Jackson and Greta are my original characters, but I don't own CSI.

Not much of a description. Please read and review!

It was a few days after Christmas, and Greta and Jackson's grandparents and family were still at the house. It had been a wonderful holiday, and the grandparents were planning what to do for Greta and Jackson's birthdays.

Greta and Jackson couldn't spend enough time with their family. They loved playing with the toys Santa brought them for Christmas and having their grandparents sing them lullabies and read them stories.

One afternoon, Morgan and Greg returned home from work. Both Greg and Morgan's families knew they faced so much in their jobs as crime scene investigators, and knew their children made everything worthwhile. So Marina and Anita offered to babysit and cook dinner so they could have some time to just themselves.

Jackson happily told Greg about his day with his grandparents, great-grandmother, aunt and uncle. He told him about having lunch with all the grandparents at Papa Eckie's house and how he thought his sister needed a chocolate cake for her first birthday in a few weeks. Morgan happily smiled as she listened to her son. If you'd told her just six or seven years ago that her father would be a doting grandfather and they'd get along, she wouldn't have believed it. But she knew Conrad adored Jackson and Greta. And they were closer than ever.

As Jackson continued to tell his parents about his day and Marina and Anita fixed dinner, Morgan heard a soft coo from the baby monitor. She smiled at Greg and patted his arm. "Be right back," she said as she went to check on her daughter.

Morgan walked into Greta's room and smiled at the baby girl babbling to her teddy bear like she was having a special conversation. She smiled as she thought of how much she loved Jackson and Greta, and loved that Jackson adored his sister. She couldn't believe her baby girl's first birthday was coming up. She smiled at the sweet baby girl with strawberry blonde hair, her eyes and her father's nose and smile.

Greta turned over and smiled when she saw her mother. Morgan smiled and whispered, "hi."

What happened next brought happy tears to Morgan's eyes. Greta looked at Morgan and said, "mama."

Morgan gasped softly. "Yeah. I'm here, sweet girl." She lifted her daughter from her crib and hugged her close. "Mama's here, sweetie." She hugged her happy daughter.

Greg and Jackson stood in the door and watched the happy moment. Greta looked over and smiled at her brother and father. "Dada," she said. Morgan looked over and smiled.

"I heard," Greg whispered. "I was right outside."

Greta simply smiled at her family and patted Morgan's shoulder. "Mama," she said again.

"Greta, you said 'mama'," Jackson said with a smile. "I'm proud of you!" The baby girl smiled at her brother and said, "baba ba!"

"Yeah," Jackson said with a slight laugh. "You said mama!" Greta smiled as if she knew she'd done something really big.

Greg smiled warmly and hugged his family. Morgan hugged her daughter close. "Yes, she did."

The End.
