AN: So I was considering just leaving this story as a one-shot, but I feel like I could still write one or two more chapters to leave things wrapped up. Since every hiatus this show goes on is long af and I need something to do.

Chapter 2

Pearl moved out of Lapis' embrace and blushed, "No. We're moving too fast," Pearl waited for a second," Don't call me baby!" she blurted.

Lapis held her hands up in defense, "Sorry. I was just trying to make you feel better."

"No it's just... we should fix up your gemstone," Pearl changed the subject because she was too embarrassed, "I don't need to take you to Rose. There's another place where you can heal yourself." Pearl took Lapis' hand and led her to the warpad.

With a quick warp, Pearl and Lapis arrived at Rose's healing spring which was a massive arena-like space near the mountains with a big statue of Rose Quartz in the center. Pink water flowed from the eyes of the fountain into the pool below it. Pearl led Lapis to the edge of the water and gestured for her to step in.

Lapis did not want to go in alone though, so she put her right arm on Pearl's shoulders and pulled her into the fountain with her. Pearl laughed as Lapis held onto her and made a "pfffbt" sound onto Pearl's neck, her lips tickling Pearl. As they fooled around, the cracks in Lapis' gemstone disappeared and her eyes changed from clear mirrors to white wirh blue pupils.

The two went underneath the water for a bit, resurfaced, and continuted to laugh. Lapis passed a hand over her now smooth gemstone.

"Thank you so much, Pearl. I should be able to fly now."

"That's wonderful, Lapis."

"You're wonderful," Lapis playfully splashed Pearl in the face.

Pearl giggled and then splashed Lapis back. The kept this up until the sun went down, it was then that Pearl said, "Oh dear. It's late. I should probably go back home."

Pearl climbed out of the water and Lapis went after her. She pulled Pearl back into the water and held her against her chest.

"Don't go! I haven't had this much fun in eons."

"It's just," Pearl bit her lip, "I-I. I can't just stay here forever. I have resonspiblites to take care of."

"But-" Lapis' protest was then cut off by a ear-piercing roar. A large four-legged beast slowly came down the entrance of the healing spring and approached the fountain Pearl and Lapis were swimming in.

"A corrupted Quartz."

"What? That thing's a Gem solider!?" Lapis yelled.

The beast took notice of Lapis' shriek, roared at her, and then lunged forward. Pearl jumped out of the fountain, pulled her spear out of her gem, and slashed the beast across its face.

The monster stumbled back a few feet and then tried to bite down on Pearl. Pearl dodged and then began to circle her oppoenent. As she moved, she fired rapid bullets of light at the monster's side from her spear. Though it did not do much damage it at least distracted the monster.

Lapis clenched her fists, formed wings of water from her gemstone, and launched several feet up into the air. Using her hydorkinises, Lapis lifted gallons and gallons of the healing water from out of the fountain. She then used the water to create two large hands.

Since the beast was hyper-focused on Pearl, it did not notice Lapis preparing to attack. So when the massive water hands came rushing forward and slapped the beast, sending it rolling for fifty feet, it did not expect anything.

Pearl ran forward at the collapsed beast and stabbed its side with her spear. The corrupted Gem let out an anguished cry like an animal that had just been shot with an arrow. After a few seconds of intense pain, the beast exploded into a cloud of dust and left behind only a gray hexagonal gemstone.

Pearl picked up the gem, bubbled it, and sent it to the temple's burning room. Lapis put the water she was levitating back in the pool and approached Pearl on foot.

"So is that what most Gems on earth look like?"

"Yes," Pearl admitted, "The Diamonds' final attack on earth corrupted nearly every Gem, Homeworld or otherwise, on the planet. So we've been bubbling them away and trying to find some way to reverse the damage."

"I see."

"So are you going to go back to Homeworld now?" Pearl asked.

"Yes," Lapis answered, "I don't belong on earth."

"I understand. Not everyone loves this planet the same way the Crystal Gems do."

"Well. I was thinking that maybe you could come with me?"

"I do miss Homeworld. But at least on earth I'm free. They consider me as nothing more than an object on Homeworld."

"Right," Lapis muttered.

"You should go though. You've been trapped in that mirror for years after all. Going home would lift the stress off your shoulders."

"You're right, Lapis said," her water wings sprung out of her back again, "I guess this is good-bye?"

Pearl nodded, "It is, huh?"

Lapis stepped forward and kissed Pearl on the cheek. The two looked at each other, giggled, and then broke into loud laughter.

"This was fun," Pearl said.

"It was. I wish we could hang-out more."

"I'll be here if you ever want to come back and visit."

"Ok."

The two shared a long hug. Lapis kissed Pearl on the cheek again, spread her wings out, and launched forward into the sky at a blinding speed.

Pearl watched as Lapis became nothing more than a speck in the star filled night sky. She sighed in exhusation and climbed up the stairs to the exit.
