Moana sighed as she crossed the reef. However this time she was returning from her travels with Maui across the sea. She'd told herself she wouldn't but Moana still found herself looking back as she passed into the lagoon. The water here was shallower and Moana could see the fish swimming around in its currents. As Moana pulled in she ran off the boat into her parents arms. She couldn't help the smile on her face as her family welcomed her home. Before long the whole island had come to witness her return and the cacophony of voices drowned her excited one out.

Lost in the excitement of her return Moana didn't notice when the voices died down slightly turning into shocked whispers. She also didn't notice HeiHei's descent into the water.

'Woah there drumstick.'

Moana gasped the voice just as she remembered filled with masculinity. Spinning round she came face to face with Maui. He flashed his classic smug smirk before Moana leapt into his arms.

'Maui. You came.'

Spinning Moana around with one arm he let out a hearty chuckle. Moana stepped back slightly as Maui put her down. There was an awkward silence before Maui handed HeiHei over. Whispers burst out from behind Moana and she turned to her parents.

'Mum, Dad, this is Maui. Maui these are my parents.'

Moana looked at him clearly worried about his etiquette. Stepping forward Maui made a small bow to the Village Chief before standing beside Moana.

'It's a pleasure to meet such amazing people. I have heard a lot about you from your daughter. You must be very proud of her.'

The tension left the air as Maui engaged in conversation with Moana's parents.

'Moana'

Someone calling her name pulled her out of her mind. Facing her parents Moana realised it had been her father who had called her and she walked over to stand beside him.

'I believe Maui has something he wishes to say.'

Moana stayed at her father's side but moved her face to see Maui. He looked suspicious and Moana wanted to know why.

'Now I believe that there is a ritual for this but as I have been stuck on that island for thousands of years as you know I am afraid I don't know it. So I will just do this in the only way I know how.'

Maui knelt down in front of Moana showing her his submission.

'I have never met a woman like you Mo. So courageous, your bravery never ceases to amaze me. All the adventures we've had, Lalotai, te-fiti. Everything has been amazing and I want to spend my life with you having more adventures whatever they may be. Marry me Moana and I promise I can be the man you need.'

The whole island was silent at Maui's declaration. Moana was in shock and she couldn't feel the tears that rolled down her cheeks. Her voice was unsteady as she spoke.

'No joke?'

'No joke.'

Moana left her place by her parents to leap into Maui's arms once again.

'Yes.'

The word held tears of happiness and the island exploded with joy as all the island people congratulated them. Slowly everyone left until it was just the couple stood on the beach. The sun was setting below the sky as Maui enclosed Moana in his arms. Her lips tilting up to meet his as they sealed their love with a kiss.
