Hey everyone! Bet you didn't expect me to come out with a new chapter so soon! Well the current catastrophe has given me both more free time and a spur of DETERMINATION! In all seriousness, enjoy and stay safe and healthy!
Undyne sat in the locker room with a towel around her neck. She took a long drink from her water bottle. "Ah!" She shook it and heard nothing. "Crap. Needs a refill." She stood up to go to the water fountain when the door burst open. "Undyne!" It was Alphys, dashing in and wrapping herself around Undyne. "You did it! You made it to the finals! You're so incredible!" Undyne smiled at the praise. "Well that's only 'cause I've got you cheering me on!"
"Oh!" Alphys blushed and went back into her shell. "Well, I wouldn't say that...You'd be great even without me, you know..."
"Undyne!" A man's voice called from the hallway. "Are you here?!" Coming into the doorway was Sour Face. "I-" he stopped when he caught a glimpse of Alphys. "Ah! Monster!"
"Hey!" Undyne took offense. "That's my girlfriend you're screaming at, bub!" It took a few seconds for the male martial artist to regain his composure. "Ahem! I apologize! I am Sour Face, Undyne's senpai!"
"R, really?" Alphys was a little surprised.
"I guess, technically," Undyne admitted. "He trained under Bang but left when Garou kicked his ass."
"Oh yeah, the announcer said something about it, didn't he?" Alphys remembered.
"That's in the past now," Sour Face tried skirting it off. "What matters now is your final opponent."
"Right, Suiryu." Undyne became serious when saying his name. "Is there anything you two can tell me about him?"
"I tried researching the big names before the tournament, but I couldn't find much in terms of media presence." Alphys reported. "He uses something called 'Void Fist', but I don't see any locations where it's taught so I can't give any information on it. Sorry..."
"You did your best," Undyne smiled before turning to Sour Face. "Any tips from you?"
"Uh, just keep calm and remember Master Bang's teachings!"
"Kinda already doing that, but thanks for trying." She looked back at Alphys. "By the way, where's the rest of the gang? I'm actually kinda missing Saitama's dull face; it's oddly soothing."
"Well Genos had to fight some monsters. Saitama's watching it on my phone and sans probably has a rush of customers since it's the end."
"Well at least you're here." Alphys smiled and hugged Undyne. Sour Face turned away, fighting back tears.
"Why can't I get a girlfriend like that?" He squeaked quietly.
Saitama was leaning back in his chair as he looked up in the sky. "Ughhhhh..."
"what's up, buttercup?" sans broke the man's daze.
"Uh, the sky?" sans' chuckle brought a small smile to his face.
"Actually, can you help me with something?"
"as long as it's five minutes or less." The bald hero pulled out Alphys' phone.
"I think I did something to her phone. Can you fix it? Please?"
"sure, pal." He took the phone and looked at the screen.
"Is it okay? Is it broken?! Is it expensive?!"
"well it's a good thing you came to me, but it'll cost you."
"How much?" The usually nonchalant Saitama's eyes widened in fear.
"about enough to enjoy a delicious hot dog." sans pulled one from his tray and gave it to the confused Saitama. The skeleton pushed a button on the side and typed the code for the lock screen. "and voila. huh?" He took a closer look at the screen. "looks like your buddy's in trouble."
"Really?" Saitama finished about half of the dog and still had some in his mouth.
"yup. see here." sans held out the phone. The drone was focused on a crater in the road with Genos lying in it. He was mangled and motionless, his face cracked and dirtied. "Oh." Saitama stood up. "Guess I'd better get to him, then."
"he's a few miles that-a-way." sans pointed toward the south side of the stadium. "if you hurry, you might come back in time for the finale."
"Right. Look after my seat will ya?"
"heh. i used to be a guard in the underground. it's in experienced hands."
"Great." The hero rushed down the stairs to exit the arena. Coming out the same entryway was Alphys, startled by Saitama's leaving. When she returned to her seat, she looked at sans. "Where's he off to?"
"'tama? genos is in a bind so he's going to lend a hand. here." He tossed the doctor's cellphone to her; she comically fumbled trying to grasp it, but she managed to catch it safely. "back to work."
