Her - 7 months later

The first thing she saw when she woke up was darkness.

That kind of darkness where you can't even see your hand in front of your face.

Then she felt a weight on the mattress beside her and had to tell herself not to panic.

And then came the kisses. Sweet little touches from her neck to her shoulder and all the tension instantly left her body.

Instead, she sunk a little deeper into the pillows, smiling sleepily and humming in contentment.

An arm slung around her middle, pulling her into a warm body and she already knew the next kiss would be on her lips so she turned her head in his direction.

Her smile widened further when their lips finally met and she couldn't help an uncharacteristic giggle.

She couldn't remember the last time she felt this happy and relaxed. Like nothing in the world could destroy this moment. And it was true. This beautiful moment of love and happiness would forever be their's.

Finally, she opened her eyes and immediately met his warm gaze. She brought her left hand to his cheek, trailing her thumb over his lips and she knew the exact moment he felt the cold metal on his skin.

His smile dropped and his eyeeyes widened in surprise as if he already knew what the item on her ring finger was. He probably really did.

She had found it in a drawer while searching for batteries to put into the TV remote and for a moment, she had been shell shocked.

She hadn't been able to move or think or even breathe. For a whole minute she had just stared at the small box in the drawer next to the batteries she'd been searching for and some other meaningless stuff.

And then she'd opened the box because, who wouldn't have and once again, she'd been breathless.

"Are you sure?" he whispered still staring into her eyes with so much love and affection she actually had to swallow down some tears.

She didn't say anything, instead she pulled the ring from her finger, gave it to him and closed his hand around it with her own.

He couldn't deny the hurt he felt and she saw it, but she just smiled at him, closing the gap between their faces further until their noses were touching.

"Ask me." she breathed and finally he seemed to understand.

He stood up and walked around the bed to her side.

For a moment he just stood there and stared at her until he pulled her up into a sitting position, turning her so she had to swing her legs over the edge of the bed.

Then he went down on one knee and she couldn't help but chuckle slightly at how sappy this was.

He took her hands in his, still staring into her eyes, half smile on his lips.

"Erin Lindsay, I love you. And I want to keep telling you that until the rest of our lives, however long that may be. Would you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me?"

She smiled, tears in her eyes, because fuck it. She could cry every now and then and finally she nodded , breathing a yes that was barely heard as he kissed her and then they were a bubbling mess of laughter and tears and she loved ever single second of it as he put the ring back on her finger, kissing her again.

And again, and again, and again.

And it was so, so beautiful and them and who the hell cares about normal.

When had they ever been normal?

She didn't care about that as long as it was them.

And in that moment there was nothing but love, happiness and him and her.

YES PEOPLE, HERE I AM!

I know it has been a very long time. And that's probably the understatement of the century.

But here I am with a new chapter.

Actually, it's not just a new chapter, it's the last one. The epilogue. The ending of this story.

Sad, right? I can't believe it myself.

I loved writing this story, even though it didn't always seem like it.

This is my second ever completed story. My first in the English language. I think it was a beautiful journey.

I want to thank you for keeping on reading, even though you had to wait months for an update. I will be forever thankful for that.

Also, thank you for your always encouraging comments, they really helped me.

I hoped you enjoyed this story, my take on how it should have been.

I love all of you!

THANKS
