An Unlikely Team-Up

Wordgirl could scarcely begin to believe her eyes. Teodak MeeCloster was holding the massive stone beast back with a single hand. He was showing a bit of a struggle, his arm trembling with the effort.

Teodak looked at her, and gave what sounded like a disappointed sigh. "Really? This guy is so much weaker than me, and you couldn't even scratch him?"

Wordgirl, despite the hefty object on her back, stuck out her tongue at the armored man. "Oh, shut up! I can hardly begin to match up to you, and whatever that thing is… is just…" Suddenly, the red clad girl's sight became blurry. With one hand, she brushes her face. Her hand came away, fresh with tears. The teenage superhero sniffled a bit. Her head fell, and hot tears fell to the ground. How could she be so-

A sharp "Bang" sounded directly in front of her. Wordgirl looked up to see what had caused it. Teodak was leaning forward, and the creature was falling in an uncontrolled fashion, landing on the target booth. Wordgirl grit her teeth, and closed her eyes, the power of the two behemoths in front of her becoming more and more apparent to her.

Teodak turned and began to approach her. He gently took her face, and had her look at him. "Becky…" the girl's eyes widened at the sound of her secret identity. But Teodak paid that no mind. He continued speaking. "You are not weak. You are a force to be reckoned with. The power that you truly possess is not to be taken lightly. The origin of that power itself… that is a gift from someone who truly loved you." Wordgirl stared into his eyes, confused by his words, but entranced by the glow. This contact was broken when the creature roared, having gotten up from being knocked for a loop. Wordgirl was still staring, when the weight left her hands. Without so much of a warning, she was thrown forward. When she looked back, Teodak was holding up the Ferris wheel.

Wordgirl gave Teodak a look of pure frustration. However, without warning, the creature punched her. The girl skidded backwards, and glared at the creature. Her teeth clenched themselves. Her eyes flashed red briefly, and with a speed far exceeding anything she had ever moved at, her fist collided with the goliath's face. With a loud BANG, the creature went flying, sliding on the ground, making a trench as it went.

But the red clad girl had only begun her assault. With a raw pow exceeding her previous levels, she punched the creature with so much force, and she could feel herself getting stronger by the second. She was pummeling the creature, and with a final hit, she whacked it into the air, and let it fall. The creature fell with a mighty crash. A panting Wordgirl landed gently on the ground, her body screaming with elation, excitement. All that power she felt…

The girl clapped herself in the face. "Whew!" she said, breathing heavily. "That was intense." Wordgirl straightened out, and surveyed her handiwork.

The creature was currently inside of a large crater, and for now, at least, she didn't see it moving. The alien superhero let out a sigh of relief. However, her ears caught the sound.

She leapt back as the creature pulled itself up, and positioned herself into a fighting stance. She glared at the creature for a moment, but then, she noticed something crazy. It was falling to pieces. The heroine actually felt a little bad for the poor thing. It let out a pathetic sounding roar, and tried to strike it's opponent. Becky simply walked out of it's range. "Did I hit it too hard?" she asked no one in particular. "No." Teodak's voice rang. "You did just what I needed."

A whizzing object flew around like a boomerang, and sliced off the creature's head. Becky's hand went to her mouth. She expected to see blood. She expected a gory sight. She did not expect the creature's body to seem solid.

Solid like… Like stone?

Teodak landed beside the body. Wordgirl glared at him. "What?" he demanded, as she clenched her fist quite tightly. "Don't play dumb! You killed it! You murdered this thing!" She shout, immersed in anger. Teodak laughed lightly, enraging her even more. Before she could act, Teodak had begun speaking. "Relax. Stop panicking. Calm down. You can't kill what isn't alive." Becky's eye widened, before narrowing. "How do you know it wasn't-" she started, before Teodak interrupted her questioning. "The energy that it gives off… It feels like that of my grandfather…"

He turned to look at her. "I don't know much about him, but I do know this: He's currently a prisoner within this city, and I intend to save him. Today, Wordgirl, I ask you this- Will you help me?"