"Wait! sans!" Alphys's protest made sans turn. "I've been meaning to ask...Was it you who brought us here? Did it finally work?"
"...yeah."
"And...Are we safe?" sans kept silent for a few seconds.
"i'm working to get us out. when i've got a team, i'll bring you in." He suddenly winked at her. "just relax. you gotta have faith it'll all work out." He walked away, leaving a concerned Alphys twiddling her fingers around her phone.
"The time has finally come folks!" The emcee announced as Undyne and Suiryu entered the ring. "The rookie from parts unknown has defeated Bakuzan and dark horse Choze to end up here in the finals. Despite the fact she is a monster, she's proven more merciful than her competition! But will this change when she comes up against a powerful opponent like Suiryu?! Win or lose, we're going to see a match unlike any in Super Fight's history!" While Undyne's eye was sharpened into laser focus, Suiryu had a casual smile. They stopped once they reached their places. "Hey." Suiryu called out to Undyne. "Calm down, will ya? You're like that Bakuzan guy without the bloodlust." Undyne was caught off guard by Suiryu's request. "Oh...I, uh, thought you'd be serious like those other guys."
"Yeah, those guys did have a stick or two up their asses. Just wanted to say, congrats on getting this far. Sorry I ghosted you, but I wasn't sure if I'd see you here." Undyne smiled.
"Thanks, man. Heh, this feels like a breath of fresh air."
"No prob. Before we start, can I talk to you about some stuff?" The two were acting like a pair of buddies. "Sure."
"Be honest. You're not actually a rookie. You learned to fight before, right?"
"Heh. Is it that obvious?" Undyne chuckled. "Yeah. I actually used to be a knight in the Underground. Then I became a gym teacher before I wound up here."
"Oh, so you became strong to be a knight?"
"Well, it's a long story, but where I came from, us monsters were trapped underground. It was years before we actually got out, but now things are great...I think."
"Oh?"
"Well we were getting along great with the humans when I left, but now we're in this world..." she was quiet as she contemplated her situation. "You know what? No!" The fish woman grinned again. "I'm with Alphys and Pap and we've made friends! I'm a real martial artist and a hero! Come what may, I'll protect them!"
"That's the spirit," Suiryu smiled. "Though a bit misguided..." His comment made Undyne lower her brow.
"What?"
"Those kinds of lofty, high-and-mighty ideals are just impractical. The reason I became strong was so I could live a carefree life." He shrugged. "I mean you saw me fight those other heroes and they didn't stand a chance. You've got potential, but if you keep playing hero, it'll go nowhere." Undyne's mouth twisted into a scowl.
"Do you even have friends? People to protect?" She spat. "Someone you'd sacrifice everything for to make them okay?! Because if you don't, then you have no right to judge these people who risk their lives for complete strangers! You're the kind of guy who'd turn tail the second things got tough!"
"Well then," Suiryu kept calm. "Prove it to me. Beat me and maybe I'll take it back. I'll warn you, though. If you've been watching me in the tournament, you've seen nothing yet."
"Contestants!" The referee announced. "Get ready!" Undyne and Suiryu each made a stance as they prepared themselves. "And...Begin!" As soon as the referee gave the mark, Suiryu dashed forward and kicked. Undyne caught it and was about to strike with her elbow, but Suiryu kept his smile. He flipped backwards with Undyne being carried with his leg into the air and onto the ground. "Ah!" The hero groaned as she let go, but she quickly got back up. "Well," Suiryu smirked. "At least you can handle my kick." Undyne frowned before breathing and taking another stance. "Water Flowing Rock Crushing Fist!" She dove in and attacked with a flurry of blows that, to the audience, was a blur. Yet even then, Suiryu kept dodging as if he saw them coming a mile away. His cocky smile made Undyne grit her teeth as she continued her assault. Out of nowhere, a jab caught her in her ribs, disrupting her rhythm. Suiryu then swept her legs, knocking her down again. "I gotta say, this is kinda disappointing," Suiryu taunted as Undyne got up clutching her side. "I was hoping that I'd get a good fight this time. But I guess it'll be another boring year. Still, I'll indulge you." He made a fist and rushed at Undyne. "Void Elephant Charge Fist!" At the last moment, Undyne raised her arms to block.
