A/N: I really should hang onto this story till Valentine's day but you know I can't wait that long...
Inspired by today's true events (aka me and my boyfriend huhuhuhu). I feel like I wrote an autobiography of my life the past couple
weeks or so, lol.
"So that's the shit I've been dealing up with lately. How was your day?"
Lucy curled back into her boyfriend's arms, nestling in close. She sighed and let the tension leave her body as his arms tightened around her. Laxus always listened to her, letting her just vent about what was going on in her life, her classes, the shit-show that was the weekly school bistro, and the sudden responsibilities of the culinary campus club that had been thrust on her by her enthusiastic redheaded whirlwind of an absent president.
His chest rumbled with a laugh under her ear. One large hand carded through her loose gold hair.
(As soon as she had crossed his threshold, Lucy had yanked out her ponytail with a huff and the declaration that she would put it back up when she had to go back to the school. While she could wear it down, she would wear it down.)
As Lucy shifted slightly into a more comfortable position, she happened to glance up and find Laxus' eyes unexpectedly fixed on hers. There was a subtle shift in the energy of the room, a thrum of electricity that sizzled through her from her head down to the tips of her toes.
Laxus' thumb brushed her chin, encouraging her to look at him. "Lucy…can I kiss you?"
Lucy froze.
In the three months they had been dating, Laxus had never made a move to kiss her nor even ask if he could. She'd been chafing about it but simply couldn't work up the courage to talk to him about it. Cana hadn't been any help in the matter at all, teasing Lucy and Laxus about being boring adults, who had study dates instead of actual leave-the-house dates.
But this? Out of the (supposed) blue? Her brain jolted to a stop and quit working all together.
She twisted in his arms so she didn't have to face him, her hands sneaking up to cover her face in embarrassment. Lucy could feel the happiness seeping out of him at her pulling away. She paused. They'd been dating for months now and she didn't like the holding pattern they were in. Why was she pulling back? She wanted to go forward in this relationship, wanted to see where this would lead, why stop?
Slowly, Lucy turned back to Laxus, unwilling to meet his eyes. His hand slid under her chin and their lips met in an awkward but tender first kiss.
There were no sparks, no sudden buzz of electricity, no rainbows or fireworks. Just two pairs of chapped lips and closed eyes.
When they both pulled back, Lucy buried her face in his neck, unwilling to move. She knew she had club duties later on but being held by Laxus was a much more appealing option.
Her eyes slid shut to the sound of his beating pulse.
This, right here, was bliss.
A/N: I feel like I should insert that one side eye emoji thing after writing this. ┬┴┬┴┤( ͡° ͜ʖ├┬┴┬
And yes, this is all true. It happened today.
