It was her.
He knew that silhouette like the palm of his hand. Even though they were still quite a distance from the city gates, he knew it just from a single glance. No one stood with as much grace as she did, yet still remained as one of the most prominent sharpshooters of this age. His heart pounded in anticipation. She stood waiting for him, her closest advisor beside her. Her silvery white hair blew with the wind, cloak over her shoulders, but no bow in sight.
His men roared in triumph over their victory, speaking of their heroic deeds and memorable battles. To Tryndamere this battle was one of many, but it was worth every ache to see this sight each time. To know that in all the evil and darkness of this world, there was a light waiting in the blackness. A light brighter than any star.
As he neared he could see the finer details of her impossibly beautiful, but cold, features. Her pale face, pure and delicate like a snowflake, which contrasted with the rosy cheeks. Eyes bluer than any ocean, but never missing a single detail. To many, she was an unclimbable mountain, but to him the climb was worth it each time.
All of a sudden the loud victory cheers from his men were silent, and it was just her in his vision. He stood several meters away from her, waiting for her consent. Her icy blue eyes held his gaze, enchanting him to come closer.
And he did.
They stood in silence, eyes locked with no intention of breaking. He was taller than her, bigger than her, but she held his gaze like a fierce warrior, the fire dancing in her eyes.
Her lips curved into a slight smile when he raised his hand slowly to touch her face. He paused then, almost afraid to feel the perfection of her skin, but she moved into his touch, her eyes closing in happiness. Her cheek was cold against his warm hand, but she stayed, lifting her hand to place on top of his.
It was too much for him then, as he pulled her into an embrace, her small body feeling like he could crush it with little strength. She returned the embrace with no hesitance, sighing in both delight and relief, fully trusting in the man before her.
"Welcome back."
Yes, it was definitely worth it each time.