Whump!
The force pushed her back, her feet digging into the stone ground. She was almost at the edge before she stopped. The place where she was hit was battered and blue, a stark contrast with her teal skin. She grimaced as she slowly lowered her arms. "What's this folks?!" The emcee shouted. "Even though she isn't down, it looks like Undyne is utterly shaken by Suiryu's power! What will she do?! What can she do?!"
"If you think I'm giving up now," Undyne bent her knees as she spoke to Suiryu. "You've got another thing coming!" She stomped her foot, the shock launching stones up to her. She then punched them, sending the projectiles screaming at Suiryu. He was dodging them, but didn't have a smile on. As he was focused on the rocks, Undyne closed the distance between the two and clenched her fist. "Water Surge!" Faster than before, she struck at Suiryu's face.
Thock!
Her attack connected, landing right into Suiryu's face. After following through, Suiryu looked back at Undyne. He wiped his cheek and smirked again. "Pretty good." In an instant, he was right in front of Undyne, her eye widened in shock. "Void Sky Dragon Fist!" He twisted like a tornado, bombarding Undyne with a flurry of blows. She could do nothing as she was launched out of the ring and tumbled onto her back. "Ring out! Suiryu wins!" As the crowd began to cheer at the referee's decision, Alphys ran out of her seat towards her girlfriend. "Undyyyynnneee!" She ignored the guards and barricades and stopped at Undyne's side. "Alphys?" Undyne opened her eye to see the doctor above her, holding her head.
"Are you...?"
"Yeah. Cough. I'm fine." She managed to sit up while still coughing. "Guy might be a jerk but I gotta admit, he hits like a truck." When she looked back at Alphys she smiled. "He got me pretty pumped up. If I could use my lances, I think it'd go a little differently."
"Y, yeah! You're right!" Alphys encouraged. "The way these rules were, you were basically fighting with one hand behind your back! Next time you'll definitely beat him!"
"Yeah. But I got a long way to go..." By this time, a few of the staff had made it to the two. "Miss Undyne, are you alright?" One of them asked. "Can you stand?"
"I'm sorry, ma'am," another one told Alphys. "But you need to leave immediately, or you will be escorted out."
"It's fine," Sour Face put a hand on his shoulder. "I'll vouch for her."
"Alright, but she needs to return to her seat soon."
"I'll make sure." Sour Face approached the two monsters. Once the staff were confident Undyne was fine, they left. "That was amazing!" Sour Face squealed quietly so that no one other than Undyne or Alphys could hear him. "You were so fast! I could barely keep track of it! And using those rocks was a stroke of genius!"
"Thanks, I just made it up as I went along." Undyne grinned at the praise.
"If only Master Bang were here! Well, I'll report to him on your progress when I come back! I was his number two disciple, so I would think my name carries some weight."
"Don't go anywhere, folks!" The emcee's voice interrupted the conversation. "We'll be starting the closing ceremony in fifteen minutes!"
"C'mon," Undyne nudged Alphys. "I'll walk you back to your seat."
Saitama had dashed across the city streets at a moderate pace for him, looking for any sign of Genos. At some point, he caught a glimpse of three large drones and began tailing them. Eventually, they led to a crater with Genos lying in it. "Hey," Saitama waved. "You need a hand?"
"...Master?" The cyborg's voice was weak, but still roused by his teacher's voice. "Master!" The sudden shout made Saitama jump a little. "Hey, don't do that."
"Master! You have to get back!"
"Um, okay." He took a few steps backwards.
"No! To the stadium! The monster that did this; he's heading for the tournament!"
"Wait, then why didn't I pass him?" Saitama raised a non-existent brow in thought.
"Because he hit me from the east to the south!"
"Oh." The bald man looked to his left to see a few leveled buildings whose remaining height became lower as per the path Genos would have traveled. "That explains that."
"It is in your hands now," Genos proclaimed as the drones began to rise with his wrecked body. Saitama waved. "Okay! Try to be back in time for dinner!"
