( for the day four prompt of starco week 3 )

5th time this week Star had to visit him here. But none of that seem to matter to her. She only cared for his safety, especially in dark times like this. With the war between the monsters and the Mewmans still brewing on, she can only hope recovery would be quick and smoothly.

As usual, she greeted everyone she'd meet when she walked around the Mewman hospital, and even granted a few spells to bring smiles upon the patients. Even though she feared the worst, their joy gave her a peace of mind.

Minutes after walking around, she finally got to the patient's room. The patient lies on the bed covered with flowers, as he watches the Mewman news.

"Hey, Marco," she said, walking up to him.

"Oh, hey, Star," he replied, slowly turning to her. "What is it, the 5th time this week?"

"Heh, I can't help it. I'm just that worried about you."

"Ah, it's all good, Star."

"I got you something different this time, though. It's a star-shaped pillow!"

"Awww, how sweet. Thanks, Star."

Marco laid the pillow on the back.

"Yeah, no problem. Thought you could use some comfort instead of flowers."

"Well, I appreciate that."

The two of them were silent for a bit as they watched a bit of the news. As usual, the talk of the war went non-stop.

"We haven't won the war yet, have we?" Marco asked.

"No... no we haven't," Star answered with a sigh. "Toffee's just really good at hiding, and even when we do find him, he always seems to beat us. He's just that powerful."

"Yeah," he said, grunting from the wound in his stomach. "I'm sure we've figured that out already."

"Are you sure you're gonna be alright, Marco?"

"Yes, I'll be fine. I'm sure we handled much worse… than this…"

Star can see the pain from his eyes. Even in the short amount of time he's been in the hospital, the wound has yet to heal.

"No, we haven't, Marco. You're in pain."

"Like I said, Star, I'll be fine. Those medicines the doctors gave me will work. I'll just feel a bit tingly."

"Just let me heal you up again. I'm bound to fix you. You have to trust me."

"No, Star. You promise to let me heal on my own. Trust these doctors."

"But you know how crazy Mewni is! I promise I can heal- "

"That's enough."

A long pause was activated between the two of them, causing Star and Marco to look at each other dead in the eye. A few tears ran down her face, as she rubbed her arm for a bit.

"I just," Star said. "I'm really sorry… I just can't stand seeing you in here… Doing nothing…"

"Don't apologize," Marco answered, reaching and grabbing her hand. "Just promise me you'll be alright with me here."

"I promise, Marco. It's just… I felt like I needed to return the favor after you saving me during battle."

"Oh, it's nothing really. Big whoop."

"It is a big whoop. Who knows what could've happen to me. Probably would've got it much worse."

"Don't say that. What matters now is rest."

"Ok, then."

She rubbed the tears off her face and kissed Marco's hand. Afterwards, she grabbed the TV remote.

"Let's watch something different, ok?" Star asked.

"Good luck finding anything good," Marco pleaded.
