late to react before the electric orb formed to its fullest. When built up enough, the monster thrusted his arm forward and fired the projectile towards them. Unable to respond on time, the trio were not able to catch the orb before it finally reached the target.
It finally crashed towards the very person it was directed at, blasting right into the Pink Ranger.
With a yell of pain, Sarah fell back from the force of the initial blow, suffering further by massive voltage striking her down like a thousand knives stabbing into her body at once. The power of the blast was so immense that it immediately knocked the Pink Ranger out unconscious.
"Sarah!" Levi dropped to the ground, kneeling to tend to his fallen teammate. Yang watched on in shock, baffled by the power of the monster's attack on the seemingly empowered Sarah. He managed to strike down the Ranger with the ferocity of a Grimm, only with intentional hurt. This wasn't an emotionless beast which feasted on the negative emotions of human beings; he lavished in his stunts. He greatly enjoyed what he did to them, with a wicked grin and a cackling fit. If anything, this demon was a greater monster than any Grimm she'd ever faced. Yang growled, disgusted by the animosity of this ruthless being, fists hardened for more.
"You power brats are lucky!" taunted the monster. He backed away from the group, stepping just once before stopping. With his pointy finger aimed at them, the fiend was, finally pulling out of the action after such a heated battle. He vowed to return and finally deal with them, once and for all, a vow many of his fellow contenders always made. "I'll be kicking around, so you Rangers better beware! For the Mad Wreckster shall be back to wreck your roads!"
With the flick of his wrist and the snap of his fingers, the monster was then zapped up in a cyclone of energy, spinning all around him before vanishing, taking him with it. The sudden disappearance of the monster mystified Yang. Watching him flee without a trace in an instant, it brought back a very vivid memory, remembering the last time she saw something similar happening in front of her.
But the moment was cut short when she saw the unconscious body of Sarah down on the ground, Levi checking in on her. The Pink Ranger soon demorphed back to her human form, reverting back to her usual clothes and fully revealing the fainted face of the girl Yang had just met. The Gold Ranger, also unmorphed, felt her wrist, sensing for a pulse. Luckily, there was a good sign, multiple beats within her veins. Yang joined him to check on Sarah, bending down to find any injuries.
What amazed her was the fact that, despite the powerful blast to her body, Sarah seemed unhurt; her clothes were not torn or burnt by the attack. When she moved the shirt to reveal her stomach, there was not a single mark that suggested a painful wound, with the skin still freshly intact. However, there was no denying that Sarah was indeed hurt on the inside. While there weren't any physical wounds, it was still possible she suffered some form of damage inside her body.
"We have to get her to the hospital." pressed the brawler. Levi looked to Yang. Grateful that she was willing to help them, he was quick to accept her aid and carried Sarah bridal style. He followed her to the parked bike that was left behind them in the alley. Yang hopped on and started the engine, letting a powerful roaring sound that left Levi somewhat awestricken by its futuristic and empowering presence. But the fascination would have to wait.
"Better hop on. There should be a clinic nearby." Levi complied to Yang's wish, carefully hopping onto the back while holding Sarah gently on his lap. The rider in front of him prepared to disembark, accelerating her bike to a slower pace to avoid a bumpy ride. While they left the streets, Levi spoke up to thank the girl for helping him and Sarah.
"Thanks a lot, Yang." he thanked. However, he then saw Yang turning her head slightly towards him, giving him a face of warning. He knew she was skeptical about the whole ordeal, having to fight a monster from another world and doing so alongside two equally peculiar humans was probably the extra flavouring the question cake.
"Save the thanks for later." she assured him. "After that, you need to tell me everything that's going on."
For a short while, Levi hesitated. Much like the rest of the team, he and Sarah had sworn to keep their identities and their mission a secret from everyone, even the trustworthy ones. It was their decision not to get the locals involved in affairs that were beyond their reach.
But after seeing what yang was able to do to a monster from his own dimension, Levi had some second thoughts. If this girl could go one-on-one with a few Kudabots and that monster, then perhaps there was to be an exception to their secrecy. Who knew; if Yang could be trusted to join them, then maybe they could go a long way in defeating Galvanax and the forces that threatened this world.
