Gate: Thus Britannia Liberated There!

Chapter 12: Mobile Task Force

"Normal Speech"

[Falmart speech]-Which I forgot to stick to last chapter...Bad oversight, my bad.

Disclaimer: I own nothing.

A/N: I swear after being in other fandom for too long, I started to use the other fandom terms. Like Mobile Task Force aka MTF, Nunnally SCP(D) organization, and almost writing faker instead of fraud. Luckily, I try to keep the reference in-universe and unforced as possible. Li Ren is a reference to RWBY but could very well be just a name. So don't expect he has a wife name Nora.

Granted, Gate also has that FSN reference during the palace raid and Code Geass plastered Pizza Hut every other episode.

Tuka, ignoring her nude state, tries to push herself out of the humvee.

"Wait!",Kobayashi notices the commotion and grabs the elf.

[Let me go!], She screamed before being tackled and pulled her back into the humvee.

[Clothes...on], Kobayashi signaled and pulled out a pack of spare clothes. She tosses it at the elf,[Clothes first!]

The humvee came to a stop as the kids jumped out to give the elf some privacy.

A few minutes later, Tuka ran out of the back toward the corpse of the Flame Dragon.

The soldiers near the flame dragon relaxed as they saw the young elf.

"Let her pass," One of the soldiers requested.

Tuka stared at the body.

This monster capable of burning an entire village to the ground and slaughtering everyone she knows.

The wings on it's back are capable of creating winds strong enough to tear covers off of windows.

It has teeth capable of tearing plate armor.

Scales that are more impenetrable than the strongest steel.

A walking mass of muscle and bones capable of ramming a castle wall and reducing it to dust.

Nothing could defeat the monster as it does as it pleases every century like a greedy prince beckoning for his morning sex slave.

The monster is beheaded like a criminal on the executioner block. She can see the beheading was as clean as a sharpened knife through bread. She can see the parts that make up the veins, muscles, fat, and the marrow on its neck bone.

She looks to the still head of the monster and saw in its eyes.

Confusion and angry.

The Knight in shining armor has won.

Tuka vision blurred. She brought a hand up to touch her eyes.

'Tears?'

It has died. It can't be, could it? The high elf reasoned she is still asleep. But this is real enough.

Tuka broke down knowing her people have been avenged. She got on her knees as tears of joy streamed down her cheeks. The green iron giant has done it.

Itami held his head down as he bid farewell to the people he failed to save, again.

For the veteran of several wars, from the fall of Japan, insurrection against Britannia, the civil war in China, defeat at Mt. Fuji, and much smaller conflicts until today, war is all he knows.

He fought for many reasons that evolve with each conflict.

He fought to defend his home.

He found for nationalism.

He fought for the survival of his men and later himself.

He fought to exact vengeance.

He fought to free his home.

He fought because he has no choice.

He fought because he believed in an ideal world.

He found hoping that there will be an end in sight.

Now he's fighting because he got nothing better to do.

How can anyone return to a normal civilian life after all that?

"Hey," The private and master chef, Kurata, put his hand on Itami shoulder," We only lost a handful of people and no one on RCT3."

"Lieutenant Itami, "A Japanese soldier requested, "I have been given specific order for you to hurry back to base. My men will take over escort duties."

The reinforcement is a platoon of JSDFAC with a dozen knightmares.

"Huh? I guess I'm in trouble," He saluted, and walked to his knightmare. Even if it's unlikely until he submits a report of what happened, he felt a pang of guilt.

"Why am I here?",He found it odd that instead of a waiting room in Japan side of the base, he was escorted by the Glinda Knights to an armored truck.

"He would like to see you now, "A young knight walked out of a small doorway at the side of the truck.

Itami eyes widened recognizing the uniform. The Knight of Four, Oldrin Zevon.

'Could it be? No way! Zero-I means Emperor Lelouch is busy back in Britannia,' Itami tries to convince himself.

The soldier walks into the truck and is greeted by Lelouch in civilian clothes.

"Itami, We need to talk about the recent recon."

"Is it about-"

"No, The fact that you got lazy on the job isn't the main focus. Despite all the advancement in knightmare technology, adding too many new weapons and gears is draining on the battery. Of course, unless you have the pandora core, which is like walking with a live FLEIJA Warhead, You will find your knightmare unfunctional in no time," Lelouch explained," In other words, Your radar was reduced automatically to conserve energy and the engineer failed to mention it. It wasn't your fault."

