Crisp cool mountain air bit him as he left the lodge. Nothing had gone right since the class got up here. This was going to be the weekend he broke the news of his choice, but NATURE seemed to be acting against him. He moved further into the dense woods hoping to lose sight of the lodge so he could lash out in peace.

Conversation... what did that intruder know about conversation? He talked like he knew Riley, but if he knew the Riley that Lucas knew then he only really heard about her friends or talked about himself all night. Hmm, he probably just talked about himself... conceited much? Lucas shook the mean thought for two reasons; the first being that the first time he and Riley really talked, he did all the talking and it was all about himself. The second reason is because he knew that Riley didn't know his true feelings and she was simply being Riley.

His feet came to a screeching halt as he allowed Nature's silence to surround him, but a faint snap of a twig told Lucas he wasn't alone. He growled to himself, he should've known that Zay would never let him run off in the heat of the moment.

"What do you want Zay!?"

"I'm here to save a tree." He smiled as he crossed his arms. "You know that talking is what Riley does best, right?"

"Of course, I know that," Lucas snapped.

"So then what's the problem?"

"The problem is she doesn't know!" Zay didn't even pretend to be taken by surprise. He knew the moment that he and Farkle tricked him in the scaling his feelings that Riley would be the end result. Everyone but Lucas knew that there was never a contest. Charlie Gardener worked as a test that Lucas failed, and as a result it shook his faith in whether or not he was right for Riley.

"It about time you saw the truth," Zay laughed.

"What are you talking about?"

"'It's always been Riley, it's always been Riley since day one.' You decided without even knowing you decided." Lucas stared at his best friend in wonder. He couldn't speak. "Lucas, you smile bigger every time you think of Riley's name."

"Riley," he whispered. "It's always been Riley."

"Yeah," Zay patted his buddy's back. "We know. Now I think it is time for you to let her know."

Lucas didn't say anything just nodded and moved back towards the lodge. But Zay had no last thing to say, "Lucas. I've seen you protect anything and everything in your path, but Riley is the first person I've seen you partner with. She may be innocent and naive but because of that she helps you seen that good in what is around you. Don't let that go."

Lucas nodded. He has something he needed to grab and then a girl to track down and sweep of her feet.

Author's note: I always wondered what that conversation between Zay and Lucas would've been. So I wrote it. If you think I should write more Girl Meets World stories write a comment and give me an idea of what you'd like to read.
