And here we go...

xxxx

"You're extremely cheerful today." Kara observes as she looks upon the older girl's boundless grin.

"Well," Lena circles her arms around the blonde's midsection. "I've got an endless array of books to read, enough movies to view for a month, no pressing projects, but most importantly," she beams that easy and carefree grin, another look that only Kara has ever seen. "I've got you all to myself." she leans in, presses their lips together, before peppering tiny kisses all over the Kryptonian's blushing face.

"I like it when you're whimsical."

"Only when I'm whimsical?" she clucks the tip of her tongue on the roof of her mouth in mock disappointment. "What about when I'm impish?" her head tilts as she gauges the taller girl's reaction.

"I like all of you." Kara automatically answers with fondnesss.

"Remind me how much you like me again." the Kryptonian responds by joining their mouths together. Lena responds eagerly, brushing her tongue alongside Kara's gently. The kiss they share is languid and slow as they bask in each other's presence and the fact that they have the whole house to themselves. "Kara darling," Lena mutters in between kisses. "We're floating again."

"Ooops." it's a little hard to focus on anything else but the feel of Lena against her.

"Trust me, I don't really mind." Lena's not afraid of flying as long as Kara's got her arms wrapped around her securely. "It's just that I wouldn't want to be too distracted." she doesn't want to burn the lasagna in the oven again because she's too busy being mushy with the super powered girl. "I like that you feel comfortable enough to use your powers around me." she assures as Kara settles them down on the stable ground of the living room floor.

"I feel safe when I'm with you." Lena won't restrict and confine her to a role that forces her to remain under the radar like the rest of her family. "Like I can do anything," in retrospect she probably can due to her alien physiology but her actions have always been deemed to have dire consequences. "Because nothing bad will happen if I let loose." it's absolutely refreshing, being with someone who accepts all of her. "We still have about thirty minutes before the timer goes off." she informs as she uses her x-ray vision to peer through the walls and look at the timer on the oven.

"Just how far can you see with those x-ray eyes of yours?" Kara smiles because the curious mind of Lena has reared its head once again.

"In terms of miles, I don't really know." she doesn't exactly have freedom to test her limits. "Right now I can see through the whole first floor of your house, past the trees, and it stops just toward the clearing on the other side of your estate." she knows the genius isn't going to be experimenting on her anytime soon and is just asking for the sake of knowing.

"What color underwear am I wearing?" she watches as red spreads from Kara's face throughout her entire body.

"Red." the Kryptonian whispers.

"Kara I didn't think you had it in you." Lena looks almost proud because she didn't think the girl would dare take a peek.

"I didn't look!" Kara protests quickly. "I just… I… I saw you pull it out of the drawer this morning." she murmurs as she averts her eyes, looking everywhere but at the raven haired beauty in her arms.

"I'm not exactly opposed to you looking." Lena smirks as she takes Kara's chin between the crook of her index finger and thumb. "I think I've proven I'm not opposed to you touching." she reminds the younger girl of their rather passionate embraces. "I am your girlfriend, after all." the words bring about a dreamy twinkle on Kara's face.

"Yes you are but I don't want you to feel like I'm objectifying you." she doesn't want Lena to feel like she's only into her because of her looks.

"Darling, I wouldn't be offended if you do." Lena winks cheekily at the blonde. "I happen to know I'm gorgeous." she smirks playfully at the taller girl who's shaking her head in amusement. "But I also that's not the reason why we're together."

"Though it is a plus." Kara quips, finding Lena's demeanor infectious.

They share a laugh and another kiss that quickly becomes heated though this time, they managed to maintain solid footing. Well, to be precise, Kara's pinned on top of Lena as they continue to lock lips and lose themselves in the moment.

It isn't long until the alarm goes off. Kara reluctantly peels herself off of Lena, allowing the cook to pull the lasagna out of the oven.

The Kryptonian decides to busy herself, grabbing the remote from the coffee table before settling back onto the couch. She turns the television on, surfing the channels, and she keeps changing until she finds the same picture being shown throughout the different networks.

Apparently there was some big emergency that the news decided to cover. Kara can't help but tune in.

There had been a bombing in Metropolis. Countless people had been injured and at least three people were dead. It was the aftermath of an attack that had a specific target, the anchorwoman informs. The explosive had been rigged to the car that's still ablaze. The news crews were trying to determine who exactly had been driving the vehicle that had been detonated.

She doesn't have to wait too long to find who the explosives had been meant for as the name of the target flashes through.

Kara instantly turns toward the kitchen.

"No…" Lena stands still as she views the writings on the screen. Her chest constricts and she's finding it impossible to breathe. There's a hand on her back and her sternum holding her upright after the Kryptonian used her super speed to aid her girlfriend. "No." she utters, completely absorbed by her disbelief.

She'd just spoken to him the night before. After letting her sweat it out, he'd finally given his approval of her proposal and even agreed to her condition to not shut the plant down. She can still hear his voice as he congratulated her on her tenacity, how he practically applauded her Machiavellian maneuvers, before ending the call with a hint of a warning. He'd told her that she'd won the battle and she knew what he meant then.

The war had only just begun.

If her father only knew just how bloody and grotesque her coming combat was going to be. She'd been prepared for him of course but this, her eyes remain glued to the live broadcast of the remnants of Lionel Luthor's burning car, this event had been unforeseeable.

She was prepared to battle her father.

She had been hoping to somehow find a way to avoid a clash with her brother.