As the staff was busy getting everything in place for the closing ceremony, all of the contestants (minus three) were standing and talking with each other. Suiryu, Bakuzan and Choze were all keeping their distance but Undyne was amongst the crowd. Two men came up to her, one was a sharp, black-haired man in chinese-style clothes embossed with dragons. The other was a blonde man in black and white robes. "Hey," Undyne recognized them. "You're the two heroes who fought Suiryu, right?"
"Indeed," the black-haired one was serious. "Allow me to formally introduce myself. I am Snakebite Snek."
"And I'm Lightning Max." Max smiled as he introduced himself. "Gotta say, you had some moves! Even managed to smack that pompous dick in the face."
"Heh," Undyne chuckled. "Wish I did more. You guys weren't too shabby yourselves. You know, in your first matches."
"Well, we tried." Max shrugged.
"I'm just glad you're on our side," Snek pointed out. "You may be a monster, but you've earned my respect."
"Ditto." Max gave a thumbs-up.
"Good to hear!" Undyne grinned. "Hey! You should meet my girlfriend Alphys! She's an A-rank like you guys! Her hero name is...Otaku Lizard, I think? She's in the crowd now."
"I'm in," Max turned to Snek. "How 'bout you?"
"Well if there aren't any emergencies that require my attention, it would be good to get some networking in."
"Great!" Undyne exclaimed.
A staff member came up to the crowd of contestants. "Uh, if everyone could get in their places, we're about to begin."
"Ah, that's my cue," Undyne walked towards the center. "See ya soon."
"And so we draw the Twenty-Second Super Fight Tournament to a close!" The announcer proclaimed. Next to him was Suiryu, Undyne, and a pair of women in shorts and bikini tops holding a trophy nearly as tall as one of them and two giant checks. "In first runner-up, we have the rookie monster herself, the S-class hero, Undyne." As the crowd cheered, Undyne hesitated before smiling and waving. "Do you have anything to say, miss?!"
"Oh, uh...Heh, this kinda embarrassing. I mean when a group of kids cheers, I'm used to it. But a stadium...I guess I'd like to thank my girlfriend, Alphys, and Master Bang, and King Asgore and all my other friends. Hope they see this on tv."
"Phenomenal! Now for your prize!" One of the women gave her a check with less than half the amount of Suiryu's. "We hope you will return! But now, it gives me the distinct honor to introduce the five-time winner of Super Fight, Suiryuuuu!" Undyne stepped back and gave Suiryu his place as he accepted the trophy and other check. "So, we're all dying to know, champ. Is there anything you have to say to us?" Suiryu waited a few seconds trying to come up with something.
"Well-"
"Look!" One of the spectators in the crowd pointed up at the sky. Everyone looked to see three crows the size of cars circling above the stadium. They soon landed, becoming clearer to the terrified spectators. Each of them had an extra leg and an unsettling pair of black human arms. Each of them clutched the three contestants who were previously injured. "Oh no..." Alphys breathed as the crowd was whipped into a panic, screaming and rushing for the exits. One of the contestants, a man named Benpatsu with a long black braid, squealed and dashed in terror. "I gotta get outta here!"
"Hm, probably for the best." Snek pointed out as he and Max ran to Undyne's side. "Can you fight?" Undyne grinned as she summoned a spear.
"You bet your ass."
"Cool trick," Max noted before snapping into a pose.
Boom!
The sound of shattering concrete drew their attention towards the fighters' entrance. From it, a figure came out holding Benpatsu like a doll before tossing him back into the arena. It stood upright, revealing its height to be comparable to a small building. Despite having a human shape, its other features proved it to be a monster. With grey skin that jutted out like jagged rocks on its arms, fangs twice the size of a Tyrannosaur's and four dark red eyes shaped as if the structure around a human eye had shifted 90 degrees, it was a terrifying sight to behold. Yet in spite of that, it wore a jet black gi, the same color as its spiked hair. It stepped onto the stage and scanned the martial artists in front of it. "Is this really all there is?" Its voice was male, but deep and beast-like. "How standards have fallen...No matter. All of you! The time has come for you to join our ranks and become monsters!"
"What...?" Undyne was perplexed. "What does that mean...?"