Itami sighed in relief, but, he recollects the energy level being over half full when he parked Hiretsuna in its hanger.

The only possible explanation is-

"A cover-up?"

"Perceptive of you, but don't call it a cover-up, call it a debt of gratitude for all your years of loyal service."

"I see."

"Now, let me get to the point of the matter. I want to create a hero the New World can look up to and the showmanship of how you defeated the Flame Dragon, a creature heralded as an unstoppable calamity, is killed by none other than the Hero of Ginza. The last member of the old Zero personal guards, a man of intense loyalty and kindness, and overall, a good soldier," Lelouch listed out," Ignoring the obsession towards the Otaku lifestyle. You're a model Japanese that gotten over old prejudice. I'm in need of more Japanese like you."

"B-but-"

"That is all that I ask of you. I'm not giving you orders but a simple request," Lelouch explained, "I'm asking you to be yourself and keep a moral high ground. I want to create a hero without a mask."

"A hero? Something like a comic book character or a shounen protagonist? A hero like Zero?"

"The perks of accepting are autonomy to deal with a situation as you deem fit and bring anything you need to accomplish that goal."

"Your majesty," Itami gulped," Isn't this a bit shady?"

"It's for a greater purpose Lieutenant. I trust you are able to make the right choices. We work together for a few years. You'll understand."

"Yes, I'll do it, your majesty."

"Good Lieutenant," Lelouch nodded, "My next question is from my wife. It's her request, not mine."

"I'm not going to join the Round, your majesty," Itami answered without hesitation, "I'm not interested in a huge jump in rank; in another country no less."

"I understand," The Emperor breathed out in relief," I believe the JSDFAC high command is requesting your attendance. Now, Listen closely, On the report I want you to list equipment failure as the main cause of casualties. There will be an investigation but everything has already been taken care of. You are dismissed."

Itami knows Lelouch has no real authority over him. He isn't the Prime Minister of Japan nor his Commanding Officer. He's no longer a Black Knight either. Yet, the Japanese soldier found himself saluting the Emperor of Britannia.

Itami walked away from the truck a thought crosses his mind.

"Wait? How did he know I wasn't doing my duty?",Itami realized," And that's the most he ever talked to me."

He heard honking to the left of him.

"Lieutenant Itami," A Black Knight soldier yelled from the driver seat of a black humvee," Hop in, I'm here to take you back to base."

The drive is filled with silence until the familiar 3 stories HQ is within range.

Itami hopped out of the jeep and thanked the driver.

"Hey! There you are!",Kobayashi pointed.

"It's better not to question why the Britannian needed you, but command needed to speak with you", Akira Tomita, Sergeant First Class, spoke.

"Why did you think we would turn refugees away?" the man at the desk questioned the lieutenant.

"I mean, I figure the current mood is hostile to harboring people of a country that attack Japan sir," He answered honestly.

"I can't fault you for that logic, but any form of discrimination is looked down upon by the higher ups. I know you handled taking care of refugees back during the 2nd Black Rebellion. Even if they try to kill you moments ago. First Lieutenant Itami, you are tasked with care-taking and observation of those refugees and any future refugees", The man hissed with a slight hint of disgust.

"Eh, Figure I'm in trouble."

"And I can't find any other soldier's who more tolerant of Britannian and by extension the Falmartian then your team."

"Wait? Britannian?"

"The Britannian, Chinese, and Black Knight forces are requesting a joint effort to help the refugees that they also invited to Alnus. Apparently, there are other Recon teams that thought it would be a swell idea to bring refugees also! You are free to leave."

Itami sighed and left the office wondering how much rations and tents he needed from the refugees.

'Other Recon Team bringing refugees? I get the Black Knights since they have near cult-like worship of Zero every word, China has no reason to treat the refugees like crap, and Britannia is a bit surprising, but with my old boss on the throne, I can see it working out.'

What follows was signing off forms after forms. There was so much paperwork just to keep track of what being taken out of logistics that the refugees might have to sleep on the ground.

Luckily, the locals are self-sufficient and used the cover of their wagon as makeshift tents and hunted the local game as long as they stick to the designated area. The last thing anyone wants is one of the locals being blown to pieces stepping on a landmine.

