A/N: This is a birthday present for Celridel! Many happy returns of the day, and God bless!

The last rains of late spring had fallen. Summer came upon Imladris, brilliant in its golden glory, and the air rang with the laughter of elflings and the gentle murmur of lovers' trysts beneath the heavy-laden trees.

Elladan walked alone by the water, gazing into the pool as the light breeze rippled over the water's surface. Flowers sprang up and budded upon the green grass, reflecting in the shimmering waters, and the blue sky above smiled from the depths.

A low voice fell upon his ears, silver like the sweetest bell, and he turned and smiled.

"Eruanna."

His wife's eyes twinkled merrily up at him as she drew near, and he breathed a sigh of gratitude as her hand slipped into his.

"Where is Elrohir?" she asked softly after a while. "I have not seen him yet this morning."

Elladan's smile grew. "I would not imagine that he and Calassë have risen yet, meleth-nín. Do you not remember the first days after our binding?"

A rosy flush grew on her cheeks. "Aye, I do."

He leaned back against the tree and slipped an arm about her, lazily bringing her to his side. "It is just us, then," he murmured meditatively. "Us, the water, and the sky." A mischievous twinkle sparked in his eye. "Do you not wish it would always be so, Eruanna-nín?"

She bowed her head to hide her blushing cheeks. "You know I would not have it any other way, Elladan."

"Then stay with me." His face was suddenly earnest, the laughter flying from his tone. "Promise me we will be together always – on Arda or in Valinor, I care not which. Please?"

She met his eyes, and the smile had fled her face also. "I swear it, my husband. I will not leave you."

A sigh escaped his lips as he relaxed. "Then I care not where the fates lead me. As long as we are together, I will be content."

The winds twisted lazily through their hair as the day meandered onwards and day faded to twilight. The stars gleamed, high in the darkening sky, and the flowers closed, bowing their bright heads to the earth. But Elladan and Eruanna sat together even through the night, together as they had vowed. Outside the borders of Imladris the wars raged on, but for a moment, they could breathe.

Just for a moment, they could let the summer's caress blow over them. Just for a moment, they could be together in body as they were irreversibly linked in soul.

It would have to be enough.
