SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28

Today is my birthday….

…and IT WAS ALMOST A DISASTER!

So WHAT happened?!

Okay so first of all, today was my birthday party. We usually host two parties for my birthday – one for mainly my school friends and the other for mainly my family, family friends and maybe some of Dad's business partners. The second party is more formal and the first one is more high school-like. The first party was supposed to be held today and the second party is supposed to be held tomorrow.

So there I was getting ready for my party – after a nice bath, I went down for a massage after which I got my hair fixed. Mom had called in some beauticians and they worked on my hair to make it look PERFECT for tonight.

While that was going on, I could smell a terrible stench in the house and so I yelled for Morrison – my butler. He came and I asked him, "Morrison, what is that DISGUSTING smell?"

"It appears to be the effect of the bug repellent spayed by the exterminator we called in, Miss MacKenzie," Morrison replied.

"Oh NOW, we're calling in exterminator?" I asked. "Is Mom like CRAZY?"

"It was actually your father's idea, Miss MacKenzie," Morrison countered.

"OMG, how was HE supposed to know anything when he was away for a business trip in like another state?!" I yelled. "I kept telling Mom about it but she didn't listen!"

"It could be because of the fact that she's worried about something," Morrison said.

"Ugh, WHATEVER," I said. "You can go now, Morrison."

Morrison excused himself.

I honestly thought that by the time was hair was fixed and the massage was over, the stench would go too but NO.

The house was STILL STINKING.

So I called Jess because I had no one to talk to – Mom wouldn't even LISTEN as she was in a total hurry today, running around and making arrangements for the party. As I went up to my room, I started speaking with Jess and I realized that maybe we should cancel it.

"Jess, there's no way I can have this party now! Our house is crawling with bugs!"

"Bugs? What kind of bugs?"

"What?" I asked. "How am I supposed to know what they are? They're these big, black, er… roaches or something."

"Oh… And there are a lot of them? Didn't you call someone?"

"Some guy is here spraying, but now the house stinks!" I said disgustedly. "It STINKS, Jess! How can I have a party with the house STINKING?!"

"Damn," Jess sighed. "Didn't you, like, ask your parents to change the venue?"

"Of COURSE I did!" I said. "I BEGGED Mom to let me have my party at the Country Club! Lyndsey's mom let her have her party at the club. But NOOO!"

"OMG," Jess said. "That sucks."

"I know right! Getting my mom to anything these days is like pulling TEETH!"

At that moment, this little BRAT came out of nowhere. She stumbled out of the bathroom, screaming, "NOOOOOO!" and hit the bed, and then screamed even more, "AHHHHHH!"

I was shocked for a second and then I realized: of COURSE Amanda and her bratty little friends HAVE a compulsion to not even give me a day of peace!

"OMG! Jess, there's a little KID in my room!"

"OMG, what the heck?" Jess asked. "She was in your room this whole time and you didn't see her?"

"She was hiding somewhere," I said, thinking fast. At that time I didn't realize she was in the bathroom. Of course, that's the reason I didn't see her! "She appeared out of nowhere."

"One of your sister's friends, probably," Jess said.

"Oh come on! I've told Amanda a million times my room is off-limits to her and her pesky little friends. Hold on," I said, as I noticed her stumbling across and started yelling at me.

"Right."

"HEY, tooth fairy!" she yelled. "You can never-"

"WHAT THE HELL YOU STUPID BRAT!" I yelled back.

"MOM! Amanda and her friends are playing in my room again!" I yelled, directing my voice downstairs. "Would you PLEASE do something?"

"Okay, Jess, I'm back. If they so much as touch my makeup again, I swear, I'm going to strangle Amanda," I said, getting back to Jess and ignoring the kid, who was still yelling nonsensical things to me.

"Don't you dare touch me you, you…WICKED TOOTH FAIRY!" that girl screamed at the top of her lungs.

"Hold on a minute, Jess," I said, covering the phone again.

"WHO told you I was the tooth fairy? WHAT are you doing in my bedroom? And WHERE is Amanda?!"