A part of her had believed she could appeal to Lex's better nature, that his affection for her could sway him, but as the cause of Lionel Luthor's death flashes on the screen it becomes irrefutable that whatever kindness Lex would have been willing to bestow for his little sister had gone up in flames alongside their father.

She watches the fire continue to consume Lionel Luthor's classic Rolls Royce, his favorite car. It's evident her current predicament has gotten much worse.

ALIENS ATTACK LUTHOR CEO

The titles scroll repeatedly through the screen and despair filled grief consumes Lena. The only thing that's keeping her from crumbling into a ball is Kara's strong grip around her waist.

"No, it can't be true." denial takes hold of the usually rational raven haired genius. There's no way in hell fate would deal her such a shitty card. Life certainly would not make things between her and Kara even more difficult than they are so she refuses to believe it until it's confirmed. "Lex." she whispers as she tears herself away from Kara, scrambling toward her phone. "Lex…" she reads the name on her missed call list and she knows he's called so many times to confirm the truth being blasted through the television speakers.

She's about to press call because her brother needs her right now but she pauses because she knows there's something she must do before she makes that call.

Kryptonite meets baby blue.

"He has a daughter," Kara murmurs, not wanting Lena to struggle with how to begin this particular conversation. "Clark only mentions Lex Luthor," a man who used to be his friend, "But Eliza met her," the Danvers matriarch had met the sad lonely girl at the Luthor Plant. "Doesn't he?" she asks though judging by her tone, she already knows the answer.

"He did." she catches herself. "He does." Lena responds because not even his death will change the fact that he's treated her the same way he's treated Lex. He's given her the same privileges and opportunities as his own blood and truth be told, there were moments where the youngest Luthor felt as though she really were his favorite as opposed to a tool being used to prod Lex to motivate him and rush toward his path to greatness. "He does." Lionel Luthor is her father and she is his daughter.

"Lena?" Kara waits for the confirmation, for the affirmation to her suspicions.

"Kara," kryptonite depths search those truthful blues for any hint of annoyance or shock. She finds instead a sea of patience and understanding. "I've been searching for a way to tell you," it seems like an excuse and maybe it is but it doesn't make it any less true. "The timing never seemed right," something unexpected always seems to happen. A new obstacle rears its head just as she's gathered her courage. "I just want you to know that nothing will ever change the way I feel about you," but now she realizes it was all pointless because their hardships are far from over. In fact, she's certain they've only just begun. "And I can only hope you'll feel the same." there's no use delaying the inevitable.

Destiny has deemed her confession compulsory.

"Nothing will change things between us." Kara's quick to offer her assurance, hands grasping gently as she cups Lena's face between her hands. "I love you." she says so effortlessly.

Lena allows herself to revel in the blonde's earnest confession. She commits this moment to memory, telling herself that no matter what, she'll always remember having Kara so close while she looked upon her with such love and adoration. She can't remember anyone showering her with this much affection.

"I hope you still feel that way." Lena knows about the difficulties and believes even more that Kara deserves to know the truth, to know just what exactly they're getting themselves into.

"I love you." she reiterates the phrase she hasn't uttered since Krypton crumbled to nothingness. It's a sentiment she's familiar with, she thinks of her parents and the Danvers, but she has never felt it to this degree. Loss has a way of intensifying connection but Kara doesn't dwell on the why's and how's. All she knows is that Lena is home. It's an irreversible fact. "Always."

"When I met you," she clutches Kara's wrists, holding the girl in her rightful place. "I was drawn to you," Lena begins her confession. "And I didn't want to ruin things by telling you who I really was…" there's so much the Kryptonian doesn't know about her but now is the time to change all this. "My birth parents and I were on our private jet," she remembers, her father's vacant expression that contrasted her mother's alluring smile, but that's a story for another day. "There was an explosion," it had been incredibly sudden and she hadn't the opportunity to assess the damage as the sound of machines beeping fills her senses.

She can still feel the way her stomach lurched, how her very breath was sucked from her lungs as the air was vacuumed out of the gaping hole left by the blast, as the plane dropped from the skies. Her fingers had struggled against the frigid cold but she hadn't focused on that.

Somehow she had enough sense to grab the life vest and gathered the strength to swim free.

"I was the only survivor," she can't remember how long she'd been bobbing up and down the ocean, clutching onto that piece of wing that had floated. "I was twelve and a distant relative came and took me in." she recalls the most vital piece of information she has to share because she's not looking for pity. "He was a cousin of my mother's apparently." Lena merely wants Kara to know who she really is and how she came to be. "I was Lady Helena Katherine of house McGrath in Ireland…" a name associated with fear back in Europe because they were notorious for ridding their competition in the most gruesome manner. "And with the death of my parents I became the sole proprietor and owner of McGrath Industries," she announces. "The leading technological wonder in Europe." it's a name that's not exactly unfamiliar to the Kryptonian but Lena isn't done because that's not the nomenclature they have to worry about. "But here," Lena believes this isn't the thing about her identity that Kara should concern herself with.

"Here I am known as the adopted offspring of the wealthy billionaire who owns Luthor Corp." the ruthless businessman who was the cause for the uprooting of Kara's life once again. "I am known as Lionel Luthor's daughter."

She stands still, readying herself for Kara's reaction.

"I am Alexander Luthor's younger sister." the greatest objector of Superman's existence.

The love of Kara's life breathes deeply before uttering the introduction she knows will ultimately change the course of their entire relationship and Lena can only hope that Kara will stay true to her promise of always.

"I am Lena Luthor."
