And so yesterday, Ash's winning streak came to a grinding halt as his Gary-Stuness Alain put him down. Again.

Honestly, I'm really disappointed with how things went. Alain is awesome at times, don't get me wrong but he has a lot of bad qualities as well. I won't be going into those, but the fact is...he just didn't deserve to win the Kalos League. It's basically a spit in the face to Ash, who has traveled all these regions just to get good enough to make it to the finals and Alain just waltzes on through without trouble - literally only using his Charizard right up until he fought Ash in the finals.

All my motivation for writing Pokemon stories kinda died with that episode. Hopefully it comes back soon.

Anyway, this is just a short drabble that I felt like writing. Yay.

Somehow, Ash knew it would come down to this.

As always, no matter what he threw at that Mega Charizard, it never fell. That beast of a pokemon had taken enough damage to bring a legendary pokemon to its knees twice over, yet still stood. Mega Evolution truly was amazing - the power it brought forth was awe-inspiring.

Even at that, Ash had to admit...Alain really did train impressive pokemon. That Bisharp of his was a really nasty beast, if it weren't for it Ash was sure he would have brought that Charizard down before getting to this point.

This battle had been long and incredibly tough. There had been no time for strategy or strategic maneuvering, Alain would not give him the chance. This entire battle had been flat out head to head collision one after another.

Tyranitar, Weaville, Unfezant, Metagross, Bisharp and Mega Charizard. A daunting challenge to overcome, but he stood atop the summit. He'd reached the mountain peaks and he was not about to fall until he pierced the heavens.

Hawlucha brought down Weavile. Talonflame had managed to take Unfezant down with it. Pikachu performed beyond expectations and took down both Tyranitar and Metagross alone before falling to Charizard after dealing quite a bit of damage.

Greninja, fought well but it wasn't enough. He took down Bisharp with ease, but even with their synchronized form it still wasn't enough to defeat Mega Charizard – even with their new, super Water Shuriken.

But that was fine. Ash had predicted it would somehow come down to this, really he did. It was too much to ask for that Alain's other pokemon weren't monstrously strong, even if he did spend too much time on that Charizard of his. Really, Ash was just quite thankful that he couldn't Mega Evolve his Tyranitar and Metagross as well.

Then he might have been in a bit of a pickle.

His amber orbs flickered towards Alain. He could see both the satisfaction and disappointment in his eyes, even from across the battle field. The satisfaction at having won, and brought down an incredibly powerful opponent and the disappointment that the battle was coming to a close.

He knew exactly how Alain felt. Because he felt the very same way at the moment. He'd switched up his roster. Goodra had been his trump card so far. Goodra could take a beating like nobodies buisness – but at this point, Goodra hadn't matured and grown enough into his powers to bring down Mega Charizard.

So, Ash switched up his trump card with another. He'd switched defence for pure unadulterated power. Alain did not know, that Ash himself knew better than anybody else the power within a Charizard and just how to bring them low.

And once again, Alain did not know that Ash had a pokemon that had defeated legions of Charizard, from the biggest, to the fastest to even the most powerful. This pokemon had stood atop them all, the victor.

It was time to add Mega Charizard to that list as well.

He threw his last pokeball into the air, "Charizard, let's go!" Ash declared to the world.

And the black dragon fell.