"You can't have my tooths! NEVER!"

"MOM! AMANDA! Hold on, Jess. I have to get rid of this little kid. Then I'm going to KILL Amanda!" I hissed and then took one of the kid's hands. "Okay. Outta my room, right this-"

"STOP! Let go of me! I LOVE my tooths!" she resisted me, and kicked my foot!

Now it was my turn to scream in agony.

"MOM! I've just been attacked by a demonic munchkin!" I said, pissing off the kid as she probably hated being referred to as a demonic munchkin, which was my intent anyway. I yelled again as I realized that the spot was starting to turn black and blue. "OMG! I think I'm bruised! I can't wear my new Jimmy Choo flip-flops with a big bruise on my leg!"

"Are you still there, Jess? I can't have my party like this," I shook my head and added. "I've got a bruise the size of a pancake.

"You WHAT?" Jess asked. "You were bruised by a pancake?"

"NO! I didn't get bruised by a pancake! I said… Hold on…!" I disconnected the call. The call can wait – I had to take care of things at hand first.

I started going down the stairs, yelling for Mom. But she couldn't hear me. Susan, one of our maids, was hurrying towards me.

"Mom! Last week Amanda and her friends put gum in my hair and colored with my lipsticks! Now one of them just…"

"Miss MacKenzie," Susan approached me. "Are you alright?"

"Of COURSE I'm not!" I yelled at her. "Don't you see this bruise, Susan?"

"I'm sorry," Susan apologized. "I'll get the first aid."

"Do you know where Mom is?" I asked her as I started limping downstairs.

"I think she is by the telephone next to the living room," Susan said as she helped me walk downstairs.

When I finally found Mom, I told her, "MOM! We should cancel the party!"

"Actually, even I was thinking about that," Mom said, to my shock.

"Wait, wha…?"

"The house… is not in a very good condition," Mom said, as she fanned her nose from the smell.

"DUH! You finally realized that!"

"You wanted it in the Country Club, right?" Mom cracked a smile.

"Mom, are you okay?" I asked, shocked. What's wrong with Mom? Why is she suddenly doing everything I want? Not that I hate it, but its just WEIRD. Also, did she just SMILE?

"I'm fine, sweetie," Mom said. "You want it in the Country Club or not?"

"Y-yes, I do," I said, still shocked.

"Alright, let's talk over this in dinner," Mom said. "Tell your friends we've canceled it."

"Wait – but what am I supposed to say?" I yelled as she walked away from me.

"Make some excuse, dear," Mom said, as she left me standing. "I know you're great at coming up with excuses."

I was so taken aback by it that I TOTALLY forgot to tell her about the whole Amanda thing. Speaking of Amanda, she denied everything I accused her of and instead accused me of being a LIAR.

I'll take my revenge on HER.

I called Jessica and updated her about everything.

"Aren't you mad?" Jess asked. "I mean, the whole party got canceled and now we have to come up with some dumb excuse."

"Mad? Are you kidding me?!" I smiled. "I'm RELIEVED! Now I don't have to host a party in my house OR show up at my own birthday party with a bruised leg!"

"OMG, you're right!" Jessica squealed.

We ended the conversation after brainstorming for the best excuses for some time.

As for tomorrow's party – the one where all my relatives will attend – isn't canceled after all. But Jessica or anyone else at school need not know about THAT as they're all not attending.

Looks like things are finally going MY WAY!

:D

Toodles!

-MacKenzie

Alright, first off there's a reason why Mac's mom didn't allow her to host her party in the Country Club - which I obviously made up for plot convince - and that's because of some business rift between Mac's dad and the club's owner. Today, the problem got solved and so her dad decided the best way to make their relationships cordial is by hosting Mac's party there, thereby being a customer.

Secondly, when I read this scene in the books, I just realized how bratty MacKenzie was and that in my fic she did diverge a bit from canon. That felt a bit bad. However, I'll try to overcome such problems and try to be more consistent with her character.

Anyway, 1400 words guys. Hope you guys had fun with this extra-long chapter (usually chapters are around 500-600 words)