"Snap out of it, Undyne!" Max shouted. "He's coming for us!" The monster lumbered closer as Max and Snek charged in. "Right!" Undyne raised her hands and a group of spears fell onto the monster. They slipped off his hide, not even scratching it. He then kicked the two heroes, sending them flying. Most of the contestants watched in horror, but Suiryu scoffed at the quick defeat. "Now then," The monster returned to addressing the humans. "I am Goketsu. I have come from the Monster Association."
"Goketsu?!" The emcee recognized the name. "The winner of the first Super Fight?! That Goketsu?!"
"Well that makes things easier. You know that defying me would be pointless."
"Who's Goketsu?" Suiryu asked casually.
"When the first Super Fight Tournament was announced, it drew the most participants it had ever seen since!" The emcee explained. "Among them, a single man rose to become the champion: Goketsu!" The emcee's story made Suiryu raise his eyebrow in curiosity. "But Goketsu went missing after pursuing a monster! We all thought he had died!"
"No," Goketsu continued. "While I was defeated, it did not kill me. I was taken to its lair and was given a choice: to die or to become something greater. I chose to become a monster, to shatter through the barriers that I could never overcome as a human! And now I stand before you to offer the same choice." Goketsu reached into his gi and pulled out a dozen small, dark purple blobs. He tossed them lightly and they landed on the ground; many of the fighters watched in horror as they pulsed like a heartbeat. "These are monster cells. Eat one and you will become a monster. Refuse, and die."
"What about me?!" Undyne glared. "I'm already a monster! You think I'm gonna join your little club?!"
"The offer doesn't apply to you," Goketsu dismissed. "For a monster that has abandoned their pride and crawled to the humans for sanctuary, my orders are to kill you and the other traitors." Goketsu's declaration made Undyne wince. All of a sudden, one of the injured fighters, a man in a suit and glasses, grabbed one of the monster cells and shoved it in his mouth. "Rosie! No!" One of the other contestants shouted. Rosie groaned as his body swelled, the sound of tearing fabric and rebuilding bones joining in a sickening cacophony. Parts of his spine jutted out, looking like spikes while veins throbbed. When he was three times his original size, the transformation ended. "This feels incredible!" He bellowed. "Forget that psychology martial arts crap! This is real power!" He turned his head to another one of the injured fighters, a large, round man. "Hey, lard-ass! This is for flattening me!" Rosie walloped the unconscious man, sending him crashing into the mid rows of the seats. "Ha ha!" Rosie laughed, reveling in his new strength. "I'm unstoppable!" As he was distracted, Choze ran up behind him and wrapped his arms around his neck.
Crack!
In a swift motion, Choze snapped Rosie's neck, twisting his head 180 degrees with the cold indifference of swatting a fly. "Why did you do that?!" Undyne shouted. "You could've just knocked him out!"
"Rabid dogs should be put down. However," Choze picked up a monster cell. "If an inferior human can gain this much power from becoming a monster, it makes sense that I would access an even greater power."
"Don't-!" Undyne's objection was too late, Choze tossed the blob into his mouth and swallowed. His clothes seemed to fuse to him as his upper body became red and diamond-shaped like his sweater. His hands became black and clawed while his shoulders were covered with sharp pyramids of varying size. The final change came as two horn grew on his head, giving him the appearance of a demon. "Fascinating," he mused while looking himself over. "It feels like I'm not only stronger, but any sort of scruples I might have had have vanished." The now monsterized Choze turned his head towards the wrestler Jakumen.
Pow!
With a single knock, he sent Jakumen flying sky-high. "Jakumen!" Sour Face shouted. "No!"
"Ku ku ku," Choze chuckled. "It seems the tables have turned." He faced Undyne. "Goketsu. If I kill this tramp, will I be rewarded by the Monster Association?"
"Probably." Goketsu admitted.
"Then watch as I prove myself as the true dominant life form."
As the martial artists and a few staff members were paralyzed with fear, Alphys was typing furiously on her phone. To any and all heroes! Attack at Super Fight Tournament! Humans turning into monsters! Two heroes down! Require assistance immediately!
As soon as she sent out the SOS, she reached into her pocket and pulled out six metal marbles. "Please work..." She tossed them and they began to hover. She went back to her phone and began typing.
