I love Wanologic's art and only recently realized that she always drew Danny with freckles, so here we are. Also, Maternal Instincts mention.
Enjoy :)

It took a couple months, but Valerie finally noticed that Phantom had freckles.
It wasn't that she made a conscious effort to stare at him, but after the first five weeks of fighting you tend to notice a bit of his features. Kind of like how hard his bony knees were when they dug into your stomach. But he looked pretty human...there always ran the possibility that Phantom thought that he acted like one too.
He's a ghost, just like all the other ones, she would mantra. There is literally nothing different other than that he just looks like a human.
But he caught her eye once more when she was walking to the lunch tables, and Valerie had an oh, fuck it moment before waving him down.
"Ghost boy!" she called. "Tell me something!"
Phantom slowed to a hover, raising an eyebrow. "Yeah, Val?"
"First of all, you don't get to call me Val. Secondly, why the hell do you have freckles?"
He blinked and patted his cheeks. "I do no-wait, seriously?" The ghost kid floated down, examining his reflection in one of the windows. Phantom smiled to himself gleefully. "Heh. Well, would you look at that."
Valerie crossed her arms, scowling. "Unless this is just another one of your illusion things that you dead people like to do so much, then please, enlighten me."
Phantom grinned. "Y'know, some ghosts prefer Ecto-American, but it's your life."
"Tell me why, Phantom."
"Alright, alright," he sighed. "I dunno...UV rays burning me during morning patrol, I guess."
"Ghosts don't feel the effects of the sun."
"Ghosts don't feel any emotion but hatred and anger too, according to you."
"Excuse me, but that's a proven fact, look at Skulker-"
"Skulker's just got an obsession with hunting peop-" Phantom cut himself off, raising his hands up. "You know what, I shouldn't have tried to debate with you. Yeah, I have freckles because I have freckles. There, question answered...and your lunch period's about to end in, like, three minutes."
Valerie glanced at her phone. Damn him for being right. "I'm not done asking you questions, Phantom."
"At this rate, you might as well take me into a Law and Order set," he chuckled, bouncing back into the air again. "Go eat something, I bet you forgot to have breakfast too."
"Screw you...but okay."
Phantom hummed a goodbye, and Valerie was surprised she didn't hear one quip from him in this small conversation. She was about to stalk off before a lingering question
"Oh, and Val?"
Valerie turned, glowering. Phantom levitated for a moment, smiling cheekily. "I went camping in Wisconsin over the weekend."
Huh.
Danny went camping with his mom in Wisconsin too.
