What of Barry didn't save his mother? What if it was Caitlin who talked to him? Oneshot
What If?
Caitlin had been the first one to notice that Barry had gone outside. She quickly excused herself from the group and went outside. She went to steps and sat down next to him. They sat like that for a few minutes of awkward silence. Caitlin was the one to break the silence.
"Hey" She said awkwardly
"Hi Cait" He said not looking up
"How are you feeling ?" She asked an immediately regretted it the second she said it.
"Broken, sure I defeated Zoom but I already lost someone who was important to me" Barry said with a few tears escaping his eyes
"Im so sorry Barry I cant imagine how you are feeling, but I just want you to know that if you ever need someone I'll always be there for you no matter what I'll always be there for you" Caitlin said and stretched her arms to hug Barry.
Of course Barry hugged her back and closed the gap between them. Caitlin looked up to see Barry's emerald green eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and hurt. Their noses were a few inches apart. They both leaned in their lips just about to touch both of their hearts were beating fast.
"Hey" Iris interrupted them and they quickly pulled away and scooted away from each other. Iris was oblivious to the fact that she had interrupted them.
"Come on were going to watch a movie" She said and they both stood up and went inside. Neither of them said a word about what almost happened. But they both were thinking "Do we really feel like that for each other?" Or were they caught up in the moment. Maybe they had feelings hidden deep down for each other.
The past days in Star Labs were pretty tight Barry and Caitlin hadn't talked to each other execpt for simple 'hey' and 'bye'. Cisco didn't notice anything between those two. It was killing Barry not to know if that kiss mean't anything. It was getting late in the Lab, Cisco had already left leaving Barry and Caitlin alone.
"Cait?" Said Barry
"Yea"
"We need talk" He said
"I don't know what you're talking about Barry?" Caitlin said pretending not to know about what he was talking about.
"Cait we both know what that kiss"
"Barry that was in the heat of the moment yo- we didn't mean that" Caitlin said pretending to be working
"Is that what it was to you because that's not what it meant to me" Barry said frustrated was that really what she thought?
"Barry it's just that... nevermind even if it did mean something you're gonna be with Iris"'Caitlin said trying to hold back her tears he was going to be Iris's they would get married and Caitlin would be forgotten.
"Cait I love you not Iris I mean I do love her but as a friend you mean so much to me" He said cupping her face with his hands
"I-I love you too Barry" She said letting some tears escape her eyes
"Ssh don't cry I'll make you feel better" Barry said before leaning in for a kiss it was tender at first but it turned passionate and in a flash they were at Caitlin's apartment where it got heated.
After the events of the previous night Caitlin and Barry walked in holding hands. The second Cisco saw them he freaked out.
"Oh my gosh are you two dating?! Yes Harrison owes me $20 bucks" Cisco sad yelling
" Yea and wait you made a bet with Dr Wells" Said a confused Caitlin
"I umm so when did you to start dating" Cisco said trying to change the subject
"Last Night" Barry said excited
"What does it say" Barry asked outside the bathroom door
"Positive " She said opening the door showing him the pink line on the pregnancy test
"I'm going to be a dad!" Barry said smiling
"Yea Cisco's going to be so happy he'll be an uncle"
"I love you Cait" Barry said kissing her
"I love you to Barry" She said smiling
