Hey guys, been a while since I updated this story. Here's a flashback of everything that has happened so far so that you don't have to read the previous chapters to read the update.
The story starts off with Mia Kirei, who looks back at the time she first met Takumi and fell in love. She receives many signs and warnings from various people like Cedric, Kanou Soutaro and even Takumi himself that this love will not do her much good, but she chooses to ignore them and freely fall in love without looking back—which backfires on her when she realises that Takumi is still in love with another girl named "Misa" . Also, the reason why he was so drawn to her in the first place was because she looks exactly like "Misa".
As for the second protagonist of the story—Takumi Walker realises with time that he is not over the traumatic night that altered his entire reality five years ago and has hit rock bottom. Not a single day goes by when he doesn't reminiscence about his first love Misaki Ayuzawa. He indulges himself in alcohol and sleeping pills to get through the days. He blames his elder brother, Gerard Walker, for everything that he's been through as it was Gerard who decided to separate Takumi from Misaki by going too far and slitting her throat by intoxicating her. Gerard tortures Takumi by doing cruel things to Misaki's unconscious self and tells him to leave her or else he will destroy her life. Takumi caves and resorts to Kanou Soutaro and Tora Igarashi for help. He asks Kanou to erase Misaki's memories of the night and Tora to take his place in her life to take care of Misaki in the way he never can. Thus Takumi leaves Japan and goes back to Gerard, takes over the family business. He develops a strange attraction towards brunettes and when he sees Mia—who is a splitting image of Misaki, he tries to forget about the past for the umpteenth time and pursues a love with Mia, which does not work out well.
Gerard Walker develops a friendship with Mia through the course of time when he goes to Japan. He reflects on his past and the things he has done including his failed marriage and what he did to Misaki. Gerard falls in regret as his terminal illness resurfaces. He is forced to look back at the choices he has made. Gerard is confronted by Mia after she is told by Kanou that Gerard is not as kind as he seems. He falls speechless when Mia asks him what he did five years ago.
Kanou Soutaro has stuck with Takumi through the course of these five years and understands his mental illnesses, addiction and insomnia. He is genuinely worried about the worsening condition of Takumi and befriends Mia without wanting to. He is now bent on making Mia see the true face of Gerard Walker.
As for Misaki Ayuzawa, Takumi's first love, who has grown up to become a very successful human rights activist and lawyer— she's living a great life by doing social work and bringing justice to many. The only area she fails at is her love life, which is not flourishing. She gets flashbacks and dreams about the incident that she does not remember, and feels conflicted. She has a no strings attached, purely physical "friendship" with Tora Igarashi, who has stayed by her side as he promised. Misaki finds herself in Japan after a few years where she has to investigate the case of Walker Corporation and the illegal practises that have been going forward in Japan's headquarters. She is working against the corporation to shut it down, where she meets Takumi Walker again, but does not recognise him.
In the last chapter, Mia visits a sick Gerard, to discuss about the gathering she has to arrange in the office on Gerard's humble request or whim. Gerard does not tell about his resurfacing illness to anyone yet. Kanou meets with Mia and they plan to do something huge in the party. Kanou also realises that Takumi is taking an unhealthy amount of sleeping pills ever since he saw Misaki in physical form after five years. He cannot seem to take it very well and winds up in the hospital. Kanou tells Takumi that he has to recover soon and in the meanwhile Gerard can take over even though Takumi insists that the company is his responsibility. Takumi mistakes Mia for Misaki once again, leaving Mia hurt. Takumi feels guilty for his actions and behaviour. Later, Mia confronts Gerard and tells him to tell her what happened five years ago that seems to be the turning point in their lives.
Now on to the next chapter!
By the way, thanks for all the "hate" that I got on the previous chapter. Even though I know nobody cares, but I would still like to say that it wasn't like I'd lost the motivation or the will to update this story. I wanted to, but my entire 2018 went in illnesses, mental diseases, and an accident that I thankfully walked away from, alive. I've had my reasons why I wasn't able to update this story, but I guess I'm more thankful to the fact that I'm alive instead of being guilty that I couldn't update any of my stories. I'm *still* going to update, for the sake of the people who would like to read my stories and for my own sake too, and try to regularize the frequency of my updates, so if you're willing to stick around, I'm grateful and if you're just fed up and done with it, I wish you happiness and health because we probably won't be meeting for another update.
See you all next time! Soon!
