Now this pop into my head during a lunch break at work. I'm revamping this story but taking it in a new direction because the original plot would have just been too complicated, I might bring it back later though in Romeo's Life

This story has Fresh Prince of Bel-Air vibe in a way to it but takes on a more serious note.

Chapter 1

It's Your Choice

It is written that when he was cast out of the heavens, he cursed the gods as he fell.

The Prince of Darkness. The Archfiend. The Lord of the Pit.

He cursed them with every fiber of his being in words so foul and dark that a dozen of the lesser deities were wiped from existence for merely hearing them.

He damned their very essence,

and everything they stood for.

He belittled their accomplishments along with their creations.

But before he struck the ground and plummeted through it, he tainted their greatest creation of all.

Mankind.

He swore that as long as he existed, a legion of humanity would forever be his cursed children, bearing his mark and hearing his voice in their head.

And that one day, he would return and claim what was rightfully his alongside those unfortunate souls; these devils in human skin.

Through death and destruction.

Through blood and hellfire.

The sound of heavy knocking awoke her from her slumber, its sound echoing throughout her tiny apartment. As the blurriness in her eyes started to retract and her vision became clear, she realizes that she fell asleep on the couch in her living room. Getting to her feet, she steps over dozens of books on dancing, paper plates, and other assorted litter that laid scattered about the floor as she makes a beeline to the door, where the knocking continued.

As she struggles to deactivate and unlock the magic runes and bolts on her door, she hears voices on the other side of it, both of which she was all too familiar with and when the door swings open she is greeted by all too familiar faces.

"Hey, Robae", the tired woman says as she looks into the dark green eyes of her old childhood friend and current captain of the city guard station in the Julian District of Crocus, "What he do this time?"

The tall man who appears to be in his mid-thirty chuckles a little as he and the woman direct their attention downward to the purple-haired thirteen-year-old boy, dressed in a sleeveless black T-shirt along with matching knee-length pants and shoes along with a pair of sunglasses on his face. The officer was currently holding him with one hand firmly placed on the special anti-magic collar around the boy's neck while the child could only look at the floor in quiet anger.

The woman quickly takes note of the black fingerless gloves on the boy's hands and lets out a silent prayer of thanks to whatever god was listening.

"Well, Enno", Robae started, "It was actually quiet for once with Romeo and his friends. They only pick-pocketed seven people, though two of them were nobles, including the son of a duke. They got into four altercations with some rival northside gangs, his gang then beat up and rob three tourists, and they only broke into six houses the whole day. I only caught him because he got separated from the rest of his gang while they running from us and we corner him in an alley. He took out three of our newest recruits and gave one of my more senior sergeants a broken nose with a kick before we were able to subdue him and it only took a two dozen men to do that. I'm going to have to work overtime in order to sweep this under the rug."

Enno glares down at her only son who refused to meet her eyes, "Go to your room, now."

The boy says nothing but looks up at the captain and motions his head to the collar.

"You already know the drill, kid. The effects will wear off in a few hours and you'll be able to burn it off yourself", Robae tells him only to receive what looked like a glare from Romeo in response. Before the teenager could say anything though, he was swatted upside the head by his mother.

"Room! Now!", she commands and her son nearly ran down the hall.

"Take your shoes off!", Enno screams and her son stops short of entering the hallway and does just that, revealing black ankle braces around his feet. He places the shoes next to his door and swiftly enters his room.

"Enno, we need to talk, may I come in?", Robae asks quietly only to have his friend step aside to allow him in.

"I have a feeling I know what this is about", she confesses.

Robae lets out a heavy sigh and shakes his head before speaking, "Enno, I'll get straight to the point. Romeo is starting to draw a lot of attention to himself and my friends in the Royal Guard tell me that certain powerful people are getting afraid. They're practically begging the king to take more drastic measure as they have already in other countries against others of his kind."

Enno punches the wall next to her, putting a dent into it, "Don't you label my son as if he's some kind of freak! I don't give a damn if you're a captain of the guard or not!", Enno threatens as she advances on him, "It's not his fault for what happen!"

"Easy, Enno", Robae throws his hands up, "I'm just stating facts. In case you haven't realized, I don't even need to do that", as he taps the sign that was on her front door.

Enno crosses her arms in a huff, still glaring at her friend.

"Enno, you don't have neighbors on either side of you. No one lives above or below you; no one even lives across the hall. In fact, the only other person who lives on this floor is Old Lady Mcclain and that's because she practically raised you", Robae explains, "And the reason why is because of Romeo and his "activities", along with his condition."

"What do you expect me to do?", Enno wonder.

"Listen, maybe all he needs is a change of scenery, away from the slums and the gangs", Robae suggested.

"Who would watch him? Neither my family nor his father's family has talked to me since his birth", Enno admits as she leans against the wall for support.

"What about his father in general?", Robae ask.

"Macao?", Enno laughs, "He would be the worst choice to look after even if he could stay sober long enough!"

"Well, look on the bright side if he does go to him", Robae says, "He would be away from all the violence here in the southside and spend more time with his father."