Suiryu turned to see one of the bikini girls quivering in terror on the ground. "Hey," he whispered. "Why haven't you left? They don't seem interested in civilians."
"I, I can't move," She was close to tears, but Suiryu had a smile.
"If I take care of these guys, will you go on a date with me?" The woman nodded her head furiously. "Alright then." The confident Suiryu strolled up to Undyne.
"What the-?! What are you doing?!" Undyne shouted.
"I'll handle this. Why don't you take a breather?" Undyne glared at Suiryu before turning to the crow monsters. "Don't make me regret this." She warned before running toward the crows. As she summoned a spear, Suiryu and Choze rushed towards each other. Undyne launched her spear at the crow that still had a hostage. It tried to block with its hand, but the spear cut through, landing straight through its eye. It let out a death screech as it let go of the human; the other two snapped into action, rushing towards Undyne. Using their blind rage to her advantage, the fish hero made spears rise from the ground at an angle. The crows were impaled, their own speed used against them as the spears were driven into their bodies. Disoriented by the pain, the crows didn't change their direction allowing Undyne to strike them downwards into the cold concrete. Undyne turned to see them barely conscious and bleeding out. She materialized two spears in her hands and went between them. "I'm sorry." She closed her eye as she drove her weapons into their necks, ending their lives. Meanwhile, Suiryu and Choze had been trading blow after blow to the point where it looked like a blur. The two landed a hook to the others' cheek, knocking them away from the other. Suiryu wiped his cheek, "Nice to see you've got a little fight in you."
"It appears you're still ignorant of your situation." The space between Choze's horns sparked as energy began building up. "With this power, I will wipe away the useless dregs of humanity." The energy grew large enough to envelope an adult human. "I have no use for you! Vanish!" At that moment, one of Alphys' drones flew near Choze's face. "Hm?" It then emitted a gas directly into his eyes. "Arrrggghhh!" His eyes began to crust up as if they were turning to stone, blinding him. "The hell...?" Suiryu was confused by this aid until another drone above them shouted. "Now's your chance! Run!"
"Alphys!" Undyne smiled.
"There's no time! Go! Now!" With the crows defeated, the everyone who wasn't fighting other than Bakuzan bolted for the exit. The emcee being the only one to pick up the bikini girl who had collapsed.
"Where are you going?" As Goketsu was about to cut off their escape he glowed green. "Huh?" He tried to take a step, but he couldn't leave his spot. He looked down to Undyne who was also glowing green. "You stay put, prick!" Suiryu looked back at the cringing Choze who still had the energy gathered. Suiryu's eye sparkled as he dashed for him and gave a swift kick to the monster's jaw. Choze was shot headfirst towards Goketsu. Instead of making any motion to block or dodge, Goketsu left himself open.
Kra-koom!
When the two collided, the blast made Suiryu and Undyne cover their faces. When the dust had settled, Choze laid unconscious at the feet of a mostly unharmed Goketsu. "What a waste." The monster kicked Choze straight through the wall of the stadium, shocking Undyne. "I will say this, though," he turned to Suiryu. "You seem more competent than that one. Are you sure you want to spurn my offer? If you become a monster, you would be free. When the Monster Association succeeds, law and government will be torn down. Only strength will matter, and you seem like you would become very strong as a monster."
"Hm." Suiryu picked up one of the stray monster cells. "You do have a point. I doubt any hero could take me down even before turning into a monster."
"Y, you can't be serious?!" Undyne was taken aback. "You saw what those guys did, right?! If you do this, you'll become something worse than a monster!"
"Well, it would be nice if I didn't have to worry about anything." He drew the blob closer to his mouth and opened his jaw. "But," he tossed it right into Goketsu's face before clearing the distance. "If it means turning into an ugly bastard like you, I'll pass!" The martial artist twirled in the air. "Void Sky Dragon Fist!"
Boom!
Goketsu's fist crashed down onto Suiryu, slamming him into the ground. Suiryu coughed up blood as more streamed from his nostrils. "Suiryu!" Undyne called as Suiryu lied on the ground. "What's wrong?" The monster asked his victim. "I thought you would put up more of a fight." He lifted his foot above him. "Get up. You have three seconds. One...Two...Three!" Suiryu grit his teeth and flipped out of the way before jumping onto Goketsu's shoulder. He then struck the side of Goketsu's face with bullet-like punches. "That's it!" Goketsu smiled. "Fight me like your life's on the line!"
