Hey Nana, do you remember when you tried to get Hachi and Nobu back together? They were truly in love. They were so in love that they might've even got married, if only things hadn't gotten so complicated. If only your plan to get them back together had worked. If only I wasn't born.
I first noticed mommy and Nobu when I was only four years old. It was time for the fireworks. I was so nïave then. Mommy ran his bath and he came in right after her. Everything smelled so fruity it made me hungry and I wanted to see if you could make the apple shaped bunnies I liked so much. I opened the door to find you and Nobu embracing while you cried on his shoulder.
I should've walked away and let you two have your moment. I should've just asked Yasu if he knew how to make apple bunnies. "Mommy, are you okay?"
Realizing you two now had an audience, mommy let go and turned to me, ashamed. "Nothing Satsuki, mommy just-" She turned to you, not sure of what to tell me.
"Mommy just fell and hurt herself. I was just making sure she was okay,"Nobu explained, cutting the silence.
"Did Nobu kiss your booboo better?" I asked, now wishing I hadn't.
Your faces turned crimson red at my question. "Um. Mommy is okay now and doesn't need her booboo kissed. Satsuki did you come here for something?"
"Oh mommy can you make me apple bunnies?"
You smiled and Nobu laughed. "Okay go ahead and get the apples and I'll be out in a minute."
"Okay mommy," I said as I started to leave the bathroom.
After I ate I fell asleep on Yasu's lap. I didn't hear Nana or Ren come in or when Nobu left to get some beer and a juice box for me.
I woke up to the sound of fireworks. They were loud and beautiful. "Mommy take me to see them," I said as I pointed to the sky.
"In a minute Satsuki I have to help Nana with something."
"But mommy they will end soon," I moaned in annoyance.
"Boys can you take her?"
"Okay Hachi," said Shin.
"But mommy I want you to take me."
"Satsuki we'll take you. I'll even let you sit on my shoulders so you can see the fire works better," Ren said pointing to Yasu and Shin. I smiled and said good bye to mommy and Nana.
A short while later Nana and mommy joined us. Ren put me down so he could give her a kiss. "No pick me up," I complained but they didn't hear me.
"Satsuki leave Nana and Ren alone," commanded mommy.
I was mad. It was my first time watching the fireworks live. How could I see the fireworks when there are people in my way.
"I'll carry you Satsuki."
Surprised, I turned around to see Nobu with the drinks. "Yay Nobu!" I hugged him and sat on his shoulders.
I barely looked down from the fireworks except once when I wanted my juice box. I noticed the way mommy was looking at Nobu. And how Nobu was looking at mommy. He looked really happy with his goofy grin. Mommy was happy to only her eyes didn't match her smile. Her eyes looked kinda sad. So did Nobu's. I didn't understand how they could be looking at eachother and not the fire works. How they couldn't be as happy as I was. I looked at Ren and Nana and how they looked like mommy and Nobu with a few exceptions like hand holding and the fact that their eyes matches their smiles.
I always wonder what would've happened if I had just kept quite.
Hey Nana, if I asked you to help me get them back together, will you?