For now, those thoughts had to be put aside. Sarah was wounded and they had to get her healed. With the safety of his friend at stake, there was no time to be distracted. But with the possibility of powerful allies present, he was sure there was going to be a change in the wind.
Elsewhere, within an isolated coastline, far from the city, a swirl of energy shot up onto the sand, teleporting the Mad Wreckster away from the losing fight against a trio of brats. Landing down on the beach, the injured monster then attempted to contact his leaders, informing them of the foiling of his part of the plan.
The monster pulled out a mobile device, dialling in the code to reach to the Warrior Dome in orbit. The call was answered only a few seconds later. The Mad Wreckster, champion from a dystopian world far in the corners of the known universe, was afraid of bringing the bad news to Madame Odious. Being part of a joint operation with other (rather hated) contestants wasn't really his idea of a joy ride, and the thought being the one to fail was not going to sit well.
"Odious!" he called. "Those pesky Power Rangers have arrived in the city!"
"Which ones?!" Odious yelled from the other end.
"The Pink and Gold ones." explained the Mad Wreckster.
"Curses! Now, they're all there!" Odious cursed again. Her last words spooked the rider, who couldn't stand the thought of having to deal with the entire team of Rangers. Now, Odious had confirmed it all to him.
"What shall I do?!" he urged. "All I wanted was a little joyride of chaos! Is that so much to ask for?!" Growling, a small smirk came to her face, finding the satisfaction of committing pain to one of the Rangers. "At least, I dealt with little Miss Pinky Pop before she had the chance."
"Then, do what you do best." advised Odious. "They are left with one member weakened. Deal with the Gold Ranger, and you will be rewarded!"
"It's going to be tough, boss." added the Wreckster, recounting the unforeseen factor in his defeat. "They've got this blonde human girl with them. She packed quite the punch!"
"Drats! Another Huntress. They are getting far more help than I thought." Again, the monster reeled. Another Huntress? Is that what that blonde bimbo was? And if she was another Huntress, just how many more were there? Just what were these Huntresses anyway? There was no time for questions as Madame Odious soon relayed to him a motive for the Wreckster to continue on and wreak havoc.
"Deal with them, Mad Wreckster." she ordered. "Your reward will be doubled if you destroy all of the enemy."
"HAHAHA!" cackled the monster. "Double the price, double the fun!" And soon, as he ended the call, the Wreckster snapped his fingers. At the sound of the click, a fiery cyclone fired up in front of him. As it dissipated, the monster's bike emerged, having already vanished when he encountered the Rangers and that busty brat. Bringing his leg right over the bike and seating himself at the helm, he revved it up and began to run the wheels down on the ground, kicking up a torrent of beach sand behind him.
Cranking up the grips and putting his foot down on the pedal, the biker rose up into a wheelie and landed down before he finally drove off into the forest at the hills, letting loose a wild laugh to fuel his fire.
Warrior Dome
Back in the Dome starship, Madame Odious had just cut off contact from her hired contestant. A growl escaped her hidden mouth, her riled face covered behind her white mask. The conniving sorceress was getting very fed up with the lack of progress in her plan to cause chaos to the city of Vale, so that her allies could do whatever they had to do to help her achieve her goals. She sent all of those contestants, behind the backs of Galaxy Warriors' officials, to perform an extra special task to prepare for their eventual attack on the people of Remnant. The plan had to be secret, for if Galvanax knew she was concocting another scheme without his knowledge, she would most certainly be done for.
She left the isolated corner of the corridor, where she hid to conceal herself from anyone in the ship, especially the one being she did not want to aggravate.
Unfortunately, she had already done enough to frustrate that very being…
"Odious!" The shrill, threatening voice of the champion himself sent a striking chill down her eerie aura, boiling up her still cold blood. Right behind her, the towering form of Galvanax stomped his way, right towards her. Odious, in her usual spout of fear, turned feverishly towards her master like a cowardly fool, bowing immediately. What made the scene even more humiliating? That no-good suck-up, Ripcon, followed closely behind him, always the one to make a fool out of her. She was sure he was enjoying the moment, even if it was hidden from her by his own warrior mask.
Galvanax beamed his deadly red eyes towards Odious, his face coming dangerously close to her own. The witch could feel the anger almost firing up inside him, plunging her to a terrible state of helplessness.
"You better give me an explanation as to why the Rangers are getting more help! The world's heroes are gathering together with to fight our monsters!" he yelled.
