Going Down In Flames
"Damn it," Scott swore under his breath as he approached the last known location of his two youngest siblings. "Gordon! Where the hell are you and Alan? I ordered you out ten minutes ago!"
Gordon's loud sigh could be heard across the radio. "Don't get your panties in a bunch. We're coming!"
Alan looked over at his closest older brother incredulously. "Do you have a death wish, Gordo?"
Before the redhead could respond, they heard their oldest brother bark in both annoyance and frustration. "I want you out NOW! John is detecting more seismic activity and there's a confirmed gas leak in this zone."
"We're—" Alan paused as the ground beneath them began to shake.
Gordon grabbed Alan's arm as they rushed through the industrial building, desperately trying to keep their balance.
Seeing the exit within sight, both men nearly sighed in relief. However, luck wasn't as forgiving today. An explosion suddenly erupted behind them, forcing the two youngest Tracys to the ground as debris rained over them.
Scott momentarily froze as the explosion rocked the building before him, he steadied himself as he waited for the aftershock to end. "Alan! Gordon!" he screamed into his earpiece. "Report!"
Gut wrenching silence only met him in response.
Ignoring John and Virgil's worried voices across his com, the field commander rushed into the building. Scott could feel his heart pounding against his chest as he checked his watch for his two youngest brother's last known whereabouts within the building. The device indicated the two should be in the hall before him. "Alan! Gordon! Can you hear me?" he yelled.
A muffled groan filled the hall, as Scott's eyes caught movement to his left. Kneeling next to the figure, the brunette could make out the markings of his baby brother's suit. "Allie? Can you hear me?"
Alan groaned as he became aware of someone pulling things off of his body. Opening his eyes, Alan met the concerned gaze of his eldest brother. "Scott?"
"Hey, kiddo. You okay?"
Alan inwardly winced as he took in the area around him. "Yea, I think so. Just a little banged up. I'll definitely be feeling this later. Where's Gordon?"
"Here," they heard a voice grumble not far from them.
Scott began pulling debris off of his redheaded brother as Alan gingerly made his way over to them. "You alright, Gordo?"
"Just peachy," Gordon replied, removing his helmet and rubbing his head.
"Looks like you'll need a new one," Scott frowned as he noticed the dent and small crack in the helmet. "You sure you're okay?"
Gordon nodded but winced at the pain the action caused. "Might've taken a knock to the head, but I'm good."
"We better get out of here before another aftershock hits," Alan urged as he took in the destroyed area. Alan inwardly chuckled to himself as a thought crossed his mind at the small flames surrounding the end of the hall. "Ya know, Gords. You almost got your wish today."
Gordon furrowed his brow in confusion, as Scott helped him stand. His older brother steadied him as he wobbled for a moment. "How so, Al?"
"You always said going down in flames sounded like a good time," Alan smiled, rubbing his sore shoulder. "Of course, you were three sheets to the wind when you said that."
Gordon chuckled. "Not today, Sprout. Not today."
Not my usual way of writing but definitely allowed me to think outside the box. Was fun to write and I hope you enjoyed!
Later!
