If he had wanted to be romantic, he would've spewed some bullshit line lifted from the copy of Romeo and Juliet that was currently collecting dust in the recesses of his closet, but let's face it: Natsume doesn't do romance.

Oh, he had tried. On Valentine's Day, he threw a box of chocolate at the back of her head (The contents exploded on the floor. Stupid ribbon wasn't secure enough.) and sent her a bouquet of ninety-nine roses (How was he supposed to know she was allergic?), but it all ended in failure. Not even the most obvious hints in the world seemed to do anything for him other than leave him with a crying, whining idiot to deal with in the aftermath.

Nothing seems to get through that thick skull of hers. It looks like he'll have to spell it out for her.

"Oi! Polka Dots!"

Her head swivels around at the sound of his voice. "What–oomph!"

The offending object hits her smack dab in the center of her forehead before it clatters to the floor.

Her hands fly to her forehead where a noticeable red bump swells up like an emergency light. "What was that for?!"

Natsume rolls his eyes and stalks toward her. When he is only an arm's length away, he scoops up the object and thrusts it in her face.

Her eyes cross, trying to focus on the object that's directly in front of her nose. Then, as if a light went off in her head, her mouth drops open and her brows shoot up and disappear behind her bangs.

It's a small velvet box that fits snugly in the palm of his hand.

Natsume scowls at his long-time girlfriend. "Just be mine already, you dummy."

Tears fill her eyes.

"I've been giving you hints all day."

"Natsume..."

"So?" He frowns when all she does is curl into herself, shoulders shaking and hands trembling against her chest. "What's your answer?"

Mikan launches herself into his arms and clings to him with all the force her tiny body can muster. "Yes!" She laughs, and when she raises her head, he is blinded by a smile unlike any other. "Yes, yes, yes!"

Then she tilts her head and he leans down to meet her lips in a kiss.

A/N: Just a cute little oneshot on how I think the proposal would go.