"Forgive me, Galvanax! I was just-!" Odious bowed down even more, hiding her face behind her draping sleeves. She begged with the utmost desperation, as if her life depended on it.
"Enough!" Galvanax interrupted her, rage already at its peak. His patience was already string-thin as he was kept in the dark from whatever his advisor was trying to cook up. There wasn't any surprise, really. Madame Odious was already infamous for her shadowy schemes that even Galvanax himself was already aware of the fact. But he chose to let her do her job; it made his show all the more exciting with her secretive manipulations of his contestants and the crowd. He only had to remind her that whatever plan she had in mind, she had to do it with the greatest of haste.
"I've had enough of your long games, Odious. Action must be taken, and fast! No more delays!" he warned her. "It is time we meet with your new allies, before the Rangers reinforce themselves and we lose our chances of winning this planet's power!"
Odious' skin crawled. Her early attempts of formulating Galaxy Warriors an alliance with the dark forces of this dimension were coming to fruition, but to Galvanax's lessening patience, it was coming too slow for his liking. She didn't want to jump the gun on having the champion meeting with Cinder and her cohorts, for it could risk leaving her organization vulnerable to the already empowered Fall's equal taste of conniving chaos.
Then again, she thought about something. Her tang for mischief and utter downfall of those above her made her realize the one opportunity she had from her master's apparent naivety. If Galvanax was so quick to fall into the hands of such sneaky humans, then wouldn't it be a good thing? If he was so willing to be pulled into Cinder's will, then perhaps she could have an opportunity to usurp him and take her rightful place as ruler of the game show.
After all, Odious was sure that he wouldn't be able to take on the Power Rangers by himself; he was too stuck in his shell of fame and fortune that he let his supposed power wain within his inactivity from the ring, almost to the point that his might was practically nothing but a farce.
By just letting him be a bigger fool of himself in the face of her new maniacal allies, Odious would strike gold. So, for the time being, she had to play it coy and do what she did best...
Pretend...
"Yes, sir." complied Odious, leaving no trace of mischief in her voice. It was enough, however, to pull Galvanax off her trail. Grunting one more time before turning away, the supposed champion stormed off, allowing Madame Odious to finally make an appointment for him to meet her accomplices on the planet. Ripcon followed him, but not before letting out an insulting chuckle to rub the wound straight in Odious' face. While watching the two incompetent fools leave her, her demeanour changed back to her true, wickedly gleeful self.
Soon enough, those two would finally eat their words. If Cinder was powerful enough to resist and challenge her own magic, then even the mighty Galvanax would find it just as fruitless to fight her.
Speaking of which, Madame Odious had to act quickly. Now that Galvanax had pressured her to grant him an audience from Cinder, she had to contact her and formulate the plan forward. So, hiding back in another dark corner in the ship, she conjured up a ball of energy, contacting her human partners down below. The silver orb began to crystalize, forming into a transparent shape. Within that orb, the spitting image of the woman she associated herself with, turning around her bright, fiery yellow eyes to beam right her.
Odious could see the sneaky grin on Cinder's face. Whatever the human was going through that day, it must have been fruitful. Odious could see she was in some small room, with a bed behind her. It looked like a dorm room, so she assumed Cinder was in some sophisticated location. Dressed as a school girl, with a red cardigan and a checker skirt, it also seemed that the human was in a school of some kind. The other two of her minions were nowhere in sight, suggesting that they were out elsewhere, in a mission no less.
"Odious. You're rather distressed." greeted Cinder, noticing how frantic Odious' body language was.
"We have a problem, Cinder." informed the witch.
"Do tell."
"I'm afraid all of my enemies have come into contact with yours. I'm afraid that there isn't much time to lose."
"Then what do you suggest?" Cinder asked. Odious couldn't tell, but it seemed that she wasn't fazed at all, as if the news of the Rangers meeting up the Huntresses wasn't the least bit suspicious. Was the threat of a combined front of enemies not the slightest bit worrisome? Either Fall's confidence proved she was indeed as powerful as Odious feared, or if she was being too cocky. Nevertheless, one thing was certain; Galvanax needed to meet this powerful woman and he had to do it, now.
"How do you feel about meeting with the champion, Galvanax, himself?"
