Music Notes
I: euphonium

She loved the trumpet, first and foremost, but she was too small and soft and whimsical and detached. They gave her a euphonium instead. It sat in her lap and she blew her notes into it and the song was gentle too, gentle and not quite sure but it grew on her: music, and the euphonium too and she narrows down her notes as she improves. She's a fairy but she's not whimsical after all, even if she's taken so many years to prune: she's a rose that will slowly grow out and blossom once the weeds are cut loose.
