Everybody Knew

She noticed too late that his shirt collar had her lipstick staining it, and he didn't realise that he'd nipped her neck so hard until a cut of giggle alerted him.

Amelia sighed to herself as she rubbed at her temples tiredly. She'd known that it was a bad idea, she'd told him no, but the moment he touched her, she was a lost cause. He was fully aware of the consequences of his touch to her. He often used it to his (and hers if she's honest) advantage. John was her poison and her drug rolled into one delicious package.

The rumours (oh god, the rumours) were everywhere. They were shagging, they were in a relationship, they hated each other everywhere but in bed, they were engaged, they were married, they were filing for divorce... the list was endless and she couldn't help but sigh when she heard the tail end of the whispers when she walked down the Ministry corridors.

Why did nobody realise that they were in the middle of a war and being thourougly shagged on her desk by her subordinate was about the only stress release she was getting?

John enjoyed watching the blush creep over her creamy skin whenever the rumours were uttered in her hearing. He enjoyed the flashes of annoyance and the occasional flashes of remembrance in her eyes when they met his. He enjoyed the excitement of being secret, and the tensions of being found. He enjoyed Amelia.

That everybody knew that she was his often gave him a primal feeling of pride. This beautiful, strong, independent woman depended on him to release her stress, to take her apart in ways no other could. He unwound her, he took her apart, and more importantly, she fell willing when he pushed her to fall. No matter that she often stressed how inappropriate their actions were, no matter that she often told him it was the last time, they couldn't continue what they were doing, he loved her and he refused to give her up.

Everybody knew what happened on a frequent schedule on the desk in the office of the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. They whispered, they giggled and they speculated.

Only Amelia and John understood that it was more than sex in the workplace. Only Amelia and John knew that it was the only thing keeping them from giving up completely.
