Thank y'all for reading! I'm going to try my best to keep writing but I am working once more so it may take some time to finish chapters. Thank you once again.
A gut wrenching sentiment that ate up her soul, festered up the more she waited outside of the room. This hallway acted as a type of hell, that only got worse as time went on. All she wanted to do was rip the door out of the frame and run in there to see her beloved captain. But Hanji made her promise to stay outside until she could ease her entrance. The poor woman, had already put a lot on the line by just allowing Mikasa to accompany her. The last thing they needed was for Erwin to find out everything the wrong way. I mean after all they hid a lot from him for over 4 years. Plus there was no logical way of explaining why Mikasa was even there in the first place. However Hanji knew the best ways to push the commander's buttons in order to get what she wanted, but surely he would be hurt to know that all of this was hidden from him.
Mikasa would face all types of discipline she was sure, I mean after all the relationship with Levi itself was against the rules of the scouts. Mikasa was willing to accept whatever Erwin wanted, so long as she was able to see Levi again. The anxiety continued its path of destruction through her mind. She went through several scripts but all were useless. No words seemed to embody what went through her mind. The happiness to finding him once more, to the regret of not waiting for him. Its not like this was a scenario was ever a possibility outside of her dreams, and yet here they are. Levi is alive, and life still manage to screw things up so that they could not be together. The guilt seemed to consume her, she needed to think of anything else.
A door opened slightly revealing an argument that was occurring between Erwin, Hanji and Levi. Mikasa heard that same low voice that seemed like music to her ears, it had been so long since her ears had the pleasure of hearing it. However from sound he was angry but determined, "I am not going to wait, I have waited years" Levi's body emerged from the other side. Her face looked up to find those dark blue orbs staring back at her, his anger dissipated instantly. He was shirtless with a pair of black slacks. Only a towel draped over his shoulders, he was skinnier than before he had disappeared, but his muscle tone still remained. Still he had a few purple and red bruises down his abdomen, a few cuts and scratches down his face and chest. Even then the attraction she felt towards him was tangible. She rose to her feet, praying that he was not a dream that would disappear as soon she woke. Her body seemed glued to the hallway wall. She was scared that any sudden movement would undo whatever miracle had occurred.
Levi however was not scared he needed to close the distance between them, his arms pulled her body close and tight. "Mikasa, I cant believe you are real." His face was buried in her neck, and she felt some tears drip down her shoulders. She must've been in shock for a few moments, before his scent brought her back to life. It was the same as before, smokey and earthy. His hair was wet, but she could not help but pull him closer.
"Levi," it must have been the shock of actually getting his body into her hands that sent her into a new state of happiness but the words she had thought she would say she couldn't remember how to even annunciate. "Oh baby, thank you for finally coming back to me" her face becoming swarmed with tears. Tears of pure joy, he was back.
He pulled away to look at her face, His beautiful cheekbones had a few scratches, and his lips were slightly chapped, probably due to dehydration. Regardless, Levi was the most perfect man she had ever laid eyes on. His blue eyes made contact with hers, examining her as if he was also trying to come to grips with reality as well. "God, Mikasa I promise I will never leave you. Not while I am still breathing do I want to be apart from you." Without a moments hesitation those cracked lips placed a long kiss that made her want to give him everything. It was hard to believe that she was not dreaming, and she kept praying that this would never end. She sunk deeper in to the kiss holding him close and near.
He reached down to her hand and she knew reality came crashing down its heavy foot on the brief moments of glee they had just been given. His lips stopped moving and his face pulled back. He lifted her small hand for him to see what was placed on her finger, the diamond ring. Before he could speak, a voice interrupted their embrace.
"Ahem," Erwin and Hanji looked at both of them. Erwin shocked beyond words.