"Macao spending more than just a few days with Romeo?", Enno laughs, "That's a funny joke."

Robae throws his hands up in a shrug, "It's not a joke. This just might be the best choice for Romeo if he goes and stays in Magnolia for a while."

The look on Enno's face said it all, "You're serious? Do you have any idea how long the process is to get him traveling papers? Do you also realize that I'm working three jobs as it is just to make rent, so I wouldn't be able to go with him."

"Look, I'll pull some strings and get him the papers he needs so he can get on a train by himself. I got friends in high places", Robae explains, "Just call ahead to Macao and have him start making the proper arrangements for Romeo's arrival. I don't think Magnolia ever had to deal with someone like him before and there's a lot of protocols."

"Fine, we'll see how this goes", Enno relents after a moment.

"Trust me, Enno, you're making the right choice", Robae says as he leaves through the door, leaving the single mother alone in her living room with nothing more than her own thoughts. She moves back to her original spot on the couch and stares at the lamia-phone on the stand next to her. For an entire hour, she just sat there looking at it, a thousand thoughts running through her head before she finally reaches for the phone. Slowly and painfully she dials the number of the one man who single-handily changed her life forever.

For what seemed like an eternity, she listens to the ringing on the other end, silently praying that he was out at the bar and not home at the moment. Just as she was about to hang up, someone picks up on the other line, answering the phone in a drowsy voice and Enno was almost sure she could smell the alcohol that was no doubt on his breath.

"H-Hello?"

"We need to talk", was Enno's reply as she cut straight to the point, "About our son."

The Next Morning.

He stirs himself awake, his hand lightly brushing up against the burnt collar while the other one dangle over the side of his mattress and onto the floor. As the sun drifts in through the bars in his window and lands on his eyes he struggles to remain asleep, drowning out everything around him in an effort to remain in dreamland. But alas, his struggles were in vain as the door to his small room was kicked open and he was startled awake by the sound along with it slamming into the wall, causing small flecks of the ceiling to rain down on him.

"Get up and pack", Enno orders as she grabs a suitcase from behind her and throws it in front of her only child, "Your train leaves two days from now in the morning."

"I'm sorry, what the hell?", was Romeo's sluggish response and his mother reply in kind with a hard slap to his face.

"Don't use that language underneath my roof and I don't want you using it while you're at your father", Enno orders, causing even more confusion for the young teenage boy.

Romeo lets out a long breath as he presses down on his cheek in an effort to ease the pain, "Okay, mom, let's go back to the part where I have to pack, shall we?"

Enno points downward at the case in front of Romeo, "Get pack because your train is leaving in two days and I don't want you forgetting anything."

"Okay, we're making some progress here. Now, why would I be packing to catch a train?", Romeo comments.

"Because you're going to stay with your father in Magnolia for a time", she says as she turns and walks out to the living room while counting down.

"Three...two…one", she whispers right before...

"I'M WHAT!", Romeo screams as he bolts into the hallway after, "Where did this come from all of a sudden?!"

"Because I'm tired of waking up in the middle of the night and opening the door to see you and Captain Robae standing there", Enno explains as she began cooking breakfast in the cramped kitchen provided by the apartment complex, "So you'll be staying with your father in Magnolia until further notice."

"But-but since when am I allow to get on a train so easily?!", Romeo try to argue.

"Ever since Robae decided to do us a favor and get you the proper papers to allow you to travel."

"Awfully nice of him", Romeo grumbles, "Do I get a say in this whatsoever?"

"No", Enno simply says as she lights her finger up and uses it to start the oven, "You don't."

"You're sending me to stay with a guy who I haven't spoken to face to face in like four years!", Romeo brings up.

"That "guy" is your father.", Enno points out as she cracks two eggs into a pan before placing it over the oven.

"Could have fooled me", Romeo spats and Enno turns her attention to him.

The mother and son stare in silence at one another for a couple of moments, the sizzling of the eggs the only sound to be heard before Enno began speaking again.

"You're going to stay with your father in Magnolia and that's that", Enno says one more time before return to the pan, "Your train leaves in two days and your dad will pick you up at the Magnolia train station."

For the first time in years, Romeo felt more than just a minor annoyance at his mother as he stood there, heaving heavily while trying to calm himself, at least enough to make the voice in his head go away.

"Just like that you're kicking me out to be someone's else problem so you can have a more easygoing life?", he growls, "Now you're tired of being a single mom to a hellsoul?"

"Go pack up, Romeo. I won't tell you again", Enno replies, her eyes never leaving the stove.

Seeing now that he was fighting a losing battle, Romeo stomps to his room and slams the door, its noise reverberating throughout the complex. For a couple of seconds, Enno continues to cook the eggs before suddenly stopping and slumping down to the floor, tears slowly falling from her eyes as she tries to figure out what horrible things did she do in the past that made her only child be born a cursed one.

On the outside of her apartment hung a sign on the door, it's huge letters embedded with powerful magic to keep it from being removed.