Finally, the supplies are given the green light to be provided to the refugees. The supplies are for other refugees brought into the same camp stationed outside the main base.

Lelei watches the iron elephants and rhinos plowed the land faster than every capable man in an entire village. She couldn't understand how these things even function.

A complex set of gears and pulley system? That's the most likely answer and if there is a source of energy keeping it functional? A windmill needs wind to grind grain and magic need mana to support it. She tries to piece the magic of the Iron Men but feels it's half the story.

She wanted to get close but is halted.

Respecting the order, she backed off and smelled a man cooking on a mobile stove?

She approached the chef while he cooked meat and veggies on a stove seemingly fuel by those metal container.

'Is there a source of fire in those metal container?' She examined.

[Interesting], Lelei pointed at the odd fruit. Lelei remembers his name is 'To-mi-ta'.

She pointed at the fruit and sounded out his name.

He responded with "Ra-D-ish."

[Ra-di-sh?] She looked at it,'I must learn their language to understand these men in green.'

She notices a few other soldiers patrolling the area and noted the different uniforms.

'There other kingdoms?'

The UFN roundtable

Near the Gate

Once construction was finished, a 2 story building was created with one purpose in mind. A meeting room where the leaders of each respective nation were to meet to discuss the next courses of action. Face to face interaction is preferable to prevent any breakdown in communication. As well as making it easy to engage in small talks afterward, so the respective leaders get to know each other.

In a heavily guarded hallway, A single soundproof room house the generals, knights, CEO, and royalty talking about the latest intel.

"We have logged and recorded the refugees coming in," General Hazama reported, "The vast majority are from agricultural villages with a few from towns. After interviewing some of the refugees, I learn that not all of them are fleeing from the flame dragon. Men in imperial uniform are attacking and poisoning the land."

"I heard about that," Leila spoke up, "Bandits are ravaging the lands around us and are leftovers of the armies we annihilated and an unconfirmed report of scorched Earth tactics by a more organized Sederan response army. If we do nothing, the people here will suffer because we decided to flex our military might."

"From experience, We can't risk leaving these bandits or imperial roaming the land. It would be a great benefit to the people perspective of our coalition if we deal with them ASAP," Li Ren commented.

"But we can't send out any of our soldiers at the moment nor do we have proper recon of how massive both the bandits or the imperial faction. If we charge out playing the hero without proper intel, we can start to take casualties," Marybelle mentioned, "I doubt anyone here will-"

"I'll do it."

"The maid of Orlean," Zero asked," This will entail your military unit would be behind enemies line and far from reinforcement and supplies. Even if the bandits are in the thousands, a larger army can be beyond our reconnaissance range. You will be encircled and crushed."

"This is the same type of missions Wyvern-0 have participated in," She announced, "I'll personally oversee the operation to prevent any civilian casualties nor attack garrisons that only protecting the villages or towns. To accomplish this, I wish to have one of the local to be our guide. I have seen the footage and decided on Rory Mercury."

"The supposed immortal follower of the God of Darkness and War?", Hazama questioned, " How are you so quick to trust her? She could be an imperial spy. If I have a say in sending her out, It under my jurisdiction. It's my soldier who found her. We need more time to confirm her allegiance."

"The fact she's superhuman is why we can't send her out," Zero spoke up," It took MVS blades to injured the dragon while HE and 50 cal rounds did nothing. Her halberd and the MVS blades are the only two weapons capable of piercing its armor. If she turns that weapon against you, the lighter armor on your Alexander would be useless. Ms. Mercury wouldn't part with the halberd either because it's a religious artifact."

"So we are just going to let the bandits ravage the people?!", The Chinese general sat up," Again, I refuse to let thugs pillage and rape while we do nothing. My country was once plagued by them while the government did nothing. Because the government is the same as the bandits. Once the Enuch were overthrown, It only has gotten worse. I saw this coming, and I'm perfectly prepared to risk my men. I already set up a mobile task force, and handpicked the most able-body refugee under our care."

"I'm glad someone understands the needs to help the people," Leila nodded.