"Suiryu! Look up!" As Undyne called out, a spear manifested within arm's length of Suiryu. He grabbed the weapon and immediately drove it into Goketsu's closest eye. Undyne and Suiryu smiled as a jet of blood came from the wound; a clear sign of damage. "Hmph." Goketsu answered with a thrust of his palm, knocking Suiryu back onto the ground. He then pulled the spear from his eye and flicked it towards Undyne. Just before it pierced her forehead, it vanished. Undyne exhaled, trying her best to not reel from the near-fatal blow. "Huh, it looks like I can't kill you with your own weapon," Goketsu calmly analyzed. "In that case." His hand turned into a blur around his upper body before stopping. He opened his palm to reveal four of Alphys' marble drones. He flicked them all at Undyne, each of them shot through her, one for each arm and leg. "Arrrggghh!" The hero roared in pain.
"Undyne!" Alphys' scream drew Goketsu's eyes towards her hiding place behind a wall.
"There you are." Goketsu pulled a chunk of concrete from the arena and tossed it in one fluid motion at the scientist. "No!" The glow off Undyne and Goketsu vanished as Undyne leapt to intercept the projectile, her take-off creating a large crack where she was. She barely made it, deflecting the concrete but was knocked back and crashed into the stands. Suiryu grit his teeth at the situation they were in before his eyes turned to the only other human there. "Bakuzan!" He called out. "You're supposed to be kind of strong, right?! You think you can help us out?!" Bakuzan stepped into the ring.
"The reason I stayed was because I wanted to see how this would go down. Seeing you effortlessly take down that monster who ended my streak, I knew I couldn't surpass you. Yet when faced with even stronger monsters, you can't compete. So I've decided." His face twisted into a manic smile as he revealed four monster cells in his hand. "I'm going to be a monster too!" Any hope in Suiryu's eyes vanished. "I'll abandon my humanity and become a stronger creature than anything the world has ever seen!" As he shoved the cells in his mouth, he began to taunt. "Looks like there won't be any left for you! Ha ha!" He suddenly stopped and became bug-eyed, doubling over. "What a pig," Goketsu remarked. "That's why I said eat one. Oh well." He took a step forward. "Well, what to do?" In the blink of an eye he had his foot on top of Suiryu. "This has been a complete failure. Not only were there no decent monsters, my pets are gone." Suiryu groaned as he tried to keep himself from being crushed.
"Undyne!" Alphys ran out of her hiding space to her girlfriend's side. "Wake up! Please wake up!" Her words roused Undyne's eye to open. "Thank God..."
"Double Lightning Axe Kick!" A bright strike hit Goketsu in the back of his head. While it didn't seem to faze the monster, Suiryu slipped out from under his foot. "So you're back." Goketsu turned to see Lighting Max wearing a jumper and tennis shoes. "Just had to get my things."
"Is she alright?" Snek came up to Alphys and Undyne wearing a suit made of snake skin.
"Yes," despite her answer, Alphys was still worried. "But if she keeps fighting-"
"Get her out of here." Snek ordered. "Max and I will hold him off."
"No." Undyne slowly got to her feet. "Even if you could take another hit, you won't be able to damage him." She began to glow green at an even brighter intensity than before. "Without Saitama, I'm the only one who can stop him!" Her gi radiated light as it transformed. Her sash turned into a flame pattern while hearts appeared on her cuffs. Finally the kanji for heart formed on her back with a tsunami behind it. When it died down, she grinned. "Make sure she gets out safe, okay?" Snek nodded.
Whoom!
"Undyne! Don't!"
