Quick Author Note:
Sorry I haven't updated the Reading in a while. Was just at a tricky spot, then that whole thing with that ass plagiarist on wattpad happened, stuff like that.
And now some ass using guest reviews keeps harassing my stories.
Long story short, muse took a beating. But I haven't given up.
Wanted this to be longer, but screw it, you guys've been waiting enough. Hope you enjoy!
Setting the book down, the group was surprised when Naruto jumped up and started pacing.
"Naruto...relax." Kakashi said.
"Excuse me if I can't! After all, the Tailed Beasts being learned of by those who want to carry out an agenda that could level Vale, if not all Remnant?! Forgive my tensions! For how powerful they are, Kurama especially, they're basically sentient nukes. And they're pretty much immortal, whenever they're drained of energy to the point they'd otherwise die, they can turn into disembodied energy until they regain enough energy to reconstitute their physical bodies. So tell me: how and why should I relax about that?"
Those from Remnant all stared, shocked and paling. Ok...perfectly understandable reason to panic! Those beasts were that powerful, and those who were clearly up to no good knowing about them?! They could see why Naruto was so freaked!
"...And that...um...what was it? Jun...Jink-" Ruby asked. "What was that about? It sounded like a way to stop them, at least. That's a good thing, right?"
At that, she yelped as most of the ninjas glared murderously at her, but Naruto stepped in front of her and gave them a look. "Back off...she doesn't know."
After the hostility lowered to non-existence, Naruto turned to the people from Remnant.
"Jinchūriki." Naruto sighed, "Look guys...that is a way of at least containing the Tailed Beasts, seeing as what can't be killed can be imprisoned. But the thing is, with what I just told you guys about how powerful they are, can you really see an inanimate object realistically being a safe option for where Kurama and the others like him would be kept?"
At that, Pyrrha, Weiss, and Blake all covered their mouths, eyes huge; while Ren looked grim, and Summer's eyes hardened. By contrast, the others from Beacon Academy all looked confused. Meanwhile, everyone else on the ninja's side except Naruto looked ashamed.
"No way...they didn't!" The Faunus gasped, horrified.
Naruto nodded grimly, "Did..."
Yang frowned, "Ok...what's going on? I get Kurama and the ones like him are bad news if the wrong people find out, but what are you talking about?"
"The book will explain later. Going to have to...wish otherwise, though." Tenten said.
Naruto whipped his head and stared at her.
"Good with details, and know how fūinjutsu works. You really think I wouldn't?" Ruby's weapons buddy asked, brow raised at the unvoiced question.
Naruto stared. Ok...that would seriously take time to digest. Then again...Konoha had never been exactly subtle with how and why he was hated...calling him things like "Fox Child" and all...
Then with a sigh, Minato stood up and grasped his child by the shoulder, "I know why you're worried, son; and rightfully so, but we can't do much of anything in this situation. Our best option is to plan ahead, and the best way to do that right now is to continue reading. It may even be possible that your alternate figures out a solution we can use."
At that, everyone stared at the former Hokage.
"I see...the book's already giving us insight on things, it might expose their plans to us and allow us to think of how to deal with them now rather than when the events actually happen, prepare ourselves in advance." Weiss nodded.
At that, everyone nodded. Made sense.
"...Thanks, dad." Naruto sighed, relieved. And maybe that was why the Old Sage had brought them all together? Naruto wouldn't put it past him. Something Kurama agreed with within him.
"...I can see why they would have put a guy like this in charge back in that Konoha place." Yang muttered, getting nods of agreement from everyone else on RWBY and JNPR.
Kakashi and Kushina grinned.
For her part, Mikoto sighed wishing Fugaku had possessed that level of awareness...would have saved her family a LOT of grief...
"Well...with that out of the way, whose hungry?" Kushina asked, standing up. At that, Summer and Mikoto stood and rolled up their sleeves as well. The three women shared a glance and smirked at one another.
Going into the kitchen area of the space, the trio of mothers began to make use of some of the supplies for eatables that Mikoto had procured, and in a matter of a half hour, had prepared a meal as everyone got plates and started serving themselves.
The space, for a while, was full of the clatter of forks and knives intermingling with pleasent small talk and the occasional request for more food.
"Ahhh man...that was delicious!" Naruto half-sighed, half-belched.
"You ate enough to feed about thirty-seven Goliaths, Naruto." Jaune pointed out.
"So? The most out of a person's appetite...A mother's home cooking always brings that out." Yang smiled.
"Add that onto how we have three moms here that made the stuff. Hard not to pig out like that. Be wrong if you didn't, actually. Criminal even." Ruby nodded. It was nice, this was the first time she'd been able to sit down and have a meal with her mother. Added onto that, her sister was with her, as were friends new and old. She felt utterly content. Yes...feeling this sense of safety and happiness, with no worry as to things such as Grimm, time where she could just be with those who mattered to her. She wanted to share this feeling, make it so everyone could feel this way...it made sense to her. If she could make it so everyone felt this kind of security, then this was why she had always wanted to become a Huntress.
"Straight up, damn right, and amen to that one, sisters!" Naruto chuckled. Grinning at one another, Naruto and Taiyang's two daughters shared a high five in agreement. Meanwhile, Kushina, Mikoto, and Summer all laughed, fully pleased.
"...Is it just me, or do these three click so well that him calling Ruby and Yang sisters felt natural enough to believe they're actually blood related?" Jaune asked.
Everyone else nodded.
"So what's being a Huntsmen and Huntress like back where you guys are from? Book's got a couple differences in it, after all." Naruto asked.
"Pretty much the same as in the book." Ren admitted.
"Yeah. But we could really you you and your badass ninja-tude, Foxy!" Yang chortled, "guy as good as you would really tip the scales."
"Flattering, but my story version has a bit more of a skillset than I do. Still working on it. First rule of a life of battles is never stop learning, since there's always room to improve. Seen enough to know that's fact." Naruto shrugged. "Besides...I'm...good at drawing or dragging trouble along with me."
"So?! That second part's our normal." Nora laughed.
"Heh. That case, Naruto would fit right in!" Kakashi said, smiling under his mask.
Naruto glared at his sensei as everyone else laughed at the whiskered teen's expense.
"So what's this ninja stuff like?" Jaune asked.
"Ha! My experiences make Grimm and criminals look like shooting fish in a barrel...using a rocket launcher for the fishing. So you sure you want me being who answers that one, guys?" Naruto laughed.
"...Scary thing is, I can actually believe that." Yang snickered.
"So...who reads next when we get back to the book?"
"I'll do next chapter." Ren nodded as they stood up and put the dishes away before resuming their seats in the main area of the space. Grabbing the book, the pink-streaked young man smiled as he found the needed page.
