Damn, the woman. Seeing her like that only made his growing need worse, no unbearable. Why did she have to be half naked, wet coming out of a shower? Why did she have to get an abortion? Why did she have to be on a carrier hundreds of miles away? Damn, damn, damn. Where was Sarah MacKenzie when he needed her?

Commander Harmon Rabb barely was able to hold onto the phone, pacing nervously outside his hotel room as he dialed the number for the JAG office aboard the Sea Hawk.

"Pick up, pick up, pick up, come'on Mac, pick up."

"JAG office, MacKenzie."

"Thank G-d, you're there" he let out a long held breath when she answered.

"As opposed to being someplace else?"

He smiled in relief, "Well, yeah. I mean, no, ah, no, I mean, I mean I'm glad you're on the phone, talking to me, yes."

Though she was nearly silent, Harm could hear the soft laughter she was holding back and imagine the smile on her face. That smile, the one he was privileged to see more and more, he didn't want to live without seeing that smile.

"Harm, don't get me wrong, I love hearing from you, but why did you call?"

"Ah," okay, Rabb, come up with a reason.

"Well, can't I just call to say hello?" yeah, that was good.

"Sure you can. I miss you and I really appreciate the call. But sailor, we're both on duty, and you've only got about 48 hours 20 minutes and seven seconds to solve a series of murders. By the way, how's Manetti working out? Still think she's a spy?"

"Ah, well, Mata Hari maybe," he looked back at his closed hotel room door.

"What?"

Okay, now he was cooked.

"She's doing fine I guess."

"You guess, don't you know? I told the admiral she was the only one on staff who had any profiling knowledge but if she's not working out."

Harm interrupted her, "Mac, can we talk about something else, anything else? Please."

"Okay, what do you want to talk about?"

Why is she asking him all the tough questions?

"What do you want to talk about?"

"Harm, you called me, remember?"

Damn.

"Uh, yeah. You know, Singer plans on getting an abortion."

"That's really no surprise."

"I know but shouldn't the father have a say in the matter?"

"Harm, please don't make this another one of your obsessions. If she doesn't want to get the father involved, officially we can't do a thing about it."

"But what if the father wants to be involved but doesn't know he's the father?"

"Uh, Harm, is there something you're not telling me?"

Damn.

"No, no. It's just. G-d Mac, I miss you. Please find a replacement soon."

"Sure Harm. I miss you too."

"And Mac?"

"Yes?"

"Thanks for being there for me. I know I can always talk to you."
