A/N: Just a little something inspired by the episode "Prom Night" (1x19) and the song "Love Love Love" by Of Monsters and Men.

CLUELESS

She couldn't know by that time. Her girly brain was so caught up in her own teenage love dramas that no other subject seemed to matter; no other external stimuli would be perceived by her Kelso-dazzled head. Completely and deeply unaware.

She did notice though that he was taken aback by her beauty when he first saw her in that lilac gown. Of course, she looked stunning and he was a man, for Christ's sake. It was a given, but also too obvious, and maybe that was as far as she noticed.

She was completely oblivious to the gentle hold he kept on her body, even though they danced together the whole night through. His hand rested firmly on the small of her back, keeping her close as if he never wanted to let her go. A tingling feeling bothered his stomach, something he'd never experienced before; it was a strange warmth consuming him from the inside out, and oddly, he wanted it to last forever.

He caught himself picturing her soft hands sliding from his shoulder down to his chest, slowly undoing each and every button of that awful lavender shirt until his bare skin was completely exposed to her touch. He shivered at the thought of his lips descending onto her mouth, wiping away the sadness she felt right then over her ex-boyfriend. But she didn't notice it either.

She also missed the way he intently watched her as she babbled endlessly about Kelso. The intensity of his stare was so overwhelming that anyone with watchful eyes would notice he was completely hooked. But words had never been his forte, so he silently hoped she would look up and catch his eye. There was truth in them. She did eventually, though it didn't mean she actually saw what he was trying to say. Perhaps the only time she'd actually spoken to him with her eyes was when he was across the ballroom, by the buffet, and she was back in Kelso's arms. She wanted to thank him. That was all.

So none of that really mattered back then. She couldn't know that that night was the shift point for him. The moment when he realized she wasn't just a spoiled rich girl who used to hang out on the basement attached to his friend's mouth. She had no idea he would stick to her side if she got into an argument, or punch someoneĀ“s face just to defend her honor. He would be willing to teach her how to be bold and confront her enemies with his own strategies, something he'd never done to anyone before, not even to his best friends. He would even go to jail for her if he had to. He could be the most important person in her life if she wanted him to.

She just couldn't know any of this. Not yet.

He could though, but he also understood she couldn't love him. Not right now. So there was just nothing left to do except wait.

Maybe someday she would stop being so damn clueless.
