M'gann had tears in her eyes as she hugged her friends. "I'm glad you're all okay."

As they looked at their friends it dawned on them that they didn't look happy. Superboy looked angry, Aqualad looked upset, and Zattana was frowning. All their mentor's except for Flash were there, the mentors looked serious.

"What is going on?" Robin asked.

"Did something happen to Uncle Berry? Where is he?" Wally asked concerned.

"We have a few thing's to explain." Batman said as they were led into a conference room. They took seats and pensively waited for an explanation.

"You probably have wondered why you were on the other world that story starts a few months ago. On a Justice League mission we required Flash to run at almost Mach five, in the process of running that fast he ran into the future." Batman paused as he looked at the teens their faces where a mix of terror, curiosity and fear of what the answer was. "In the future Flash saw a grave, Wally West's grave. He didn't know why or how you die, but he couldn't live with it so he decided that he would send you to a different earth. He built a portal and was going to send you there when Robin and Artemis walked in. They tried to stop Flash after a fight they went after him."

"What happened to Uncle Berry?" Wally asked in a quiet voice. He didn't like the idea of him dying in the short future or being banished to another earth.

"We didn't know what to do." Green Arrow said, he paused before saying, "We didn't know what we would do if it was one of our partners. When Robin and Artemis went through he worked to try to get them back. In the short fight, after they went through the portal it collapsed. We had to work nonstop to get you back."

"Can I see him?" Wally asked.

"We put him in a holding cell. You can go see him." Martian Manhunter.

Robin talked to Batman and Artemis talked to Black Canary and Green Arrow as Wally walked to where his uncle was.

Flash was pacing around the small cell. He was thinking about the mistakes he made. He wanted Wally to be safe, but he didn't even know how it happened. Speedsters are hard to kill, not immortal. In their line of work heroes didn't die in accidents. He saw Wally out of the corner of his eye. He prayed his nephew understood.

"Hey, Uncle Berry."

"Hey. Kid. You okay?" Berry asked, he stopped pacing and scanned his nephew.

Wally walked in the cell and sat down. "I'm okay. I know you did it because you care. I'm not mad."

Berry smiled a little. "I'm sorry."

"So how do you think I die? I think it would be something heroic, maybe I save a pregnant woman from an evil speedster. Ohh, I could die from a freak boating accident, thing is we all know the risks. If I wanted to live forever I wouldn't be Kid Flash." He looked Berry in the eye as he started speaking again. "I'm freaked out that I could die in a few years, but what life would it be if live on another earth or hide on this one."

Berry pulled him in a hug. "I should have told you. It wasn't right for me to send to another earth you have a life on this one."

The Justice League let Berry out of the cell. He was their friend and he promised if he felt any crazy urges like that again not to act on them. The Flash was a friend and for a terrible plan he had good motives. They worked it out and after hearing what transpired on the Avenger's world where the Heroes that had fought and lived together; fought between each other. They decided to not to make the same mistake.

On all the other missions they went on the teens looked out for each other, but even more so when it came to Wally. Death was always something that could come at any time for anyone of them. They hated when he and Artemis retired, missing their friends they had fought side by side with for years, but they also didn't worry that he would die on a mission anymore.

Wally and Artemis started dating, knowing that something could happen to either of them. Missions had gone well... so far. There was always a chance of dying on a mission. They both decided life wasn't worth living without each other, fear of the future would rob the joy of the present. No one really knows what's in store. When they retired form wearing masks they both were relieved. Maybe they could screw the timestream after all.

Review which version you liked best.

I had the idea of Berry doing this before watching the third season of The Flash.