"You have to tell him," Mikasa repeated to herself. Trying to find the best assortment of words to convey all the events of the last four years. Captain Levi had been taken back into the infirmary to be further examined thanks to Hanji's intervention, Mikasa had been escorted to another room in a way she was thankful that Hanji had interrupted so that Levi was allowed sometime to calm down. She knew it would be inevitable now that he had seen the ring. Even if Levi did not know yet, that Eren had been the one who placed it there it was not the ring he had given her. The pain of seeing him put the pieces in his head together was awful. Regardless of all she had to accept the position that she was now in. She was pacing up and down the room since she had been escorted there. At this time she would rather face a hundred titans, than to hurt him again.
As much as Mikasa wanted to be able to bring up the news, she had secretly hoped that Hanji and Erwin might have told him in the time they had been in the room. It may have eased him into it, but his eyes revealed how much he was not aware of it. Or maybe the best thing was for it to come from her. She felt stupid, how could she have not taken it off, she didn't expect for it to happen the way it did but it did. She just wished that they could have lived in that bliss for a while longer. Even when Commander Pixis asked about it she should have taken it as a hint. But she knew that taking it off would never actually solve the issue. Eren was still waiting back at camp, with the hopes and dreams of a life together. This would not be the last of hard conversation that would need to occur.
KNOCK KNOCK
"Come in" she said startled awake from her thoughts.
"Captain Ackerman," Erwin's frame emerged from the door.
"Commander Erwin," Mikasa gave him a solute. Puzzled as to why he was in here.
"I am not normally one to intercept in the lives of my soldiers." His eyes looked at her, with an expression she could not point a finger at, "I understand that there was a relationship between you and Captain Levi. One that I was not made aware of, but does explain a lot of things."
"I am prepared to face whatever repercussions that I may need too, as well as the faults of Levi." She continued, "Hanji was just trying to help and-"
"I am not here to reprimand you Mikasa if anything you have suffered enough," Erwin's eyebrows furrowed. "I am here as a friend to our Captain."
"I don't follow Commander."
"As you know Captain Levi has been out in the wild essentially for the better part of 4 years. In health he appears to be in good shape but his entire reasoning for coming back was to come back to you. I'm afraid that he might have a breakdown soon."
"If I had known that he was still out there…" Mikasa voice trembled with the futile attempt to wish time could be turned back.
"Mikasa, I would have been the first to lead a raid to get him back. Not just because of his strength and his value to the Scouts, but because he is the closest friend I have. We are practically brothers at this point. Unfortunately he did not come back with fate on his side." he paused for a second glancing down at her hand, before continuing "I understand that you and Mr. Yeager have are engaged." The commander paused for a moment. Mikasa nodded, "I will not interfere with your decision, as it would be inappropriate for me to do so but I just want for you to consider what Levi has done to get back to you. I understand as soldiers our promises are bound by honor, I assure this scenario was not one I ever saw coming. I will not begin to imagine the confusion you feel, nor the confusion he feels. For a lot has changed in the years he has been gone. As for discipline, I do not intend to give you any. Even if we go back to camp, you and Captain Levi would be in the same rank. No one could interfere, with punishments. Hanji wanted me to assure you that whatever happens you count on both our support."
"Unfortunately it is not honor that I fear Commander," Mikasa timidly spoke up, she did not wish to have this type of conversation with him however it could lead to some insight of Levi state of mind. "It is that of hurting two men that mean the world to me"
"I have never married Mikasa, for I knew of the life that entailed being in the scouts. When I was a cadet, I did fall in love with a girl." He shut his eyes for a moment, the pain was still evident. "She wanted me to live a life with her in the inner walls, dreamed of having a safe and protected lifestyle. Where we would be able to raise children and have decorated jobs in the Military Police. I almost did it, but when the moment came to choose I could not turn my back on my dream. I had to see it through."
"Do you regret it?" Mikasa felt as though she was pushing the knife in deeper, but she needed to know if he was satisfied with the decision.
"Some Days more than others, if I am being honest." He confessed, he saluted her and left the room.
