Sho was in charge. He was in charge so no disaster would strike. Natsuki had roped Sho in to making brownies with him. At first Sho wasn't going to, but the thought of Natsuki's baking skills convinced the short blond other wise. So, he and his friends were in the kitchen at an ungodly hour making brownies. Luckily, the two boys weren't starting from scratch. They had a box mix and where following the directions. Or at least Sho was.
"How about this?" Natsuki held a bottle of hot sauce.
Sho just looked at the bottle. "Where does it say to add hot sauce?"
"We don't have to follow the directions. We can add what ever we want." Natsuki pouted. He had being trying to many extra ingredients.
Sho glared at his friend. He lost track how many times Natsuki tried to add something. They already had a talk about following the directions on the box and no adding anything extra. The tall blond put the hot sauce away since he wasn't going to be able to change Sho's mind.
"Here you mix." Sho passed the spoon to a happy Natsuki. "I'll get the pan ready."
Natsuki watched his short friend out of the corner of his eye. While Sho's back was turned Natsuki added something that wasn't on the box. He was pleased that he got away with this.
Once the pan was greased, Sho passed it to Natsuki. He poured the mix into the pan. The pan went into the hot oven. A timer was set.
And now, it was time to wait.
"You know it not going to cook fast with you staring at them." Sho had started to clean up.
Natsuki squatted in front of the oven watching the brownie mix cook. "I know."
He stayed in front of the oven.
"What made you want to make brownies in the middle of the night?" The world was asleep. Sho would have been sleeping if Natsuki hadn't wake him up. The two blonds were up in the kitchen. Sho had protested against Natsuki, but Sho had lost.
"I just thought it would be fun if we did something together."
"Why couldn't it wait until morning?"
Natsuki smiled. "We're going to be busy in the morning." It wasn't a lie. They had a packed morning.
When the timer rang, the brownies were done. Sho held the pan with potholders. Natuski carried two cups of milk. The two went back to their dorm room. The two friends happily ate their brownies and drank their milk. The brownies were warm and gooey. The brownies were pure happiness.
Sho reached for another brownie, but he stopped. Natsuki had a big goofy grin on his face. Sho eyed the boy across from him and then the brownies. "What did you do?" The brownies weren't brunt to a crisp. There were no weird tastes. He couldn't figure out what was wrong with the brownies.
Natsuki didn't answer. He helped himself to another brownie. The chocolate chips he added made them even better.
