Summary: What if Hans let Elsa have full vent to her anger to the invading guards on his attempted confrontation on North Mountain and never intervened? (Bad summary sorry) (suggested by Dreamsandimaginations!

Note: Griffin is the guard who was pushed off the ice shelf, and Ales was pinned against the wall with the ice spikes.

Hans guessed convincing Queen Elsa to return would be easy and quick. He anticipated a quick conversation, probably a little arguing at most, and the queen would be going back to Arendelle with them to set things back to normal. Little did he know he was completely wrong when a giant snow monster the size of a two story house roused from it's slumber and charged them.

"Up there! C'mon!" A guard screamed from inside the ice palace. He pointed an urgent gloved hand up a curved staircase in which a figure dressed in a sparkling blue gown was escaping. He and another guard that had lurched between the legs of the giant snow beast raced towards the Queen.

No harm better come to her! Hans wanted to shout.

He leapt forward, still pumped with fear and adrenaline from his near fall-to-the-death when that giant snow beast almost shoved him off the staircase outside in his attempt to enter Elsa's castle. The beast had been subdued by a clean slice of one of it's tree trunky legs and had been sent plunging to his demise tens of feet below in the dark chasm below.

Free of the beast, Hans and the guards continued their storm up the palace stairs. Hans barely had time to take in the enchanting, magical detail of Elsa's own hands that had created this palace as they charged up the various staircases. He slid past slippery floors, translucent ice panels, and walls turning from bright blue to an ominous dark red. The layout of the castle was elegant but thankfully simple. As the men reached the top floor; the sound of malicious, grating ice scraping across the floor; the thwack of crossbow arrows; and the shouts of the two guards filled their anxious ears. Hans reached the top to see a glorious pavilion lit with an eerie golden light. A giant chandelier hung from the center of the ceiling, dangling dangerously over the whole scene. Queen Elsa stood in the center; her hair down in a loose braid, a tight blue dress on her body, a scowl on her beautiful face. Her attention was thankfully not focused on them, but was on the other doorway at the end of the pavilion, the doors shattered off their hinges. She was unleashing a wicked stream of power on a giant shelf of ice which was slowly being pushed off the edge to whatever lay beyond it. Jagged walls of ice sprouted from random patches on the intricate floor, and a guard he knew as Ales was pinned to the wall by several sharp spikes of ice.

"W-where's Griffin?" One of the guards asked in fear. "He came up with Ales."

"H-he must be behind that shelf," Hans said, his voice shaking. "Or else she would not be pursuing it so intently. He dropped his sword as he perceived Elsa for the first time. The look on the queen's face was of pure, unadulterated evil. He finally realized the truth in what he saw. The Duke of Weselton was right as he watched Elsa mercilessly attack the guards. The Arendellians were right. Queen Elsa was truly a monster. A sorceress. A beast who would stop at no lengths.

His lips barely formed the words.

"Run."

They turned and sprinted towards the direction they had came from. They more or less fell down the stairs and sprinted down the pavilion just as a massive crash shook the whole palace. Hans turned around briefly enough to see the giant chandelier dangling from the ceiling had fallen onto the floor and had shattered into thousands of pieces. They had barely made it to the bottom when a cracking noise suddenly emanated from the depths of the castle. The men turned and stared in shock as a deep red glow lit up in the middle of the palace and began to spread throughout the walls, spires, and towers until the whole palace was consumed in an evil red color. There was a moment of horrific silence, and then there was a boom as the palace exploded.

"RUN FOR COVER!" A guard screamed. Hans dove into a giant snowdrift, unable to tear his eyes away from the massive explosion. It only took a few seconds for the massive castle to disintegrate, but the boom of the explosion rang in his ears for much longer. Elsa had disappeared.

After a few minutes of silence, Hans spoke up nervously.

"We should look for the men," he made out. Together, they trotted towards the edge of the massive chasm the castle had once been partially set on. Hans scoured the area with his eyes, and it took a moment to realize there were two dark spots on the white snow.

"There must be a way down there," he reasoned. He looked down. The chasm was approximately fifty feet. "Does anyone have rope and a pickaxe?"

"Well, being the prince and all you should have come prepared," one of the guards named Frey remarked sourly. "We lacked instructions on this goose chase you so unfathomly made us partake."

Hans frowned. "Excuse me? We are all in charge of the Queen's safety. I don't see how you guards of anyone are exempt from that."

"She hasn't spoken a peep in her life before the coronation!" Another guard with bushy red hair who was stroking his horse's mane added. "Ever since the death of the good King and Queen- may they Rest In Peace- the kingdom has been under no rule! It is a surprise we have had no attempted invasions."

The others murmured in agreement, looking very annoyed. Hans was at a loss for words. He barely knew the Arendellian royals and what could he say against a trained team of soldiers?

"Alright, I guess we could take that steady decline over there," he said defeatedly, and pointed to a gentle slope a few tens of feet away that led to the bottom.

One by one, the men slid down the slope and fell down about ten feet onto a soft snowbank. They trudged through the drifts to the two dark shapes in the distance.

"Griffin! Ales!" Frey shouted. They waved their arms at the motionless lumps on the snow. Hans reaches Griffin first and inspected him all over- afraid to lay a finger on the still guard- but Frey nearly threw himself upon Ales and searched him through.

"W-What?" Frey murmured. "It can't be! From a fall this great, not a single bone is broken in Ales!" He lifted Griffin's limbs to demonstrate. "And his heart is beating. He is alive. The snow down here- it is very deep. And alive. I believe it is the body of the fallen snow beast that softened the fall of these two men," he said softly.

The men looked amongst themselves, and a faint outline of what was once a terrifying snow beast revealed itself beneath them. A unison breath of relief was breathed out from all, but was quickly evaporated when they saw the condition of Ales. As Hans got a good look at him for the first time, he gasped. While Griffin was middle aged, brown haired, and bearded; Ales was probably not much older than Hans; with similar slicked back auburn hair and sideburns. His young face was frozen in a grimace and he still clutched his crossbow in locked arms. But that was not all. Four medium bloody puncture wounds decorated his chest and stomach.

"Holy mother of Thor, those must be from the ice spikes," Frey mumbled. He fell to his knees and reached under his coat to produce a roll of bandages. Hans was surprised to see tears spring into the latter's eyes as he gently wrapped the bandages around Ales' wounds and knotted them.

"I-is he alive?" The bushy red haired man asked.

Frey snapped up with an impatient laugh. "Or why else would I be bandaging him, Erik? Do I not know my own loyal friend?"

Another sigh of relief echoed around the chasm.

"But, he needs help. I worry for him," Frey added.

"Alright!" Hans called, standing up. "Let us carry both men on horseback back to Arendelle. Elsa- let us leave her be for now. I feel we should not bother that monster for a long time. I will inform Anna of her sister's actions and she will surely take action on the queen's heinous crimes! I will find another solution to end this evil winter, or perhaps Anna knows!"

"I vehemently agree," Frey mumbled angrily.

I hope you enjoyed this shot to some degree to be honest I didn't work too hard on it lol. If it's okay with you guys I feel like I want to take a break from this fic. As much as I hate to admit it, writing/updating for this feels like such a chore sometimes. I don't know when I'll cap it but probably when I reach 50 chapters lol. Thanks for reading!

PS: I'm working on a COMPLETELY new fanfiction! It will be a modern Helsa/Kristanna AU that has to do with expensive dinners, stolen credit cards, and chocolate filled donuts;) stay tuned!