"The rest of us are thinking about logistics," Princess Marybelle stated," We are unbelievably more advanced than the primitives, but that means nothing if you run out of bullets and fuel. The enemies numbered in 2 million at the very least. The current recon teams are behind the enemy line but within easy range of reinforcement. I have confidence you can take out thousands, but what about ten of thousands or hundreds of thousands? Are you able to hold out hours without even long range artillery or air support?"

"I specifically want Rory because she's revered among the people of this world. The same way Zero and Emperor Lelouch are worshipped, "Leila reasoned, "It would be easy to negotiate a surrender without fighting."

"There also exists on the field reconnaissance," the Chinese General argued, "If it's too large to engage, We far back. If we engage, We will harass."

The Grandmaster Farnese remained silent alongside the two Knight of the Rounds and the royal guard captain who set with the Princess.

Farnese knew that Marybelle knight, Oldrin, would take her side. Oldrin is the type of person that would help Marybelle take the throne if she requested it. Of course, Marybelle has a blatant interest in taking her half brother heart instead. How Emperor Lelouch doesn't realize it, and he has three wives is a mystery even Sherlock Holmes can't solve.

Rin, if she held true to her personal ideal, would side with rushing in. He thought that showing her a picture from a burnt-out village and some dead kids will make her leap into Raiden and go out on a hunting trip. She wouldn't feel indebted to Japan or the Black Knights, nor is she fully invested in Britannia. The grandmaster suspect she not even a real Japanese, but a fraud design for public image. She's the most visibly uncomfortable being there.

The next person is a bigger mystery. The royal guard captain whose loyalty is to the vi Britannia bloodline, Jeremiah Gottwald. The easiest way to determine how he thinks is 'What would Lelouch or Nunnally do?'

Nunnally would follow her heart and stop the injustice.

Lelouch would rationalize the benefit and cost.

The Grandmaster suspect Jeremiah would prefer to charge headfirst like a guided missile toward the capital if the first meeting is an indication.

The royal guard captain reached for his earpieces. The grandmaster notices the facial expression of Jeremiah as suppressed joy.

Everyone else was busy yelling at each other when Jeremiah breath in and yelled, "ENOUGH!"

"Before we tear into each other how about we put it to a vote," He hissed.

Andrea Farnese PoV

It's now 4-4 for the Mobile Task Force.

Leila, Li Ren, Jeremiah, and Rin voted to create a mobile task to hunt down bandits and on later conversation, Imperial soldiers.

That's the vote of EU, Chineses, and half of Britannia military voices.

Zero, Hazama, Marybelle, and Oldrin voted to keep themselves from being reckless.

It all comes down to me, the GrandMaster of the Knight of St. Rapheal, The Euro-Britannian voice in this discussion.

On paper everyone regardless of rank has a vote and it's based on the respective leaders of the military factions. A voting system that shifted in favor of Britannia despite the problem being Japan's and to a lesser extent the Black Knights. Britannia along has a vote of five counting Euro-Britannia even if it's supposed to be Jeremiah and myself.

Japan, China, Europe, and the Black Knights may as well be a second class citizen in every discussion. A reminder that countries still have their boundaries, but it Britannia who's in control of the world.

Perhaps counting Europe is too much of a stretch. His Majesty did endorse Ms. Malcal.

Although that is the case, I find it amusing the Homeland opinion isn't unified.

I have already made up my mind and cast my vote.

A/N: I set down for 6 hours and finished writing 1500 words. If anyone thought the conversation was useless, realized that either…

A-Things go on as canon and Italica is saved by the coalition.

B-Things go far off the rails when the Italica arc starts.

Hopefully, the other code geassxgate fanfic is updated. I wouldn't even mind a one-shot collab where multiple Gates open up to all three versions of CG world. I can imagine the utter feeling of whiplash if Zero Emperor Lelouch and my Immortal Emperor Lelouch interact with a nice Britannia ruled by the father they hated so much. The same vice versa when Charles see what his Empire would become and the aftermath if he didn't choose a different path.

Enough rambling, I just enjoy rereading the other CG fanfics, including my own from time to time.

Also, looking back...damnit fanfiction . net. I know it deleted words. I literally wrote and somehow it came out as St. minus the name. And this just prove it. I wrote St. Rapheal without the spacing. It isn't grammartically correct but deleting it is just irritating.

Next fanfic to be updated is either Fate of Humanity or Rei Time Zero.
