"...Gray, I can see you."

Gray flinched and ducked back behind the tree, his heart pounding. Maybe if he just didn't move...

"Gray..."

Gray heard her footsteps on the ground, coming towards his bad hiding spot... he just wanted to see where she was going, all dressed up like that, but if he were truly to be caught...

He yelped as a hand fell on his shoulder, and his head whipped around.

Lucy's deep brown eyes sparkled with amusement as she grinned at him.

"Stalking me again, I see?" She asked, not letting go of his shoulder, in case he tried to run.

Gray's face began to heat up, and his mouth opened and closed as he desperately tried to find an excuse.

"... a-ahm... n-no, I was just..."

"Spying on me?"

Gray swallowed nervously, averting his eyes as he did so. "No... no way, why would I?" he laughed.

"Ah! Jeffery, I'm over here!"

Gray's head snapped back towards Lucy so fast his neck popped. He didn't even wince, and instead looked around, his eyes narrowed.

"Who the fuck is Jeffery?"

"He's my date-"

"HA! I knew it! Wh-why are you on a date with someone? Do you-"

"That I never had."

Gray fell silent, watching the woman in front of him in confusion.

"Hah?" He said intelligently.

Lucy smirked. "I saw you listening in on my conversation... so I decided to play around with you a little." She glanced at him. "You do love to spy on me, don't you?" She asked, clasping her hands behind her back and tapping the toe of her shoe against the ground in an innocent pose.

Gray blushed a deeper red, and he looked down. Lucy continued.

"It's almost as if you... don't want me to go on a date with someone... is that right, Gray?" She giggled.

Gray chewed on the inside of his lip.

"No... I do." He muttered.

Lucy stared at him, a little shocked. "What do you mean by-"

Gray lifted his head and ruffled her hair. "You're already all dressed up, aren'tcha?" He forced himself to calm down. She wouldn't get the best of him this time, nope. "Do you... um, wanna walk downtown with me?" He almost whispered.

Lucy blinked, wide-eyed, up at the raven haired man in front of her. Then, after a long (and decidedly tense) moment, she smiled.

"As soon as I take care of one thing." She said happily.

Gray cocked his head. "What would that be?" He asked.

Lucy smiled sweetly, and looked towards the bushes at the edge of the park. Gray turned his head and followed her gaze. The blonde mage took a deep breath.

"NATSU!"

The bushes twitched.

Gray raised an eyebrow, and snickered.

"I guess I'm not the only spy here, am I?" He gestured towards the bushes with his thumb. "Shall we?"

Lucy smiled at him and cracked her knuckles. "Yes, we shall."