The fish woman passed Goketsu before jumping towards him at a different angle. Before the martial artist could process it, a spear had been driven straight through his forearm. Undyne summoned a spear in the air and jumped off it. She continued this hit-and-run tactic, planting more spears into Goketsu. Rather than rage, he smiled and squatted. "Fist of the Beast! Thousand Vipers!" His arms morphed into a cloud of darkness that seemed to reach all around him. If the onlookers had the ability, they would see something akin to a dance. Undyne barely dodging the fists while continuing to streak around Goketsu, her momentum steadily increasing while still puncturing the giant. After slicing through his knees, Goketsu finally faltered slightly. Seizing the opportunity, Undyne leapt into the air and launched herself at his neck from above. "Hrgh!" The lance went straight through Goketsu's windpipe, the force bringing him to his knees. "Finishing move!" Undyne held her fingers pointing to each other as if they were teeth in jaws. "Teal Cage!"
Crunch!
When Undyne closed her hands, a dozen spears, six above and six below, stabbed Goketsu in a curve from one shoulder to the other, going through his chest. Both of the combatants stood there, the seconds feeling like hours. The two monsters then collapsed. "Undyynne!" Alphys ran so fast that she was halfway down before Undyne's head hit the ground. "She did it..." Suiryu breathed as he, Max and Snek stared incredulously at the scene. Alphys was at Undyne's side like before, tears in her eyes. Undyne's gi reverted to its previous state; whatever power she had was gone. "Why?" Alphys cried. "Why did you do that? Now you're going to-"
"You..." the booming voice of Goketsu drew everyone's attention as he began to crawl. "I didn't expect that kind of strength. I guess that's what I get for underestimating you. Heh." Goketsu smiled. "To be honest, I kind of liked it. Since I became a monster, I've mostly been fighting trash. This was the first real fight in a while. Hey, lizard hero!" Alphys gasped as he called her. "When she wakes up, tell her that I had fun, y'hear?"
"I...I..."
"Shut up, loser!" Everyone gasped as Goketsu's skull was crushed by a giant foot. A being almost as large as Goketsu appeared. It had four arms connected by four shoulders with a spike on all of them, as well as on the elbows and on top of the head. There were three cat-like tails sticking out from its white shorts. Most of its body was covered in black hair with equally black sclera. It smiled sinisterly, showing its pointed teeth. "It's..."
"Bakuzan!" Suiryu finished Alphys' thought.
"Grah ha ha! In the flesh!" The now monsterized Bakuzan laughed. Snek and Max ran in front of Alphys and Undyne. "Get her out of here," Snek told the doctor. "You too, Suiryu!"
Without saying a word, Suiryu jumped with enough force to get out of the stadium.
"No you don't!" Bakuzan quickly intercepted the fleeing fighter and slammed him back into the ring. The impact created a crater as large as the one Goketsu made when he hit Suiryu before. Immediately he began wailing on the defenseless Suiryu, laughing like a madman. "Who's the strongest now?! Ha ha ha!"
"That's enough!" Max leapt up and was about to land a downward kick before being grabbed by one of Bakuzan's new arms.
"Ha ha!" Bakuzan cackled. "The lot of you look so tiny!" He scooped up Snek, but missed Alphys and Undyne who were out of his range. He flung both of them into the stands and continued to beat the defenseless Suiryu. "Stop it!" Alphys' voice rang out through the chaos, getting Bakuzan's attention.
"What?"
"Why?! Why would you do this?! Because you're a monster?!" Alphys started scolding the behemoth. "I've known hundreds of monsters! None of them were even a tenth as cruel as you! Even after what I've done... This kind of sadism is just... You're no monster! You're nothing!"
"You know, you're right. This is sadistic. But you know," Bakuzan grinned. "I've always been like this. The reason I became strong is because I like crushing the weak." He put his foot down on Suiryu.
"Guah!" The injured fighter coughed up blood.
"No!"
"Oh, be quiet," Bakuzan casually ordered. "When I'm done with this weakling, you'll get your turn." As he continued to crush Suiryu, the man kept screaming and Bakuzan kept laughing. "Come on! Kiss my feet and beg me to stop! Ah ha ha ha!"
"Hey." A man's voice caught everyone's attention. The sun gleamed on his bald head as he jumped into the arena. "What'd I miss?"
I was torn on how to end the chapter, either with Saitama facing Bakuzan or Garou because he stole his prey. You might also be wondering why Benpatsu, Boltan and the other guy didn't eat the cells. Since there was still a hero, it would make sense that the trio would be less pressured to transform. See you next time!
