You Don't Own Me

Chapter 3

"Penny for your thoughts?" Jeremy asked as Elena was brushing out her hair the next morning preparing to go to school.

"No thanks. My thoughts are worth more than that."

"Are you at least ready for school?"

"It takes time to look this good, I'll be down in fifteen."

"Make it ten or I'll leave your ass here." Jeremy huffed closing her door as Elena sighed. Siblings.

Five minutes later, her mother called her down as Elena rolled her eyes. He couldn't even give her five minutes before complaining to their mother. Figures.

"What? What's so important that you had to interrupt what little time I had left to get ready?"

"First off, don't talk to me like that, I'm your mother and I won't hesitate to shell out an appropriate punishment and secondly, we have a problem."

"What kind of problem?"

"The school administrators are combining the schools."

"What? What does that mean?"

"It means starting today the kids of heroes and villains will be attending school together."

"What? No. They can't do that, Can they?"

"They can and they have. Now you two better be off before you're late. I just thought I would give you a heads up before you discovered it yourself."

"Careful there, we might start to believe that you care."

"Get to school before you're late again."

"Alright. Alright. I'll try to be home before midnight tonight."

"Don't you dare."

Laughing, Elena made her way out of the door, her smile falling as she wondered how she was going to make it through this day with all those stupid hero kids by her side.

"You can't be serious." Caroline muttered as she stood by Elena and her fellow villains as the kids of the heroes stepped onto the threshold looking at the school as if it were contaminated by some form of poison and this was all a trick.

"I mean they've been trained to not trust us since birth, That won't necessarily change because they're forced to be here."

"What I don't understand is why they came here? Isn't the hero's school nicer?"

"They wouldn't want to waste their nice amenities on villain kids. They'd rather have less, so we won't have more."

"Are they sure we're the fucked-up ones?" Caroline asked narrowing her eyes slightly.

"Come on, let's get to class." Elena suggested grabbing onto Caroline's arm as they waited in line to get into the school. Why did they have to install a stupid metal detector?

"Morning Gilbert." The guard said smiling at her as she emptied her pockets and put her backpack on the belt.

"Morning Dorian."

"You're in the clear." He said as he checked her, and she went into the school taking in all the new students.

Sighing, Elena made her way to her locker surpassing the urge to groan at what she saw. A single black rose. A rose who could have only come from one person.

Taking the rose from her locker, Elena threw it in a nearby trashcan as she opened her locker where Caroline finally caught up to her.

"I take it Kai gave you another rose."

"Yes, which is beyond annoying because I don't know how many other ways, I can tell him that I'm not interested."

"I don't see why, Kai is hot and deliciously evil, why wouldn't you want to get with someone like that?"

"It's probably because I prefer my crabs in the ocean."

"Ouch, I'm wounded." Kai Parker responded as Elena slammed her locker.

"And I'm done with this conversation." She smiled moving past him thinking she had escaped his clutches, but today Kai was being persistent.

"When are you going to give up the act?" he asked shoving his hands in his pockets.

"Whenever you stop jerking off in the middle of history class."

"That happened one time in sixth grade."

"And yet people still remember it as if it were yesterday."

"Has anyone told you you're really pretty?"

"Am I supposed to be impressed by that mediocre compliment?"

"Depends, is it working?"

"Listen, I'm only going to say this once so pay attention. I am in no way, shape, or form interested in you. I would rather get down on my hands and knees and suck a hero's dick before I ever let you take me on a date. Hell, I might even fuck one before that too. Just because Kat liked you and every other villain swoons over you doesn't mean I'm obligated to feel the same way. Now please get over this obsession with me and stop putting roses on my locker. I hate roses almost as much as I hate you."

"So, sunflowers then?" Kai smiled as she turned and walked away. Fucking idiot.

"I hate sunflowers!"

"What is your favorite flower?" Caroline whispered when Kai was out of earshot.

"Lotuses, but I don't need Kai to know th-"Elena started to say as she fell forward on top of the guy who had danced with her last night. What the actual hell-

"Lotuses huh? I guess you're just full of surprises." He smiled as Elena rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, they're beautiful. Can you get off me?"

"Of course." He said getting up and extending his hand which she didn't take as she picked herself up.

"If we keep running into each other. I'm eventually going to have to learn your name."

"Let me save you the trouble. The name is Damon Salvatore."

"Elena Gilbert." She greeted back as Caroline looked him up and down.

"And you are?" Damon asked Caroline who fixed him with her best icy glare.

"Forbes. Caroline Forbes." She spat out. She despised heroes.

"Pleasure to meet you." He answered with his best smile.

"Wish I could say the same." Caroline shot back sweetly throwing her hair over her shoulder.

Shrugging, Damon clutched his backpack turning his attention back to Elena.

"It was nice seeing you again Elena. I hope I get to see you more soon." He said leaving Caroline and Elena alone as Elena watched Damon walk away thinking maybe Damon Salvatore would be a fascinating person to get to know.
