Whoops. I uploaded the last chapter on Ao3 but not here. So. Uh. Two chapter upload!

The human was recovering - which was great! She was glad! It was good he was getting better- it was good that he'd…leave. Soon. Ish.

The Nurse snipped the bandage free from its roll and finished off the wrap. She gave a little sniff to the wound, just in case. Smelled…like blood, but not like infection anymore. Which was great!

"Thanks, Nurse." The human said with a grin. Always with the grin. NurseTem wasn't the most well-educated on human anatomy, but isn't grinning all the time painful? She thought this, but she just said:

"Nu probLeM!"

As was standard. She trotted back over to her bag, shuffling about and discarding things as necessary, cleaning, putting away tools. The usual.

"Hey, Nurse?" Said the human to her back. One of her pointed ears twitched, twisting to point in his direction.

"YaYA?"

"Are you…. er, are you okay?"

She stopped. Flat out froze.

No. She wasn't okay.

There were very few people who took her seriously in any regard. Toriel, Sydna…. And this human. That was about it. The Nurse understood, she really did, why others would instantly disregard her. She wasn't always the most formal, and she was….well, a tem. Most of her sub-species were all over the place. Mentally (and physically, in the case that a tem would randomly explode).

But it still hurt, y'know? She had gone to Medical School for years just dealing with the constant 'ha ha lolz' of her peers. The only ones who had some serious belief in her had known her since childhood, and she would always be grateful for that. Sydna and Toriel were her best friends and she doubted they would ever not be.

This human was different, at least to her.

He…just got it.

Of course, at first, he doubted her. Everyone would and does. This person, this human, didn't take too long to start thinking 'ey, she's probably capable'.

She was so, so very grateful for that.

And it hurt her SOUL to think of him leaving. A reality that was approaching far too quickly. He was healing, and once he was better he would go, and once he goes, she couldn't heal him anymore, couldn't be there, couldn't help.

The Nurse didn't want to lose him, lose this human- this - this - this friend-

She got plucked off of the ground and squeaked in surprise, but her squeak was cut off by a high-pitched hic!

The human turned her around, holding her to his chest and gently smoothing back her ears. The Nurse opened her mouth to say something, but nothing but a wail came out as tears just started pouring from her eyes.

….Whatever.

She squished her face in between the human's neck and shoulder, unsheathing her tiny little claws in an attempt to get a grip, to just… to just keep him with them all a little bit longer….

"It's all right, pal. Shhh shhh," the human said, sounding oh-so very unsure of himself. But stars, he was certainly trying.

"Oi- Oi- I- EyE- hic! -I don't- I-i- Oi- Oi don't-" she lost her sentence to her wails, and her so very persistent hiccups.

The human slowly lowered himself, sitting on the ground with her while trying to sound reassuring. NurseTem laughed.

"uR bad at dis." She giggled, hiccuping and sniffling all the way.

"Gee, thanks." The human deadpanned. But he held her a bit tighter and the Nurse decided that whatever the future holds, her friend is still here. At least for today.
