Go After Her

Hala looked at his Grandson as he stared off towards the direction of the ocean with a deep longing in his eyes. Like something important was waiting for him across the waves and was beckoning him to come find it. For Hau to sit down completely still while in deep thought was already a troubling sign but to see him have such a wistful look on his face made him a hundred times more concerned for him.

"What's the matter my boy? Why're you so down in the dumps? You haven't said a word since you came back from the docks." Hala finally asked as he sat down beside Hau, placing a hand around his shoulder and giving a friendly squeeze.

Hau looked away from the ocean to look at his gramps with wet eyes. "Lillie left for Kanto and I didn't get the chance to tell her how I truly feel about her."

"Is that right? Well, we all must make our own journey alone from time to time and Lillie must've felt like it was her time to spread her wings and explore. Alola will always be her home and she will always remember the fond memories she made with you." Hala comforted Hau, giving his Grandson a loving rustle on the top of his head. "What're your true feelings for this girl?"

Hau's face blushed a deep red as he struggled to find the right words about Lillie. "I-I really like her Gramps...I haven't felt like this about anyone before and it hurts knowing she's so far away from me right now. In a completely different part of the world, on a brand new journey, it makes me feel scared that I won't see her again."

"If you're so concerned about her, you should follow her to Kanto." Hala answered, catching Hau by surprise with his suggestion. "Love will make you worry about someone to no end until you know they're alright and if you love her so much you should follow her so you can support her."

Hau continued to blush but he nodded his head, "I understand what you're saying Gramps but what about the trial? Should I just abandon the trial and leave to Kanto right away?"

"Does she mean that much to you? The trials will always be here and a part of our culture. True love happens once in a lifetime and you should grab it while you can before it's gone." Hala replied, a smile spreading across his face. "After all, maybe she'll become your wife later in life when you're ready for marriage!"

Now Hau was blushing as red as a tomato as he laughed and hit Hala on the shoulder playfully in embarrassment. "Oh knock it off Gramps. I haven't even confessed yet!"

"When will you leave to Kanto?" Hala asked, rubbing the top of Hau's head gently.

Hau looked up at him with determined eyes. "As soon as possible."

"She means that much?"

"Yes."

Hala laughed and slapped Hau on the back with glee. "Good! Love makes you do crazy things and you have my blessing to go after her! I wish you luck."

"Thanks Gramps. Say, why don't we get something to eat. I'm starving!" Hau suggested, pointing to the house and rubbing his stomach.

So they went back to the house to eat some dinner and over the course of the meal Hau explained his plans to confess to Lillie in person in Kanto.
